Oh really? Any type of boss? I'd like to see you take on a room full of Rularuu Overseers.
Why limit yourself to just a single type of boss though? More variety makes for a bigger challenge. Make a custom enemy group with Dark Ring Mistresses, Malta Gunslingers, Master Illusionists, and Fake Nems.
Heck, add in the PPD Lieutenants that run Tactics, the Midnight Squad Lts. with Dispersion Bubble, and Knives of Artemis minions. Then you get full XP! -
Quote:AFAIK it's never worked that way. It's always been one roll to see if a mob dropped something or not (with a fixed percentage chance as has been discussed here). If it did drop something, a second random number is generated to determine which team member gets it. The same happens for inspirations, enhancements, etc. I think there's a couple exceptions such as the guaranteed SO drops from AVs.Synapse:
Previously, the drop logic seemed to work per player on the team. In other words, everyone got the same chance to get a recipie drop from a mob. There would be, say, eight rolls per mob dropped. Even with a lower chance, the odds are that someone would get something eventualy, at a higher rate than solo.
In my experience, the drop rate has always been lower on large teams than when solo as a result of this. This is partly balanced by there being more enemies when on large teams. What people are seeing and testing here, however, is drop rates while solo. Either with or without a large virtual team size.
Quote:Just a thought, maybe excessive lag/ping/whatever is losing packets? Kind of a stretch as other drops seem ok, but just a thought.
Given how streaky it seems for some people, I'd like to second the idea that the random number generation on the live servers may not be reasonably random. I doubt there's any hooks to just look at the raw RNG data (though that may be an idea for a future code revision), but there may be some other way to test. I'm thinking something along the lines of an errant process draining all the entropy from the system, or not re-seeding properly and the same PRNG sequence keeps repeating, etc. Even an identical code build on a lightly loaded internal server might not exhibit the problem.

Quote:Blaster EM Pulse is a stun, and takes disorient sets. I've had Absolute Amazement slotted in it before and recently changed to Stupefy (for the defense set bonus).Looking at the power in the Enhancement Screen, EMP Pulse is apparently a disorient, and not a hold of any sort. (This seems to be at odds with the EMPs in other AT sets, which ARE holds.) So I guess this means it takes Disorient/Stun sets instead of Hold for this power. Is that correct? Is this a Known Issue in Mids?
I'm a little surprised that Mids let you plan hold IOs in it. I've always used Mids for planning my builds and definitely put stun sets in my blater's build for EM Pulse. I don't remember it also showing holds for that power, but it's been a while since I've looked at it. -
Quote:Range enhancements can be almost as good as endurance reduction, too. Longer range = less hops = less endurance used.2 endurance reduction enhancements, and you can cross any but the largest zones (IP, Nerva, Shadow Shard) without any problem whatsoever.
I usually go End/3xRange. Especially on my AR/energy blaster with Boost Range. Now THAT'S the way to travel -
My standard set of things to monitor are:
Regeneration Rate
Recovery Rate
Endurance Consumption
XP to Level
Last Hit Chance
Depending on the AT and what powers I have, I sometimes monitor others. Damage Bonus, Recharge Bonus, and PvE Stealth Radius are 3 that I use on a lot (but not all) of my characters. Tankers/Scrappers/Brutes often have one or more of the defense or resistance numbers monitored as appropriate. -
What I'm more curious about though is new accounts. Do they get to pick, or do they get auto-assigned to their global chat handle or (hopefully not) game login?
-
Quote:They did? I frequent the boards fairly often and check the announcements, but never saw anything like that...Nope, they made it pretty clear before the transition, on more than one occasion, that changing forum handles would not be a supported function on the new boards.
Was kind of hoping that the new boards would support names less than 5 characters long so I could finally get rid of those extra underscores, but now it looks like I'm stuck with it. Bah. -

