  1. Yep, Damage Cap is Damage Cap. This hurts scrappers and blasters more than trollers, really.
  2. My Fire/Rad, Chitzen Giggles, had a good one- "Chit happens!"

    Then she got Generic'd D-:
  3. Were you in WW's last night on Virtue or was that a different El Chupacabrah (thats how this toon spelled it iirc)

Anyone have a Spines/Inv? Invincibility seems like it would be a lovely counter to all the AoE aggro a Spiney draws.

    Buzzsaw Build

Pardon my ignorance and poor search-fu- what's a "Buzzsaw Build"? Is that like a Lawnmower build?
  5. When you hear the "Catch a Breath" sound effect when you drink something caffeinated...

When you spot your car across the parking lot and try to superjump to it...
  6. Old SGmate of mine used to have a great one-

    "I need an adult!"

I still have 3 alts on different servers, who are still in the old PDP!

I log in there every once in a while just to look again.
    Such a lonely place now!

    .
I like the new PDP. They got the sound and atmosphere just right. The muffled bass. The filthy warehouse feeling. The lights, the way the music shifts. Even the creepy weirdos and their creepy, sleazy conversations. My costume even smells like cigarettes when i leave!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Swiss chalet from the winter event! PDP+Shadow Shard+yodeling+physics games= fun!

Also, that TF in Striga (Hess?) with the giant Council robot at the end. I didn't even leave when the self destruct sequence started. I just hang around, checking out the robot, debt be damned.
  8. I've been churning out Bronze rolls and sell most, if not all of them immediately. I sell them for cheap enough to make sure they're gone by the time I come back with the next load of rolls, although ones I sell for "cheap" have sold for as much as 6 million. Occasionally I roll something I can actually use, but mostly I'm working on generating inf and getting all my WW badges.
  9. I concur, skipping FR will feel a bit gimped. Aside from the two stuns, there's not a whole lot of synergy going on between the two sets.

My advice- wait for power customization, roll a Fire/Rad and change Rad's green to orange. It will look very tight, too!
  10. Fire Imps run out because they hate the smell.

Phantom Army has to run out to maintain the illusion- otherwise your opponents would get a free Disbelieve check.
  11. Nothing gold can stay, Ponyboy.
  12. Illusion would work nicely with the scrapper's Cloak of Fear, if they have it. Earth and Fire would add stuns on to the scrapper's Oppressive Gloom, if they have that. Two Earth controllers would bring a devastating amount of control, and the Kin would be very happy about all that -def. However, if its more damage you want, Fire or maybe Plant.

You can't go wrong with /Rad as a secondary. Also, think about /Therm. It's got a little bit of everything- healz, shields, buffs and debuffs.

I actually like that redundancy. Earth/Storm is a study is redundancy. Snowstorm + Quicksand = mobs come screeching to a halt. Freezing Rain + Earthquake = permaflop. Stalagmites + Thunderclap = Stuns on stuns. I'd rather bury a mob in status effects than squeeze out a few more points of defense against them.
  14. Earth Controllers are pretty much the only squishies I take SJ for. It just seems natural that the earth itself would cooperate and toss them through the air to their destination.
  15. It's less about stealthing myself and more about the imps. They love to chase down runners, even if the runners are headed towards fresh mobs. However, Smoke + Stealth is a pretty sweet combo, and autohits in PvE.
  16. Wow, I should check prices more often. My 50 troller is choking on Performance Shifters and Efficacy Addaptors from Bronze Rolls.

Combat jumping gives you almost 3% defense with just a Def IO in it and it costs only .07 end/sec plus it gives you immobilization protection.
What makes Smoke effective and useful is it -perception. I know alot of people dont care for it, but that power saves me and my teams on a routine basis. I frequently find myself looking for it on my non-Fire toons.
  19. I am absolutely baffled by how many travel powers some of you take. Seriously, what great powers from your primary and secondary sets are you cutting out just to get that extra few percent of defense?
  20. The idea of trying to squeak in three more powers from Fighting makes mah eyes rain. Most of my builds are as tight as my well-toned buttocks. Ya'll are nuts!

I always take fly on my squishies for one simple reason- I can hit R and tab over and check my e-mail while heading to a mission. Good luck doing that with any other travel power.
  21. You gave up before you got Shield Charge?!

Seriously, that is one of the most pure fun powers in the game. I'll log into my SD/Elec brute just to shield charge at stuff for a few minutes. It is Fun on a Bun.
  22. I just started playing my DM/SD toon again, and got him to 32 last night. I gotta say- Soul Drain is teh sexy! It's like a DIY Fulcrum Shift!

Up until Soul Drain, the set feels kinda blah. Partially because the one AoE performs like a weaker version of Sands of Mu (unslotted) and partially because the attack animations and sounds are rather lackluster. They lack the wild sizzle of hack someone with a sword or impaling them on gushing spines. But, if you're not one to worry about cosmetics, dont sweat it.
  23. My one big complaint about Spines/Da is that all that AoE tends to write some checks DA is frequently not built to cash. All that damage does make a sickly delicious sound, but it can steal aggro from a tank pretty quickly.

Spines/Fire is the other popular lawnmower combo. I doesn't have the cool controller-ish powers of DA, but it does have a very handy End recovery power.

I've always wondered how Spines/Inv would be. You'd lose a little AoE damage, but gain quite a bit in survivability, I would imagine.
  24. How many times did you have to recast Imps? I'd imagine one good GM footstomp would send the lil' basturds flying.
