  1. I play mine most like a scrapper in a team (and solo but that's another story). That is I play on the First In, First Out system. I'm generally the first member into the next mob, and I start controlling them as I leap/fly in, normally Flashfire & Fire Cages or Cinders, by the time the tank/melee team members are there I'm ready for the FS, or to heal/END boost (with Transference). And looking around ready for the next mob. Who I normally Smoke to stop early agro.

I use Speed Boost if it is asked for or on those obviously struggling with end issues. Increase Density goes on people who obviously cannot have knockback protection while those who should and don't get laughed at.*

Inertial Density when I need it and if anyone else gets it great.

*Well I do laugh but only in a nice way.
  2. While the exact details of Psylenz's build are not quite what I go with, essentially I run an identical build on my Bots/Dark.

Personally I fit Hover in there as I get lag spikes sometimes and Teleport without Hover for me is quick death... oh and I prefer Mu Mastery to Scorpion stuff.
  3. Defianter really but back...

Heard that Defiant is all but dead now, so if it is I might end up a Onionite after-all. :?
  4. 1)Fairly sure of this TBH, I didn't see any reason why it'd change but thought I'd ask just in case.

    New question:
4)How big was the download for i18/GR? If the total size for the whole game is only 3.7Gb or so then GR can't be that big...

Have found an old i16/i17 (not sure which) install on my laptop so that should speed things up a bit.
  5. Long time since I was last here, been off playing other stuff and doing things more important than PLing another Fire/Kin (they been nerfed yet?). Since I last played the HDD that had my mostly up to date CoH client died (well more killed) so now I want to come play Going Rogue I have some issues.

I didn't realise that it was out so soon and consequently burnt through my entire yearly (it seems) downloads getting WoW and Oblivion running after the HDD loss, now I can't get the entire GR thing as a digital download. EU doesn't seem to have a non-digital version. So some questions:
    1. If I buy the US physical boxed edition can I use it (somehow) on the EU client without getting an addition EU key code?
If I buy the Complete Edition from Amazon.com I'll then have a client that should only need minor updates until i19 but will I need a different code to activate my EU client for GR?
    2. How big is the total installation now? Assuming you own GR.
    3. Anyone in UK willing to whack the client onto a DVD and send me it? Assuming of course that the client will fit onto a DVD. I can of course pay for media/shipping. As you can see I have an active account (posting here...) just need a game I can play.

    Heroes Run

This was passed on to me by my cousin who I think will be running, its his sort of thing. Perhaps other less couch potato types might be interested.

    and

    http://www.passingiton.org.uk/

By the looks of things its London based, so I am of course exempt.

Oh and travel powers other than sprint are not allowed I understand.

Horse farmers are just rich people who like big animals... seriously we can make a bale of hay (mini round bale) for £1.80, that's from grass standing in the field to a bale either wrapped and stacked or in your barn. If we can find a mug... wait horse farmer (that's a stables to you) we can sell the bale for £5 or more...

Sadly we have a small herd of small cows (Dexters) some sheep and goats plus ancillary livestock so we can't sell what we have this year... maybe next year we'll be able to buy new clothes.

When I say we I mean my parents, any luck and I'll get a nice job in IT and live in a real town... not in the rural location I'm stuck in now.

    Bind Help.

If you stick a plus sign into the beginning of each of the first two macros you can double their effectiveness. eg:

    /bind <key> "+ $$inspcombine luck enrage$$inspcombine insight enrage$$inspcombine break_free enrage$$inspcombine awaken enrage$$inspcombine sturdy enrage"

    /bind <key> "+ $$inspcombine good_luck focused_rage$$inspcombine rugged focused_rage$$inspcombine bounce_back focused_rage$$inspcombine emerge focused_rage$$inspcombine keen_insight focused_rage"

What this does is tells the game to execute on down press and again on up press, so reducing the number of key-presses to combine the various Insps.
  9. Psi Epic is better IMO than stone....

You get a nice resistance/defence to Mezzes (which can be made near perma), which will also take a LotG +7.5% recharge.

    A Resistance to Psionic/Smash/Lethal

An Targeted AoE which can have the +Chance to recharge slotted. Does smashing and Psionic damage, the Psionic is of course less resisted than most other damage types.

Plus a confuse which even if you don't plan on using it will take a fairly cheap purple set for the bonuses.

And the key for me it doesn't look like I've wading through the sewers for my entire career.

Tried Stone, loved Fissure loathed the armour and didn't see much use for the rest.
  10. Speaking as a long time dual-boxer and more recent triple boxer. Any time you split what sets you take you set yourself up to have one character being much weaker than the other.

While a rad/kin duo might be fun when each is played by a separate person when played together unless you really can split your mind in half you end up with one character that does most of the work and a follower. And if you are using the alt+tab method that will be even more the case.

For example a Fire/Kin and a Fire/Cold. The fire Cold doesn't get any shields so will be quite a bit less resilient and while the kin will have sufficient heals for the kin what if the cold is too far off from the kin to get the heal? And even with countless hours practice on my fire/kin team one of the followers fairly often is slightly too far off to get the heal.

If that's the deal you want I'd suggest going with an all out damage dealer and a buff follower.

If you like me are going to software box I'd suggest picking two characters that synergize especially well and go with two identical (or as near as damn it) builds.

