Quote:There were a few posts in Technical Issues & Bugs forum that mentioned turning off Mouse Pointer Trails fixed the invisible cursor issue.Hello there
... When i do log in i'm having trouble with my cursor, there is nothing on in the background when i do so only city of heroes, my cursor keeps flashing when i move it and when i keep it stationary it just disappears.
Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated -
Just to add, you can also monitor when it fires by checking the "Healing Delivered" chat channel.

Quote:Me neither! Awesome tip, thanks. My pleasure. Also, if you are going to use more set pieces or more of the same enhancement you can middle-mouse-button click on an empty slot to 'repeat' the last enhancement or to add the next piece of the last set you used into a power. I'm not describing it well but you'll figure it out quickly. Like if you're going to 3-slot Hasten with Recharge IOs, you'd select a recharge IO for the first slot then middle-click in the other two slots to repeat the IO in those slots.

In another thread I remember a person fixed it by disabling Mouse Trails. Give that a try?

Quote:They have added the ability to click on the person's name in the chat window, and from there one of the new options in the pop up is to " Send [PersonName]'s team leader a message "... Also, when someone asks me to "Send tell to team leader," I'm not exactly sure how to go about that... I've clicked the "Chat with Team Leader" option, but I still see the same person's name when I type in the tell.
I know these are really basic questions and I'm sorry for such newbish-ness. Thanks, though! -
Note that the Hellion Fire event in Steel Canyon, and the Troll Rave in Skyway, are disabled during the Winter Event (it was mentioned that they caused conflicts with the Winter Lord spawning).

Quote:Here's the Wiki page : Entrusted with the SecretI got a little spoiled because all my toons had Ouroboros access when I came back from a five year hiatus. Now I've leveled one to 38 and I don't see how to get him there. He's done the Midnighter and been to Cimerora. What am I missing? Thanks!
The Midnighter arc which gives the badge is the second arc from Mercedes Sheldon: The Magic Man, but the Wiki page does list all the other ways to obtain the badge. -
Haven't seen any Troll Raves or Steel Canyon Fires since the Winter Event started running, so that might be the reason ( whether it's a bug or a design problem is left to the Devs I guess ).

Open the team window and "Quit Taskforce".

This was changed recently as I have the Naughty Halo on a level 29. This might have changed when they introduced the new auras, and the combat-only options, as the halos have a combat-only option now as well.

Quote:I have a question about the level shift (if there is one) given when you fill your alpha slot. When teams are looking for members to run the two new TF’s, Apex and Tin-Mage some make a big deal over the fact that you must have your alpha slot filled or the mobs in these TF’s will be +8, something about you fighting at a level 46 to their level 54. This makes no since to me, how would not filling your alpha slot drop you 4 levels?
Now I do know that once they unlock the rare and ultra-rare enhancements for your alpha slot there will be a level shift, but I’m not sure what that means exactly, will it mean you will con at a level 54 without really being a level 54?
So my question then is, as I understand it, you must have your Alpha slot unlocked to be part of a team running either Apex or Tin-Mage, but do you need to have it filled at this time? How would a +33% bonus to endurance or damage make any difference in what level the mobs are to you.
From the patch notes:
Quote:Task Forces (Incarnate-only)
We have added two Task Forces for characters who are level 50. These TF's should be tackled by characters who have slotted the Alpha slot with a power. Emperor Cole has perfected a debuff that affects characters who have no Alpha Abilities slotted. Characters without an Alpha Ability can still attempt the TF but it will be significantly more challenging.
- Apex Task Force - see Apex in the Rikti War Zone to thwart an attempted invasion from Praetoria
- Tin Mage Task Force - see Tin Mage Mark II in the Rikti War Zone to take the battle back into Praetoria
This is different than the level shift you get from the higher tier Incarnate enhancements ( which are yet to be released ). -
Quote:Zombie Man made a good guide here:Does anyone know of, or have, a link to the description of the Incarnate System? I unlocked the Alpha Slot and have 8 shards and a component I got from the ITF. I do know know what to do with any of this, and I've searched these boards for some step-by-step description and how-to manual.

You can also talk to Mender Ramiel for the in-game info.
The official site is here: http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...lpha-slot.html -
Got 2 shards during a Rikti invasion last night; the last one was obtained just as it ended so I scrolled up in the chat and it had dropped from a Headman Gunman.

Quote:You lose half of the defense bonus when revealed. Red Tomax's site will give the numbers, just use the drop down to select the Archetype and you'll see the numbers for defense ( it shows one value that can be suppressed and a second that ignores suppression. Add them together for non-suppressed value.)The description of the power is: If, however, you attack while using this power, you will be discovered and will lose your stealth and some of your defense bonus.
Just wondering can anyone tell me how much defense one actually loses from Stealth when you attack? (more importantly, how much you actually retain).

