This is the spin I fear they may use to excuse wiping out many, many more legitimately created costumes than such a fix would. It's really just an excuse to take the easy way out. If there are more technical issues in the way of doing the restore, as I expect there may well be, then that's another matter, but if this is the only reason they have then it is a lame one.

Quote:I'm afraid this is all they're going to do. Restoring the database information for costume power customization has some technical issues that are readily apparent and probably some I can't even begin to guess at.I did the same as you, putting in a /petition and now, it has been updated as a /bug. Sadly, I had already wasted 4 costume tokens to change what I-17 has reverted back...
At the very least, they should give us free costume tokens...
We'll see if they invest in fixing their mistake, or do the easy thing and sweep it under a rug of tokens. Thereby making the players pay the price of doing the actual work to repair the damage. -
Quote:I debated upon whether to PM him or reply. Since your links were already off the end of the thread I replied. Anyway, I'll reply again, mainly to put your links back in a more prominent position in the thread.I PMed him Kosmos and yes it was that Dell. I believe he went and ordered it from BestBuy after our chat.
I'm leaning the other way, towards a slight variation on your budget build. I'll probably bite the bullet and pay for the Phenom II X4 965, since all of the other upgrades I want when I can afford them will just be add-ons and won't drive up the final cost while the CPU upgrade would be a replacement (obviously).
The other quandary I have is the PSU. I'm not a fan of SeaSonic, but really don't have much experience with them (just one, and it was a hand-me-down that died on me). I'd like to put a bigger PSU in there for more upgrade headroom, and from a brand I'm more comfortable with, but it seems it's either a significant amount more money up front or a less efficient PSU that will cost more in the long run. Do you have any opinions on this RAIDMAX PSU? I've never used a RAIDMAX. [EDIT: Never mind, they just upped the price on that PSU 70%.]

Tech Support has apparently upgraded my support request to the level of a bug report: I got the same canned message as you get with /bug when it passed to the latest person handling it. I've had responses from four different people at tech support, so it's gone up the ladder pretty quickly.
Hopefully whoever now has the hot potato is reading this thread. So, presuming that, I'd like to re-iterate that I can find no client-side issues. I can edit costumes with power customization and utilize them with no problems.
It appears to be nothing more or less than lost info in the server-side database.
What I fear is that the easy answer will be to issue free costume tokens. Having to use my Anniversary gift of free tokens on this is just adding insult to injury, and more tokens would simply remove the insult, not the injury. I would still lose hours of play time fixing things someone at NCSoft or PS broke. -
Quote:I'm not sure if that Dell is still available at Best Buy. Unfortunately, these days Best Buy is about the closest thing to a computer store as there is in the Palm Springs area, so I'm more conversant with their options than I'd like to be.Thanks for the update Father Xmas. How does your $750 rig compare to the $1149 Best Buy/Dell one you recommended a couple of weeks ago? What am I getting for the additional $400?
Thanks again for all your work on this. :-)
They currently have an i7-860 based Dell for $1100. It's not a bad deal. Compared to Father Xmas' budget machine the Dell has a better processor, more RAM, a larger (but inferior quality) hard drive, a multi-format media reader, wireless LAN, Dell's warranty and some bundled software such as MS Works. Oh, and a mouse and keyboard. That i7-860 CPU in the Dell benchmarks out roughly three times as high as the Althon II X2 245 in the budget machine. The Dell has twice the RAM (8GB to 4GB). And it has a 1TB 7200rpm SATA drive instead of 500GB, but the one Father Xmas uses is a single platter. The video card is probably an inferior brand to the XFX, the Power Supply is also probably inferior (perhaps quite a bit inferior), and the case could cause issues with upgrades.
Spending that money to upgrade Father Xmas' build could net you a better processor (the Phenom II X4 965 Black) for around $125, the additional RAM for $105, you could add a second 500GB HDD for $55. That takes you to $1035 versus the Dell's $1100 and a slightly better core machine versus all the little things Dell adds (Media reader, wireless LAN, warranty, bundled junkware). -
Well, the server speculation seems to be a bust. I was just tossing it out there as a possibility as to why there seems to be so little outcry over this. I'd really have expected a LOT more noise if it was everyone, everywhere having the problem.

