'Stay', 'Follow' commands for Allies in MA

Sometimes I want my allies to stay in one place whilst I scout out ahead for a bit. I can of course take them way back down a few floors or what have you and then turn on SS and runa way from them until they get 'lost', but it would be nice if we could right click on them and tell them to stay put, and then pick them up from a distance by telling them to follow us again.

/unsigned, it feels exploitable or too dangerous as it may lead to the ally engaging in battles with patrols or ambushes that would either get it killed or lead unwanted adds to your location.

I'd rather see a "talk-to" option for our allies that lets us tell them to stay put or follow us, just my opinion.

How would you suggest distance from the ally be managed? As it stands, i was thiunking of just more options from the right click menu we've got already, with 'info' and 'follow'.

Yes, it would be convenient to have allies to be as well behaved as my thugs. Often I tried to tell them not to bother or go away. But do they listen? Not a chance. Because they are who they are and not one of your trusted henchman (who can be obnoxiously stupid sometimes as well).

In short, they are allies, not pets. Inconvenient as it is, it feels right that we cannot tell them what to do.

They could use the same code as for the scientists in Warburg. You can click on them and tell them to stay or follow, and that's the only options you've got. Something like this might make a few missions actually pleasant to play instead of frustrating (the hostage mission in Serpent Drummer's arc, that suicidal woman I can't remember the name of in the Midnighter introduction arc, etc).

I'm not suggesting it'd be managed at all. I'm suggesting we could tell an ally to follow us, stay put, and on second thought, perhaps dismiss the ally altogether. If I told my ally to stay somewhere, I think it is very reasonable to have to go and find the ally if I require his/her presence again.

Thing is, you Allies behavior is dictated by the mission creator and I'm not sure about overriding their settings.

It would be nice if we had some other options in Ally behavior beside, 'Bump on a Log', 'Stop Touching Me!', and 'Kamikaze'. Maybe 'Whites of Their Eyes' would be helpful.

Granted it would also be nice if we had these kind of controls over our own pets.

Sorry, i wasn't very clear. I meant how would the actual mechanics of it work?if the 'stay' command is accessed by right clicking on an ally, then it would act like the current 'info' mechanism. And that works as long as the ally is close enpigh to remain targeted. LoS isn't even needed. So the 'start following me again' command could also be chosen without the ally being near. Perhaps they coild use a variant of the ols SK code to grey put the 'follow me' command until the ally was close enough?

Which is why I agree only to the Follow-me/Stay-put concept with the restriction that you have to be in melee-range of the ally to actually tell them what to do. I suppose that if the Devs ever allow us this, to counter it, they could include a new setting in the AE ally definition screen which authors could use to disable the ally-commands thus making the ally stubborn and resistant to commands

Too helpful perhaps... so much so it may be exploitable?

Exactly like that.
