Mine has been doing the same thing for quite some time. I'd suggest going to the website and just re-downloading the updated setup instead. The only reason I haven't bothered to do it myself yet is cause I barely use it, and the stuff I usually look up was for old powersets using enhancements that have not changed.. so basically.. I'm just being lazy.
But now that I don't have anything better to do at the moment. I think I'll do it now and let you know how it goes. lol
Edit:
Yeah that was quick and painless.
Just go to http://www.cohplanner.com/ and download the latest version directly. -
In m opinion, I like everything except the processor, (2.0ghz). Quad isn't necessary or utilized unless you are doing many other things at the same time as gaming, or using more than one account at the same time, so you'd be better off with a higher speed duo for the same price.. or at least a higher speed anything regardless, if possible.

I'll come help out. I'll still bring Phanta unless otherwise directed.

Quote:05/27/2009 11pm-ishQuestion to all the people with similar issues in this thread: What did your last CS support ticket say?
One of my characters was granted all the Veteran badges up to month 48. ( I was actually a month short of 36 at the time.) My account as a whole was granted the free character slots from month 36 and 48 that came along with this as well. This was the ONLY character affected.
05/28/2009 10:44 AM
Per the GMOTD at the time, I sent my petition with as much info as possible, and agreed not to use the character at all until the issue was resolved.
05/28/2009 11:07 AM
Within an hour, I get response from a GM, stating they are escalating my petition to a Senior Customer Support Representative.
05/29/2009 02:11 PM
The next day, I get response from a GM, thanking me for my patience and stated:
"Our Development Team is still trying to determine what caused this to happen and we will update you as soon as we have new information."
06/02/2009 12:30 AM
A few days go by. I update my petition, asking the status, and asking if they have copied necessary information and if it's OK to use the toon again.
06/03/2009 01:41 PM
The next day, the same GM as before says:
"I wanted to update and assure you that our Development Team is continuing to investigate the cause of this issue. Once we have additional news, we will be sure to let you know."
06/09/2009 02:56 PM
Almost a week goes by, the same GM again:
Quote:Thank you again for being so patient during this ordeal. At this time the Development Team is still unsure what caused this to happen but it does seem as though powers and items that may have been lost are being corrected automatically. This means that anything that you may have lost access to should have become available again. If you lost access to something that you've paid for that you have not regained access to (powers, costume parts, etc), please let us know as soon as possible and please include the specific items that are missing.
We are aware that certain Vet Rewards have also been affected as a result of this issue. While it doesn't appear as though access to Vet Rewards was lost, we are aware of some cases in which players gained access to Vet Rewards that they were not yet eligible for. If you have gained access to such rewards, we encourage you not to use them as they could cause problems with your character in the future when the bug is corrected. It is perfectly fine to use the characters themselves, however.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. -
Quote:Maybe a stupid question...how do i direct the program to look in a specific directory?Quote:(You may have to "reinstall" it on her profile also by making a copy of the updater and placing it on her desktop. Running it from there should prompt you for an install directory, at which point you can use the same directory again.)
ftp://client.coh.com/US/CoH_NA_Setup.exe
That setup only installs/fixes your registry without downloading anything else.
At the most, you might have to "verify files", but you shouldn't have to re-download. -
Make a folder called CoH or Games on the main drive and copy the current CoH directory to that location instead.
Then when it asks you to install the game, point it to that directory where the files already are, and it wont redownload but simply update your version of the registry to know where they are. (You may have to "reinstall" it on her profile also by making a copy of the updater and placing it on her desktop. Running it from there should prompt you for an install directory, at which point you can use the same directory again.)
Once both profiles are "reinstalled" to the new directory, it should only be a matter of downloading/updating the program files once each time there is a patch, instead of twice. -
Quote:Like other global bonuses, it's 20% of your BASE regeneration, which is only 0.42%, making 20% of that only a 0.084% increase.Hmm, seeing as how i run a Willpower brute I figured it would buff out my Healing and End engines pretty nice (everything counts in large amounts), or is this another 20% that when you drop it in your numbers go up about as much as if a flea took a leak in your gas tank?
If your Brute had a capped hp of 3212.69, that would be a regeneration increase of 2.69hp/sec. -

The updater itself connects to the internet and can download/install and access the Windows registry. Kaspersky likely sees this as a threat.
The game client shouldn't have any issues on it's own, and can be run directly by using the following shortcut (using default install directory as example):
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh
But that still wont help you update the game when there are patches to the client. I am not familiar with Kaspersky specifically, but I'd be willing to bet there is an area where you can list your own exceptions. If you list CohUpdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe as exceptions, Kaspersky should ignore them and allow you to update/play normally. -

