You can have >> 70 salvage slots.
You start with 50 at lvl 50, all the ones from crafting badges(18), plus 5 for being a 66 month vet, plus 10for the salvage bag bought with vanguard merits, selling 50 salvage at WWs awards you 2 for a total of 85. -
Quote:Pool Bs drop at your level, others at the level of the mobs. Now I may be wrong because I havent done this for awhile, but if youre 40, 50 and exemp via Ouro to 26-30 for example and go to Dark Astoria don't you get lvl 26-30 recipes depending on enemies levels??
Merit rolls are at your level, which is the normal reason for locking a toon at 33 so you can drop the maximum level IOs useful in Siren's. -
Quote:Close the quote after .exe then add the -test.I have a big question, i have done everything you said to do on installing test server, i even named it the same thing for purpose of ease. but after i copied the shortcut of the cohtest updater and pasted it to my desktop, i go to change the target line by adding "-test" after ".exe", i get this message, "The name 'C:\Documents and Settings\jackfortman\Desktop\cohupdater.exe -test' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct. "
please help me!! i feel dumb but idk what else to do but ask lol.
...cohupdater.exe" -test
not
...cohupdater.exe -test" -
I wonder if it still uses the old trial code. I forget the exact numbers, but stuff used to set something like even con with 1-4, +1 with 5-7, +2 with 8 on the team.

Quote:This is correct, although not a problem for most attacks, fireball is the exception I know, in that it does fire/smash but is only tagged as fire. Ice blast and BIB are tagged as cold and smashing.I thought I heard somewhere that the multiple damage-type attacks have to be tagged as such for that to help. So a ranged ice attack with smash damage would have to be tagged as ice and smash before your S/L defense did anything to help. I'm pretty the same person clarified it as: Resistance checks damage types, Defense checks damage tags (or something to that effect).
Can anyone confirm that? -
Quote:My only circus character Kablooie the clown is a 20 ish hero, if there's any RWZ stuff (or AE in RWZ) done, will join you.Next week is the Cirque du Sinistre performance, so get your circus characters ready for a laugh a minute spectacle of carnage.
And of course it won't happen anyway due to I17. -
Quote:Can do DB/stone, but not claws/stone. I have done a Stone/DB tank, but not that impressed with it.I thought you cant do DB/stone?
Anyway - My stone/ice tank runs soft capped to s/l/e/n out of granite but that is a heavt IO build filled out in the 30s. Prior to that, it's a little squishy against non s/l damage. After 32 and Granite - I rarely need to use it, so I don't. I use it as an AV/GM solution or against heavily biased non s/l/psi damage for the extra resistance.
For normal travel I use runspeed bonuses and ninja run ( I hit 65 mph with nr + sprint ). I did take tp later in the 40s, but I did most of my leveling in the AE so I'd get up to ITF level faster. -
Quote:Well I finally got TP when I started tanking STFs, and they put one AV up on a 4' high plinth with a large mob of stuff.Teleport is over-rated for stone tanks. Maps generally have plenty of ramps and notches to let non-jumpers get around. Yes, you'll need to take the long route at times, but I've never encountered a map where jumping was the only option.
I'm fortunate in that I've been around long enough that I don't have to take a prereq for TP
so it only costs me one power, but I would recommend going with TP. -
Quote:OK, what I did: (This was June/July 09)Really? How? I guess I just don't get the market thing. I've honestly been trying the last month. I've been in this forum reading everything I can. Most of the tutorials are old. I have 3 50's blue side. I've tried the "just play the game and sell everything" method. I've tried crafting and selling, I've tried a few other things listed on tuturials. That didn't get me 3 Billion. Heck the most I have on any of my 50's is (was... I started to buy some IO's) 120 Mil. I have to assume there is some basic simple thing I am missing.
I'd love to have some of the expensive IO's. And I'd love to find a way that fits my time/schedule to earn them myself. But so far I just haven't found that.
So when I see a post that says I got 3 billion in 6 weeks. It just makes me wonder.
Firstly I play a LOT. I solod a stalker 1-50 in about 3 weeks, checking the market and doing stuff every 2 or 3 missions. This was a completely fresh server, so I levelled a load of lowbies up to 6 or 10 so to get some market slots to sell my loot, and created a one man SG to have a base for storage and so I could transfer stuff between toons. A friend created a toon that could invite my alts. I actually stayed in SG mode throughout so could have earned more.
I say I earned 3BN, that was what I ended up with, but the build on the stalker probably spent most of another billion. I earned very little from playing, one 80M (at the time, would be a lot more now) purple was the only truly expensive drop I got, but I did get some decent stuff (20M type stuff not the real goodies) with the merits I earned off arcs when I rolled them at 50.
The cash was made on the market. At the time I was able to buy stacks of uncommon salvage at 10K each and sell them for 100K. The turnover time as stupid, I'd put the bids up and come back 2 missions later and that was a million a stack in profit. When you have 10 such stacks and are making 10M every half hour on a good day, that soon mounts up. This niche is no longer really worth doing.