You're the first person I've heard, online or on the forums, say that they do in fact have characters with power customization on costumes in slots other than the 1st that retained their settings.
-
I'm wondering if perhaps this is only affecting some, or just one, server(s). I'm on Guardian, and recognize a couple of the others posting as being here too. Unfortunately, I can't swear that I customized anyone on other servers, so I can't test to see if they're affected too.
-
Apparently Tech Support is telling you something different than what they wrote to me. Which was that my support request regarding my multitude of broke power customization settings may take some time to process due to the volume of tickets they are currently receiving.

Quote:It's a known bug effecting all staff-like weapons.I looked all over the usual places that bugs would show up on the boards, and couldn't find anything about this... so apologies if this is a double post.
Has anyone noticed the casting animation for the vet attacks (Nemesis Staff, Blackwand) seem to be bugged? Instead of the usual "Draw the weapon --> Overhand cast" to starting off with the weapon towards the ground, then flicking it upwards to cast. I tried this on two different characters, so I don't think it's isolated.
If it's a change to the casting animation, it's herky-jerky and not an improvement at all.
Is it happening to anyone else? -
-
This is very unlikely to have anything to do with client versions or settings, it looks very much like a server-side database screw-up. I'd really like to hear if there is anyone with a character using Power Customization on slot above the 1st that does NOT have this issue.

Quote:Do you have partially filled bid orders? That is 4 of 10 bought? All,
I can put things into WW's, and I can sell them. I can collect my money from sold items. But I cannot BUY anything.
Well... I can buy them, but I cannot get them after the bids are won. I click on the stack of items, but the "get" button is greyed out. Am I the only one having this problem? Or is there just some secret way to get the fracking things?
-
I hope they can fix this, as it looks like I have about 100 costumes that were broken. So much for "free" costume tokens.

Quote:Well, by definition it's urine because of the presence of urochrome - which is yellow. However, in my experience urine tends to either be more orange or clear color then yellow.
If your urine is orange it's probably from lots of vitamin C or carotene. If it's clear then you're probably drinking lots of fluids so that the urochrome is diluted.

Just rampant speculation from people reading things into dev comments and a mistake made on the training room.
Don't get your hopes up; "unsubstantiated" means there's really no reason at all to believe it. It's just that this answer left nothing else to hope for. -
Quote:That's the worst CoH news I've received in quite some time. Not only is it not on the way, it's not even planned.Originally Posted by TheOchoThe Going Rogue page states that we will be getting extra character slots, can you clarify for us if this means that we'll be able to have more than 36 slots on one server or is this just free character tokens that we'll have to use on other servers? by CounterAgent
[Ghost Falcon] Players will receive two (2) "Character Slot" tokens which they can use to unlock any "locked" character slots. If a player has unlocked all available slots already on a server, the player will only be able to redeem those "character slot" unlocks on another server. There are no plans at the moment to expand the available Character Slots beyond 36 slots per server.
Hopefully the unsubstantiated rumor about cross-server play is true. -

You're commenting on the "dark read" and not the "pee green"? The latter seemed to cry out for a "consult your doctor" response.

Interestingly enough, that is a William Wallace quote, but not THAT William Wallace. The one who wrote that was William Ross Wallace, the 19th Century American poet, not the Scottish hero. So the Braveheart writers can't take credit either.

