Quote:And of course 85.8% of dwarves are not Happy ...Regarding the statistics, it's important to remember that 78.63% of all statistics are made up on the spot (like that one was) and the 98.3% of statistics reported on the Internet are complete tripe (which is far closer to being true).
This has been a post by the Internation Society for the Understanding of Statistical Mathematics.
I play in a SG full of European based players on the US servers (www.eurocore.org). We certainly had a higher proportion of women in our group than has been suggested here, although many of them are no longer active and have moved on to other games or RL. Most of the women were British or Swedish from what I can remember. -
I had to petition for my 63 month badge last month, suspect the time calculations going astray somewhere.
-
Quote:Would seriously help me, I'm an UK altoholic with 150+ toons on one US account, all 36 slots used on my home server, total of 6 slots free across all servers I think. Wish they'd go beyond 36 max slots per server too.I think putting the lists together would be a good idea - it'd give all the players extra slots
I'm seeing seriously reduced populations on the US servers in the UK mornings and afternoons to an extent that it's barely worth logging on at those times. I'm also seeing less and less of my SG logging on of an evening even though they're quitting CO in droves. -
There are lots of ways to tweak this.
1: take the kismets out of lucky, take char instead of CP and bung 4 basilisk's gazes in, gains you 3.75% recharge and yes that 7.5 does stack with the 5 LotGs.
2: Incinerate vs GFS, really depends on your attack chain, but believe incinerate is better DPA.
After that it's personal choice what you want, clearly FS can just be 6 slotted with ToD and you're capped for melee.
You could also switch the slotting of one of your early toggles for a set of red fortunes (either + a LotG 7.5 or shift that to lucky), allowing you to remove the doctored wounds and slot a numinas unique plus numinas and miracle heals in health (and a regen tissue unique if you felt like it). -
Nah, for true scariness, reds, BU shield charge one group, lightning rod a different one, kills enough that 2 8 man groups get reduced below the aggro cap almost instantly. Went through double XP doing that while semi tanking.
-
My signature toon is a Granite/BA tank. Battle axe is actually quite a good set to match with stone armor, as it has its DPS spread through the set (barring the first attack), rather than having one attack that really suffers from the recharge slow in granite. One thing you could do is to slot the force feedback chance of +rech in some of the AoEs as they do knockdown.

I like ice armor and by suppressing close effects, you don't have to look through it.
Ice/elec is a very easy tank to play on SOs or a small budget, I had one in the beta that was soloing +1x8 CoT (not the easiest for ice with the fire damage mixed in) with reasonable speed on SOs only.
Don't mock electric armor, I did a mids exercise and managed to IO a WM/elec out with capped melee, smashing and lethal defence without any real compromises, so if you're prepared to spend some cash, you can potentially do some silly things with it. -
Quote:Elec/SR is fine unless you're soloing AVs, just set your solo mishs for several people and go to town with the AoEs.Energy aura is actually not that bad, I just couldn't live with the sound that Energy Cloak makes so I deleted mine at 32 though. It's also not much of a team brute, stealth instead of a taunt aura but since you want to solo I guess that doesnt matter.
I would say SR is probably a better option. Any primary/SR will be awesome though elec melee has pretty naff single target damage so you might want to avoid elec. -
Now try spending some time opening and closing storage items in your base and transferring stuff between your inventory, vault, WWs transaction slots and base storage. This is where the biggest memory leaks used to be. The only time I ever locked up was when I was reorganising my base storage or IOing a toon out from scratch and zoning in and out of my base and shifting stuff from one form of storage to another, getting salvage and crafting stuff etc.

Quote:Good point. In addition to what Minotaur mentioned, if you're planning to get Build-Up, six slotting it with Gaussian's is a good choice--it gives a 2.5% def bonus to all three positions.
There is something to be said for going over the 45% if you intend to tank some ITFs, Cimerorans do a considerable amount of -def, so being far enough over 45% that the first hit (adjusted by your debuff resist) doesn't uncap you is handy. -
Quote:More than you wanted to know about how defense works: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=121258Hey all and thanks for taking a look at this. I'm looking at IO'ing my SD/Elec tank as he is almost 50. I have not messed with IOs before and I'm kinda lost by looking at all of them. My budget is around 500mil. I'm looking for help with his build and then of course IOs. I don't really know much about soft caps or anything so any information would help.
