  1. It should be very possible. I remember Silverado soloing AVs with an Ice/Cold corrupter.

My suggestion is to aim for at least 33% ranged defense (This way you are softcapped with a small purple), 45% would be ideal though. After that just stack as much recharge as you can so you can get Heat Loss and Benumb up as often as possible. Depending on your tastes Aid Self could also be useful.

This of courser all comes in after you fix any end issues, as there is a decent chance of the fight going long.
  2. At first glance it looks fine, but without mids (had to reformat my hard drive recently). I am not really able to check it out precisely. My Old Rad/Son solod GMs very easily. The key is Ranged defense and enough recharge to keep LR up at all times. I used the attack chain of Shriek Scream Shriek Dominate.

I would drop the fighting pool and pick up Hover and Fly. 2 slot sephyr in each to free up slots and one more power choice. Not to mention Fighting is a big end drain you really dont need. Soloing GMs with a rad/sonic is more about endurance then anything. If you can survive and not run out of end chances are you will get there eventually.

I could make a recording of my troller but ... well, I havent seriously played her in months so it would be messy. Really messy. Especially considering her secondairy is Storm.
  4. Oh, I understand that this is going to be totally unnessacery.

This entire illconceived advetnure was inspired by some of Nihilii comments on her scrapper. Mostly I wanted to see how a high end WP build could compare to Invuln.
  5. I know you said Auri was a SM/WP with her first build, and normally I would go for what your saying and slot for a mixture of set bonuses.

But, I actually want to push this charecter for the most survival I possibly can while still having the DPS to down an AV.
  6. Thanks for the advice there Perfi, but a few things.

I actually agree with you on Tremor now. The only reason I still have it is becuase of the Obliteration set. It covers quite a few nice bonuses including S/L defense. The fact that it gives me a little AoE is just fluff.

As for dropping Stone Fists, I was looking at numbers and its actually better DPA then Stone Mallet. So if I were to drop anything from the chain that would be it.

Also, I have fault, and use it religiously.
  7. So, Ive had this charecter for probaby 5 to 6 months or so now. Shes spent 90% of that time at level 38 not getting played.

Recently I went back and decided to see what she could do, and was pleasently suprised to where Im now looking into IO possibilitys for her. Ive currently got a build in which I have soft cap to S/L damage, but I was wondering if its possible for Willpower to actually soft cap to everything?

My other question, is about Stone Melee. Im guessing the best possible attack chain, would be something like Seismic Smash - Stone Fist - Heavy Mallet -Stone Fist - Stone Mallet - Stone Fist . But this is all just guess work on my part. As while I understand the concepts the exact numbers of things like arcanatime tend to Elude. So any help is welcome.
  8. I know its kind of a common pairing, but my Thugs/Dark can handle up to +2/x8 without to much trouble against most groups. Though, Nemesis tends to give me issues what with stacked vengeance.

    GMs

So, earlier today I felt reminiscant of my deleted Rad/Sonic defender. This led me to put my Thugs/Dark up against a few GMs out of curiosity.

Eochai was actually rather easy. Im not sure why but I was able to down him twice with almost no actual effort on my part. Just BG mode and spamming Challenge and Twilights Grasp.

Scrapyarder on the other hand, was quite a pain. Becuase of all his friends I had to take my minions out of BG mode. Which meant tanking him with only minor defense and my debuffs. Even after this, it still took me quite a while to finish him off.

Now, I had a couple of questions.

    1. Why is it that Eochai was so much easier? when to my knowledge the Croatoa GMs should be in approx. the same level range as far as resists and such go. Asside from the obvious mobs. Even with my pets focused on Scrapyarder he didnt drop half as quickly.

    2. I remember another MM posting a video of his fight with Scrapyarder a while back, mostly just curious who that was.

Awesome thanks Broken, Ill play around with that a bit. If I change anything Ill post it back up.

    Katana/Fire

Alright, well then any advice on getting that last 5% to range? Im willing to let AoE suffer a little as I still have my resists to back that up. But Range/Melee I would like to keep at 45 at least if possible.

    Katana/Fire

Hey, so this is my first scrapper to hit 50. As I was playing with mids I hit a road block. And while I can get close to soft cap thanks to Divine Avalanche, I dont think I actually can soft cap without totally gimping my attack chain.

Any advice or obvious things I might have missed? Heres my build.

Same could be said about my Rad/Rad corr and Rad/Rad defender and dark/dark corr and dark/dark defender.

The reason for this is because the damage loss going from Def -> Corr is significantly more than the support gain going from Corr -> Def. Since Damage naturally acts as a form of damage mitigation, the extreme damage deficiency for defenders makes them weaker at supporting the team than corruptors. This becomes even more apparent the more support ATs are added to the team.

Also the FotM trends in this game have always shifted to either easy to solo builds and/or farming builds. This is why you see more scrappers than tankers and more controllers than defenders. Given the choices between corr and def, the majority is going to shift for corruptors because of the earlier attacks and the ability to farm rapidly.

No one is saying there will be zero defenders when we say GR is going to kill defenders, we're talking majorities. Such as 9 corruptors for every 1 defender kind of majority.
Ok, you make a decent point. I havent seen both sides of the fence, though my Corr did just hit 50 thanks to DXP weekend, the builds are completely different so I still cant claim a decent comparison.

