Quote:Which is why I agree only to the Follow-me/Stay-put concept with the restriction that you have to be in melee-range of the ally to actually tell them what to do. I suppose that if the Devs ever allow us this, to counter it, they could include a new setting in the AE ally definition screen which authors could use to disable the ally-commands thus making the ally stubborn and resistant to commandsThing is, you Allies behavior is dictated by the mission creator and I'm not sure about overriding their settings.
Quote:It would be nice if we had some other options in Ally behavior beside, 'Bump on a Log', 'Stop Touching Me!', and 'Kamikaze'. Maybe 'Whites of Their Eyes' would be helpful.
Granted it would also be nice if we had these kind of controls over our own pets.
Quote:Perhaps they could use a variant of the old SK code to gray out the 'follow me' command until the ally was close enough? -
Quote:To whoever misunderstood my post and thought I was talking about a "Cancel Changes" option, there's a huge difference between a "Cancel" operation and a "Revert" operation. You can only cancel changes while you're working on them, but you can always revert changes after you've already submitted them. The two operations are not the same, and I was referring to a case where a person has already customized their colors and finalized those choices only to later on realize they regret the whole thing and wanted to revert to the old color/theme.At the very least, I suggest a "Revert Changes" button on the Customization interface.
A Cancel button isn't what they need, they need a Revert, or Reset changes button. Sorry for not going into this much detail in my original post. I didn't figure it'd be needed. -
That much is surely true.

Quote:Yikes! Sounds very ouchy to me.I dare you to take on Madame of Mystery...
...Now she would be a pain in the tentacles!
Don't know about Scrappers, but whenever my PB faced a Carnie that had that power, I know I was hit rather hard. Not hard enough to kill me, just hard enough so the only thing I could do is tank the Carnie with taunts but not have enough endurance to actually activate any powers and maintain anything but Dwarf-form. -
To be honest, I've never really wanted to customize the appearance of my Kheldian powers but rather the appearance of my Kheldian forms. Being able to choose for example the "eye" color of my Nova/Dwarf, and add a sash to the Dwarf and tie scarves to my Nova's tentacles means a lot more to me than changing the colors of my blasts.
If anything excites me about I16's power customization it is the ability to choose a graphic theme to your powers for example, the Crystal theme usable on Earth Control powers than actually changing the colors themselves. Even that though is just a cosmetic that I wasn't ever bothered with. -
Quote:Which is why I: a) usually play my Kheldians well because; b) I don't play my Kheldians as often as I used to play CoH before getting my Kheldians to Lv50.I find Non-Kheldians aren't to be taken in large doses as I find them all very hard and frustrating to play due to their inability to do as well as well played Kheldians.
Quote:Wouldn't a recharge bonus, however, benefit the two types differently? Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems from what I've heard on this forum that WS would get a hell of a lot more out of that than PB. Maybe it would be better if WS got a recharge bonus and PB got something else, such as a regen bonus (just an example).
I speak for myself of course, when I say that I do not feel PB's need anything other than +Recharge in this case, even though sometimes we could all use some sort of protection against -Endurance/-Regen/-Recover effects. It simply seems to me however that with enough +Recharge, both Kheldian AT's have enough powers of their own to mitigate negative effects while maintaining their DPS, so +Recharge would be quite good to add. -
I'm not suggesting it'd be managed at all. I'm suggesting we could tell an ally to follow us, stay put, and on second thought, perhaps dismiss the ally altogether. If I told my ally to stay somewhere, I think it is very reasonable to have to go and find the ally if I require his/her presence again.

Quote:Not that I would object if toggle-dropping would return, or the debt-caps were brought back to what they were, but that is not what I want for the game. I definitely don't want a 'hardcore' game, but rather a more satisfying game. The difference is, that I get my satisfaction from having a proper challenge while fighting mobs and being mezzed is definitely a big part of that challenge at the moment. If we were to follow your idea that the game should be made more 'hardcore', the one shot rule should be restored, defensive toggle dropping should be taken back and hardcore debt caps put back in as well.