Quote:It shouldn't be (ArcanaTime + CastTime) in the denominators, just ArcanaTime.
I know about City of Data. I'm actually asking for the raw formulas, though.
So,
DPA = FinalDamage / (ArcanaTime + CastTime)
and
DPS = FinalDmage / (ArcanaTime + CastTime + FinalRecharge(in seconds)),
where ArcanaTime = [RoundUp(CastTime / 0.132) + 1] * 0.132 ?
I'm actually new to the term ArcanaTime. Had to Pwiki it.
[Edit:] I also prefer to use DPS only for chains. I use DPC (Damage Per second of Cycle time) for what you're terming DPS. -
Well, I see the OP posted in the thread for Vox's Inv/SS/Fly guide a couple of weeks back. Stick to that plan. Personally, I'd make it a priority to do a respec TF and iron out the kinks. If you've already burned all your respecs you can get another in just a few levels (34).
-
Get Rage ASAP. You may want to consider a respec to recoup a couple of slots out of Resist Physical Damage, which definitely doesn't need 4 slots, as well as the 3 slots in Rest.
For now, follow the plan to add Rage and slot it up at your next two levels and change the enhancements in your powers more like this...
Get basic Acc and EndRdx into each attack then go for Damage. It looks like you have enough attacks to not need a lot of Recharge in them. Especially without Stamina. I'd even consider swapping a 2nd EndRdx into Haymaker and KO Blow in place of the Rech I have there-
Jab: Acc, EndRdx, Dam (add a 2nd Dam soon)
Punch: The same
Air Superiority: Acc, EndRdx, 3 Dam
Haymaker: Acc, EndRdx, Rech and 3 Dam
KO Blow: Acc, EndRdx, 3 Dam, Rech
Taunt: Rech, Taunt
Hover is sort of a misfit for Super Strength because of the requirement to be on the ground for Foot Stomp. But if you use Hover for Defense or want it thematically then you probably will want a 2nd slot in it soon so you can get around better. Make sure Swift has a Fly Speed in it, not a Run Speed, if you intend to use Hover in combat. If Hover is just a place holder, then never mind; and also, respec out of it later.
As for your defenses, Invincibility, Temp Invuln, Unyielding, Dull Pain and Tough Hide are the core powers for Invuln. I'd agree with Recharge in DP before Heal. The only thing I'd really say should be changed is RPD. Beg, borrow or steal a Steadfast Res/Def IO. Without slotting a special IO of some type that 4th slot in RPD is wasted and the Steadfast globals are the most cost effective single IO in the game for an Invulnerability character. It's worth the money and if you don't have the INF you can do AE missions and make Bronze ticket rolls in the 10-14 range until you get one (or make the money needed for it off your rolls).
Lastly, get Health and Stamina ASAP. Since Rage and Foot Stomp are musts that puts Health at 35 and Stamina at 41. But I'd respec before then myself to shuffle those slots around. At that time I'd lose Hover to get Stamina earlier. I'd also consider dropping one of Punch or Haymaker to get Hasten to help cycle Rage, Foot Stomp and Dull Pain faster. -
Quote:1) Sounds like you're having the same problem mentioned in the other Trial account thread in this forum. You should contact Support if it persists more than a few hours. It really should not take more than a couple of hours tops for the Account status to get updated.1) It says my account type is Standard. I also have a receipt showing that I activated the account, and the Trial Account button no longer appears on my HUD, nor am I prompted to buy the full version.
2) He can log the ACCOUNT in, but when he clicks on "Create Character", it takes him straight to the Hero creation screen, and doesn't even prompt him to choose Hero or Villain. Also, he made a hero and played to level 6, but now it tells him the character is still logged in and the Log In option is greyed out.
2a) This is really odd. It sounds almost as if your friend somehow got a CoH only Trial Account rather than CoH/CoV. I didn't think that was possible. Did you download the client recently?
2b) By the "Log In option" do you mean the arrow labeled "Enter Paragon City" at the bottom right of the Character Selection screen? Let's go step-by-step: (a) He starts the client, (b) logs in using Account Name, Account Password and the green "Log In" button, (c) he selects a server in the "Select a Server" screen, (d) it brings up a menu of characters and open slots with names, "Create Character", "Buy Additional Slots" or something about redeeming slots, (e) he clicks on his hero to select him and the slot becomes highlighted (brighter), (f) he then clicks the "Enter Paragon City" button with the arrow on it, (g) it tells him his character is already logged in. Is that the sequence? If so, what happens if he retries the "Enter Paragon City" button? (It's common to get that "already logged in" message if your client crashed or was terminated abnormally, and usually just trying to log in again works. Though I'm guessing there's something more substantial going on here and that you're going to have to contact tech support to get it straightened out.) -
1) Are you sure you upgraded the Trial account rather than creating a new account? Go here and use your master account login (this may differ from your CoH login). Over on the right side there should be a menu that has "Game Accounts". Check any that have the CoH icon indicating they are CoH accounts by clicking on them and looking at the "Account Type" listed near the top of the top left box.
2) This one is a mystery to me. It sounds like two problems to me. I have no clue about the problem with creating a villain. The inability to log back in may be a problem with case sensitivity in the login/password or possible mistakenly using the master account login/password instead of the game account login/password.
