^Same as Zombie (without redundant quoting).
I'll view the forums just fine, and then suddenly it's like they don't exist, then several minutes go by and they work just fine again. -
Quote:It's a small possibility that might have been somebody's ambush that spawned on top of him. That's not always true. Many of my characters had groups of 12 or more mobs appear around them without any warning in the old Hollows. i had a low level WS get faceplanted in seconds by having over a dozen +4 Outcasts suddenly appear around him as he was resting. It's always been a rather rare event outside the old Hollows, but it can happen on occasion.
I've certainly seen that a lot, but still never close enough to be right on top of somebody. -
Quote:While you are correct, I wasn't really wrong either.Actually, Overbrook is the name of the suburb - "Faultline" is just a nickname it picked up after the enormous earthquake destroyed most of it. It's like "Boomtown" - the name everyone knows it by, but not the one on the map.
The name of the dam in "Faultline" is Overbrook Dam.
I just found that a quicker and easier way to explain that specific name rather than the general reasons why places like Faultline, Boomtown, Crey's Folly, and Eden have alternate names. -
I guess I was late to the party. You already answered your own question and Rajani Isa added the only other thing I would have said. lol
Adding them to the tagline will not affect single-instance playing, and saves you the trouble of having to manually run them on every instance each time you multi-client. -
Quote:Who in the world has 215 endurance? End is almost always 100 regardless of level. There are accolades which can bump this slightly (I believe to 110), but I don't think there's any way to get to 200+, particularly not on your average build.Quote:215 is a bit absurd, but it should be easy easy enough to hit 120+ Endurance with set bonuses and accolades.
Wasn't the Performance Shifter +end Proc changed to grant 10% of your max end?
I meant 115, and my calculated numbers actually reflect the real value of 115, not 215...
Edit to change:
but as pointed out below, I skipped a step in my calculation which grossly overstated the effectiveness of the 14% enhancement. Sorry! -

Quote:Costume parts are "Added" any time you select a power that has a customizable weapon.Just to add some feedback here (there's probably other threads on this, but this was the first OT that I say in the search results).
I copied my character to test. I had used one blueside Terra Volta earned Respec way back in the day but that was it. I was a Vigilante when I did the three redside Treespecs. Now I'm a villain.
I had 9 unused Respecs in my System chat. I burned through 5 with nothing but added costume parts (which came around respec 4-5 I think). Then on my 6 and 7 respec I was awarded Thorn Thief (tier 2) and Thorn Usurper (tier 3) in that order. So it looks like my 5th respec was supposed to award Thorn Robber (tier 1), but since I already used a respec as a hero, it wasn't awarding.
And no, you should not have been awarded the HeroTier1, because like you said, you used 1 trial respec already, so it goes right to Tier2, and then Tier3. Technically, you should not have even really earned those 2, except that's the way the mechanic is currently bugged to work.
Your "5th respec" was apparently one of the other respec types (not a trial respec), so you wouldn't have earned a badge for using it anyway. If you never used that trial respec long ago, you would have had 10 (instead of 9), and it still would have been the "6th respec" before you were finally awarded with the Tier1.
To re-explain how this bug works:
When you use a trial respec, your Accolade badge is actually removed, and then replaced with another one with different text. That part is intended, and as far as I remember, has always been the way it worked.
When a Hero earns 3 Respec Accolades and switches sides, it tries to remove the Villain version of the badge when they are used, not the Hero version, but it still adds the new Villain alternate text version.
This is not really intended behavior.
When you already used 1 Hero respec, your HeroTier1 badge was already replaced.
The next Trial respec you use will be Tier2.
On villainside, it gave you the updated VillainTier2, but your old HeroTier2 was never removed.
Then the same thing happens to Tier3.
Hopefully one day it will be "fixed" one way or the other. -
Not necessarily.
In that power, the Proc has a 20% chance to restore 10 endurance every 10 seconds. So let's assume that you are lucky enough for it to actually hit 20% of the time. That would be 10 endurance every 50 seconds, or 0.200 end/sec average.
Now lets compare that to an enhancement of 14%. The base recovery rate is 1.67%, or 1.67 end/sec. 14% of that is 0.234 end/sec, which is slightly higher than the proc's average... and that's not even including any +end bonuses you might have that would bring that number up slightly as well. If you have 115 endurance, then the 1.67% base would be 1.92/s, and 14% of that would end up being 0.269/s. -
Quote:Try logging into the game in "safe mode". That might allow you to close the contact window and then relog normally.I can't even log in now, as since my Contact window is open, the game freezes immediately.
As for actually fixing the main issue, it seems a lot of the newer drivers are causing similar problems for people. ATI users seem to be able to roll back to version 10.9, but I am not sure about NVidia. I know that version 266.58 is out as of this morning though. It might help. It might not. -
There are some glitches people have been complaining about lately when opening Ouro, contact window or other parts of the interface. Most of those users seem to be using ATI cards with the most recent drivers and Ultra graphics. If this describes you, you can try rolling back to the 10.9 driver version, or turn off the higher graphics.
On the other hand, some NVidia users and/or people using "Safe Mode" still report some issues, so I guess it's kinda hit or miss right now. Either way, it would be helpful to see the results of a CoH_Helper. That will give us more information about your specific setup so we can get a better idea of what might be wrong. -
Why wouldn't you just use the EndMod in the set? That power doesn't benefit from the Rech and Acc. I guess with the other set you use, the overall difference might not be much, but it seems kinda silly to give yourself a lower value of EndMod on purpose.

