This, on the other hand, dives right into the problem of purchasable INF. If a player can purchase something with real-world money, and then turn immediately around and sell it on the Market for a gain in INF, that's essentially just laundering one currency into another. There are pros and cons to this, of course, but as far as I know, the Devs have always come out dead-set against this sort of thing. Being able to sell cards to another player is not complex, obscure or at a great remove... it's tatamount to paying real world currency for INF in a very direct way.
It has, of course, been suggested that an official source for purchasable INF would essentially destroy RTM operations, and this system would allow the players to set the price point (by determining what the cards were worth in the open Market). I don't know enough economic theory to know if that's a good idea or a bad one, though, so I'm not offering an opinion on that. I'm just saying that the Dev team have always seemed very resistant any cash-for-INF system.
(I'm assuming that you're suggesting the cards be allowed as tradable items in the Market - a direct card-for-card seperate system would mitigate these concerns, but would be a lot of work.)

To late merits are already something in super packs which buys IOs and can be sold on the market for influence and ATOs can also be traded on the market.

Though I will add the devs did a good job not actually selling influence cause with all this supply suddenly prices are in fact dropping on just about everything worth while from what I've seen.

Still more an illusion cause no buff bar. On a good farm build with hasten, 100+ global recharge plus a force feedback proc in a good aoe with KD that's already above the 262% when all are going. Then add in ageless destiny and it goes even higher, then throw in spiritual(that won't show on combat attributes but still) and it's pretty easy to get insane levels of recharge solo these days.

So your saying the devs don't lie? I point you towards Positrons statement towards i13 that multiple people have quote in their signatures and is famous here on these boards especially with the pvp crowd no matter how small.

They lied, aint the first time won't be the last.

ATOs directly affect powers and auto-level with the character. They are more powerful than almost anything else in the game, and Synapse has said on today's UStream that the future packs will have newer ATOs with different/better advantages.

Man makes a good point, only a complete moron(or someone that has never played this game before) would not know that consumables would be worthless in a game such as City of Heroes. Lets be honest with ourselves here the inspirations/windfalls/exp boosters/prestige boosters were not selling for crap so they thought hey if we put them in a gamble pack with a really cool costume set they have to buy them if they want the costume.

That's the only reason they wont sell us this costume pack by itself. Or everyone at Paragon studios suddenly was hit really really hard in the head with a blunt object of some sort. I guess both are possible if we live in infinity but I know the more probable one.

Why in the world would any one think that?

Did you read the reply I quoted? People keep saying it's not gambling this and it's not illegal that, well you know what the legal system is a joke as I said earlier. What they say and what is morally right are two completely different things. Selling things that people can only get threw chance/gambling is taking advantage of addiction. I guess I just thought Paragon Studios was better then that is all.

The legal system is a joke and all that's left in the free world are kangaroo courts. Just look at the Casey Anthony trial.

  14. I got the brute proc for 158,888,888 (sweet) the lowest price of the last 5 with 333,333,333 being the highest.
  15. Yay! hopefully Staff is released for DXP.

Every time you say that what some people spend a lot of money on you should get some other way, you're reducing the number of people that would have spent $115 on the game and by extension reduced the amount of game the devs can make for you. Its all fungible: the store, and everyone who buys things in it, help support the game you don't have to spend the same amount of money to buy.

The question you should be asking is: what *would* you dangle in front of the people who can afford to spend more than you, to help subsidize the game? Whatever it is, if you can get it without spending a lot of money, so can they. The people spending money on the game might be willing to spend the money, but they are unlikely to simply give their money away.

The alternative to some people spending more and some spending less, is everyone spending less for a lesser game, or everyone spending more for a better game. What would you do if instead of putting things in the game like the Superpacks they just substantially increased the subscription for the game instead and eliminated the free to play option.

That's what I thought. Some would stay, others would be forced to leave because they couldn't afford it. The only way Paragon can provide an option to pay less to play is if they can convince others to pay more. And I don't think donation cards will work as well as the superpacks.
For the bolded part honestly if these super packs are just gonna go for subsidizing for super packs or other stuff equally lame then I would rather not have it in the game. If the "type" of game this adds is more paid for features that VIPs get jipped on what's the point?

I don't feel jipped cause these cost money I feel jipped cause I can't buy something I want. I like supporting paragon studios but I refuse to gamble for bits of data. It just feels wrong to me and I work hard for my money to hard to throw it away on exp boosters and inspirations. Maybe if so much junk wasn't in these packs I wouldn't feel soured on the whole thing

The numbers can be meaningful since perception often becomes reality. When meaningful statistics are backed with case after case of supporting evidence (such as players who actually buy things), a case can be made that the entire costume set can be acquired for less than $15 - plus you get the assorted Reward Merits, Enhancement Boosters, Unslotters, ATOs, etc.

Even your Beta experience is in line with that. One detail that you omitted was that you got more than just a costume set for the 13 packs that you opened in Beta. You also received a number of consumables. While you may not value those items highly, they were part of the transaction.
So what your saying then is if one wants this costume bundle it's gonna cost them roughly 2 to 3 times what a normal costume bundle cost, on a good day. Lordy lordy my eyes are open I see the light HALLELUJAH!

    Nope sorry still a scam.
  18. Some nice costume pieces you have there to bad your not willing to just sell them to me outright, oh well your loss.

As long as I don't have to pay money for them don't matter to me. I pay a sub fee already I'm not spending more then $15 on a single video game a month. Maybe that makes me a cheapskate but I don't really care.
  20. I have a request, make these costume pieces into recipes like some of the wings options so we can trade them on the market. My objections would go away then.

I for sure wont get all pissy for them trying to make money.

It's not gambling IMO because you walk away with items that are of use even if you dont really want them.
Your right it's not gambling gambling you can win something everyone wants($$$), this I don't want most the crap but just a little, it's like setting my money on fire so I can light my smoke, sure I want the flame so i can smoke but am I really willing to light the paper money on fire to get it? No I'm not so I'm also not willing to spend money on crap on the off chance I get what I want(the costume pieces).

    C'est la vie.
  22. What happened to this being still a mostly sub based game with a free to play side option? Now your releasing stuff that VIPs can't even get without gambling for shame paragon. I play other online games with similar mystery boxes/crates/cards what have you but they don't have subs they are truly free to play.

So I ask you paragon studios please let VIP buys these outright without gambling. I like gambling go to the casino and even been to Vegas once you know the difference? I can actually win something worth while(MONEY$$$) I wont gamble for this its like playing the claw machine for a stupid stuffed animal.

Ok your the single point both lines come to and your attack area coverage is what's inside the two lines. Now imagine if you keep extending those two lines you actually get a bigger area coverage. Range enhancements are good in cones.