You probably never followed my posts, but as my first response to how weak I felt on my 1st ever Warshade (pre-Nova even, so less than Lv6), I did not ask for mez protection, but instead for the Lv1/Lv2 single-target hold that Controllers can get.
I'm all for active ways to mitigate things rather than passive ways, so adding a set of passive mez protection tools to AT's that are, in my opinion, all about pro-active gameplay tactics, doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
If the game didn't have IO's that add mez-resistance (so that people spend less time being mezzed) and Break Free inspirations, and temp buffing stations, and power-sets that contain tools to grant mez protation and remove mez effects, I'd be less reluctant to this idea, but as things stand, I cannot wholeheartedly support this.
Quote:As well, content and gameplay options are always welcome, but powers are a different department, so implying that changing something like mez would take away from the game isn't necessarily going to compete for resources. -
I take Grant Invisibility on my WS to be able to hide the fluffies... always makes me laugh when the enemies seem to not know what hit them when I de-stealth into Dwarf-form in their midst but my fluffies are already hitting them hard.
Same here, on both my PB and WS actually. For my PB I found the Presence Pool very helpful as I can now fear Bosses, but for my WS it feels like an overkill. The Medicine Pool is also a favorite as I can help with healing/rezzing people as well as use Stimulate on them so they'd get mezzed less often. -
Both Vessel of Light and TundraCommando have strong Human builds. TundraCommando has a Human-only build for sure, and Vessel of Light may have his support build as Human-only but I'm not sure as I'm usually too busy tanking/blasting stuff in our All Kheldian teams, because without a support build, that's about all I can do.
I'm pretty sure they would be willing to help if asked... -
Lets ask the Devs to change "For Fun" to "Srsbzns d00dz!" then
But to seriously address the issue of Kheldian graphic customization, I definitely agree we need something to clearly indicate we're all unique, especially when in Nova/Dwarf forms.
I don't really mind having Human-powers appear the way they do because quite frankly, Kheldians are still not so commonly seen as all other AT's are.
It is however when we're in our forms that things may get confusing, especially if one is in an All Kheldian ITF... -
Quote:Another end game addition, the Rikti ship raid, has a plethora of 54s, including Rikti Magi, who can pretty much mez and kill any squishy within a hit or two. Adding a little bit of mez protection would allow for squishies to be a little bit more survivable in those circumstances.Quote:Note that none of those are solo circumstances, and none of them are game breaking if you added mez protection or not. It's pretty much a QoL issue, like toggle drops, as far as I can see it. I never thought the OP was asking for mez protection akin to a tanker or scrapper, just something that makes game play a little smoother and less annoying.
It's been my experience with all content, especially including heavy mezzers, that zerging the opposition is supposed to work less efficiently than using tactics and working together as a team. Allowing squishies to avoid mezzing effects outside of the already available tools will, in my opinion, encourage more reckless gameplay encouraging the zerging mentality in a game that is already very casual-friendly.
In my opinion, that's not what this game needs. I think this game needs more variation in content, and more gameplay options, not more re-balancing activities and options that allow players to make the game less of a challenge on more characters than ever before! -
I want united servers!!! It's time to unite the NA and the EU servers and let us all play as a global community across the whole planet!
I always thought it was awesome how Superman, for example, could "belong" to any and every nation on the planet, shouldn't our Heroes have the same chance to win the hearts of all? -
I think that under the "For Fun" section of the forum, we should have a "Pleas for the Devs" section where this thread would feel at home...
-
Quote:/signed...it would be nice if we could right click on them and tell them to stay put...
Quote:...and then pick them up from a distance by telling them to follow us again.
I'd rather see a "talk-to" option for our allies that lets us tell them to stay put or follow us, just my opinion.

Spiffy, hold these marshmallows for me will'ya?
Quote:I think that some kind of mez protection would be good for the squishies...
Quote:It is too binary in many ways. Either you are held, or you are free, there is nothing in between. There should be a finer gradation in the mez system that would make mezzing and being mezzed more sensible.