To answer the specific question about RivaTuner, I'd say that the program is safe and trustworthy.. but only as long as you know what you are doing.
Personally, I am not sure I'd try to overclock anything in a laptop though, just for the simple fact that I wouldn't be able to efficiently upgrade the cooling to compensate for the changes like I could in my desktop PC. Some laptops don't even handle heat well at all at the regular levels, let alone overclocking. Even if yours has a heatsink, it's most likely designed to handle only the load of it's default settings. If you overclock it, it might not be adequate.
Maybe I'm just being too cautious, but you asked for opinions. I'd leave it alone in this case... especially since you are already finding "conflicting info on its affects" on your card. Better to be safe than sorry. -
Quote:Yeah, I would say if you are slotting just regular EndMod stuff, then don't go any higher than 3. I'm not sure if you saw my edit above, but I mentioned using two of the Performance Shifter IOs to get a set bonus and an extra proc, so that could give reason for a 4th slot (with 2 generic EndMod), but as I also mentioned.. it probably depends how desperate you are for those few extra points. My thought was 3, 4 max, but as I thought about it more, I thought 3 should do the trick with IO's for End Mod.
I've seen so many people try to max out their recovery to the point that you never even see it go down at all, and sometimes that's just not practical. We've got 100+ points of Endurance.. why not use it? If you can find a good medium where you still don't "bottom out", you'll have more slots to enhance your other powers in better ways, IMO. -
Different people will tell you different things:
Personally, I didn't even have Fitness on many of my toons, so I viewed the Inherent Fitness as a simple little bonus, so I just put in a generic EndMod IO into the free slot it comes with and didn't even have to respec.
Maybe if I get around to doing a Respec, I might give it an extra slot to put in something like:
[Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance] paired with Performance Shifter: Endurance Modification
That will give the set bonus for 5% movement increase. It might not really matter to most people, but it's "free" when you consider the Performance Shifter: EndMod is the same value as a generic EndMod IO, so when using more than one slot, that might be the way to go.
For the toons that I actually did have Fitness on already, I would say to put no more than 3 Generic EndMod IOs in the power. Some people would say to have 1 EndMod plus the two Performance Shifter IOs I mentioned above. Others will say to use 2 of the generic EndMod plus the 3rd and 4th for the Performance Shifter IOs.
I guess it kinda depends on if you are having endurance problem or not and how important you think it is for you to increase your Recovery... as opposed to using the slots to increase the effectiveness of your other powers. As mentioned, I have toons that only have the 1 slot it comes with, and that's enough for me. It all depends on the situation. -
Yes, we can trade with any player now, regardless of Alignment. Then again, I can't remember the last time I ever even used the trade window, so who knows. lol

