  1. I guess the problem is that you were all defense (SoA, cold, time all buff defense).

The only significant debuff you'd have is Benumb from the cold to weaken the AV's damage, Snow Storm and Hurricane wouldn't do much, Freezing Rain and Sleet would help you kill faster but only if your team is able to survive.

I went thru a similar situation on the STF where the Ice Tanker was dying repeatedly in front of buffed Recluse (we had two emps but they were pretty bad, they kept dying for standing close to Recluse I guess, I did plenty of MOs on my emp, but I was on a fire/kin at the time and couldn't hit buffed recluse for transfusion). The solution in the end... Everyone bought a ton of orange insps and kept the tanker topped at 90% resist to all, one at a time, while the rest destroyed the towers. But although the emps were lame, I suppose he had at least one Adrenalin Boost on him on top of the oranges.
  2. BR/Poison because you'll see the animation of drawing the rifle back and forth so often you'll get sick just from it.

And to make things better, there's absolutely no reason to go to melee range especially since BR's only reliable AoE is a cone, but poison's t9 is a 15 feet melee aura!

But I think I like Starflier's Energy Blast/Kin idea better.
  3. That happened to me the day I bought TW (3 days ago). Created a toon with TW, got her to 5, chose another server and... I couldn't create another TW and my 3 Beam Rifle (which I bought when it was released) toons were locked.

Just logging out, closing the game and running it again solved it for me tho.

On top of this, it also creates momentum, which makes it a very good power to keep in every rotation, even though the dmg is very low. This would free up quite a bit of slotting room you could use to add more end recovery bonuses, or possibly recharge if you arent having any end problems.
I guess you never played /EA. It has an infinite endurance tool after level 35 so you dont need to worry much about the blue bar, like /ELA.

Also it's so easy to softcap that you can skip Defensive Sweep, which is a very weak attack, when your build is done. Plus DS doesn't boost lethal def which leaves a hole in EA and other typed armors like Ice.

And if you slot Dampening Field and Tough, you get good s/l resists (32.5%) so it's worth getting Tough if you're slotting both.

I have a planned build for my scrapper, not very happy with it as it has only 62.5% global rech, but with EA you're usually at 10-20% bonus recharge, so maybe it can turn out to be good, been usng Defensive on the lower levels for now (she's like, 7) - I guess I can squeeze more recharge if I use Kinetic Combats but I hate paying so much for them:

Same deal, 3 STs, 3 PbAoEs, pretend Blinding Feint is Build Momentum because I used it as a template instead of War Mace. Vengeful Slice is Follow Through.

  6. Whichever you like best, although in two cases you mentioned (PvP and LRSF) Mind pulls ahead (perma-sleep avs, non-typed attacks for pvp).
  7. Thanks Local I already have Super Speed, I'll try practicing with Hurricane more without Hover, or else I'll ditch Snow Storm since nowadays people kill surrounding mobs, even bosses, so quickly even at SO level. I was doing good with Hurricane with Speed Boost earlier so SS might be as good or even better as Hover. I got the Hover advice in a story arc full of those awful caves, was not a problem on the TF I ran today. Getting Hover would be nice for mar rech and let me get to 32.5% def tho if I decide to ditch Snow Storm

    Ughhh tough choice
Well if you play like me you'll want hibernate lol. I'm only 30 but I eat plenty of alphas with FR+Seeds+Immob+Creepers (and later Tornado+LR), but with all the mitigation it's not enough to kill me even on 8-man teams. If it's a hard mob I just pop two purples and I'm good. The good thing about the build is that you can drop all your stuff and Hibernate without feeling useless doing it like I did when I had it on my mind/emp troller which has no pets and is very clicky (took it for theme when I was newish, hibernate on an Emp is kinda stupid).

Plus with ice armor and other stuff like Maneuvers/CJ/Hover you can get to 32.5% s/l def on SOs.

But anyway for fire maps I have a SS/Fire brute with 32% fire def (and of course 90% fire resist), I just pop a luck and I'm good, and nothing approaches the speed of a SS/Fire Brute on these maps. He's not even an expensive build but with incarnates and some weird slotting (taunt sets for fire def) he's permahasten and farms like a champ.

Besides that, /Time favors getting a bit close (its aura has 25 feet) and with BR your main AoE is a fast recharging cone.

I'm having trouble liking BR so I made 3 toons so far. BR/Poison, hated it because it's clickier than any other secondary, also the tier 9 is a 15 feet PbAoE aura and I never had reasons to get close to mobs.

BR/Traps looked like the most synergistic - charge into melee, deploy traps, go back and blast. I didn't get him so far because I'm kinda sick of traps.

My latest is a BR/Cold because I'll only have to get close to use Heat Loss, which doesn't require me to stand in melee all the time to make full use of it like Time's aura, Poison's tier 9 and Hurricane. I think Pain might be a good pairing too, the PbAoEs are in a long recharge and after the early levels you won't heal as often.
  9. I'm finding the interface a bit finnicky (like hard to select a powerset) but just messed with it for 5 minutes, looks very good tho and in the website they say they're gonna make it compatible with Mid's someday. Thanks for letting me know about the app Celestial!
  10. Well leveling her has been slow but steady (c'mon what's up with having to craft commons and uncommons and a rare you won't use to get a damn t4? Been busy Incarnating my Stalker and I hate this t4 stuff!).

