Quote:Thanks, edited. Seems like posting the mobile links from my iPad doesn't give the correct video... which sucksThat link pointed me to a list that has nothing to do with CoH - maybe directly link to the video you meant to show?

Quote:Oh the bolded part sums up exactly how I feel about the set. It's not the lack of AoE- Cutting Beam recharges plenty fast, it's the 'Oh God I hope it spreads now before the enemy dies' feeling. I also prefer my DP corr and I had to roll 3 toons to make DP looks not sucky to me (and of course I know the same combo with another primary would likely be more damaging).Beam EM with incarnates, Range Cap, Hover blaster. When I can get off Disintegrate with snipe followed by Overcharge it can be great seeing a bunch of mobs dropping. Cutting beam will clear out the rest.
I don't feel for what it suppose to do that it is very consistent. EG Energy you know your gonna get knockback, Rad your gonna get debuff. Beam you might get disintegrate, you might get spread.
Its not a bad set but I enjoy my AR Device much more even though it might do less dps.
Since you seem to use only the BR attacks (hover blaster and all), did you find any of them lackluster/skippable plainguy? Would you skip the tier 1 (asking because you probably didn't since you're a blaster)? In DP it's easy to see that Piercing Rounds is kind of a stinker since it only does -res with standard ammo. -
Lol that's okay Siolfir, you know, I like /Nin so much that it's not impossible that I'll make a third reroll of my ELM lol (ELM/Regen, now /EA) - although I do want to test the new EA IOed up. And the Stalker forums are kinda slow anyway
- you already helped because my OP actually made Heavenly think I was after a PvP build.
Have you incarnated any Stalker? I got most of what I mentioned for concept and because they're useful for me, but I have serious doubts on Destiny... My current build has 45% melee / 50% ranged / crap AoE (and stamina lol) and she already does well enough with 1 small luck or external buffs so I'm thinking Barrier may not be optimal (and for some weird reason my Stalker received lots of Fortitudes on all the iTrials, I felt so special).
People tell me that Rebirth is not that hot on the +HP branch, and since I want to get one that can be useful on most iTrials I'm considering Rebirth +regen or even Incandescence - would be perfect for a Stalker when things go south. Well maybe basic Incandescence and getting Rebirth to T3/T4. -
Quote:What's a 'good toon'?If you have not run Apex/Tin Mage until they are routine, do so.
There is no encounter in any iTrial yet that is not foreshadowed in those two taskforces.
In addition, they are insanely profitable. Once you know how it's not difficult to run both in 45 minutes, and you get 80 merits plus reward tables.
Yes, you do need good toons. -
I know someone will be more helpful, but to be honest? I'm done with the Mac client. Mine crashes once per hour even on performance settings.
I have a top end 2011 iMac 27' and play at 2560x1440 at almost max ultra settings and I can play for 12 hours without crashing if I want. The same way I played on performance for hours and hours on my old mac mini core duo with intel gfx, and my fps never dropped even on rikti raids.
Hoe did I manage that? I run CoX on windows 7 via Bootcamp. The Mac client is garbage.
(Although since Mac OS X - the system - is so damn memory hungry, you might want to use the max RAM you can in your system - Everymac says your mac can handle up to 6gb although Apple officialy says 4) -
Quote:To be honest I wasn't even surprised or mad. Yeah that sucks a lot, but it actually did not surprise me one bit to the point that I just thought 'meh I have to put all my powers back'. Not that I don't see a reason to get angry, it's just how my expectations are these daysWell.. managed again to give an update that now gives me the holiday temps and at the same time REMOVES ALL OTHER POWERS FROM MY TRAYS!

The real question is, is there ANY Brute with problems generating Fury after the change?
The worst offender was Mace/Dark using Oppressive Gloom because that combo can stun the whole world, and I heard complaints about that relating to Fury, but I guess even they can maintain 70% Fury most of the time nowadays. -
The thing about the self heals is that they cost 10.4 end (Healing Flames, Dull Pain, Earth's Embrace, Energize) so you don't quite feel it because you'll be using them instead of an attack usually - and 10.4 end is about the cost of a level 8 attack such as Thunder Strike, or just a bit more than Bone Smasher (8.5) and less than others like Heavy Mallet (11ish).
