  1. I'd say you got on a bad time or everybody was just in missions and such. Lots of soloing these days.

My personal opinion, on average, the servers are more populated than ever. However, I could be wrong since I don't pay attention...

  2. Oh. Umm. I need a sanity check. I guess I'm just an old man. But, it seems that my 17 y/o nephew seems to think that his Apple Ipod and Apple iPad is a PC. When I attempted to correct him
  3. Give players a choice between knock down and knock back.
  4. Teasers. It will be full of teasers that we will spend 10+ post pages picking apart and speculating on.

I so look forward to the bickering. And I mean that in a sincerely positive way.

It's simply a preferred playstyle. AOE or ST is just as much a play style as ranged vs melee. Typically, you have to lean one way or the other when you start a new build or concept.

I tend to shy away from AOE heavy stuff these days because they take to long to mature.
  6. I agree with the OP. I would like to add that I hate having to defeat mobs for xp. I have to do this for every single toon that I build. This gets really annoying and repetative. This combined with the fact that I have to log into the game before I can even defeat a mob. Of course, I have to turn on my computer before I can log into the game. The whole concept is just a big american conspiracy or something. I get so tired of having to DO something to GET something all the time.
  7. Impossible. A Gun Kata Ninja could not exist. The fabric of spacetime could not support that much awesome. Probably cause a black hole or something.

    MA/SR vs. SS/SR

This is a tough question now. I remember a while back someone "proved" a while back that tanker SS did more DPS than scrapper MA.

MA has picked up some fairly significant buffs since that time. Given that SR has alot of opportunity to build in more recharge, I think you might get more mileage out of SS as rage would be up more often. However, I have not been very close to any of these sets in years.

Like, some years ago, there were some heroes (/villains) that chose a fly power and could fly. And felt great. And those who didn't had to jumppack and wait for 6 minutes, or hold on tho their slow jetpack until it wore off.
And some chose the power to teleport to a place on the map and it was epic.
And some chose Hurdle and others chose Swift even if they both wanted Health or Stamina.
And some chose Combat Jumping and felt distinct because not everyone had a power pool choice to spend for that and not everyone had Hurdle or Super Jump.
And some very select few even chose to make a non-super hero, that was very normal in the means of travel.

So many things you chose right then made a huge difference.

Yet now, ever more changes, often labelled 'quality of life', come up that give characters something that once set the characters apart. Like,
    - Everyone can fly now. (Jump packs for unlimited sale, fly speed enhanced.)
    - Everyone can teleport now with teleport powers to anything you'd ever want to teleport to.
    - Everyone gets super fast movement and super high jumpability now with inherent Fitness pool. Even those who never wanted it.
    - Everyone gets super Regeneration and super Endurance now, there's not even an option any more to take something else instead.
    - Everyone that took the Fitness pool before now can choose one of the power pools and three of the few powers he had to opt out of before, meaning everyone is closer to being able to take every power they find interesting.

But when everybody can do and have everything, wont the game be super dull and boring?

(And when everybody has hundreds of powers from this and that and innate and accolades and temps and dayjob temps and event temps and superdupersystem temps wont they become meaningless because you cant remember them all anyway?)

Will there still be a distinct feel to each character and will there be room for an exciting game experience?
Actually, I think there are some good points here. The barrel of monkeys is already out of course--so thers no turning back now, but the recent changes amount to a "Global Buff'. Everyone will be able to get moar powers. However, I think that the net result will be MORE customability rather than less customability.

I suspect the devs have weighed on this for a while and have most likely made a good decision in this case.
  10. I did not read every response here. But from my experience, clatrops will cause scatter. Most of the time, scatter is evil. It's actually better to throw it at the feet (or in front) of the squishys on the team.

I haven't played my AR/Traps corruptor in a while, but I eventually spec'd out of caltrops. Again, useful for keeping melee opponents away, but as it stands, not the best to throw down under a tank.
  11. Ice a good set. But I think the appearance of ice armor turns people off. Stone gets a pass from the appearance penalty by some folks since it is considered the "strongest" resistance set.

Just an impression I've picked up over the months/years.
  12. Go here. It will be alot easier to read and digest rather than a bunch of random postings.

    gamepad play

I'd like to see it. I'm not a programmer, but your logic seems sound. Not sure why the gamepad has never made a solid transition to PCs. Must have someeting to do with profits/numbers.
  14. All of you are WRONG about parry. If parry was the problem then ToF in the DM set would have never made it.
  15. I remember someone calculated this out to 40ish years at one time. I don't recall any details. I'm sure their calculation scenario allowed "leveling" to obtain the contacts though as their focus was on leveling using the skip mission function.
  16. Yes. The damage boost is significant running solo. Also helps on endurance. Right before they launched it, it was taking 4 attacks to defect an even level minion. Now it only takes three attacks. Thats been a huge boost to soloing.
  17. "In an effort to put a greater focus on the City of Heroes franchise, Paragon Studios is shifting resources within the studio. In order to optimize the refocus, there has been a reduction in force that has impacted a small amount of people. Paragon Studios is an integral part of the NCsoft West family and will continue to prosper, delivering the world’s most popular superpowered hero MMO game, City of Heroes, to fans around the world."

So. Um. I just want to make sure I understand...
    Reducing workforce = Increasing focus?

Wow. My MBA school got it all wrong.
  18. My only concern is still being able to fit my numinas and mircle specials into health. Has anyone heard a confirmation on this?
  19. I liked comics as a kid and stuff. So the superhero stuff was sort of embedded in me at a young age. Thats pretty much it. It was my first MMO. Tried others along side COX but nothing else held my interst.
  20. I'd like to make a regen toon, but I hear all this stuff about regen needing alot of clicks to work and such. Resutling in low DPS. Is this really the case? Will the DPS of a regen be measureably less than other secondaries?

Odd. Everytime I face a GM, it face-plants me almost instantly.

Grammar Defense will outperform Grammer Resistance if it's been softcapped.