I already posted her CoD entry

I know, just being thorough. In case Sally wasn't actually using the resistance power with her name in it, or had some additional power active.
Hey, stranger things have happened -
Okay, decided to give her the grand tour.
Power Analyzer -- No TP resist
Land ho!
A view from the trees
Hello, Salamanca!
That's just... not natural.
The beast emerges!
It's so hard to find parking in this town.
It's Gojira!
Back on the streets.
Taking the scenic route to avoid interference.
Even sea monsters need to stop in at the SG base from time to time.
The more you know...
I'm a "catch and release" monster hunter.
Admiring the cityscape.
Almost made it...
Farewell, Sally! -
I recently sold a Brass for 100 million. No way it could have been a typo, I had to wonder if it was part of somebody's influence destruction project, or just giving stuff away.

When Going Rogue Expansion comes out, will there be a new currency? Or will both types of cash merge together... eliminating the need to do transfers from hero side to villain side?
[/ QUOTE ]
There's only one type of cash -- the game just calls it one thing when you're a hero and something else when you're a villain.
The only reason you can't move it from one side to the other is that there's no mechanism for doing so. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think they made her immune to teleport a while back, because people would use TP Foe to get her onto land. I've got a screenshot somewhere of her swimming through a basketball court.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did this less than a month or two ago, so if they changed something it's very recent.
Either that or any TP resistance she has is mag 4 or less. If she has mag 3 (boss-level), TP Foe wouldn't work but Wormhole still would. I'll have to break out the power analyzer next time I see her... -
[ QUOTE ]
Do non damaging attacks like Twighlight Grasp or the temp extinguisher power make her submerge? Squirting her with a giant water hose seems to be fairly humane.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, non-damaging attacks don't make her submerge. One of my favorite things to do on my gravity troller is to use Wormhole to teleport her onto land. It's a challenge to see if I can get her to the middle of town before somebody hits her -

All buffs (and debuffs) on the caster at the time of casting are transferred to the attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even a lot of invisible pseudo-pets are set to inherit buffs. If you use Howling Twilight on a big group while Hasten is up, you get a really loud "HAAAAASTEEEENNNNN!!!" sound effect.
Fulcrum Shift summons a lot of pets too and is prone to this. -

[ QUOTE ]
Uh, what is Arcanatime?
[/ QUOTE ]
Arcanatime is time the way the game server perceives it -- as discrete ticks in a two-phase processing loop. Due to the way this loop works, attack chains may not take the amount of time that you would expect them to by simply adding up the activation times of all the powers.

Huzzah for bronze color on th Mystic Fortune temp powers. will make it easier for quick check on teammates buff bar!

They look more orange to me, but yeah. Make it so much easier to see who needs a fortune buff! -

You'd need The_I_Win_Button and access level 9.
A mastermind whose six pets were all yellow mitos might also have a chance, with the appropriate secondary.

and a new "detention" animation so its obvious which targets are affected
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually picked up Sonic Cage for the first time on a lowbie sonic defender, as part of my pre-stamina build (swap to second build at 20-22).
It has a VERY obvious animation -- it would be nice if the other capture powers had something similar. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for Sonic.....AGAIN......If you enter ITF with 8 ppl and 7 drop out and you finish it.....YOU ARE STILL SOLO'ing IT! As a squishy using inspirations, and temp powers is a must! So why are you insisting that a person is not solo'ing if you use anything but the primary and secondary powers, that makes absolutely no sense. SOLO means just that....Your character against the opponent. Use all your available resources to do it otherwise it is a waste.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that anyone would have a problem with padding to meet the TF requirements, or even having help clearing up to the AV for time reasons. Now if you had teammate buffs going in to the actual fight, that's not soloing IMO.
Inspirations -- I personally consider okay (except maybe a tray full of Tier 3s). A toon that's not IO'd out for defense needs purples to survive. Some hardcore AV soloers frown even on tier 1s though.
Temp powers -- not really. I guess something like wedding band might be okay. I consider Shivans to be cheap. There's a reason MSTF locks out temp powers. IMO if you use temp powers in defeating an AV, you should have to count the time it took to acquire the temp power in the defeat time of the AV.