About this thread and its ilk, it always seems ironic to me that when you get to the bottom of things in these threads, the people for mez protection for squishies are basically requesting it for the purposes of soloing, and usually it's not soloing normal-difficulty content that is the issue. Just saying...
-
Woah guys... sorry to derail the thread, but are you guys saying you're all in agreement that the -Res proc can make a character into a force-multiplier when before it was not considered one?
And do you guys consider Kheldians who, with each attack, refresh their minor debuffs of -Speed;-Recharge (WS) and -Def (PB) to be force-multiplier despite the debuffs not being constant toggle powers? -
-
Moar pweeeeze! Or there shall be cryin' and no more pie...
and loads of catgurlz will be eatin' kittenz'fore they die!
Can you tell I'm at work and bored while stuff's compiling and accessing Databases?! -
Quote:Easy enough so that everyone can solo +4/x8 content no matter the AT/power-set.I don't have a problem with a lack of mez protection on my squishies. It's not like they're not strong enough to win. If anything, the game's gotten easier and easier over time. How easy do we want it to be?
And yeah, if you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm just now. -
Quote:Umm... I... I... I was busy having fun and.. you know, chasing enemies to Mire/Eclipse/KABOOM their faces! But really, LX, you mean to tell me you can't monitor exactly what each member of your team is doing, mathematically comparing who is contributing more, and offer suggestions to improve their tactics... all while doing the Warshade Dance?
I thought you were better than that. -
I've never had a Scrapper "protect" me, whatever character I was playing. Every Scrapper I've seen in game, was always interested in chasing down enemies to kill them, and more often than not, it'd be the Scrappers that would cause the Defenders on the teams I was on, a headache by having to run after the Scrapper to heal it. Just stating my personal experience here.
The thing is though, that since Scrappers are melee characters, and have to chase enemies, even if a Scrapper chose to chase down a particular enemy because that enemy was attacking the Defender, no one would know this but the Scrapper. In fact, I think that in the heat of battle, no one pays much attention to what each teammate is doing. We're all in there trying to stay alive and fight the enemy and each character brings different abilities to the battlefield.
In my experience, no one has the time to monitor what everyone else is doing or how they're contributing to the team effort, and if you do have the time, you be may playing an Illusion Controller... -
Quote:I beg to differ Sam. Having an opinion of your own against constant barrage from others is already enough to stand up to a bully. You don't stand up to a bully by actually causing it bodily harm or forcing it to stop bullying you by physically hurting them.I'm not strong enough to stand up to bullies. I never have been. Nor, for that matter, do I believe it is a good lesson for people that the only way for them to be safe is to take up arms and fight all the time. This is a terrible, horrible view of the world, and quite frankly, a view I couldn't survive day-to-day if I had.
To stop most bullies, you have to show them that being bullied is not going to get the bully his/her way. Sometimes, if you go beyond that, you may even live to regret it... -
I was taught to disable, not to harm. First with a word, then with physical action, and if all else fails, a weapon. Believe me that taking a life, as justified as you may think you are, does not leave one without scars.
Another thing, if the justice you bring is agreed upon only by you, yourself and no-one but you, you're probably just being a bully -
Quote:I've discovered (in myself as well, naturally) that people quite often do not want to have to think about what they ready/see/hear. From an evolutionary stand-point, that is perfectly justified because the less time a specimen takes to process sensory data, the more time that specimen has to react and avoid dangers to its own existence.I actually did it for one post, and found it was fun to type, and that people found it amusing.
Sure, some people -rep me for it (anonymously, as normal) but I find that more people get a smirk out of it then go 'OMG lrn 3 speek!!1'
The problem with being a thinking animal though, is that our logic "circuits" as it were, evolved on top of our more primitive Fight-or-Flight "circuitry". OK, I'm oversimplifying things here, but I bet most people who -rep people for Rikti-speak in a CoH forum (Heaven's forbid there'd be some Forum RP because we all know Forum PvP is so much more fun) are the same people who need a TL;DR section for a one sentence post.