As for what to try... that would depend on your play style and what you enjoy. I personally love my fire/kin trio (started as a duo), Mind/Rad duo is fun as is my Grav/Rad trio. I have also played around with Emp & Kin defender duos/trios and fire/nrg blasters.
  11. I seem to recall that as part of the vet reward program, accounts subscribed for certain amounts of time gain free character slots. Am I misremembering this?

And if not how much time per slot?
  12. Some awesome stuff there...

From what are the illuminated stairs made?
  13. Lost Ninja

    Shadow Shard

Make it up as you go and if its wrong later RetCon it just like the devs would...
  14. Buy online through one of the retailers they list. Make sure you get a region you want to play in eg US or EU. Buying from a retailer can be cheaper than buying direct though you do need to wait for the box to arrive. Or if you have a friend in game who lives closer to the retailer (so if buying from Amazon.com a friend who lives in US) maybe they can buy the box and just email you the code.

Also if you say where you live there might be someone here who lives there too and can speak from direct experience of your/their country rather than a generic I don't live in the right place sort of thing... I mean if someone lives in South Africa buys the game they will most likely have a different experience to someone who lives in Chile even though neither live in US/EU.
  15. Having grown bored with the game briefly (I hope) I spent the time I should have been farming remaking my i8 -> i13 Slash Commands guide.

Okay so its not really a guide. It is a list of all the in game slash commands (wishful thinking) gained through /cmdlist and then turned into an online DB. I have assigned arbitrary categories to each and every command so as to make it easier to find what you want.

I have even added some of the commands I have found that are not listed in game but nevertheless work.

    Actual Guide

Any corrections or additions pleas post in this thread or through the PM system. In game (EU only) I can be reached by @Lost Ninja (or see sig).

[yeah, I'm totally behind the idea of Rikti science rockets as opposed to chemical rockets, and I know they would be able to secure an area with Force Fields. I was just fooling.]
If you can make forcefields of sufficient strength you could even launch on the Bang Bang method...

Stick a nuke under rocket detonate. Rocket goes up, before it can fall stick another nuke under and detonate...

Hell the amount of times the reactor blew in the old days they could have launched loads of rockets from TV...
  17. My attack chain is generally: FU -> Spin -> Eviscerate. However while hasten is down I need to fill with Slash, hence why I went with the extra recharges. However I take your point.

The fifth slot in the Def sets and the Res sets is more to fill out the values rather than the set bonuses. Reactive armour is the only set that offers +def to smash and lethal at 4 slots.

  18. Been working on this build for some time now and while nowhere near complete I was wondering if anyone would care to comment on it. This is what I currently have on live (just used my freespec) so far I have been doing paper missions (@ +1 x6) and it seems to be doing quite well. I don't plan on exemping much and will mainly use this for helping friends/alts at 50 (PL or Farm) and 40+ TFs.

I plan on changing the Crushing Impact to Kinetic Combat ASAP (when I can afford them) and the Multistrike to Obliteration again when I have the cash. Anything else need doing? Though of course I lose 10% recharge and some damage from that. Ideally I'd make that up by slotting Focus with a Purple Set.
With that all done I get the following: (According to Mids)

    Defense
    S/L/F/C ~31%
    E/N ~32%
    P 21.3%
    M/R/A ~19%

    Resistance
    Smashing & Lethal 49.7
    Others 5-10%
    Psionic 29.1%
  19. Lost Ninja

What is the chance of drop? Or in other words how many players would I need to kill to get a drop?

    Off what do they drop?
  21. i17 Middle of Jan and GR beginning of Feb IMO.

i17 will introduce the story elements associated with GR along with the normal additions and nerfs that all issues get.
  22. Lost Ninja was my first fifty and is now my main online representation.

Back before I found CoH (EU Beta) I used a variety of different names, depending on what I was doing and how I wanted to present myself, mostly they were made up names either to express a point (SpelChek) or as some sort of tribute to another theme/meme/story (Incessant-Logic - Ian M Banks' Culture Novels).

When I first started playing CoH my forum name started as Incessant-Logic, was rapidly changed to my first main's name, Grendel. However shortly before i4 I rerolled Grendel my hideously borked Dark/Dark scrapper as Lost Ninja.

The name Lost Ninja is based on the game character The Last Ninja or more precisely to say on the fact that I was listening to a remix (from kwed.org) to the music from that game.

My 2nd account is now Ellen... which should be seen as LN which is often my out of game online nickname.

And 3rd account is Pyroclastic Ninja. Pyroclastic Flower was my 2nd 50 (IIRC) a Fire/Kin created way back when Fire/Kins were just another controller. Nowadays I spend more time playing controllers than I do on my scrappers so my third account bridges accounts 1 & 2 (Lost Ninja on 1 & Pyroclastic Flower on 2) to be Pyroclastic Ninja

((Though in fact Pyroclastic Ninja has yet to be renamed and is still PyroclasticNinja.))

    Micro Thong

Not exactly the comfiest of undergarments but it doesn't show any lines...

However her lack of bra is more worrisome. By the time she's forty her breasts will be down around her knees.
  24. Currently working on updating my command list (see sig) for i16. I also have a job application form to fill in, deadline for that is tomorrow. And if I fail to do that I'll be playing TF2.
  25. VR is just the interface of the game...

Its not any more real than looking at a monitor...

I have three accounts and while micromanaging three characters in VR would be a bit harder than on a monitor I like a challenge.

However as it'd still be a game albeit with a funkier interface I'd struggle to pick which specific character I'd play... much like now really.