Quote:I wasn't necessarily saying that your 8 year old would have to do that. If your idea was to make everybody go Heroside, you could spend some of your own time moving the items over to the hero base where they could access them anyway.Ok, the suggestions are fine... though trying to deal with 5 enhancement tables and 13 salvage racks that are stuffed full through e-mails would be a serious pain. Not really functional to tell an 11 year old and 8 year old to remember what they need, switch characters and e-mail to themselves. Just not a good solution.
But here's another idea. Don't go all the way Hero, just go Rogue. That will give your characters access to Heroside for the teaming you want, and also keep access to your Villain base and items. -
You don't necessarily have to "start over" or demolish anything. Simply use 1 character to make a second group (on Heroside), then transfer the items over to the new base. You'll still have to start at 0 prestige on the new base and build up from there, but as long as you keep at least 1 character in the old group, you wont lose what you already have, and you can still utilize the base if you decide to keep a few characters on Villainside and/or decide to move other characters back to Villainside at a later date.

Quote:As far as I'm aware, NVidia's PhysX emulation is not supported by City of Heroes anyway. CoH requires the old AGEIA hardware which many people have reported gives little to no advantage these days anyway (with today's higher specification CPUs), or at least any small advantage it may give somebody is usually not worth spending the money to get one.i would buy gtx 570 and i hope to fix all issue, and regain physx too :-)
I am not sure this is related to your issue (I have not heard of that specific issue before), but there have been reports of issues with some of the newest drivers. Many people report that rolling back to Version 10.9 solved most of them. -
Yes, but there seems to be a slight bug with the color saving that some people still complain about, and I've run into it a few times myself.
The workaround I use:
After making sure your tabs are exactly where you want them, select a tab that has no global channels in it. Edit it and remove any channel (like broadcast or system), then re-add it. Now do your /chatsave.
Apparently if a global channel was the last thing you changed, it might not save/load the colors correctly, so it's quite inconvenient (since that's what people are most likely to change). I've even had my colors change on a different toon when I relog after adding a new channel, so I always make sure to save a new copy each time I make a change.
I hope that helps. -
Quote:It used to be 10, but I think it was recently increased to 20. I only have 11 or 12 right now, so I can only confirm that it's been increased, but not what the exact limit is now. I just did a quick browse of the patch notes and can't seem to find where it was announced. There is a maximum number of global channels you may join -- I want to say 10, but I'm not certain. But there is no limit to the number of channels you're allowed in a single tab.
That said, it seems the Wiki is due for an update on that number. -
Quote:Could there be a driver problem that would suddenly start affecting just a single character in this manner? Also, on the original crash, he was just exiting the Vault Reserve in Cap Au Diable, and the contact tab was not even open.Quote:It's an issue with the contact list or any other lists. Trust me, rollback to 10.9 and it'll all be better.

My answer to that is:
Each toon's window content is unique, so the specific circumstances related to the glitch (that results in your driver being caught in an infinite loop) may not necessarily be met on every character you have. That's why some experience it and others don't, even when using the same computer. -

Quote:I was wondering too and asked above as well, but it seems nobody on the team tried it.Random question, could the heroes have used the Mission Teleporter power?
On a side note, I want to point out that besides being able to get to the mission, Heroes would gain no benefit to being able to zone into the Villain Ouro anyway. Even if they tried zoning to one of the Villain zones, it would boot them back to Atlas Park. Also, clicking on a "pillar of ice and flame"... there is no such thing as a "Hero pillar" or a "Villain pillar". It would bring up the mission listing of your own faction, regardless if you are clicking on it on Hero or Vilainside, or even in an SG base.