No matter how much you know there is always more to learn. To prove this point and show your lack of game knowledge here is a simple question (and before you say impossible again, tomorrow i will give you the answer).........How do you set off a 704.8 pt. BLACKSTAR!
[/ QUOTE ]
Easy, eat a bunch of reds until you're at the damage cap. It does 176.2 base, so 400% of that = 704.8. Great against a group. Enough to one-shot a level 50 minion, but not a Lt.
You can get it to hit for 916.2 if you put Tar Patch down first...
It has a 3 second cast time, though, so against a single target, it's barely better than Gloom (which, damage capped, does 254.4 with a 1.1 second activation). Plus you can only use it once in the fight, and you'll drop Darkest Night unless you're really lucky with your timing of eating the blues.
Defender Damage capped damage (normalized per second of activation time):
Blackstar = 234.9
Gloom = 231.3
Dark Blast = 144.4
Moonbeam = 92.2
Night Fall = 79.6 (though it's a cone)
Life Drain = 74.8
I don't see anything in the epic pools that even comes close to Gloom. Total Focus weighs in at 132, so you could use it as an attack chain filler if you had to.
I'm bothering to work out the details on this, because I believe that knowledge should be shared with new players, to help them better themselves and learn how the game works. -
[ QUOTE ]
An AV resists -Res debuffs only by whatever +Res they may possess.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, you're right. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix it.
EDIT: Fixed. The resist debuff applies to total enhanced damage, and also to procs, so that should be correct. It's still not even 15% of what would be needed. -
Ok, I'll bite, even though I'm pretty sure we're being trolled.
A level 50 Archvillain has 28,271 hit points. They regenerate 94.2 HP per second. To defeat one in 15 seconds without debuffs would require doing 1,979 damage per second.
Since Howling Twilight's regen debuff lasts 30 seconds, I'll assume you open with that to floor the AV's regen. That lowers your requirement to a "mere" 1,885 DPS.
Tar Patch's gives you a -30% resistance debuff.
Let's be generous and assume you can get a Soul Drain on a full 10 enemies, without missing any. The top damage per activation-second power in Dark Blast is Gloom. Fully enhanced it does 126 DPS on a defender.
If you could spam that constantly, with an 80% damage buff from Soul Drain, 18.8% more from Assault, and -30% res from Tar Patch, Gloom would do... a whopping 224 DPS. You could push 283 (average) with the Apocalypse and Cloud Senses procs. Your actual damage would be lower once you factor in Arcanatime, the 5% miss rate, and the necessity to form a full attack chain with lesser DPA powers. Fluffy will add a little, but not very much.
Even if you brought along a kin/ friend to fulcrum shift you to the damage cap (which would technically not be soloing), you'd still be far, far short of being able to down an AV in 15 seconds. You could pull out Warburg nukes, Shivans, Vanguard HVAS, etc. Even with those I don't think you'd make it, especially since it would take almost 15 seconds just to summon all that.
Oh, and your buffs and regen duff would wear off after about 30 seconds... So good luck with the last 2.

YOU PEOPLE (most of the posters in general) say outright that i am lying, that is not a good way to get the answer if you really wanted it. That is why i dont give proof, you dont deserve an answer. I gave you some suggestions on how to ask nicely hoping you would learn to be nice!
[/ QUOTE ]
There you have it, proof that it's mathematically impossible for a Dark/Dark defender to kill Romulus 4 times in 60 seconds, using any legitimate means.
If you want US PEOPLE to believe your wild claims, you'll have to provide concrete proof of your own. -
[ QUOTE ]
We've looked into this one. Apparently the AI reacted funny to the phase changes. Currently the AI thinks everyone is a valid target, even though it can't actually deal damage.
Code is looking into it, and Bab's might be able to do something to make them a lot more transparent. That should make it much more apparent that the targets are phased out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it possible / desirable to make enemies that are phased and can't be affected by you (i.e. you're not phased also) so that they're untargetable?
That way you at least wouldn't waste time / endurance trying to attack them.