So when I use the self heal on my em/nin stalker or my ss/fire brute I barely feel the end cost, and they're slotted mostly for rech and heal (the usual doctored wounds setup).. Total Focus on my Stalker is far more noticeable since it costs 18.5 end and I use it way more often than Kuji In Sha, same as KO Blow on my Brute, also 18.5 end, used way more often than healing flames. The other ones I have are elec, ea and ice so they have end management tools, stopped caring about endurance on my sm/elec brute even when she had a single rech SO on Power Sink. -
Well Test_Rat, despite being bitter on the forums lately, is a very nice player (teamed with him plenty before I took a break) who made top end builds for a lot of stalker combos, and if he said his spines/nin felt more damaging than his elec/nin I believe him. I'm leveling an elec/ because I dislike spines, didn't work for me as a scrapper, didn't work for me as a Dom (/thorns plays a lot like Spines).

I just did my first MoM. First thing the leader did was saying 'if you need help, please say now'. I said 'I never did this'.
He explained it to me nicely and succinctly, I didn't even die.
It was very nice because I've done about 5 successful Keyes (never failed one) but I'll have to read up because I had no idea what was going on, on any of these (and 3 of them were when they were 'harder' - I don't even know what changed, nobody would explain the trial to me even though I asked).
OTOH I see Snow Globe's point, people sometimes don't even read obvious things. Like, Lambda. Done plenty of them, failed only once, but almost EVERY time I see that text 'MARAUDER WILL USE THE NOVA FIST BACK AWAY' (quite obvious right?) I back away and I fully expect 5-8 players to die at least, and it goes like that every. Single. Time. -
I just did my first MoM tonight. Leader was very patient to explain it to me. I ignored the patches except when they overlapped and gave me like 75 dot, but *only* because there were an absurd amount of heals in the team, I was on a Stalker, I didn't even die, and some people did.
Although the team was very experienced except for me, I asked if it would be too hard without heals and they said 'yes'. Not a problem on my EM Stalker because when there was too much dot I used the PvP tactics of queing Total Focus/Energy Transfer and running past the AV so that I would execute the slow attack when I was far, but certainly a problem for a Tanker who would stay all the time there.
Right after that I was rejected on a MoM by another player because I was a Stalker (first time in three years that happened to me, and on freedom, so I wasn't upset). 10 minutes later the same guy was 'BAF forming'. So it must be kinda hard for some team compositions (I guess, when I did it there was a ton of heals, even my Stalker didn't feel the patches). -
Quote:Not really. I only logged one toon since the patch - A Stalker I hadn't played for almost 2 years and decided to incarnate her - all trays empty (I had logged her for a bit before the patch and it was alright).No.
It appears to be newer characters that are affected. I have characters that are fine, and some that are borked.
People told me it's kinda random, that both new lowbies and toons with 3 filled trays are getting this. And in some cases nothing happened to some player's toons. -

Quote:Dude seriously, I don't get it either.Never thought Id see the day a bunch of grown men (and probably some ladies in here as well) sitting around discussing My Little Pony.
I enjoy cartoons as much as the next kid, but Archer, American Dad and The Venture Brothers are more my thing.
Im not hating, just saying...not sure I get it.
I only watch animated movies like Toy Story and Pixar stuff when all my friends insist, or when I have a gf and she wants to see, I don't even like those, I like drama, comedy and things women hate like... Expendables and... The Hostel! Last cartoon I liked was the Simpsons, and Family Guy for a bit (but those are not kid shows).
Then I saw the two first episodes of My Little Pony and found it entertaining... And then I watched the 13th episode because I was told the show gets better after half the first season... Next thing I know, I watched all 36 episodes in 1 week and I'm 4 episodes of Dexter behind, the only series I watch the day it comes up (or used to lol).
