I would definitely doublecheck the "save as.." folder designated in that program. The files have to be somewhere.
What if you did a search for the files by name on the Computer as a whole? That should find the directory they are in. -
Bumping your thread without providing any further information is against the forum rules.
Also, it's the middle of the night.. I suggest you wait more than just a few hours (usually 24) to give more people time to see your thread. The people who routinely help people in this forum will see it anyway. The forum indicates new unread threads since people were last logged in, so there is no need to bump it for us.
As for your problem.. have you tried doing a "verify files" to see if it's the animation/texture file itself that might be the problem? -
You have Driver version 186.18, which many people using CoH with Vista/7 have reported problems with. You are using XP, so you should be fine, but it couldn't hurt to grab the 185.85 instead, if that seems to help.
Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with your CoH_Helper report, other than you pasted it twice. lol
Can we get a HiJackThis report as well? Maybe it's another application having a conflict with CoH. -
Is there any crash error that might give us more information?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Are you opening 2 instances of the SAME client? That is to say are you clicking on the COH icon and opening the client and then as it's starting up are you clicking on the icon again and opening the client a second time? If you do this you are SURE to crash. What's happening (and this happened to me back in I1 before my friend who is a wiz in computers pointed it out) is that both clients are trying to read from the same source files in some cases simultaneously. So your first client instance that is running say Generic Hero 01 and the second one that is running Generic Hero 02 are drawing from the same files in C:/Programme Files/City of Heroes.
To prevent this from happening you need to install another copy of the game on your computer say in C:/COH2 and then create another shortcut for the exe file and drag it to your desktop. That way you can open up each client using a different icon which leads to it's own game folder. That way you'll never have a conflict of game files and no more crashes
[/ QUOTE ] This is completely false. You only need one client installed to run multiple instances. Many people do it regularly every day. The only thing you can't do is have more than one copy of the UPDATER open at the same time. Once the game is loaded, you can open the updater again to run another copy (or you can use a shortcut that bypasses the updater to run several copies instantly).
Yes, both instances of the game will use the same source files, but there is nothing wrong with that. The only way that would cause a problem is if the files changed depending on what was going on in the game at the time. This is not the case. The source files don't change.. ever.. (except during patching), so there is nothing to worry about.
If there is a conflict between the two clients running, then it's happening within your memory, not in the source directory... and if that's the case, you've got more problems going on that a separate directory wouldn't fix anyway.
Installing a second client is wasteful and messy... unless you need it to run the EU client... and even that uses the same files too. lol
As for the OP's issue, can we get a CoH_Helper and HiJackThis report so we have more information about what might be going on? -

I would think this is a general question and should and is answered here instead of making a big deal and asking it to be moved to base construct section lol.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if it had been in the base section, they would of gotten an answer in 1 post, not 4 or whatever.
[/ QUOTE ] They did get the answer in the first reply... one minute later. -

I was on with my bots MM the other day and had to deal with the shame of being shown up by a thugs MM who could make his pets ;drumlow while my bots just stood around doing nothing.
It was a sad, sad day.
[/ QUOTE ] Indeed, the bug that Zombie posted is not necessarily the same thing the OP is referring to. There is apparently a new bug preventing certain specific pets from using animations... which isn't because of the broken code issue. -

Actually, since I think I-14 you can do a Patron Arc, get the Badge and chose whatever Patron you want immediately. No need to Respec. The Patron Power Respec was made to allow a late adopter (say lvl45 when finished with the Patron Arc) to adjust their build to take the Patron Power Pools at the Lvl 41 point during the PP Respec. So, if you finish the Patron Arc at Lvl 40, there is no need to Respec; just take the Patron Power Pool you want at 41. At least that's what I did with a toon that hit 41 after Issue 14 dropped.
[/ QUOTE ] This.
Doing ANY Patron arc simply unlocks all the Patrol pools now. You can pick any one you want, and you can respec into a different one any time you want as well. -

Yup, you better get up to level 20. I haven't heard of any other way to get a costume.
Five times in a row.
In one thread.
Nope, not at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why, there is, in fact, a way to get another costume slot even from level one, let me explain...
Be a Soldier of Arachnos or a Widow Villain Epic ArcheType.
Hah!
[/ QUOTE ] Isn't it granted after a lvl 5-10 arc or something?
Edit:
It's from a lvl 10+ arc.
How do you get it early at lvl 1? -

Wow. Doom. Haven't seen THAT code in forever.
[/ QUOTE ] And for those who don't know.. that's not a "Dooooom" post, but one referring to the game, Doom... where
"iddqd" was God Mode. lol -

Were you Solo both times?
If not, were you inside the mission when the last one was completed?
Were you on the same difficulty scale for both of them? (Heroic.. Invincible) -

As long as you're not gaining any benefit from it and it's not interfering with others playing the game, it should be fine.
[/ QUOTE ] This. If it was attacking people, it'd be considered griefing, and you could get in trouble if somebody /petitioned you for it... but this scenario seems harmless.
[/ QUOTE ]Especially since it doesn't attack anyone.
[/ QUOTE ] Indeed. I assumed people already knew that. -