I got field crafter (probably unnecessary, although getting the badges that give you extra salvage slots is essential), then got the badges for the level 50 common IOs that I thought I could turn a profit on. I probably approximately broke even on getting the badges. Then I'd craft a vast number of common IOs, dump them in my base and use the army of lowbies to sell them. Load them all up in the morning with stuff to sell, check/refill in the evening. If you're selling 100+ of these a day at 250K profit each, that's a nice steady income stream.
Once I got my first billion, I moved on to set IOs. I looked at the market and found recipes I could buy and craft for say 2M but that I could sell the crafted enhancement in decent numbers at 10M+. That accelerated my earning power. The next 2BN arrived fairly fast.
I've never really taken any great risks, just steady accumulation of infamy. I could probably have made inf faster, but I didn't want to risk getting caught with a stack of 10 purples when the price crashed for example so I never really went after the expensive items.
Most of my recipe niches I found by dropping the enhancement in normal play, or needing to buy one for my build, and it becoming apparent from looking at the prices that there was a profit to be made by buying the recipe and selling the crafted enhancement. -
As has been said before, play levels 1-10 in AE, roll your tickets at level 10 on 10-14 bronze rolls. You will get -KB IOs (if you get the wrong one, sell it and buy the one you do want), steadfast res/defs and lots of other goodies.
More often than not I end up with at least one -KB if I do this, but it's not guaranteed.
I started from zero on a new server, and made 3BN in 6 weeks without buying/selling anything desperately risky or expensive or playing in AE, getting hold of inf is really not difficult. -
Quote:Unfortunately they've nerfed the merits so much (both from the current live values and the lower than live early beta values) that once the initial "new shiny" feel has worn off, it's going to be as bad as the old posi was pre exemped XP for finding over max level help. Toons will do it once for the badge and move on, unlike the situation on live where if somebody wants to run it, I'll join in for the nice merit reward.I ran the first of the two new Posi TFs. It was much, MUCH better than the current version and still gave pretty much the same story in five missions instead of what, 13? And the one FedEx mission now has Azuria teleport you straight to the mission (although now the whole team has to visit her instead of just one person).
They did a really good job giving some new flavor to existing maps with details like barrels full of Vahzilok plague, a makeshift surgical ward in a sewer and other small but nifty things like that.
I didn't get to finish the final mission because our Scrapper logged out (not quit) right before the last mission, leaving my very squishy Grav/Kin Controller and the even squishier Elec/Gadgets Blaster my friend was playing to take on 3 dudes worth of mobs, and it was just taking forever to smack down the many bosses that spawned for us. I did very much enjoy what I got to play of the all new end mission, though.
Best of all, as has been mentioned, it only took about an hour, and we were playing at a slower pace so we could take in all the changes and look for bugs. -
Unless it's changed since I last ran it a very long time ago, the time limit is simply not enough to finish it unless you know what you're doing.
If you start at the top and kill your way methodically to the end, you will run out of time.
Other than the badge tourism trips with 50s that unexemped in the mish, last time I did it properly was 3 years ago and we finished with 30 seconds to spare. -
Quote:2 hours was massacring everything that got in our way, would have been less if we'd stealthed anything, I just took the 8 levels I got quite happily (12-20).While the SSK is a great feature, IMO, the +5 power levels are what make Posi no longer the nightmare-inducing Pug-slaughter fest of yonder years.
It's still a suck-fest in terms of interesting or "fun" though, again IMO, and 2 hours in it is beyond what I'd care to subject myself to. A smaller team will get it done much much faster.
The updates will drastically change opinions, and this nostalgia will never have to be made mention again. -
Quote:One thing I would say to you, the "Aaaaargh not a large team" factor has actually been removed from posi with SSK. We've done 2 8 man kill nearly all posis in the last couple of weeks in 2 hours or just over with my SG (peppercat's in the same one). It's not the same with a team SSKd to 15 as it used to be with a team of lvl 12s.Well since GP is a maybe still, we have room for a 4th. I do not like running a Posi TF with big groups. Just too many painful memories.
So far:
me (tank)
Voo (scrapper)
Vanum (our stealther!)
Peppercat (tankish toon)
GP (scrapper maybe)
That is the most I want on this run. Thanks all for signing up. I will be on my tank by Posi around 815PM EST. -
Quote:Yup, no veteran or origin attacks, no containment, soloing an ice/storm troller was no fun at lowish level.Well in the way back, before difficulty settings, some classes had real problems soloing missions. I remember my 8-14 controller not having any fun in a mission versus skull bosses. I seem to remember cursing the name Marrowsnap. I can also remember my defender having problems on occasion.
This was back in the day that debt started at level 5 and the debt cap was quite high. Scrappers and blasters were usually OK to solo due to their damage and tanks could simply survive due to their defenses and hit points.
