If you know anything about badges in this game you'd realize that a level 19 character with 600 badges a couple of years ago was just about as tediously difficult as it would likely be to have a level 35 Praetorian today.

Never underestimate people experimenting with "special projects" like that. If a player can't wait for future Issues to properly handle the high level Praetorian problem then that's their deal, not the game's.
  2. I'm not really letting the upcoming Fitness/Incarnate changes stop too many of my respec/build plans. I don't actually respec much regardless. I'll probably only tinker with a few of my existing builds to account for those updates anyway.

Obviously any new characters I make from now on will be done with Inherent Fitness in mind, but I wouldn't say that waiting for it is keeping me from doing anything I want to do today. I'm not the type of player who creates new alts every other day anyway. *shrugs*

I imagine this one will eventually happen in some fashion, but who knows when.

Maybe we'll get charged $7.99 for it too :P
At least things like "let my Primal characters into Praetoria" is going to happen in I19.
That info was released by the Devs at PAX a few weeks ago.

But yeah many of these other "oldies but goodies" are still needing to be done.
    I guess time will tell.
  4. Spending A-merits on costume items is currently a semi-joke. The game will let you waste an A-merit on a costume recipe that's probably only worth 100 INF much less a 100,000 INF or 20 million INF.

Having said that I don't mind the idea of the Devs providing more costume recipes for new types of costume items in general. In fact ever since they came up with the "costume recipe" concept I've been expecting them to add to what's craftable that way.

But I don't exactly like the idea of restricting costume items to any particular alignment (even if it's just a restriction on how you can buy them). So far in this game there's absolutely no restriction on any AT, alignment or origin as far as costume items go. I don't really see any advantage for them to start doing that now.

But the new Alignment merit system changed all that for me.

With what I consider to be a minimum of effort (like 15-30 minutes a day) I've earned somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 billion INF since the beginning of I18/GR by selling crafted recipes I get from buying random recipes with Alignment Merits. I figure I could've earned maybe twice that much if I'd been super-serious about it. There's no real need to change the drop rates of recipes when you can earn enough INF to buy pretty much any recipe you want in a few days' time.

    Good luck to you regardless...
  6. If it's not the current top #1 requested feature right now it's at least been in the "Top Five" for over 6 years now.
I've seen people post for this "suggestion" at least once a week for years now...
  7. I caught a matinee of this movie over the weekend.

It was pretty mindless, totally predictable and had some glaring plot holes, but all-in-all it had enough re-hashed Matrix-like action sequences to make it not totally horrible. I still think the current "3D" fad is mostly hype, but I must admit it probably added enough corn-ball value to this movie to make it mildly passable.

I'll never pay money to ever see it again or own it in any form, but I don't really regret seeing it in the theater. *shrugs*

I think most people complaining about it are doing so from a place of wanting it to be good. It's a superhero show and we play a superhero game. It is a shame that it's a constant disappointment; aside from a few individually excellent episodes, overall the quality is pretty low. I think a lot of that stems from the fact it was created by a couple guys who had neither knowledge of nor interest in Superman or comics. Their original show idea was shot down and they were offered the chance to reboot Superman and they said, "Yeah, okay, sure." And when they started doing a little research (VERY little, from all accounts) they were repulsed, hence the "no flights, no tights" rule. Even now, three years after they've left the show, it's still saddled with their baggage which is why they're just now getting around to showing the suit.

But all that doesn't excuse the really poor writing of last night's episode. They really should've come out swinging and they didn't.
Well true to my original post in this thread I did not bother to watch the season premiere of this show. *shrugs*

But I think this post hit the nail on the head about the general way that I feel about this series. Basically I would have loved to have liked it but simply didn't. The only reason I "hate" on it (if you can really call it that) is that I'm genuinely disappointed with something I wanted to care about but don't. It's relatively frustrating all things considered - if I seriously didn't care I wouldn't bother to post at all.

Anyway I will have to give it props that it has indeed managed to last for 10 seasons, which is no small achievement in the world of TV. But if you were to ask me why I thought it managed to last that long I could legitimately tell you I have absolutely no clue, especially when you consider there seems to be quite a few people like me who gave up on the show long ago. For what it's worth I'm glad it lasted as long as it did for those still watching it. Stranger things have happened I guess...

Or winter. or V-day (frigging snaptooth needs to just *go away.* And take Mutant Baby New Year with him.)
As much as I'd like to see new content as often as possible for this game I could accept the idea that the Devs might want to consider NOT giving us any new Halloween content this year in favor of them working solid on I19 and I20.

Besides what else "new" for Halloween could they really throw at us this year?
Sadly it might involve "sparkling vampires" and that would truly be horrific.
  10. I think you are getting yourself majorly confused about what I said.

I ALWAYS knew that ALL kinds of SALVAGE was deletable.
I THOUGHT that ALL kinds of MERITS were NOT deletable, at least initially.

Salvage does not equal merits for the purposes of this discussion and never did.
Let's try to make sure we are all talking apples and oranges here.

Because I thought that the old kinds of merits were undeletable I initially thought it was strange that the new kind were deletable. At that point it seemed to me like they went out of their way to change the way merits worked, in a bad way.

Now that I know the old merits are also deletable I better understand why they made these new alignment merits work exactly like the old types of merits. I'm a software engineer IRL so obviously it was easier for the the Devs to simply "cut-n-paste" the functionality of the old types of merits when they were creating these new type of merits.

But even though that was the easiest way for them to create the new kind of merits I still do not consider it "legitimate" in any form or fashion. It was simply expedient. All the Devs did was (lazily?) copy the undesirable ability to delete the old types of merits to the new type of merit. I don't consider the ability for a player to shoot themselves in the foot by accidentally deleting merits (any kind of merit) to be strictly "legitimate" do you?