It might work similarly to the To-Hit Build Up proc slotted in Invincibility.
Rise to the Challenge increases regen rate when surrounded by foes in melee range, so try standing next to an enemy to see if the Regen Tissue kicks in then. -
Also note you don't get a graphical effect to indicate build-up from the proc. Watch for the icon, or add "Healing Delivered" channel to your chat window and it will show the build-up [and +end proc] message in that channel.

Quote:Ah yes, the WKRP classic:I'd rather see an Arachnos Fliers randomly appear in zones and start dropping turkeys on peoples heads. Then at the end of the event see Mako standing in front of Lord Recluse and apologizing.
Mako - "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

For the Thankgiving event GM, I figured The Mighty Poultra from Jimmy Neutron would work well! -
Quote:My entire family just arrived back to the game after a few years' hiatus. All 5 of us are playing and all 5 of us are having this particular issue. I have spent hours reviewing the forum boards looking for particular answers. In short, my 5 year old keeps running forward and drawing threat/aggro. We all would very much like for this to stop.
When using the mouse to run, how do you make your character stop moving forward when you release the mouse buttons? All of us continue to zoom forward after releasing the buttons.
How do you lock your powers in the power tray? I know there is a way to do this, or at least there used to be way back in '04 and '05, or I'm just old and "THINK" there was
Any and all responses will be/are appreciated.
To remove the autorun from kicking in when pressing both mouse buttons, type in:
/bind mousechord "+forward" -
Quote:I picked up CoH/V and started a character. I am totally new to MMOs. Anyway, after playing for a month or so I've found that the game tends to just sort of pop me into different cities and stuff and there isn't a lot of past info. Am I missing something? I want to start up a character and sort of play through the game linearly a bit?
Any advice?
Here's a good webpage to follow the various story arcs per level and per (origin) contact. I filtered by Hero-side story arcs but you can change the settings at the top to suit your needs:
Mission Guides: Red Tomax (Hero story arcs)
You'll find the main origin contacts will have a few storylines that continue between the level ranges, like the Vahzilok, the story behind the Skyraiders, and later on stories about the various groups and the connections / interactions between them Lost / Rikti / Freakshow / Crey / Skyraiders / Nemesis / Malta.
Circle of Thorns and Devouring Earth story lines tend to spread through most of the game.
As mentioned, added-on zones like Croatoa, Striga, The Hollows and revamped Faultline have contacts and storylines that are self contained within them.
Hope that helps! -
Quote:The most common mistake I'm seeing is trying to Trick or Treat in zones that are not the appropriate level for the character. The Halloween event is going, but for some reason when I click on doors it still says "You cannot enter" rather than tricking or treating me. It's quite simply not working. I've tried on multiple toons. None of them are working. It worked for the two other years I participated in the Halloween event. What's going on?
Pinrail
From the Wiki: Halloween Trick or Treat
Quote:Zones
Trick or Treating only works if the player was in a zone with a level appropriate for their current combat level. The following are the appropriate levels for various zones:
Heroes
01 - 11 Atlas Park
01 - 11 Galaxy City
05 - 15 Kings Row
05 - 15 The Hollows
07 - 15 Perez Park
10 - 20 Steel Canyon
10 - 20 Skyway City
10 - 20 Faultline
11 - 20 Boomtown
20 - 30 Independence Port
20 - 30 Talos Island
20 - 30 Striga Isle
20 - 30 Terra Volta
21 - 30 Dark Astoria
20 - 30 Croatoa
30 - 40 Brickstown
30 - 40 Founders' Falls
30 - 40 Crey's Folly
33 - 40 Eden
40 - 50 Peregrine Island
40 - 50 Firebase Zulu
Villains
01 - 10 Mercy Island
05 - 15 Port Oakes
10 - 20 Cap au Diable
20 - 30 Sharkhead Isle
25 - 40 Nerva Archipelago
30 - 40 St. Martial
40 - 50 Grandville
Both
Since all PvP zones automatically exemplar anyone entering to a specific level, anyone entering the zone is brought to a combat level appropriate to the zone, so all zones are appropriate for Trick or Treating for anyone of a high enough level to enter the zone.
20 - 50 Siren's Call
30 - 50 Warburg
15 - 50 Bloody Bay (Bugged. Trick or Treat range appears to be levels 10-20, but since all characters are set to level 25, they no longer meet the level requirement.)
35 - 50 Rikti War Zone
35 - 50 Cimerora -
There are issues with female heads since the last patch. The fix is on the way according to this discussion in the tech issues forum:
