Yes, because comics r srs bsns, and the fact that someone has a different opinion about a character than you smacks of heresy and the witch must be burned!

Yeah, like I said, no need to take it personally. Just because Aqua Man was your favorite, doesn't mean he was everyone's. Get over it.

I KNOW! But since that isn't who/what I was talking about, it's not really relevant to my point, is it?

It doesn't degrade my play experience. It degrades your play experience. You're asking to do encounters designed around a certain team size that in turn portrays a certain epic aspect not available to a soloist. TFs aren't designed to be groups of 3-4 per spawn, and even if you're willing to forgo rewards to see that, it cheapens it.

Then on top of this, if they did implement your allowance, we'd end up dealing with complaints from people like Ultimo_ who feel that if one character can start something, it should be designed such that one character can complete it.

You may not like being able to do everything at your own pace, but the idea of cheapening the difficulty of a very little content solely for the sake of a few players like yourself would end up having far worse consequences for the game in the long run.

As for the feeling of being rushed when teaming with people, I don't accept your premise that in order to complete TFs in 2 hours they need to be rushed. I completed a Positron with a team of 8 over double xp weekend, and it took 2 and a half hours. That's the second longest TF by most estimates, and we weren't rushing. We weren't killing every mob either, but we weren't trying to break any records. The +5 levels exemplar powers has made nearly all TFs smoother and easier with just 1-2 players above the cap. Not to mention that the exemplar xp rule change makes it even easier to form teams for them.

I like to type in my channels while I play too. That doesn't mean I feel incapable of doing so even when I'm on a Speed TF.

If you really want to solo TFs, you already can. You just need one person to leave an offline alt on the team and some other people willing to pad the start for you. If you're at all determined to play the way you want, you have an option and don't need to have the rules changed, when all the consequences of the recent changes haven't been fully datamined.

Postscript- Thought of an example: They added "Master of" badges to the game, along with enhanced difficulty settings. This very quickly led to people earning those badges on the -1 setting, making the content's difficulty trivial. The devs very quickly shut off the ability to change settings on TFs because of that (and the people getting easy Merits too, but there were multiple reasons).

In other words, the devs are very concerned about the cheapening of the experience, and reducing the amount of rewards isn't sufficient motivation for them to allow it.

    1) So? The run to the tram then through King's Row is nearly NPC free.
    2) I wasn't talking about Trina. King's Row Door, to Founder's Fall exit, into the canal, swim down to the Icon. Zero exposure to NPCs.
    3) I've gotten more +rep and demands to never change it than anything I've ever done. I have another good Avatar lined up, but I gotta appease the fans for a while

They locked the Day Job badge. You can earn time for it by logging off, but the badge will not award nor will you have the buff power unless you are 35+

You obviously fall in to type 1.
I, and the majority of the MMO populace actually fall within type 2 (with some degree of lean to one side or the other on certain issues.)
Lemur here is a type 3, at least on this issue. Regardless of what his specific fear, it still puts him in the type 3 mindset, which translates to "making the game easier is bad." No matter how much it it pointed out that his fear is unfounded (which it may or may not be), he will likely as not continue in his mindset.
Thanks for putting words in my mouth, but I'm not afraid of anything. I just feel in a game that is already 98% soloable, the emphasis should not be on making it 100% soloable for the few people that are incapable of doing a little advance planning or setting aside some extra time to play. Especially since the amount of effort needed and time required is so small.

It's great that they make an effort to keep every type of player happy, but there's a point where a game that's about playing online with other people has to be about that, or why not just make this offline?

Probably because they got reminded enough times that the rules used to be pinned in every section before the conversion, but were only in Announcements after. They got around to propagating the announcement and then maybe decided to get fancy about the coloration.
  9. Completely in favor of a more robust Difficulty/Challenge/Reward structure that can apply to ALL content (TFs, Trials, Story Arcs, even Raids).

Completely not in favor of the dumbing down of requirements on content to the point that you're playing the "lite" version. It's one of the (many) reasons I left my vacation in WoW, and it's something I'm not in favor of for this game's TFs.

