  1. No the problem with this thread is a basic misunderstanding of what stealth does:
You blend into your environment and can only be seen at close range, even if discovered you are hard to see...

    That is not:
Your body body blends into your environment but the mobs can still see your weapons, and can only be seen at close range (except your weapons), even if discovered you are hard to see... even though the mobs have been able to see that giant green sword right from the word go.

And strangely I understand what the OP is saying, but have to disagree as the stealth power makes all costume parts somewhat transparent and its that transparency effect that causes your weapon to shift its colour somewhat. And like I said in my original reply, if you don't like the look lose Stealth. It does exactly what it is supposed to do.

LostNinja said it all. Don't expect any part of your costume to be visible during stealth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but since when does stealth conceal your entire costume?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Could just be me but isn't the point of being stealthy to be you know stealthy? Hell if I was stealthy except my weapons (glowy claws FTW TBH) I'd want my money back on the stealth...
  3. You want stealth you got stealth, you want really bright weapons switch off stealth.

    27 Months: Anime-style tech armor
To be frank compare it to real Anime-style tech armor and you get nothing like it. It is just too boring and not unique enough.

Idea: Buttoned Shirts. Allow each button on the shirt to be cuztomizable to everyones taste. Also allow different types of buttoned shirts.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hope not as I'm still waiting to see it and I'd have even less use for shirts of any kind.

I'd love a little more variety in missions and could imagine a mighty Nemesis, steampunk train.

    But...

I can't help feel that if Nem was building a mobile weapon or base then he's seriously lost his edge if he's making it restricted to having to move on preexisting tracks!

OMG! Nemesis is coming to destroy the city - what can we do- we're doomed!
Don't worry, Captain Fat Controller will switch the points and save the day!

Now if it swapped from a train to a giant zeppelin or something...

Actually I suppose Nemesis might create a base/weapon that needs traintracks if it's a typical case of misdirection... but such obvious misdirection must be a bluff... though he'd anticipate us seeing it as a bluff so maybe it's a double bluff... but he'd have........

Yikes! Maybe a train could work for Nem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Remember the train that is in the 2nd/3rd Back to The Future Film?

Its just as I see it from other games.. like AOC managed it. The tech wouldn't be any harder, its legal and VAT issues stopping them.

But if this cant be managed... why ever remove the posibility to transfer US > EU? If that keeps active all people who mistakenly started a trial on us (and there are a LOT) would be able to get to eu... while keeping their badges and veterans.

    [/ QUOTE ]
EVE runs on a shardless system, eg everyone is on in effect a single server. But it proves nothing, because you can do something in one system does not mean it is possible in another.

I have no real idea about the legality of the system, it could just be an excuse. But equally it could a real and limiting constraint that they can't just get round that easily. AoC/EvE/etc may have done what you want but as they are separate legal entities there is no real comparison.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
In my opinion some sort of shell or new server list that shows all servers incl the european ones is technical no problem and would be a gods end...

    [/ QUOTE ]
    You opinion as what?

    A Database specialist?
    A network engineer?
A lead programmer on an MMO?
Or as someone who just wants it to happen?

If it really was this easy I think that perhaps the devs might have done something already... I doubt it is as they haven't!
  8. Statesman is a MM...

Look at him standing on his boat sending his minions off to die for him.

    Rocket Boots

Change rocket boots costume part so that the animation for the actual thrusters plays whenever any vertical movement power is activated. So Combat Jumping, Super Jump, Hover, Fly & Teleport plus all temporary versions of them.

Or create a new version that has a good animation for those of who for one reason or another don't have a flight power.

i do not understand ,all of you play a cryptic game[cox]and you think that ther second game with twice more budget will fail?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yeah I do....

Look at CoH before NCSoft took over, several issues with virtually nothing new, a reduced development team. Continual Nerfs because what was happening in game didn't match what the boss guy wanted in 'his' vision. Same Boss guy still running the show at Cryptic.

Plus if CO was actually CoH2 I might be tempted, its not though its a wholly new game, the graphics, gameplay and engine are all new and not intended to copy CoH. For the same reason I'm not going to play WAR, AoC or any of the other MMOs that have been released since CoH came out I won't jump ship to CO...

As for DCO even if I gave a damn about the franchise which I don't I doubt I would play it. Its a console game intended for people who prefer consoles whether or not it sees release on the PC is immaterial. And as I was never a big one for the comic genre (expect where it matches my liking of figure hugging garments ) I don't see anything in either CO or DCO that makes me want to play.

Granted, but IR's certainly usable as an alternative to fullblown SJ. Which I feel invalidates the words (my emphasis) "NO powerset has any kind of travel power" I was quibbling with.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thing is the rest of the set isn't a buff/debuff which the only other set based travel powers do belong to.

This is more or a cop out the: 'I can't think of a decent power that both fits the overall theme and has any application in a control set' type of choice.
  13. Something that goes well with a Talsorian Shield.

