  1. With the EU/US server list merge coming, I should be able to get toons on the EU servers.

I'm wondering what would be needed in the way of modifications in loading stuff onto the computers at the venue to allow me to access my US account there from the launcher.

I will need a computer, but am happy to share one.

I would also be travelling from Norwich by train, and can tell you from experience that the cheapest way to do this is 4 single tickets, Norwich-P'boro, P'boro-Brum and vv booking specific trains, I got my return for £28 last time I went there for an OU study weekend.
  2. Yeah, old posi hasn't been frightening since SSK, exemped XP and keeping powers above your level, our SG used to knock it out in 2 hours without stealth as a kill nearly all 8 man team.

I used to duo it with a friend as 2 blasters in a little over an hour.

I also remember some of the grim all lvl 11-12 8 man teams in the early days (synapse with a similarly low level team was no cakewalk either).

The other Ouro advantage is that you can -1 it for speed. Normally takes me 90 mins or so as it seems to send you to the far end of boomtown for every other mission which it never did in the old days.
  3. Actually having extensively sampled both, Belgian beer > German beer (dives for bunker before the trouble starts). English beer is different and can't really be compared with the continental stuff, you're in apple/orange territory.

I suspect Union will be the same. The Lure of more populated servers will be strong.
Brit that plays on US servers here, and I will definitely be making toons on union and defiant as short of buying more than the 185 slots I already have, I'm full on the US servers. If anybody wants to come to Victory, we run a network of SGs and VGs called Eurocore/Shadowcore for European based players or others that play at EU friendly times (www.eurocore.org) and would welcome more people.

Most such reactors have emergency cooling systems that can be used to avert a catastrophic loss of cooling capacity. So far I haven't read or heard of any of the reactors in question using them, which suggests to me they still believe the situation can be contained, and doesn't warrant using the last card in the deck yet. If they've lost access to these, or attempt to use them and they fail, then I would start worrying.
Except that this one is a 1970 reactor according to the BBC.

Shocking stat, this earthquake was thousands of times bigger than the Christchurch one (1 mag = 30 times bigger).
  6. I play D&D 3.5 with a group of people I know from university 20+ years ago. 3 or 4 times a year, they come up to me for the weekend, leave their wives and kids and behave like students while playing D&D for 2 days. Doritos/beer/curry, then back to real life, glorious.

Not enough for me, been "marksmanned" too often, but yes less essential with 45% rech from alpha.

It's not as if people have to open the team finder and search for you to add you after communicating in chat... (since they can click on your name and invite you, even through your global)
I just put side and name in mine, and only in my SG's global channel (we have 3 SGs and 3 VGs so can't just use the SG channel). If I'm on another server, I put side and server. Most of my toons on Victory are known by name as to what they are by the rest of the SG.

For wider channels I don't bother.

Pre IOs but post ED, I did skip it on some, as I couldn't handle the extra end use it caused, but with IOs, that's much less of an issue so I tend to just take it. Usually taking hasten means you need one attack less, so it saves you 3 ish slots to take hasten instead.
  10. What I did was to play a PB who I didn't want to spend a fortune on, and I wanted to be effective, so I decided to go forms only, with human form only used out of combat (and pool power choices that reflect that like rez). Up the damage of the forms attacks by frankenslotting and using cheap procs (the lowbie KB set for example).

What I ended up with was one of the best tanks for exemping down to 20 odd (the team tend to give you 85% resists at that level now team mates give you bonuses in the forms) and few end issues. Team has a tank, you have a blaster that can tank if the tank goes down.
  11. Part of the problem is that there are a lot of bad speedruns about. People who "speedrun" an ITF in 45 minutes with bodies scattered everywhere who's be better just steamrollering in 50-55 for way better rewards.
  12. A good WST for the week RIFT launches in headstart, means I don't feel guilty about doing something else, will be back for Apex.

It reminds me how dated the old TFs are, I actually think synapse/sister were worse than posi. At least for citadel/manti you get most of your key powers, and posi was just fast and easy once SSK and exemped XP came in.

Numina is another piece of diabolical design now you don't get XP for hunts, 15 minutes of no XP while running all over the city is not my idea of fun.

Silver mantis however is fine, and a TF I quite enjoy.
  13. I like a mix of TFs. Blazing speed ITFs I find dull and frustrating, but the rewards are largely speed independent:

    Speed ITF - 25 mins, 2 shards + component worth 4 = 6
    Fast kill most - 50 mins, 8 shards + component worth 4 = 12

On the speed runs you get less purples but more merits, depends what you're after, but the shard acquisition is similar per unit time.

Kahn, I speed ran, why ? well it's pretty dull and I'm incarnating about 25 toons so running 30 or so (you could get 2 notices if you were quick) was only possible speed running.

    LGTF I ran a mixture.

Sister P I'm largely having a week off the WST, I've run 3 or 4, and a couple of SMSFs, but no shards is a huge turn off, so I tend to run them on sub 50s for the XP/merits, but the TF is deadly dull so I speed run it.

I envision running a lot of Apexes next week.

It would also be useful to know officially whether "spare" notices of the well beyond the 4 you need for your ultra rare alpha are useful anywhere else in the incarnate system or whether to just break them down for shards.
  14. Would be interested in attending, am a US player, but will either socialise or level something on an EU account for a month to play, in which case would need a comp.