If you can play for 2 hours at a stretch, you can do most TFs in the game (including LRSF). If time is really that tight, then engage in some pre-planning when it comes to getting your group together.

The emo-theatrics weren't necessary Deej. While BaB may not want to do it, that doesn't mean it's the end of the world and your hopes and dreams are crushed. He's one of many, and design choices are made by committee. Of course, considering he's Lead Animator and most of the work would fall on his lap, that means he would have a bigger vote than most anyone except Positron.

Was he flippant? Yeah, that's because he's a funny guy. Does that mean you need to take it personally? No.

Cross faction everything, not just MA. Just because they can't start the Vanguard arcs on their own doesn't mean anything is stopping them from participating with a mixed team running them. Same with a Ship Raid. They'd more than likely be a complete leech, and they wouldn't get bonus VMerits, however theoretically they'd get great xp and credit for the Ship Raid badges.

Issue 16 removed the level requirements for nearly all zones. The lowbies can't do vanguard arcs, or earn the day job badge (they can get credit but no award until 35), but they can enter the zone and join teams.
  14. Nope, doesnt work like that. When I've unlocked weapons in the past, it's simply a matter of finding them under the Weapon menu afterward. I haven't unlocked any Rifles recently, but I have unlocked plenty of Rularuu and Cimeroran Items in the last few weeks on my Mace/Shield Brute, and it's working normally as far as that goes.
  15. I've already had 2 fun ideas for Praetorian SGs. First would be an All Dom group that goes Hero, just to get a bunch of doms in Paragon for yuks.

Second is to make a Dual Pistols Defender as the leader, then find an SS/WP Brute, 2 Dual Pistol Corruptors, and 3 Dual Pistol Blasters, and mimic a Thug Mastermind.

So the fact that your thread was based on faulty information, specious reasoning, and hyperbolic conclusions doesn't deserve -rep? Or the fact that you defended those flawed ideas with a sense of attitude and rudeness that was borderline against the rules doesn't either?

Also, as there's no combat-able version of him in the game, officially, he's also probably the longest existing signature character to not have been defeated by a player.
Not in official content, but I have an arc with him in it.

All New environmental textures, new rules for lighting, shadows, reflections (on costumes and environment), and water. No radical reworking of the character models themselves, from what I saw.
  22. Most of the portraits were concept art, not cropped images of ingame models. At least, the slide show had a healthy mix and it was pretty easy to tell which was which. It would be cool to have a transcript or written version of Posi's keynote, and the slideshow, but there's limited utility in having high res images to pore over. Especially with regard to Signature Characters, since the chances of getting those costumes are slim to none.

I mean, we saw the Clockwork, and were told we'd get it as costumes. It's not a wild guess to think we'd get some Resistance and Praetorian Police pieces too, but that hasn't been confirmed, and those two slides were definitely just concept art images.
  23. I think you're going to have to explain the idea better, because I'm not really seeing what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that you want a new powerset, where the Zombie models use all the pistol powers of Thugs (for example)?

If that's what you're getting at, there are a few flaws with it.
    - Zombies move like zombies, humans move like humans. If you reskinned humans with zombie flesh, you'd have unrealistic looking zombies. If you came up with zombie specific animations, then that's just like making an all new MM set, from an fx perspective.
    - Limited utility: I just can't see too many people wanting a slightly different set of Zombies. The closer 2 sets are to each other, the more frustrated people tend to feel about the fact they can't switch and have to make a new character.
    - wtf moments: Sure, the idea of Gang War with zombies sounds awesome. But doesn't the entire idea kind of break down when you look at the Grave Knights and the Lich? I'm not enamored of the image of my bulky armored zombies standing around shooting instead of mixing it up, and the idea of a robed Magic User diving in and smashing like a brute seems odd.

Like I said, I feel like I'm not getting your idea. Please explain more.

Yeah, we already know how players feel when an MA change means they have to go back and edit all their arcs to work, I'm sure the devs wouldn't super enjoy going back through 5 years of content to do the same. Ah well, that's what summer interns are for. Bring in the flunky!