From the support site:
Quote:Be careful making changes to the registry if you don't know what you are doing.Changing the Game's Language
Question
I have installed the European client and my text is now in another language when I go back and play on the US client. How do I change it?
Answer
When the European client is installed it generates a registry key that is not present in the US client. To change or alter the local language, this specific registry key will need to be modified.
To access it, click on Start and go to Run. Type in regedit and hit enter. This will bring up the Registry Editor. From here, expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Cryptic -> Coh. In the right hand window pane, you will have access to all of the registry keys. Select the one titled Installer Language, right click on it, and left click on Modify. In the modify window, you will need to change the four digit value to the desired language.
The Installer Language key values are:
1033 - English
1036 - French
1031 - German
There might be an easier way, but that's the first thing my search had found, and it looks reasonable. -
Quote:Here's a rather large list of CoH related abbreviations and terms, which I linked to in another thread about a week or so ago. :PI have been looking for a while (and yes I have used the search tool) but cannot find the Abbreviations Guide I saw on here a week or so ago!
Can anyone post a link to it or help? -
Quote:You want to keep each stick of ram at the same capacity and the same speed or It will cause conflicts... unless something was changed in vista and 7. 4 1 gb ddr3 pc10666 for example are fine but you wouldnt want to mix anything. Some will even say not to mix different manufacturers of ram which is more than likely a bad thing too.Quote:I believe, based on stuff I've seen here and stuff I've read, that the only time you will run into a "conflict" is if the faster memory can not adjust down to the speed of the slower memory.
And I believe the speed and capacity need only to be the same in each of the pairs or triplets of modules - not between each of the pairs or triplets - depending on your motherboard. I'm not all that knowledgeable about clock speeds and I'm probably way over-simplifying ... but I've built my last 4 computers, and it works for me.

Quote:No worries. Phanta isn't "IO'd out", so his Radiation Infection is only -25% Tohit and -25% Def, and there isn't any way to increase the -22.5% Res that Enervating Field has. We did have some nice spurts inbetween his Unstoppable cycles, but I had to start making sure my Phantom Army was up at the same time too so they could help with damage or else it was nearly a draw.We HAD the damage, but no truly effective debuffs (sorry MB) to where it could make a dent in his resistance in between his Unstoppable recyclings. (Is he vulnerable to Slow? Maybe your Warshade's inherent "Slow" debuff might help things along...)
Rough night. We finished about an hour after I checked out mentally.
I do have a Slow set on Lingering Radiation, but it doesn't look like any of the enhancements changes the base -75% recharge that it casts on the target, even though the Run/Fly/Jump goes to -144% (isn't it capped anyway?) It does have a -500% regen with it, but I don't know how much it actually helped. I tried to spam it any time it came up though.
So yeah, I didn't expect to make him cry like a little baby by himself. A Kin would have certainly helped increase our damage as well as hopefully drop his regen even more.. and if Luna was still with us, the dark debuffs stacking with mine would have certainly turned him into a puddle.
I know everybody was getting tired and it was getting kinda frustrating every time we were making progress and he was getting his 5-10% heal spikes... but at least we finally took him down. Nice job everybody, and we have some information to help us succeed next time (sorry Tux, we'll get it for ya). -

btw, it's ANY caves. Those second pictures were taken at an entrance to The Hollows. -

I've been online when a Winter Event ended. The presents just stop spawning.
When the servers came online, many of us went to Pocket D to find the Chalet door locked, and we all started using the ;protest emote, lol... a few minutes later, the door suddenly started allowing us to enter. yay! -
( Copying my reply to your thread in the Player Questions section: )
Welcome to the game!
First.. just so you are aware.. the Trial client and retail client are exactly the same. The account you use to log into it is what decides your game limitations and features.
This means that you wont have to re-download or install anything extra once you decide to stick around after your trial is over... simply apply a retail code to your already-existing game account through the NCSoft website, and then log in the same way you are now.
As far as your graphics issue.. it sounds to me like you can toggle your "Use Geometry Buffers" option in the Advanced Graphics section, and it might clear it up for you.
If not, then include the results of this program: CoH_Helper -
Quote:You are listing the RAM's CAPACITY, not it's speed. I'm inclined to believe the speed of each stick is relatively close, if not exactly the same.Person B said that RAM tends to reduce itself to the speed of the slowest stick. So, if I put them all in, I'll have:
.500
.500
1.
1.
... but they'll all run at .5, which would just be a step backwards. Again, forwarding what someone else said. I'm not tech savvy myself.
That means there isn't really any reason not to..

Quote:That's weird. I was following this thread this morning before work and I checked the ame when you guys went back and forth like that, and I could swear his name used to be "Thirty_Seven". He probably changed it today.I think that should be "ThirtyPointlessHyphenSeven" shouldn't it?
Edit:
In fact, if you look at your quoted passage above, it says:

IIRC, there was a bug a while back that issued EVERY badge to SGs. This allowed people to make and place items they really didn't earn (yet), and included items that are still not even unlocked even after having all currently available badges.
It may be possible your beacons were earned/placed during this time, which may have led to their eventual deletion when the problem was fixed, but the items you created still remained in the base. -
Quote:I know exactly what you are talking about, and there are/were actually places like that in some of the Crey lab maps as well. When you clip your camera at the edge of one of those "segments", you can actually see all mobs and blinkies on the map, but no walls except for another false wall right in the middle of the hallway, probably causing the problem. Once you know where it is, you can purposely walk into it and it looks to others like you are running into an invisible wall, which i guess you are.I've had a similar issue on a completely seperate map going back to when i first joined the game (around 2 years ago) and that's the map for the mission where you fight saptain castillio for the firts time.
Start off outside and rescue Doc D, then up the lift and in the crooked building. While inside there are several places where the entire building disapears and you can scout out the placement of the mobs, who are are just floating in mid air.
Must try to get a cap of this to show what i mean!
