  1. There is a little tab in the bottom right corner that you can turn off recipes you don't have merits for and recipes you don't have materials for (I think it is those two). Just want to double check that tab.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    Grow thicker skin.

When I'm forming a team, I send a tell to everyone that's A) not in a team and B) doesn't display "accept no invites". I figure out SK/Exemplaring later. I send a TELL mind you, not a direct invite. But people still get pissed.

You know what? I ignore them. I'm only sending them one tell, they can deal with it. It's the fastest and easiest way to get a team full and most importantly, it WORKS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Makes me wonder how many "Sorry no thanks." I've sent you over the course of my playing. Not a big deal, just a curiosity thing, I solo a lot.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
All of those things and more. I assure you from what I heard from Ocho today, the new forums will be the cat's meow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But I wanted all that and a bag of chips.

  5. [ QUOTE ]

Its that when you compare a Defender to a Controller or a Corrupter you know in your heart that you got the short end of the stick. Its like when your older sister gets a car for her 16th birthday and you get a computer for your 16th birthday. Maybe you can find ways to use the computer and be happy, but you really wanted the car.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you don't solve this discrepancy by asking daddy to take away your sisters car and if you want a car too expect it to be in the same price range and be prepared to give up your computer.

I'm not going to argue that there isn't a "problem" but it's not where everyone wants to put it. I've played controllers, I've played defenders. Those pretty controls don't do a whole heck of a lot when blasters, Defendes, and scrappers are melting mobs before your AoE has recharged. Due to this you aren't sucking up the containment bonus unless you are paired with other controllers so this mystical damage spike becomes moot, and on the content where all these buffs and debuffs are really needed the controls fly out of the window because of the purple triangles.

What this argument is really about is "Defenders don't solo fast" (or more accurately "Don't solo fast unless built for it") not "Who brings what to a team" so stop trying to knee cap controllers because your solo-e-peen is made tiny by a well built solo controller.

I prefer it when Defenders talk about their problems without trying to Nerf Controller's in the process. This is like the old Scrappers do too much damage and have almost the same defense as Tank arguments, which while true on one level where flawed because in top end team content those 5% points added up fast. Different classes do different things and if you need a buff please don't get it on the backs of another class with a different focus.

Reminds me of every hair-dresser I've ever had.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know just for the record it is very difficult to cut your own hair.

Reminds me of this old logic puzzle.

You are in desperate need of a hair cut while in a strange town, there are only two barber shops open. You enter the first one and the place is spotless and the barber has a perfect haircut and greets you as you step in. You enter the second one and see it's a mess, the floor covered in hair clippings and the barber's hair is horrible. Which barber shop do you go to.
  7. [ QUOTE ]

How would you like it (Smurphy, or any of the other "I'll just leave" folks) if you're playing a board game -- Risk, Monopoly, whatever -- and as soon as it becomes clear who's likely to win, one of the players walks away without a word (whether they're being a smug winner or a sore loser)? That's rude. I team to play with you. As a team member. If we were playing board games, sports, whatever else in person, you wouldn't walk away from the game without a word. Computer games need not be any different.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've never played in a rec center on game night, the open gaming room at a game con or online have you? That's pretty much the way it works. Oh you may get a "Gotta go" but usually its glance at watch or phone collect up cards, game pieces what have you and run. (Really common at cons when people want to attend panels or catch an event.)
  8. Explanations? Yeah my cat is on fire and my mother dropped a whole bunch of acid and kidnapped a school bust full of penguins and well I just have to go. That is so helpful.

Meanwhile "That other MMO?" Which one? In WoW you stay in a group till you finish the task at hand, be it an instance or Elite kill. FFXI you are attached at the hip with your group until you absolutely have to leave the computer, be it your house is on fire or your cath bag ruptures. EQ until recently you didn't leave a group for fear of being branded unreliable. Nope the 2 missions then bolt thing has always been stronger in CoH then anywhere else and it got worse with radio missions. With it's lack of dependence on the holy trinity and it's 10-15 minuet mission structure, unless you where on a TF you expected someone to leave after they got their fix. I think it's people from "Other MMOs" who are shocked by this behavior.

Nope groups in this game unless you are dealing with SGs or buddies are pretty flighty bunches. People leave because the XPs per minuite are too low, because they die one too many times, the team chatter sucks, they got their task done, it's the fourth radio mission and their task hasn't been picked. . .The nice ones tell you about their burning cat or five year old gnawing on the computer cables, but most just hit that bright shiny quit button and hop off. Heck even I do it, finish the task at hand, say "GG got to go" *QUIT* I feel pretty safe that after the Mayhem/Safeguard is finished, the AV is down, the TF/SF is over, they don't need my life story and I really don't want theirs, I infer that like me they want to move on with their game.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
ONE??? I can't choose one feature, so I'll try to limit myself to two.