A friend of ours was also last seen soloing Tin Mage yesterday afternoon. I wonder if she succeeded... Would be awesome if so!
I used to duo old posi on a regular basis in just over an hour for merits, and that was on SOd toons, with IOs you could get it under an hour easily, it's a myth how bad old posi was once SSKing and exemped XP came in so you weren't trying to do it with a team of level 12s.

And yes, the yellow mitos might be a little awkward, you need melee damage really (they have huge ranged and AoE defence, so non positional psi damage also works, but only mind and illusion have that).

  17. One account, over 180 toons, 36 on Victory, 28 on justice, at least 12 everywhere else, 61 50s. 7 years of alting.

Have finally controlled it because I realised there were no more combinations I wanted to make. So moar proliferation and new sets please, and some more free server transfers so I can get some of my 21 50s off Victory

Not sure why all the hype of why this one is so hard..its awesome and not that difficult!
Because if you don't have a MM/def or lots of debuffing or ridiculous damage, Reichs recovers while invulnerable as much as you can do while he isn't, so you get 2 hours of frustration.

I've seen teams that could easily cope with Kahn be unable to get anywhere with Cuda.
  19. Not sure what prices are doing on these, but I've A-merited 3 of these, slotted 1, sold 2 for 4BN each, bought one off market for 2BN.

Has anybody tried the lost curing wand on the rikti AVs in the LGTF ?
  21. Another vote to merge the server lists.

There is a sizable community of Euro players on the US servers who would love to play with our brethren on the Euro servers. A load of us started before the Euro servers existed, and had way too many toons to wish to transfer over at Euro startup.

A merged server list and some free transfers, and I suspect the Euro servers would get a welcome shot in the arm population wise.

Would also allow me to free up some of the 36 used slots on my main US server (Victory where a lot of the Euros hang) and give me somewhere else to play and create new toons.
  22. Something I've been noticing intermittently with tips and V-merits in particular, but not with salvage.

Been clearing some Borea missions to get V-merits for a couple of my toons.

On my granite, I was running +0x8 with bosses, and at no point did I get a V-merit off the first 3 groups I faced in a mission, ran about 4 or 5 missions.

On my blaster, I was running +0x2 no bosses. So spawn size was usually 5, and for the first 5 missions, I didn't get a V-merit in the first 5 spawns. Indeed in 2 of the missions I didn't get a V-merit at all before completion (6 and 7 groups).

Once V-merits start to drop in a mission, they seem to drop normally for the rest of that mission.

Have had this experience with tips in the past, where I'll kill ludicrous numbers of badguys (2000+ in one case) with no tips, and then once they start to drop, you'll get the next two in reasonable time. (and yes I do know how tip eligibility works, that wasn't the issue).

It doesn't always happen, but there just seems to be occasional days where it does, I'm wondering how the drops are handled and whether something has to "synch up" before you can drop tips or V-merits, and until it does, you won't get any.
  23. A friend respeced his ice tank, went on the LGTF and found out rather quickly he'd forgotten to take the energy defence toggle.

Played with a level 50 emp who'd skipped recovery aura (but not regen aura), fort, AB and CM.

Also played with a FF/nrg that skipped the ally bubbles, but had all the repels. (and this was PLd n00biness not deliberate solo build).

I have a toon that would look very odd to anybody that didn't experience the game pre ED, I retired my DM/regen when IH became a clickie, so he's still got 6 slot hasten/stamina, 1 end 5 heal slotted toggles, 1 acc 5 dam slotted attacks etc.

Well on the 25 runs I did, I think it's unlikely we had perfect teams on all of them. The first 11 runs were all 27-37 mins, and the technique was similar every time, pull the AVs to Reichs, and if we were in anyway nervous, focus on the other AV and hit Reichs with splash damage, if we weren't do the reverse and fight as many AVs at a time as survived (we almost never had to fight 5 at once as the first of the adds usually died before the final one animated even if we stayed on Reichs). We did a few shard runs, and had the odd bad 45-50 minute run after that.

Most teams that aren't completely unbalanced should be fine, and even then, if you have the right temp items (envenomed daggers) or incidental debuffing (sonic blaster, drain psyche) you may get away with it. Yes the ideal team will be faster than you, but you should be able to complete with most teams.

The key to being able to guarantee to take all 5 at once is that the tank can survive, which means that the buffing is key. If you can softcap the tank's def (and keep it close even when he's stunned, so fort and cold shields for example) then you're absolutely golden, but this is more than is necessary. My PB was fine with 6 damage dealers and a troller tanking them because I kept a fair bit of my resists from the other team members while stunned.

I suggested something like this a long while ago, the second account would need to be inseparably linked to the original, or somebody would try to make real dollars by selling newbies accounts with 81 months of vet rewards.

This might persuade me to pay for a second account but probably not, I would however be happy to pay a one off fee for more slots on my chosen servers. I have >180 toons on my account, at least 12 on every server, 36 on Victory, 28? on Justice. 61 50s now which I will not delete, as all have been played pretty much all the way without farming or PLing. I've archived 50s off Victory onto other servers to roll more toons on Victory during the free server moves, and could do with another round of those as I have 18 50s there atm.

At the moment, I have no more toons I want to roll, but come the next round of proliferation or new sets, I will want more.