I agree with Phantom on the exploration front, while the exploration badges and collection badges are cool and all, they offer little else. Perhaps turn the badge collection badges into accolades, at least, the high end ones (ie 100, 200 and higher if they get introduced)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps a 'Super Explorer' accolade which gives you a power which can help you detect Exploration badges near you? It probably wouldnt happen but hey its a idea!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Its already in its called VidiotMaps pack.

As for the rest the maps are too small with all our travel powers to make exploration particularly interesting.

A few days late, but OMG! That Talsorian shield looks fantastic! Fire shields, ice shields, giant clumps of rock, manhole covers... I never expected there to be such novel innovation, just expected your bog-standard metal plate with a handle I guess.

I'm really looking forward to seeing these in action. Seems there's a shield for just about every character concept, and I absolutely can't wait for I13 now!

Ooh we need an inverted Pan lid or dustbin lid...

    Fast Logout.

You have just realised for whatever reason you need to change character, and don't want to wait the full 30 seconds that logout to login again takes. While it is possible to quit to desktop and reload the game from scratch sometimes faster than those annoyingly long 30 seconds it isn't always.

Help however is now at hand, at the cost of opening a browser window (done by the game) you can logout to the login screen in one easy procedure.

    In the chat box type:

    /buy_coh

Or for further options mentioned below:

    /macro Quit "buy_coh"

Creates a button that brings up the popup, then click yes.

    /bind f12 "buy_coh"

Hit f12 to see the popup.

All of the above can have $$dialog_yes added to the end to auto complete the popup and thus exiting immediately. Thus

    /macro Quit "buy_coh$$dialog_yes"

    Currently I personally use:

    /bind lctrl+f12 "buy_coh$$dialog_yes"

    Notes:
Your character will actually remain online for thirty seconds so using this with mobs PvE or PvP is rather stupid as they will still be able to kill you.
If you try and login again within that 30 seconds you will be told that you are still online, you can ignore that message.

I always thought they were some form of recharge station... PPD Hardsuits would fit but also officers needing a quick rest and recharge before heading back onto the streets.

BTW the cells are traditionally downstairs not up!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Otherwise how could suspects "accidently" trip down the stairs during interrigation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well the advantage with havibg the cells upstairs is that the suspect could potentially trip and fall down the stairs more than once before making it to the top!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Disadvantages are that having them at the top a bust out just needs a helicopter.

    Day jobs

    30 days pah...

At least five of my characters haven't been logged in for 30 days plus now. One of my villains is currently about 90 days offline.

Should be 300 days to be meaningful.
  20. If as I'm guessing you're on Union anyway then you're undoubtedly in good hands. If on the other had you make Defiant your home, I know of at least one nice (not saying we're good ) SG that you could join. But its also not the most active of SGs. No prestige requirement though we do prefer you earn some, occasionally. We have a base with all the mod cons too...

Give me a shout if you need a home to lay your weary head. Names below...

It's a plain text file. Pretty much no different to what you see inside .demoedit files.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Good.

Looking forward with some anticipation to playing with it.

    [ QUOTE ]
text files of this kind are mostly made this way so you need X program to make your PC understand it, a bit the same as with a PPT file, you need power point to make it work but just opening it with notebook makes it plain text.

    [/ QUOTE ]
A text file is a file that is just text... that's why its called a text file. A file that is only read through another program can be called anything you want, if its not in text format it isn't a text file.

If you look at some files, you can read them as plain text with no interpreter but once you run them through an interpreter they can appear in a better light. HTML or something similar would be a perfect example of this. Open one up in notepad or another plain text reader and you can read them, open them through a browser and you get to see pretty colours and other interesting effects.

If FFM is to be believed, and I see no reason why he'd lie to me , then the file that is generated is a plain text file that can be read either through notepad or similar or by the game... I don't doubt you could use a command line pipe to read and understand it too.

The only possible issue would be if it included some form of write protection either in some form of check sum or something else that prevented files that had been modified from loading back into the game. Some save files for games are made this way to prevent tampering... more fun for me to work out how to circumvent such protection... (Yes I am a little odd.)
  22. [ QUOTE ]
for a game team, i don't see why something like this would be here anyway.
it's a waist of time and there are plenty of places to do the same..or even better, also the money isn't worth it if you consider that you need to keep a game running to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It was an important event in a good location, it brought people who had never played the game into it and allowed people who were already fans to meet not only the local NCSoft staff Rockjaw et al. But also some of the actual developers.

In terms of customer good will and advertising it was incredibly cheap, indeed as Gangrel says find somewhere else with 400 PCs so people can just show up and try out an MMO. while other venues are no doubt possible having a venue not only with the facilities and the PCs is a tall order.
  23. We (company I worked for from 2k to 2k+4) tried a similar venture at a time when internet wasn't quite so globally common and we failed. TBH I'm rather surprised they lasted a year.

Still sad to see them go...

Well, staves are also quite high on the list of requested powers - and that would still give you Robin Hood and Darth Maul, so it should keep everyone happy

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought Robin Hood used a bow and arrow?, hmmm, yes... pretty sure it was that thing with the string that you pull and a pointy thing flies out the other end.

    [/ QUOTE ]
A bow stave for a long bow when unstrung would resemble a more common stave.