    1) Completely destructible environments.

    [/ QUOTE ]

After the failure and horror that was Auto Assault I never want to see Completely Destructible Environments again. Honestly Paragon would end up looking like Boomtown.

As for the thing 2 things I want.

TF's no number limit (even if you don't down scale the AV, I duo and me and partner can take on an AV) and scour all the game to remove every last simultaneous click mission, especially the pain that is the 8 man Cavern of Transcendence.
  10. Re:Capes.

There is a very early Batman where Batman has his cape grabbed by a villain, after that in the next comic he points out that indecent all his capes where tear away. If Bob Kane could figure it out in the early 40s I'm sure most people could figure it out today.
  11. Just board and picking through this.

I love heels in this game, sure they aren't realistic but then neither is anything else my characters do and just like I wish I could fly around and shoot lasers from my eyes, so do I wish I could run at 35mph in heels all day and have gravity defying breasts.

Meanwhile some of the points in this thread remind me of the hand waving in the old Dirty Pair comics/amine (one of the progenitors of the Girls With Guns In Bikinis genera and inspired by woman's wrestling if it matters), once personal force field technology became cheap enough to give to all their agents, the WWWA learned that putting their more attractive agents in skimpy outfits ruined the combat efficiency of the typical outlaw type. Regardless of it was due to the old chivalric codes that many of them held to "I just can't shoot a half naked girl" or the fact that the agents where trained to fire while the bad guys where oggeling their ta-tas.

Of course most of my characters where the really impractical pencil skirt, there is no you cannot run in one of them, thanks for playing, with tops with skins and variations of the vest and jacket tops.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

P.S. Sometimes all I want to do is level up at Ms Liberty or some other practical thing and with an invasion on, forget it. I have to just quit the game and go do something else instead. That's frustrating.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah because it is so darn hard to get to Galaxy or Kings, Or Steel, or Skyway. . . and that 5-10 minuets of Rikti Raid is just a killer.
  13. I imagine all boss maps shall not be closed since bosses have boss appropriate powers and therefor do not break the risk/reward calculation.

The devs loosely define farming and would prefer that we not do it, but they only punish expletive behavior.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Because everyone else is doing it is the best reason not to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But, but, but, everyone else is breathing and I've gotten sort of kind of use to it myself.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

I don't get it. It seemed pretty clear to me. Guess people will read what they want to read, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wishful thinking would be my guess. You read it correctly but then let your desires make you second guess what you read. It's like when you get that Publishers Clearing House letter and your brain skips over that "May", in "You may have won $10,000,00.00!"

Oh my. Someone got defensive there.

"Intelligence" might not have been the best word choice for me to use, I saw it coming, but didn't really feel like editting it.

I'm not gonna pick through all the garbage in your post at 3 am though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Translation.

I said a trollish stupid thing, I knew it was stupid and trollish and now that I've been called on it I'm not really going to defend myself because I was being a stupid troll.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No. I mean't what I meant, I could have phrased it better though, like I said. I have always held my same opinion about melee ATs compared to ranged ATs for years, and I've said it many times over.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I'm sorry I guess the proper translation was.

I know I was trolling and I know it is a baseless opinion that I can't defend very well but I stand by it and I will continue to feign innocents while I continue to troll.

Sorry for giving you the benefit of the doubt there.

  18. My current dark/wp scrapper is going to change the yellow glow of WP to a nice baby blue or pink.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Does this mean we can make the travesty that is Hasten go away?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you notice on the actual page here no pool powers are listed.
  20. You know, just because I like pointing out stuff. Super Speed is not on the list of color changeable powers.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I've played this game with my arm in a cast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was playing with 3 broken ribs, a quarter deflated lung, a dislocated finger, and a mild head injury. Of course what else is there really to do in a hospital room at 3am?

Edit Add: Of course that is not to say I was playing well.
  22. I just look for crap that makes me go "Wow I wish I thought of that."
  23. <QR>
You know back in the dusty days of the early part of the game my account was neither hacked or stolen, my crazy ex decided to change my passwords to all my games. What it took to re-claim my CoH game was I had to call NCsoft and present them with my original CD key, billing address and credit card info, they then had me fax a copy of the original CD key. It was neither easy or fun.

I'd go with a SS/Inv brute. A brutal viscious killer with no angst or remorse. I know, shocking, but I think it's a neat idea to make a vampire that kills people and drinks blood. I'd certainly be unique.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Truth.

I remember when vampires were unholy monsters who fed on humans like cattle. Nowadays they're sparkly teen sex symbols. Next up: Zombies in love!

...Oh wait, that was Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hate to break it to you we had zombies in love way before sparkly vampires.
  25. Wrong. I neither hate or love the AE and I think pie is like the worst thing you can do to fruit or meat.