It was like...

Quote:Besides ingame info like Turbo said, you can go to City of Data - http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/powers/ - or download Mid's hero Designer - http://cohplanner.com . Then you can compare recharge times, debuff values with other sets like rad, cold, etc.How does one "see" the values of debuff to know what is strong or weak debuff?
I always found TA quite the lousy set, but the guy that annoyed my Dom the most in PvP was a TA/A. He couldn't kill me but made my life hell, and when I was close to getting him either he used Phase or his friend BS/SR scrapper with invisibility would show up and Headsplitter me - I couldn't touch the /SR guy because my dom is ice/psi so no attacks like mind that aren't positional. Good times tho, I miss the variety of builds in the old pvp, you saw toons of all kinds, even Stone Tankers, energy blasters, at least in casual zone they could have fun (yet the 'friendly i13 pvp' made 80% of the builds useless like my dom who relied on slows or the bunch of defensive based toons like all the Ice/EM tankers I used to see). -
Ok so while nobody helps me (which is okay because I'm finding it hard to keep these numbers I got for rech/etc without purple sets except for the confuse one, and also cap AoE, which is the only shortcoming I see - Heavenly's build is great but is 100 billion and has no AoE but it's a PvP build, like mine is currently but without sharkz because I stopped PvPing in i13), I can't decide on the Destiny Slot.
Got her to T4 Agility which is lovely (33% rech/20% def/33% endmod/33% movement, the radial branch), got my lore pets (Polar Lights, high-defense ranged pets that are also subtle and have assault), with Vorpal (yes subtle again and I'm very mobile so I like cones, smashing is not that resisted so I find Vorpal pretty good) and Diamagnetic interface (because everyone and their momma has Reactive and if I were to change Stalkers I'd up the AS debuff and throw other debuffs like the Rogues in other games, although I know the numbers on -tohit and -regen aren't that hot).
But I can't decide on Destiny. I don't have end problems and I'm okay with the recharge, even now that she doesn't have the same base global rech as the build I posted. I was thinking about Barrier Radial (+def/+res and you can rez somebody, even two somebodies), my only other incarnate was easy, I went Spiritual/Ageless/Reactive because he's a SS/Fire Broot nonstop carnage machine, but I wonder if there's another Destiny that would be helpful to me and the team? Rebirth also looks good (especially for +maxhp with the upcoming changes) and I don't understand exactly what Incandescence radial does with so many effects it seems to have.
Thanks! -
Quote:I finally gave my 50 EM/Nin Stalker (1st villain) a lot of playtime after 2 years. While I found out I still love her and I even thought I was helpful in the myriad of BAFs, Lambdas and even an ITF (then again on the ITF I was the only level shifted toon and most weren't 50), I have to watch when to use Total Focus or ET so I don't corpse blast. She has a PvP build with stamina, stealth, SJ, SS and I'll try to make her more AoE friendly with Fireball and blast, a ranged fast attack is nice for EM (I have dark blast but it's not that good damagewise). These facts simply cannot be disputed without ignoring logic and reason. EM isn't severely underplayed by accident. People who have invested tons of time and energy into an EM toon haven't abandoned them just for the hell of it. And even in these threads, where it seems nearly impossible to gain consensus, you get almost everyone agreeing at the very least it is underpowered.
One of the things I miss, since most of the time I was making good use of the powers (the ITF was with 52s so I was the boss killer because they tok so long to die) is TF's mag 4 stun (won't even talk about ET because well, you know). Every time I didn't stun a boss I thought 'damn my stone/elec brute can hold a boss and hurt him badly in 1.5 secs with seismic smash'.