Also no difficulty slider and a lot less content, so if you did solo, you completed every mission in the game for the level range, then had to streethunt 38-40 before you could get more missions. -
A long while back, I pointed out that suppressclosefx removed the stone mallets. You said that was trivial to fix and it was done almost instantly.
Well I'm on a fire/shield scrapper and finding my fire sword (fire scimitar option) is suppressed, needs exempting from the suppression. -
MoG's paragon protectors was what told me you need an autohit taunt of some description, feeling impotent as they massacre squishies because I can't hit them is not fun.
-
I normally play standard meatshield style tankers. My one scranker was FA/DM and I enjoyed playing him. Basically he was a good small team and solo tank, and with plenty of buffing could easily tank for large teams.

Quote:There is a slight problem with brutes, part of the fury mechanic is a pulsing effect that aggros. That said, it's not a big problem. I'd go with a stalker though, but I prefer a defence based one rather than a regen.True, ya gotta enjoy the toon
I've done some flashback farming in the past with a ss/wp brute i have (now beyond that level range) and I usually stealthed where I could. I currently have a level 20 ele/regen stalker, how does one think he'll hold up to the challenge?
I was also looking at a xx/energy brute, since they get Energy Cloak at level 20. That with super speed would make me pretty much invisible to stealth to the end, I assume it works like the other partial stealth powers. -
Chatted extensively to Lili in game about all of this.
I think one channel will do, provided it's actively moderated and if people step seriously out of line that this is not simply ignored.
There have been a few offensive personal comments over the last few days, and more when a mod actually did something about them.
I said to Lili that I thought we needed more mods, so that there was more than one on at most times, so that if actions need to be taken, then the mods can consult and anything done is not seen as the actions of one person. -
Quote:It's actually the other guy that looks like him, Angus McQueen, Tim Raymond is a villain contact. If your Scrapper can take out EBs, you might try out the "Horror of War" arc (lvls 45-50). Going rate is about 30 minutes for 18 merits.
There is also an arc by Timothy Raymond (I think it's him) in the 40-45 range called "Division: Line" and there are 13 missions in the arc and 12 can be stealthed (just glowies and/or defeat boss/minions around boss)...there is one mission where it's an actual "rescue" but the map is small/short so taking the captive back to the door is actually not bad at all.
I can do the Division: Line arc in about 1 hour and 10 mins or so...maybe cut it down to an hour...lots of traveling here though (example of the one time I wrote where the missions were: Tram, PI, Brickstown, Dark Astoria, Steel Canyon, Atlas, Crey's Folly, FF, Steel Canyon, Brickstown, Perez, PI and finally FF). So if you really want to speed through it, make sure you have the mission tp power from the booster pack, an SG base with all the teleporter pads, pocket d porter and Ouro portal. Oh and this arc gives you 33 merits. Almost double the merits of the Horror of War arc for a bit more than double the time.
I tried doing some of the other lower content story arcs (the ones that shipped with the original game...nothing like faultline/croatoa/etc) and wow...so much travel (just like the Division: Line arc except worse because sometimes you don't have a travel power!)....just not worth it to me. -
This is a truly horrible idea.
I already use all 10 global channels I'm allowed (and could do with 3 or 4 more slots), and if I'm not allowed to chat in Australia, it would make me much less inclined to play on Justice.
I understand there's been some pointless spamming of the channel, but controlling that is a moderation problem, and doesn't need another channel.
Tbh the objections to the moderator interventions that I've seen that have taken place recently have been personal and out of order, as has some of the chat. I also think setting Australia up as "silence on join" would be useful. -
Quote:QFTIMO, AE should be saved for those who actually know how to play the character they're PLing. Which is why I haven't AE'd a Controller. Because for the life of me I cant get out of Scrapperlock
Also, for a tank I wouldn't recommend dark/dark, I'd always stack dark armor with a set that can stack stuns with oppressive gloom. I had a dark/axe tank I deleted in the 30s, my dark/stone (with fault, a large AoE stun) is much better and a friend's dark/EM also works well.
The fastest way to level outside AE is to run the TFs where you get other people to cover the holes in your build. We ran an 8 man no stealth posi in just over 2 hours, I went from 12.1-19.6. If you run posi, synapse, sister, moonfire, citadel, hess with full teams, not only will you be close to level 30, but you'll also have 250+ merits in the bank and most of the atlas medallion for about 12 hours of teaming.
Tanks are pretty poor below SOs so don't expect miracles, but get to 12, slot DOs or lvl 15 IOs and go run the TFs on big teams. -
Quote:I read and indeed posted in that thread several times.Minotaur, not sure if you were reading the forum when the change was first announced, but if not, you might want to look for a thread here called "Ridiculous Extra Maintenance" or similar.
They never explained why when they combined the maintenance, they shifted it 2 hours earlier, which is what's really screwing up Aussie prime time.
