Try simply deleting Coh.checksum and try it again.
-and/or-
The permissions issue sometimes results from the file trying to update itself while it's being run. Open your task manager and make sure there are no remnant copies of cityofheroes.exe still running in the background. Copy the updater to the desktop and run it from there, and try again. -
TinyUrl is a redirect which works for hyperlnks of course, because the browser is told to go to the original source page once it gets to the TinyUrl, but that sort of thing isn't going to work for linking to a direct object source. You'd be linking to a webpage that redirects to an image, instead of to the image directly, which is not how the IMG tags are designed to function.
There is a different site, TinyPic that should work just fine for images.
Then again, using the site above is no different than re-hosting on a site that doesn't use the ~, and as pointed out, there are ways around the ~ malfunction anyway. lol -

Yep, new forum, and new code, so all previous links no longer work.
It's a work in progress. -
#1: Don't do this:
#2: Do this:
lol. (joke)
More seriously though, IE seems to sometimes hold rendering until the whole page is loaded, especially when the whole page is within a single table layout, and when there is an interruption in loading, it may cause nothing to be displayed at all. This doesn't mean that everybody will have the same problem, or that it will happen all the time, but refreshing should fix it up for you. I don't know of any preference or tweak to fix it automatically for you.
Another possible cause could be the stability of the new forums. I've run into a few slow page-loads myself. It might be possible that IE is getting a response from the server and saying it's "Done", but the database information from the php code is being slow or non-responsive causing only a blank page is displayed... Firefox seems to just give me an error like "There was an error loading this web-page."
Again, hitting "Refresh" or "Try again" fixes it up for me every time. -

Make sure you don't already have 3 tasks in your mission window. Even if it says "Return to contact", it will prevent you from obtaining a mission from another contact. Visit/call your contact to clear the slot, then try the City Rep again.

Quote:It's because the wall texture is transparent on the other side, giving them line of sight. This is such a LAME problem from a programming perspective.
Here's a clue for you so called developers: If line_of_sight_check returns true for the mob to a player or minion, and line_of_sight_check does not return true from them to the mob, there's a geometry bug. The only exceptions I can think of would be easy to delimit cases involving placate or something similar, and that shouldn't affect the basic line of sight check anyway.
It requires ONE extra geometry check per attack. If there's a geometry bug, fix it NOW, not later.
If you ever manage to get under a map or zone and fly around, you'll find that you can see and attack foes from underground/underwater and they can't attack you back either. The only way I can think of to "fix" this is to make the line_of_sight check in both directions, instead of just from caster to target. I am not sure how that would affect the timing of powers, and it seems like a lot of extra work just to account for scenarios such as this (which has already been dealt with in other ways). As I said above, leaving the room and getting out of range or LoS usually causes them up jump back into the map.
And the reason they get stuck in the first place (in my opinion), is because the knockback only checks the floor texture's horizontal distance to the wall, not taking into account the vertical space or the size of the model being knocked_back/spawned into the new location, which causes them to "get up" on the outside of the wall if it is slanted.
Another trick if you have pets: You can sometimes summon them outside the wall by placing your recticle as close to the wall as you can. Then they can kill the foe for you. -
Quote:ROFL. Changing the picture of a competitor. Priceless.Exactly.
The pictures I'm linking to are screencaps from my friend's eBay ad, and then from the eBay ad of one of his competitors. And serious eBay sellers do check the compitition out, so I have no idea why the guy thought it was alright to completely copy of the ad's hi-points.
Well, that's what they get for trying to rip you/him off. haha -

Thank You. I've already grown to love this new forum. It seems to run a little slower, but it has many great features... like being able to post thumbnail previews of my calendars in my sig! They've gotten a lot more notice in the past couple of days. I've gone from 60aug/15sept hits a day to 150aug/90sept each day. Than again, it might have to do with it being a new month now as well. lol
I'm glad people are liking them. I'll keep it up. Thank you again. -

I think he means that his settings are just not sticking.
Like Mandu said, those particular settings are on the client, not on your character, so it's just a matter of getting them to stay. That option window is a little buggy for some people though. Once you click apply, DO NOT close the window, and simply log out. That sometimes forces it to stick. Or you can try using Tweak CoH to set the options instead.
The window (map, target, chat, powers) position and sizes are saved on each character though, so those you would have to save your preference using a /wdwsave, then load it onto a character with /wdwload. Chat tabs can be set with /chatsave and /chatload. All other options that have nothing to do with graphics can be set with /optionsave and /optionload. -
I thought we were gonna do it. We were pretty much untouchable the whole time. We just couldn't get the towers, and we couldn't keep LR focused on a single person.
Well it was fun anyway. See you next time! -

The correct text (for somebody with a base) is:Quote:You have been defeated! You can either WAIT for someone to revive you, or be rushed to either the Hospital or the Medical Center in your base. -

June 2009 CoH Calendar ("Matrix Room")
July 2009 CoV Calendar (Sister Airlia - Cimerora Contact)
August 2009 CoV Calendar (The Leviathan's Tomb - Patron Arc mission in Sharkhead)
September 2009 CoH Calendar (Hero 1's Time Capsule)
The links have always been in my Signature, but the new forum lets me advertise and link them a little better with nice little thumbnail images. Long live the new forums and the ability to post images! Let's see how long that lasts. lol
The calendars are 1280x960 and designed to be printed out and used for easy TF/event planning. I also use it as my Windows desktop wallpaper. They are not in widescreen format, so if you have a widescreen monitor, you can avoid distortion by using the "Center" option and choosing a suitable background color for the border.
I'll keep it up. I already have a handful of ideas and screenshots ready to last us until the end of the year. By then, hopefully we'll have some more new content to showcase as well. Thank you again. -
Quote:To expand on this, I selected the few forums that I browse regularly and used the "Subscribe to Forum" feature (under Forum Tools while browsing). Then I bookmarked my User CP so that I only see the ones I picked. I love it.http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=547
Try using that, or click on the English subfolder heading, and book mark it. (which is the above link) -
Yes, but nobody ever said that jerking around didn't have consequences. lol

Quote:Version rollback wouldn't cause a player-database rollback unless the version caused significant format changes in said database. This might be true for something like i16, but not of today's patch.I hope this doesn't mean that I'm losing the 2 levels I put on. But it probably will.
It's safe to say your character's progress will be fine. -

So does this mean the hole in Cimerora wont be fixed anymore?