However, while there will be a good number of people that will prefer Corrs. I highly doubt it will be as skewed as you think.
  15. Yes, and with high end set IO builds, Any combonation of the following couild do it.

    Dark/, Rad/, Cold/, Storm/

    And

    /Sonic, /Ice.

Keep in mind some builds do it easier then others.

Oh, and in i16 I imagine Traps/ will be capable of it as well. I would even say /AR might, if you can get the AV immobalized inside of stacked Ignite patches.
  16. Man I agree, defenders suck. We need a damage buff devs ... seriously, I want more damage becuase you know, soloing these AVs is just to slow.

*sigh* Really people, defenders are for the patient and the min maxer, preferably both.

Also, as for Going Rogue killing defenders. Not going to happen, I love defenders but can never seem to enjoy a corruptor. Im sure I cant be the only person with that problem.
  17. Hi, Im Tornelco. Im the guy that tells you to play Rad/Sonic. I can proudly say it killed the game for me.

Yeah, I don't use shout when I'm trying to fight GMs. Just cycle shriek and scream. Maybe toss in electric fence if neither one is recharged just yet.

Even with LR on the mob, though, I barely make any headway at all. I just don't see it happening. If there's someone who has a "GM killer" build for a rad/sonic, I'd love to see it. Because right now, I have pretty much zero chance against them, despite everything I've tried.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I dont haefv the library of GM defeats that Silverado has. though that is mostly due to a lack of patience, not failure of my build.

A few changes, due to mids not having pvp IOs in it. MoB is slotted with both 3% defense IOs, and I have the Panacea set minus the proc in Rad Aura.

    Anyways, you asked.

Being fair, I thought I was purchased in packs of twelve at the supermarket, but that may be eggs. I get them confused some times.

You heard it here, Talen Lee was hatched from eggs. That explains the cool.

There are a couple of interesting points here that touch on a variety of areas. For example:<ul type="square">[*]Defenders are less likely to be stupid? Eh, I don't think so. I've seen many a defender with one attack in their forties. I've seen more than a few defenders whine about running out of support powers to take and being 'forced' to take something in their epics that can deal damage.[*]Controllers' buffs and debuffs are less than defenders. That's true. On the other hand, mezzing a spawn for the entirety of its life makes the cuteness of forcefields rather redundant, for example. When comparing a controller's buffs/debuffs to the buffs/debuffs of the defender, remember the controller will usually contribute some damage, and often in many cases, some control too, which relieves the need to lean on his buffs/debuffs. In many cases, this can be a bit of a pain for the defender, where the controller provides less, but needs to provide less.[*]Defender damage isn't great. Well, I suppose it's not. My empathy/archery doesn't feel like he hits like a truck, but then if he did, something would be very wrong because there are other archetypes that do it. Would it be nice to feel like I did more? I suppose so, but then it wouldn't really be fair to the other archetypes that don't have any buffs or debuffs worth a damn.[*]Tornelco's build costing a lot... well, yes, do you think soloing GMs and AVs should be cheap and easy? Go ask the scrapper boards how many of them did their av-soloing builds on the cheap. Same with the controllers.[*]Sonic Blast is awesome. I totally agree. Ironically I have a hard time enjoying playing it because the animations annoy me.[*]Dominators are being adjusted to have both their roles considered equally important. Maybe that's a wet test for the defender. I doubt it, but that can give people a smidgen of hope.[*]So, you don't like how defenders do damage? Okay, neat. You see those other ATs out there? Try them, maybe they'll have something you like. I know I like corruptors but don't like defenders as much. That's not indicative of a problem, that's indicative of taste. There are a bunch of guys in this thread who seem to really enjoy their defenders and don't feel they lack for damage.[*]It's late. Who are you people and where's my horse?[/list]

    Do you teach cool lessons?

    Well stated Talen.

And no, Talen doesnt give cool lessons. Someone as cool as Talen is not made, they are born.

So we all agree that because a single 1 Billion Influence Ultra Cheezy Build Rad/Sonic can do ok damage that defender damage is therefor ok?

    Works for me.

I like Defenders in teams btw. They are almost as good as an endless inspiration tray.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, everyone seems to base their controller arguments on Ultra cheezy fire/kinetics builds. Seems fair to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

1 billion influence? ... God I wish, I reach that point with just my Glad Armor unique and 2 purple of the five purple sets I run.

And ... Yeah well ... if you want a defender to do damge build for it. Dont take some lower damage combo then whine.

What do controllers have that beats Sonic Blasts?

Im going to say nothing. Becuase really stacking -res is just absurd.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doubled damage through containment? It benefits the controller alone, but is still the equivalent of automatic, non-stacking -100% DR to anything that you can immobilize (PToD doesnt' protect from immobilize, do they?)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Touche, however the -res is a better imo because we can still double our damage and it double the damage of the rest of the team as well.

Take a Rad/Son &amp; Cold/Son each comparably IOed. Solo some pylons (use insps, no temps, or bring a tank to just Taunt). Post numbers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Why would you need Insps?
  24. This is my current build, although there are a few changes I cant show with mids. Mostly that I have the Galdiators Armor 3% defense slotted in the second slot for MoB and that I have the Panacea set slotted in Radiant Aura.