I think you are confusing the word "legitimate" with the word "consistent". It's true they consistently made all the merits work the same way. But I would strongly argue that consistent way is equally unnecessary and should be changed for all merit types.

Turns out you took my second quote out of context. When I said that I actually thought you could NOT delete other types of merits. Better luck next time trying to twist my words around on me.

Anyway, back to when I used the word "legitimate" I meant something that would be "positively beneficial" to the overall player experience.

While it turns out I now realize that ALL types of merits are indeed deletable, I would argue that there is still no "legitimate" reason why a player would actually want to delete ANY of them. As I pointed out before there is no "limited inventory" space issue with them the way there is with salvage. Each merit type has its own space and you can't have too many of one type preventing you from earning any more of another type. That and the fact that they aren't tradable makes the ability to delete them all the more pointless.

Ultimately it still seems like the ability to delete merits can only be seen as a potential "gotcha" which can hurt players. I'd suggest the Devs reconsider this for all merit types.

Yes, that was an obvious assumption that I glossed over.

The vast majority of things the Devs do in these patches are either things we the players don't really need to know about (like exploit fixes) or things we don't even want to know about because they are mind-numbingly trivial.

It's a "cost" of switching alignments. The Devs want us to think twice about doing it so that we don't feel motivated to constantly "flip-flop". Basically the advantage of being able to go to either red or blue side as a Vigilante or Rogue is offset by the advantage of having A-merits as a Hero of Villain. It's called game balance.

So, be very careful now when deleting stacks of salvage.

    Can even delete AE tickets.
Having that confirmed doesn't really answer the question of WHY anyone would ever want to delete any of these things in the first place. I can see a need to be able to delete salvage (to make room for other salvage) but there's no "run out of limited inventory room" issue for the various merit types.

I guess there's a legitimate reason out there somewhere, but I certainly can't think of one. Once again is seems like having the option to do it is far more trouble than it's worth.

The Patch Notes for a patch never completely details every single thing the Devs changed in it. If the Devs ever bothered to itemize all the details they could probably create a small phonebook-sized document every single time.

For whatever reason this thing about the "Updated links for the Going Rogue upgrade/purchase button" was the only change the Devs felt was important enough to be mentioned in the Patch Notes. It's pretty safe to assume there were dozens of other trivial bug fixes and tweaks too small to be worth documenting.
  16. Might be easier to consider this question from the other way around.
The only things you can't do as a Rogue that you can do as a Villain is:

    1) Have the villain alignment power Frenzy.
    2) Have the ability to enter The Crucible to do anything related to villain alignment merits.

Everything else redside related is exactly like being villain as far as I know.
  17. Yeah there have been some general I19 info hints/leaks from either the GR beta or recent convention appearances but there has been no definite press releases or official online announcements directly from the Devs yet.

    Classic.
I've watched maybe 3 episodes of this show back in season 1. I gave up on it but at least I can understand its appeal for others. I actually would have liked to have liked it but sadly didn't. The only "following" of this show I do is when a thread like this pops up. Trust me when I say I'm quite sure I couldn't hardly tell you -anything- about it now.

Anyway for what it's worth I'm willing to accept the idea that the show somehow got much, much better at some point to last as long as it has. Go figure.
  20. Wasn't this show cancelled like almost 9 seasons ago?
More power to it for lasting this long because I sure would never have predicted it...

That was kind of the point of my last post earlier today: Apparently a person's background doesn't really have to be totally "kid oriented" or even "kid friendly" to appear on Sesame Street. Clearly they've tried to pick all sorts of people over the years based on the show's core idea that diversity is a good thing to cultivate.

Sure Perry might have made a better wardrobe choice, but beyond that she's not totally "inappropriate" for Sesame Street. In this case she's a young pop-starlet singing a vapid happy-shiny pop song on a kid's show with a puppet. It's not like we have to take -any- of it all that seriously. I could easily envision millions of people LESS appropriate than she would have been even in her apparently titillating Tinkerbell dress. *shrugs*
  22. I've seen this problem happen with the history plaques for years.

Like Nericus says I've had much better luck with it if I take the time to patiently open the plaque, leave it open at least 5 or 10 seconds (or more to be super-safe I guess) then close it with the proper button. When I go slow like that I hardly ever miss the credit for them anymore.

    Good luck.

Obviously you've never written any code before.
I have a degree in Computer Science and even I know the "science" part of that only goes so far.

Ironically the deterministic rules of a RNG algorithm are never going to run absolutely 100% predictably given all sorts of factors up to and including cosmic rays flying through a computer randomly fliping a bit in memory. *shrugs*

Just because you don't like the idea of the fundamentally unpredictable quantum nature of the Universe doesn't mean its wrong. You mention "not placing all your eggs in one basket" with such theories. I would likewise warn you not to assume it will be disproven just because we can't wrap our feeble human minds around it today.

An orderly clockwork Universe might be nice for us to grasp.
We humans do like the idea of putting everything into its own little box.
But the real Universe doesn't have to do or be anything to appease us and it never will.
  24. I live in the United States but I recently had trouble trying to pay for a Super Booster pack using my PayPal from Japan. Because I was in Japan (on a business trip) PayPal flagged my purchase as suspicious and I had to resolve that mix-up with NCsoft.

Unless you have another option I'd try to do something like Zybron1 suggested.
    Good luck.

Yeah I think I'd just consider this a "before I19 happened" problem.

The Devs have told us they're going to allow Primals to travel to Praetoria in I19. The assumption based on that is that characters will eventually be free to travel back-n-forth between the two worlds. We might still have to be at least level 20 to do that, but that's not much of a problem all things considered.
