  1. Yes, both the Council and the 5th count toward those badges.

  5. The Mastermind section is a good place to start, especially the Sticky at the top of that forum, titled Mastermind Guides and FAQs, which includes quite a few links to posts you can find in the Player Guides section, many of them relating specifically to Binds and Macros.
  6. April 2010:

    April 2010 CoH Calendar

April's Calendar features the Council MegaMech! He's found during the Hess TF.

Apparently, the text of the TF and/or Souvenir now refers to him as "The Mech Man", but I went with the old name because I like it better. lol

    May's Calendar coming soon!
  7. Good Morning, and Thank You!

And now that I have a day off, I have to get moving and make some new calendars. haha

I ran the tests from my laptop.. I suspect since we are pretty much just talking about network tests here, there is no reason to turn my main PC back on to run this test. The results would be the same.

Apparently, Java Runtime must be installed and enabled to fully complete this test:

  10. Yes, I turn 30 today! The 20s are behind me. Somehow, I feel like my 30s are gonna end up behind me before I know it too. I wonder if we'll still be in CoH by then. haha.

Good times tonight. Freakshow is a blast. We need more self-rezzing-and-easy-to-defeat foes. :P

Thanks to Luna and Goldberg for getting the team set up before I arrived! See you all for the next one!

It turns out I don't have the latest patch installed, so I couldn't get into the game to change the sound options, so I did it from the registry instead, and ran it again:

There certainly is a dramatic improvement, but with such a gimped system, it's no surprise that getting rid of an entire category of instruction would improve performance. lol

    Is everything working correctly now?

Anyone with a slow machine wanna try it - or can you radically underclock your machine somehow?

I'll run it on my laptop in a little while. That should slow things down a bit.. if it even runs at all. I'll probably have to restart between each run, just to make it doesn't skew the numbers. lol

  15. Works for me as well..

    Celerity: Steath +30
    Super Speed +35
    Total +65

Note that the Stealth values shown while in Ouroboros will be incorrect.

While on the same character in Ouroboros, it shows the same results as the OP:
    Celerity: Steath +30
    Super Speed +35
    Total +35

I thought the same thing as the OP when I checked it while in Ouroboros one time. I don't know specifically why it does that, but it might have something to do with Stealth powers being blocked there. SS still works, so that value still counts, and since the proc is in SS, it shows up on the list but is not actually calculated (/theory).

If that's where you checked it too, then zone to another city and check it again for confirmation.

  18. If you locked the file after i12, then moved a character, there is no way for the game to save that information, resulting in that character being thrown back into a default location every time.

If you deleted the file, it would result in EVERY character being thrown back into their default locations (order in which they were originally created).

As for the file never being recreated, I can't really explain that one unless you are not using the "Remember account name" option when you are logging in, or you changed capitalization of your username. Changing capitalization of password does not work, but the username still works but does not reference the same personalized files.

The file certainly does still work, and I've edited it as recently as last week and re-locked it again. All my characters appear just as I expect them to be. Here is my file as an example, so you can follow it's format to make your own again:

    C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\account_name\playerslot.txt
    Code:

    "account_name" "Freedom" "Master-Blade" "0"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Teal Tabby" "1"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Bonfires" "2"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Nurse Smurfette" "3"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Midnight Meow" "4"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "PPD Hardsuit" "5"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Phanta-Rad" "6"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Star'goyle" "7"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Shooting Star'" "8"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Magenta Meow" "9"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "King-Rushmore" "10"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Mattie" "11"

    "account_name" "Freedom" "Master-Blades" "12"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Robin Rogue" "13"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Longbow Spy-duh" "14"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Amethyst Automaton" "15"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Bonfire Blade" "16"
    "account_name" "Freedom" "Longbow-Traitor" "17"

    "account_name" "Champion" "Malachite Tabby" "0"
    "account_name" "Champion" "Soldier Doll" "1"
    "account_name" "Champion" "Lazurite DrZ" "6"

    "account_name" "Liberty" "Earth-lektra" "6"

    0-11 is the first page
    12-23 is 2nd page
    24-25 would be 3rd page

In my example, it shows my Hero toons From freedom on the first page, then my villain toons on the second page. Those extra line breaks inbetween sections are in the actual file, and do nothing but provide me with easier editing. The game skips right over them when it reads the file.

I separated each server as well, and Champion's list is separated Hero/Villain on the first page as 0-5/6-11. This is my own personal preference, and you can sort yours however you wish, but the point is that the file still works when used correctly.

Note that you DON'T have to put the toons in any kind of order when you make your list. As long as the toon's name, server name, and the position is there, it will put that toon in that position on that server. In fact, I believe the game's original file shows the list in reverse. I just re-order it for the ease of re-editing later.

Even though the "problem was fixed", I still prefer to lock the file anyway. I don't want to take the chance of an accidental drag adding more unneeded lines or a future bug ruining my file.

I don't see any significant difference, but maybe the numbers mean more to you.
I dunno. There it is anyway.
  20. It seems that when a Curing Wand is crafted, everybody on the team gets one, whether they have already done that arc or not. Originally, I thought the wand was somehow tied to the souvenir for the arc, and vanishes if it notices you already did that mission, but after reading your post, it seems it will vanish if you don't have the mission yet/anymore and/or if the mission is not selected as active task for the team. That does seem silly.

It is intended to disappear, yes, but it seems not enough error-checking got put into that one.

Well, if you clean it up a bit and defrag the memory being used, it will usually increase performance. When the system tries to read/write to little bits and pieces of free space scattered all over the drive, it can take considerably longer.

This was back before I knew you could only add a retail code once for the free 30 days, so I ended up giving away a couple as gifts, and made accounts out of the rest. I used the secondary account to help promote my own toons in my SG, to help store some items in a secondary storage SG (before we had personalized permissions), and to help myself do heal-farms overnight.

Yeah, I have heard of it acting funny too at times. Either way, I thought it was worth mentioning in case somebody tries to upgrade both accounts on the same day and gets denied.

Here's the specifics on the policy from the Support site:
    Online Code Purchase Limits
    Quote:
I am trying to purchase another serial code through the web site, but am told that I cannot purchase any more. Why is this?

We have implemented new purchase limits to help prevent fraudulent credit card use. These limits restrict the number of codes which can be purchased for each product per household and/or credit card used within a certain timeframe.

This is a system-wide security measure. Trying to purchase past the limit on a different or new account will result in the following error.

You have reached the maximum limit of serial code purchases allowed at this time. For more details on these limits, visit our Knowledge Base article for Online Code Purchase Limits.

If you wish to purchase more than the number of codes allowed per timeframe, you will need to visit a different online retailer or a local retailer to purchase additional copies of the game. We do not have the ability to override these limits on an individual basis.

Commonly referred to as the "Matrix Room", and since it's not intended for us to go there, I doubt they'd put a badge there. I did feature that room in one of my earlier calendars last year though:
    June 2009 CoH Calendar

On a side note, the Monkey Island underground door glitch is not the only way to get there. There is at least one hole in the "border" of the map that allows you to pass through it and swim far enough until there isn't any more water and then fly back under it to the Room's location. It actually takes about the same amount of time to get there, but without having to relog. Also, if somebody is already there, they can just TP others there, but be careful.. you CAN get in trouble for TPing people there, especially if it's without their knowledge and/or if they don't have a TP power or Ouro portal to get back out of it on their own.

On another side note, the underground/hidden door trick works in a few other zones too.