But you're right, I could be L-Rodding and T-Striking with an ELM Stalker and I'm gonna keep playing my EM/Nin because I always liked her and all the investment (in i9 when it took us 3 months to get a toon to 50, then IOs), I wouldn't roll a new EM toon today (I also find EM's animations great, the KM ones didn't appeal to me). -
I think this combo isn't so bad. Maybe in the lower levels till SOs when you'll have to heal a lot often, but Pain's other powers are on a long timer, including World of Pain, the 'Fortitude' of the set which is PbAoE. I think it Pain had Fortitude it would be more painful (sorry for the pun), Fort was the buff that made me sometimes regret giving my mind/emp(very busy toon) a top build - the more recharge I added, the mre I felt like 'must keep Fort on moar people'.
-
Quote:If you found that not too kid friendly take a look at this scene where Pinkie Pie goes nuts because nobody showed up at her party... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHy3ZhY9VKs - her face at 00:40 kinda scared me.So, I watched those... and... Daaang, Fluttershy is one heckuva scrapper. But, MAN, that was just a teensy bit gruesome for a kids show, yeah?
I'm totally gonna make a flying yellow scrapper now. That was awesome... if not exactly kid-proof. -
I'm no min maxer but I couldn't stand PBs, I found them so weak, but I kept trying them.
After the buffs I actually like mine now. Sure to min max you'll need an expensive build and you won't farm or devastate tons of mobs like a WS, but I find the playstyle very fun - even on SOs she feels very damaging especially with the Inner Light power. It's like a blapper with shields and heals, or a scrapper with ranged attacks but no mez protection (since I don't have Light form yet). -
I don't mind redraw much, I barely notice it on my DP/Dark corr or my kat/regen scrapper. Poison annoyed because it's probably more active than any other secondary, with ST debuffs recharging in 10 secs and the tier 9 not fitting with BR's playstyle (imo, because I never had a reson to go to melee and ideally you'll want to be near melee with a tier 9 15 feet aura). But that's the only time I was annoyed by redraw on a toon, poison is way too clicky (and imo, the set is lacking compared to my old favorite rad)
It's more about what impression people have on the BR set, be it on Blsters, corrs or defs, since it hasn't been discussed much after the initial weeks.
And Jayboh, I still think Disintegrate should be a short recharge low damage spammable power. For example, Ring of Fire does more damage than Fire Blast on a fire/fire blaster, but in seven ticks, and who slots that for damage since it takes 'forever' to deliver? I haven't planned my BR/Traps build yet, but I may actually leave disint with 1 acc and 2 rech or something like that... or even 2 acc/rech ios. -
The only reason my newish Stalker is Elm/Ea is because I played Nin to death (although EA is very good, I still like Nin better)
-
Quote:Oh thanks a lot for pointing it out, I meant PvE lol (edited now). She's currently specced for PvP (i12 pvp at least, that's why I mentioned she has stealth, SS, SJ, stealth IO, etc, and now I want to see if I'm able to cap AoE def, which her current build doesn't cap either like this one I just planned). You may want to edit the OP, then, since it says this:
Since priorities shift drastically between PvE and PvP builds, I can see where things may be a bit off.
That's what I get from posting after some serious iTrial business -
I only ran them on Freedom and Virtue (Freedom for the first time because I no longer care about my old 50s there except for my Stalker I hadn't played in more than 1 year - btw Necro was it you who gave me Fortitude? I was surprised somebody remembered to buff the lolStalker! - I was the only Stalker in all the 7 trials I ran today, BAF, Lambda and Keyes).
On Virtue, the global channels (especially Virtue LFG Beta, I think that's the name) announce them all the time, but if you prefer you can just go to RWZ. On Freedom the place to be is Pocket D, the global channels I'm on there don't get much use (weird because they're the ones with most users). -
Quote:I can assure you that on the trial marathon I ran today (3 BAFs, 3 Lambdas and 1 Keyes) my EM/Nin Stalker corpse blasted much more than all the TW toons there. So far my only complaints with TW is performance on a couple of trials. On BAF, prisoners run past me before I can windup and are dead before I connect. On MoM, I have died quiet often by animation which irks me to no end.
Lambda and TPN are fun with TW. I haven't hit UG or Keyes yet with her.