If you have powers in the tray, Right clicking on the big number is usually the easiest way to get the "Close Tray" menu to open. -

Also worth noting: It adds perception based on your BASE perception. Base perception is 500 feet, so the 20% that the +Perception IO adds would make it 600 feet. Any OTHER perception bonuses from Tactics, Targeting Drone, Focused Senses, Danger Sense, etc. are applied AFTER the +Perception IO.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that true? so effectively that IO makes all those powers (FA, Tactics, TD, etc) better for making the BASE perception into a higher number?
That would've been good to know back when PvP mattered and hunting stalkers was fun :-/
[/ QUOTE ] IIRC, all bonuses are applied to base values separately and simply stack with each other. That's true for Damage, Tohit, regen, recovery, etc..
In other words, no, those powers do not become more powerful. He was just pointing out that it's 20% of the base itself, not 20% of your total with powers running. -

[ QUOTE ]
Global: This enhancement functions as a set bonus and is always on, even if in a toggle that is turned off or even if the power is greyed out because of exemplaring. However, the bonus of this Special IO is turned off if one exemplars more than three levels below the level of the Special IO itself.

Sign me up on Project 64B again. Mebbe I'll actually get in?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if you would have been there last night by 10:30pm you would have been in...
[/ QUOTE ]That's what being 5 minutes late will get me, I guess.
[/ QUOTE ] IIRC, we were still a man short at 10:30 and had to recruit somebody that didn't even sign up.
Based on my post history from last night, and E's screenshot of the SF Stat box.. I say we didn't start until about 10:40, making you at least 10 minutes late.
Either that.. or you were in GV2, instead of GV1. -

BUH? I haven't done it for a bit, I'll have to see what is up with that. I thought I was still able to breakdance with several binds set to clap, dance, drumdance, hand and walllean, but ... I haven't done that in a while either. That'd suck if they HAVE to complete.
[/ QUOTE ] If I had to guess, they might have changed it again because of the "humping" people were doing. I don't see any other reason for it unless it's just another side-effect of something else that changed. It's not the first time this happened. -

Are you sure you're not just talking about the hide/show UI button?
[/ QUOTE ] That's exactly what disable2d is. lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Right, but it's not called disable2d in the options/keymapping menu, which may be where some of the confusion is coming in. It's called disable UI.
[/ QUOTE ] It doesn't matter. Selecting that option in the keybind menu binds ++disable2d to the key of your choice.
In short YES, that's exactly what we are talking about... whether or not that option was set by default at some point or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
If someone says "No, I never had disable2d bound by default" and then turns around and says "Hey, I had disable UI bound by default" don't you think it's relevant?
[/ QUOTE ] That's not what happened. Zombie never changed his story, nor did any of the rest of us. And I'm pretty sure he knows that 2d and UI are the same thing.. not just from my past experience reading his posts, but even seeing his response about it in this very thread referencing both terms.
The point is, the default has changed over time... which is what caused the initial confusion.
Either way, KitsuneKnight initially brought up the command as a joke, and we were only debating how "Evil" the joke really was (based on whether or not the bind was still a default). I'm fairly certain we've come to the conclusion that it's no longer a default (regardless if it was at some point in the past), but it's still not a "dangerous" command to use, and is not very hard to reverse.
We straightened this out already and have been off-topic for a while now... -
<QR>
Bind/Macros created previous to when it broke were still working.. or at least they were for me (yes, even post i13, and post i14)... but now, none of them work at all.
On a side note, I found a weird bug that allows me to make the pets speak in [NPC] chat instead of [Pet]..
/macro TEST petsay Here is some text in PET chat.<em none>Here is some text in NPC chat after a 1.5s delay.<em none>Here is some more text in NPC chat after another 1.5s delay.
BTW, that even worked before the <em> commands broke. -

I'm taking a minute out of my Sunday afternoon to praise you for your work. Put your seatbelt on.
It's one thing to be playing the game all the time. It's another thing ENTIRELY to be willing to sit down and impose order on the lolchaos that online gaming represents. It requires a few basic things: Determination, relaxed attitude, firm guidance, clarity of thought and speech, and the ability to step up and lead in a situation where everyone wants to be led.
[/ QUOTE ] She certainly has determination. She's been at this 20 weeks straight so far without fail. I'm glad I got involved and am honored to have been Freedom's designated 2nd-team Leader all these weeks.
Many people give me credit and thank me for hosting, but as I've said before.. it's been Luna organizing everything and deciding what the teams are each week. I wouldn't have the patience to do what she does, and I've sent praise in her direction on several occasions.
These events have kept me playing, kept me interested, and if it wasn't for this weekly event, Phanta-Rad would have never been created and reached 50.
Luna.. FTW!

This belongs in the Base Threads Section. Please move this to there.
[/ QUOTE ] LoL
Not really. It was a basic question, and it was quickly answered. It doesn't necessarily belong here nor there specifically. It has nothing to do with Base Construction anyway, so I would have also chosen this forum as the appropriate place to post.
On a side note, simply posting "move this" doesn't move a thread. You'd have to notify a Mod.