Thanks in advance
tl:dr version, you want 45% defence to all the positions (melee/ranged/AoE), any extra just helps with debuffs and foes with +to-hit most of the time.
Fortunately this is very easily attainable with a shield tank with fairly minimal IOing.
Example:
Deflection and battle agility give you a little under 23% def to all slotted.
Phalanx fighting gives you 5% def all unenhanceable
Weave gives you 8% def all slotted
Combat jumping gives you 3% def all 1 slotted.
So that's 39% def all with no IOs. Now throw in a steadfast protection res/def unique for 3% def all and you're nearly there. The last bit can be done pretty cheaply and in various ways.
One set of touch of death, one set of mako's bite, and one set of 5 sciroccos dervish will softcap you, but there are cheaper alternatives using multistrike and red fortune for example that might be preferable.
You can then use the bulk of your 500M to improve recovery and recharge, or splash it on HOs for active defense to improve your def debuff resists.. -
Almost never quit a TF, make notes so you never play with the player again, but don't bail. I think I've quit 2 of the 4 figure number of TFs I've done.
One I warned the team that I might have to quit beforehand as one particular effect (hurricane) makes me ill, and there was a stormie on the team who was very good at using it. They said to come along and try, and no hard feelings when I had to quit.
The other, some muppet decided to run posi on invincible with a pretty random team, I was the lvl 12 tank and after a level 17 or 18 minion killed me one on one, realised that life was too short to complete this.
My response to the problem with the fire/kin is to beat them to the groups even if that means leaving the previous group before it's finished. The problem I find is that they tend to use fire cages and immob groups out of range of my taunt aura. The counter to this is to get to the group first and cluster them on you before the fire/kin arrives.
As to multiple tanks, I prefer to agree to tank alternate groups, and this can be very efficient as every group is tightly clustered for the damage dealers. -
Quote:Ice has the best aggro holding power of all the tauntless tanks (chilling embrace plus the damage aura), I don't know where you get that from. Invul is fine too.having played shield & ice & fire tanks & fire, invul and dark armor scrappers. i feel only ice, shield. and invul have have taunt and fast acting taunt effects sufficient enuff to keep agg. unless u are willing to slot in taunt durations and wait for what seems to be the long 1-2 sec aura tic that the weaker auras generate to get agg, i would just grab the taunt power and ensure agg is mine.
WP and stone are the only two that I take taunt on without thinking about it. WP has a poor short duration taunt aura, and it's difficult to zip around and aura taunt with stone unless you always play with a kin.
Ice I never take taunt on, and almost never miss it (MoGd paragon protectors can be about the only real issue).
Others I go case by case. -
Actually doesn't seem to be the case, I made the mistake of slotting one in SC and one in LR, it does VERY occasionally give me a buff icon, but it seems to be 1/20 rather than 1 per target. Next respec I'll retrieve them.

Quote:Or just pop a load of purples unless you load VERY slowly. In the particular mission you are discussing, there are many groups of enemies surrounding the entrance. However, they are all slightly outside of aggro range.
There is a problem with entrances like the one to that mission, though. As people enter, they appear in the same spot. The game has some automatic routines to spread out entities that are right on top of each other, but these routines have a bug where two entities can both be shifted in the same direction repeatedly, so that they slide in one direction instead of separating. With a long load and a lot of bad luck, I can see this effect leading to the player characters sliding into aggro range.
On the bright side, MM pets now zone with them - so if you are having problems of this sort, one workaround would be to play or team up with a MM. Their pets are usually capable of taking on at least a few enemies without supervision. -
Quote:While I agree with oblits in shield charge, in footstomp I prefer the force feedback +rech proc, it goes off frequently enough in big groups that it's well worth having to get footstomp recharged again.Something that I'm really liking in my SD/SS farmer is having Obliteration slotted in both Shield Charge and Footstomp. Moving from one big spawn to the next really lets the procs in those power shine. That extra bit of damage ticks generously when you use it often and I've noticed it be the difference in a kill / non-kill on a number of occassions. I know Obliteration isn't the cheapest set out there but the bonuses and benefits are pretty dang good.
The difference between the two is that in FS, it's one proc chance per target, in SC it's one total for force feedback.
My SS uses one +rech proc in FS and the other in the epic energy torrent and the speed increase is very noticeable. -
Ice/elec is fun and pretty cool on a small budget. I was happily handling +1x8 solo during the beta on SOs.
Shield/elec may be better if you have the budget to pimp it out, I know it rocks as a scrapper.
