All those things I specifically said we don't need and that the people who want the walk emote would be completely unconcerned about.
Nice of you to speak for all those folks, but I for one want things to look as good as they can if they're going to be done. What's the point of an emote that doesn't do the job?
  2. It's the total number of people who have looked at the thread, including yourself, I think.
  3. Yes, they do. The cut off is kind of nebulous though, because some people have been able to lapse a few days and not have any breaks (my gf and I for one).

Activating the other account and logging the characters back in won't magically re-make the pact though. If they're over level 5, broke is broke, unless a GM can re-link them but I'm not sure they can.
  4. Additionally a special Vanguard themed Costume change emote.
  5. Depends on the Tanker. Almost any AT pair can work, but the most satisfying are Tank Blaster, Tank Defender, or Tank Controller. My personal opinion is a Defender with strong synergies to the type of Tanker would be the most interesting pairing long term. It also gives you more variability/utility on teams.
  6. The lack of Dev Digest is a known issue.
  7. Open your Powers window (above your tray) then click on Combat Attributes. Go through the list and right click on the items you want to see and select "Monitor..."

I generally Monitor XP to level (on non-50s), Inf, and last chance toHit, on all characters. Certain others I monitor Defense values, Endurance consumption and Recovery, Regeneration values, Mezz Protection, or Damage Bonus depending on individual needs.

I'll try to give less of a rip about random folks on the internet
I wasn't saying simply do as you please without concern for other people's feelings. Take the feedback into account and look at both sides of the coin. If someone told you something you said was annoying, then it was.

If that's what the comments were about, then I'd say I agree with the person who felt it was annoying. It's tone is borderline, and it really needs a broader explanation of your feelings than belongs in a sig. A short guide with a link in your sig would be less inflammatory. Even better would be to open a discussion in the City Life section and get a broader sample of people's feelings through the community instead of just promoting your way to do things.

Applying stilted and rigid interpretations of the rules invalidates the system just as much as playing a forum game to artificially inflate your rating. Let people do as they will, find an appropriate way to explain your feelings, and then do what you will in your own way.

Just today, for example, I had a positive reputation from someone who signed their name (thank you), and a negative reputation for THE EXACT SAME THING, with no name.

It bothers me because I feel like it's an attack I can't defend against.

How should I deal with it? Ignore it entirely? Change what they didn't like so I don't get further negative rep? Do what they suggest in hopes they will come back and give me positive rep?
I think the point is to make an effort to do more good things than bad things. Try to see issues from all sides instead of just your own, and worry less about defending yourself and pleasing other people, and more about doing what you feel is right.

additionally, part of the point of the system is that people aren't obligated to sign their name. It's anonymous feedback that gives someone the freedom to let you know something, without making a snarky post and derailing a thread.

If you feel someone broke a rule of conduct, then send a message to a mod.

It doesn't. They almost always release them right after the servers have been successfully patched and brought online. Your question would more accurately be stated: "Why do I expect the patch notes hours earlier than they should be posted?"

If they put up patch notes as soon as the servers go down, then something goes wrong, they have to not only roll back the patch, but take down the notes, and post something else to the effect that the changes you may be expecting won't be there. That's 1-2+ unavoidable postings/changes.

Under the current system, if they wait on the notes until they know it worked, then it's 0-1 postings. Overall more efficient and less confusing.

Yes, there have been times in the past where patches have to be rolled back hours or even days later, but at least under the current system most problems can be avoided.

IMHO it's silly! If the patch has been cleared for deployment, put up the patch notes including a link inside the updater when it's being deployed, not several hours later. ...but this has been going on for ages (well, more thn 5 years) so I guess we shouldn't expect the "policy" to change.
Posting patch notes before they find out if the patch is successfully deployed would be sillier to me.

There are a lot of links in all the stickied posts, gonna take a while to fix them all i guess
I really wouldn't count on it. Most things don't rely heavily on links. The few things that do (City Scoop, Guide to Guides) they will rely on the players to make or remake fixed/new versions.

It would be next to impossible to write a script to fix all the old links, and as much of a pain as manually fixing things is, it is a less labor intensive solution.

At least the Guides are mainly a matter of fixing links. wrt the City Scoop, we're discovering the new forums handle html in a very different fashion, and whether or not we can fix the old issues is still a bit up in the air.

Getting less of a reward is not a penalty, it's just a smaller reward.
People who play for fun, xp, what have you still get all those things, they just get slightly less of a bonus than they would for other harder tasks.

Basing rewards on the average runtime may lead to some occasions where it seems unfair for the people who take far longer, but when the alternative is that people run Katie 8-20 times a day to the exclusion of most all other content, then something has to be done.
  14. Disagreeing with you does not mean I'm flaming you. I simply pointed out that you can't claim someone "forgot" something you never mentioned, and that if you're judging the difficulty/value of a TF by the experiences of an obviously poorly skilled PUG, then your methods are flawed.

If I were new to the game and had less than 10 posts, I'd say the same thing. Don't bring up things that don't have any bearing on the discussion at hand please.
  15. The only person forgetting something you never mentioned in the first place, would be you. If running a TF more than once the same day is part of your equation for determining if it's "worth it" then say so.

PS- you said yourself you did this on a PUG. that means the problem is with your pug, not the TF 99 times out of 100.

    It's definitely worth thinking about.
Think again. I've played a Kin/Elec to 50, and you tend to pull a lot of aggro and soak a lot of hurt before you manage to sap anything to a notable degree. It is indeed one of the weakest Defender builds in terms of mitigation.
  17. Got a PM back from Castle saying he was going to fix this.
Agreed it wasn't a large dealio, but red numbers are a downer.

    This is correct.
  19. My solution has been to be patient and develop muscle memory. The arrows are always the same distance from the left margin. The page is always in the same place on my screen. My mouse is always in the same place on the arm of my chair. Thus the same practiced motion will get me to the arrow to click.

You should edit it back, because now you're wrong. Read the OP a few more times. If need be, look up Pentium 166 and 10baseT. Between the topic, describing his experience as "worthless" and the weak attempt at geekslam, I'd say he was belligerent.

There was a time, back when the two games were separate, that you could choose to upgrade an existing account with CoV access, or start a new account. However the website was not clear about the difference between UPGRADE and ADD, and many people accidentally created 2 separate accounts. In those cases, GMs would effectively combine the 2, by deactivating one of them and upgrading the other (your choice which). However that did not include transferring any characters on one account to the other. You lost access to one of them (unless you decided to pay the sub fee later, then you could reactivate it but it would still be for a single game).

Since then, all new and existing accounts have been granted access to CoH and CoV by default.

If you really want to prove you're better than that and don't like seeing it here, then deduct reputation from both posters and report both posts to the moderators for rule violations. Don't bother making a holier than thou speech, because a non-productive reply to a non-productive reply to a non-productive post is not the way to get the discussion back on track.