And wow the combo is a monster at 30. Ok not omg damage yet, but I've been having too much fun with hurricane - and because kins are plentiful on Virtue, often I'm playing like a high-recharge non-end worries build.

But someone ingame with a lot of Storm experience advised me to go for Hover (I got CJ) because it can give you greater control for herdicaning since you have vertical mobility, I'm considering that.

Also, Snow Storm... I'm really not sold on that power, doesn't seem to help me even when I decide to eat the alpha (which I usually do even on a Blaster), unlike Darkest Night on my corr. I like slow powers like Shiver but unless you say AVs are really affected by the -rech, I don't see much use for it on a Plant/Storm build since it eats a ton of end.
  11. Ooo that's very nice insta buy and less productivity at work!

Musculature on a Brute is a baaaaad idea. Low base damage, Fury mechanics, stuff. It's good for ATs with high base damage like Stalkers, Scrappers, Blasters, Doms.
  13. I use ESET Smart Security (the 'complete' version of Nod32) and it has always worked very well for me, never causing issues with game performance. I spend about 1/3 of the time on Windows since I'm a Mac user but been using ESET since my older mac (1.66 Core Duo running winXP) and the new one running W7 64 works just as well, never noticed performance decrease even on my old computer.

At work since AVG was causing slowdows (old pc) I installed Avira Antivir, but I barely use that computer and of course not for games, I put Avira there mostly because of recommendations from people here and also, it's free.

    Em/Ice Help

Heh that's okay, it's easy to get kinda lost on Mid's when you wanna get bonuses so hard, you end up forgetting to slot your base values properly. I just saw a corruptor build that slotted his most powerful blast (Bitter Ice Blast) with a tohitdebuff set just for the bonuses, which is bad because the blast would do only the base damage.

And you may want to change that too, for example I slotted AS with a (kinda cheap) HO for acc/dam but it's not strictly necessary, AS is good with 4 kin combats plus a normal acc/dam, it's just that I hate missing with it the few times I use it in the endgame. Also in i22 we'll probably use AS more.

Also you may wat to slot Energy Absorption with a mix of endmod/def/recharge, that will depend on how much you feel you'll need the extra end when you get it - Ice Armor is a bit hard on the blue bar before EA, especially with weave running.

I also slotted hoarfrost considering the upcoming i22 changes (increase to Stalker HP cap) because in the state it is now, with three common recharges you can reach the HP cap, so before i22 you can leave hoarfrost with that.
  15. I need to get a 50 on Virtue, got one SS/Fire there but he's all t3 and I have no interest in the toon anymore (used to farm but I'm bored with that too so he stays at the market).

Since I'm tired of melee in iTrials (have been t4'ing my Stalker on Freedom, pretty good there btw - one failed MoM outta 5, one failed UG outta... one lol, but idk wth happened in the final fight, everything went like butter before, no failed Keyes), I've been leveling a DP/Dark and a Plant/Storm on V. Hope I get to 50 soon with them - I could transfer my 50 Elm/Stone Brute but OMG I'm tired of playing melee on iTrials.
  16. Yeah good luck with that, posting an end to the complaints in a thread. I agree that a lot of ATs are more useful in some trials than others (and Tankers, even with middle of the road builds, seen very valuable in all but lam/baf but those are cake nowadays).

In the end, people who wanna run the harder trials will run them and accept whoever's willing to. On Freedom there are plenty of 'lvl 50+X lf anything but BAF/Lambda'. It's actually real easy to form a Keyes or MoM over there, I did an UG tonight and it wasn't even on 'prime time'.

My only complaint about the content is all the stuff you have to do to get the t4. I'm okay with the t3 stuff, but getting t4 and having to craft all the common/uncommon/rare twice to make each t4 especially with the incoming slots and many toons to incarnate gets kinda boring, one of the reasons people run 10-minute LAM and BAFs.
  17. So I did a buncha trials on my Stalker and I spent merits on vanity stuff (auras mostly because <3 them, especially the path ones), especially since they're account-wide.

But now I'm not sure what is the best way to spend them. Any suggestions? I know they're valuable since 'OMG UG gives two' (and wow that trial is boring - did just once, went very smooth and suddenly it failed at the end because of time and I guess lack of Clarions but anyway, not something I'd like to run more than... thrice I guess, since I basically played through all of it - and I like Keyes and MoM) and all that talk, I just don't know how to make the most use of them.

    Thanks!

Yeah I know, sometimes the data link doesn't work for me - plus I hate downloading builds. Good tip on the hover thing tho, thanks

Well as the build goes, it achieves nothing special even in the attacks and the thermal part might as well not be slotted . If there's anything this build stands out is that it costs 50 billion or so.
  19. I'd go for the DoT. You won't hit the target cap unless farming (like I do with my SS/Fire with Pyronic, too lazy to change to Ion now) and the DoT actually makes a difference (not huge sure) when I hit the clustered mobs in iTrials who won't die with the normal damage - but my Vorpal toon is mostly ST so I make use all of the AoE help I can get. IIRC the def buff is 5-10 seconds?

    Which Corruptor?

Pain or Sonic because nobody plays these sets anymore

Actually you can make a pretty good Sonic/Sonic without breaking the bank since Liquefy is the only power you'd want recharge for anyway, and not worth it. And then you can use the monies for the Fire/Pain and have two good corrs.
  21. Halp? Pretty please? I think this build is quite bad :3