I like ice/stone with a medium budget, lots of mitigation from fault and tremor plus unlimited end from energy absorption. The only problem is that until you get EA slotted(27), you'll wonder where your blue bar went. Force feedback +recharges in fault/tremor and epic energy torrent gives you fault and tremor back rapidly and excellent control, to go with very good ST damage. -
Quote:Note on kinetic combat, it's the dam/end and dam/end/rech that are the pool C expensive pieces and you only need 4 of the 5 for the S/L bonus. I usually slot whichever of the two expensive ones I can lay my hands on, plus the others including the KD proc on any attack that doesn't have KD of its own. I then round out the enhancement bonuses with the remaining 2 slots. My plan is to heavily use Kinetic Combat, Aegis, and Eradication on my MA/WP
I'm 5 slotting Kinetic Combat and adding the Mako's 3-piece to round out the attack (I just like the idea of them falling down when I punch them)
Aegis in both Mind over Body AND HPT (the other 3 slots in HPT will be Numina's for the regen/HP bonuses) Probably in Tough as well.
Eradication in Dragon's Tail, possibly 3 Eradication and 3 Multistrike
Don't forget Weave adds it's full defense value to everything equally, both positional and typed.
Eradication and aegis are great too, and the quad is the only expensive eradication. -
Quote:Did you sell the recipes, or did you craft the enhancements and sell them ?Wow, what an extremely helpful thread!
So, I'd accumulated about 181 merits and last night I spent them on random rare recipe rolls. I DID manage to get another in my Numina's set, which I want to keep for myself, as that's what I'm saving for, but the other 5 or so rolls I got were for Mako's, and then some other crappy oranges that didn't sell for more than maybe 10,000 a pop.
It is almost always more profitable to craft the enhancements.
Always check both prices at WWs, most of the makos make you at least 2M profit. -
[QUOTE=KingSnake;2336481]Quote:Actually I've done this legitimately on invincible with none escaping. Ice tank standing a short distance from the henge using taunt/damage auras, scrapper buddy out and about killing spawns. The 30 Firbolg needs immob, hold, or sleep - basically a controller - to succeed.
/QUOTE]
This mission is crasy easy for me.... i solo it, perfectly each and every time. on the hardest difficulity. In seconds... I reclick my contact and tell him to shove it up his.. er.. i drop it and move on...
Much MUCH less stressful that way. >.> -
Elec/shield/body
It's taken me 43 50s to get one I prefer to play rather than levelling something else.
Why body ? Physical perfection fixes my end use, and energy torrent (which does KD not the KB the blaster version does) takes the force feedback +rech proc which helps recharging the TP attacks.
My build is not obscenely expensive ToD, sciroccos and obliterations mainly but relies on force feedback procs in thunderstrike and energy torrent rather than LotGs for recharge. Capped melee/AoE and about 37% ranged def.
I solo rapidly at +2x8 no bosses, and unless I hit mobs with heavy non positional psi or defence debuffs, can happily pseudo tank for a team. The usual trick is to move into melee to fuel AAO buildup, shield charge one group, lightning rod another killing all the minions in both groups. Then scrap the lieuts and bosses. -
Got 50s #42 and 43
ElM/shield scrapper 40-50
Fire/kin 48-50
Then used the ElM/shield to run missions to get a rolling cast of SG friends from 1-stamina. Good fun, more relaxed than normal. -
Another vote for elec/SD. I use energy torrent rather than fireball as you can slot a force feedback +rech in it to help get your big attacks back faster and physical perfection solves my recovery issues.
I can happily solo +2x8 for most things without non positional psi and take them down fast. I particularly like having 2 nearby groups, BU, LR into one, SC into the other killing all the minions in both groups and then gathering anything alive for rapid destruction. -
A question on the Force feedback +rech proc and shield charge/lightning rod, does it work properly ?
I went for a not ludicrously expensive build with softcapped melee/AoE def and about 38% ranged, and for recharge stuck force feedback procs in SC/LR/Tstrike and the epic energy torrent. I see the howling twilight icon that indicates the +rech period come up often from the latter two, but rarely/never see it from the first two. That said my powers recharge fast enough that I feel they may be working.
Anybody know for sure ? -
What I don't understand is why the maintenance had to move by 2 hours in the first place.
If the old time was more convenient to the Antipodeans, then why not go back to it, given that I've not seen a single post saying that the new time is more convenient to anybody.
