I haven't tried other interface besides Reactive but I am pretty sure they all work? Do they all have the burning graphics? Maybe the other 3 don't have any graphics at all?
-
I kinda like it. Another side of the coin is why should the end-game content favor any damage-type?
-
Quote:I agree Ice Control has powers that contradict themselves (knock down + immb or damage aoe sleep).See, this is probably my biggest problem with the set. Ice slick is a really cool power and easy to get perma. Great damage mitigation, but the immobs make it useless and I can't even put a damage proc in it. So, I don't get to see all those pretty "Domination" ticks above their heads.
Actually, Ice Control has a few really cool powers, they just don't seem to have good synergy. Flash Freeze and Glacier...also pretty useless with ice slick.
I've been playing this toon in a team with my hubby's Demon MM and a friend's Electric Brute and I just feel useless. Maybe I'll switch to one of my many other experiments sitting in their late teens and early 20s and come back to this later to see if I feel different before I delete.
However, Ice Slick is an excellent battle opener. I just drop it out of sight and let Brute/MMs go in.
Do you think you have more problem with Ice Control or Ice Melee? I've heard more complaints on Icy Assault. I don't mind Icy Assault. I just think Fiery Assault has too much damage. lol I enjoy the ice swords. They look pretty. :P -
My one and only perma dom is Gravity/Fiery. She is barely perma. I need to really watch out the button at least for two times and then it stacks nicely.
I am all Hovering in air for more protection and I go for more +defense. I really like the defense bonus because in situations where controls don't work or don't work fast enough, I can withstand quite a bit of beating with my ice shield, tough/weave, and set bonuses.
If you feel you need more defense, then yeah, 145% recharge sounds a bit too much. -
Quote:Super quick spot impression:
I did a quick demon/sonic test the other night (couple RWZ rikti missions), bumped to 50. T1 Cardiac alpha, +5% def +10% res ios, rest basic SOs.
It was no stronger than nin/time and, indeed, felt weaker at least vs. rikti.
There are a couple factors at play here, and my non-optimal build was definitely one of them. Lack of healing compared to time was also pretty noticable - even with really solid resists (I want to say pets were at 81% or so S/L, rest less).
I'll try and put some more time in tonight and shift the build around a bit.
It was definitely more "fun" for me than anything /ff, and I think it will be a really solid team contributor (I *love* sonic in teams), but I'm not expecting this to be the new bots/traps or bot/dark or anything. If I had the time I'd go through the patron arc so I could get Scorpion Shield and see how close I could get to S/L/E softcap with IOs, maybe try messing with aid self + taunt/tankermind build, etc.
I don't think I'll be running it as a "main" mm, but I'll definitely be doing some kind of /son in a new 2 or 3-box mm team.
Pretty much what I expected. If you can't clearly see the benefit of Demon/Sonic (which is an obvious good combo for sonic), then /sonic will be even worse on other primaries like Ninja/Necro.
Oh, I haven't tried Time. Time is good with Ninja? -
Quote:Well, at lvl 50, I think Genin will grow to have about 7% innate defense, which isn't awesome at all. lol It's actually very pathetic considering they have no defense debuff resistance.@Jibikao - whoa, innate defenses?!?! That's awesome!
I'm showing 6+% on my Genin and 12+% on the jounin for my 17 ninja/traps.
That. IS. AWESOME!
I think I'm finally convinced to try a ninja/ff
What's awesome is you can stack all the defense together. :P
You want Genins to survive because I've done a test before on Freakshow boss. As a tier, 3 Genins, 2 Jounins and 1 Oni, the 3 Genins take down the boss the fastest! I know it's shocking but there are some annoying factors that reduce two Jounin's damage potential, like when the boss runs.Your black ninja will chase, and stop or choose low damage poison dart. And the boss will run because of caltrops.
-
Quote:That's not true. From my experience of lvl 50 Merc/Poison, 50 Merc/Storm and 50 Ninja/FF, I can tell you Ninja has more aoe damage. than Merc.Ninja's do more ST damage, Mercs have more AOE and are ranged.
Ninja, surprisingly, has good aoe damage. Oni has Rain of Fire to start the fight (he has Breath of Fire but it's too inconsistent), both Jounins have caltrops and Genins have Exploding Star.
Majority of Merc's aoe damage comes from Commando and only one is a target aoe knockback in M3 Grenade. The rest are all cones. Trying to line up your pets to get the most of cone damage is tough. In the end, I am pretty sure Ninja does more consistent aoe damage than Merc.
Oh, and also Ninja controls better than Merc. Oni has 8s recharge Hold, 4s immb and two Jounins have knock downs, knock ups and one very narrow confuse cone, and Genins have one annoying strong knockback in Crane kick.
The only thing Merc has is range. That's it. Everything else is inferior. -
Quote:I am very happy with my Incarnate Ninja/FF. Your goal is to add as much defense to them as possible using Power Boost. Power Boost makes a world of difference on Genins since they are lower level and they have less innate defense than Jounins.I got a toon that's a ninja/forcefield MM. Ok its a fun toon to RP with, but at level 37, I'm not seeing any pyoff with this toon . Its great to ff teammates and use dispersion bubble, but other than that the ninjas seemquite useless. They go down fast and don't seem to do a lot of damage..The forcefield doesn't even seem to protect them much either. Is there any hope for my toon, or should I bet happy to attain my first lev 50 rp only toon?
Do ninjas get any better even with all the power-ups later on or did I just waste time making one ?
When you have Power Boost, Dispersion, two shield bubbles, Maneuver and two Pet unique (one of them is +resistance and it's good to have), your Jounins will have over 60% defense and Genins are over 50%.
There was a long thread about Ninja/ff a while back when I did the math but my point is, if you like Ninja, then Ninja/FF is a great combo. Problems with Ninja is they die very fast and /FF should reduce that problem a lot. If /FF can't reduce that problem, then there's probably no secondary that can help paper ninjas.
You find Ninja's damage too low when they are not dying? Can I ask what kind of damage you are used to seeing? Blaster type? Thug MM? I have many lvl 50 Stalkers and I know my Ninja/FF has higher damage than Stalker if none of the pet dies.
Ninja with Musculature tier 4 and Reactive are doing pretty good damage. Don't forget to give Jounins Negative Damage Proc and -resistance proc. Use other pet sets to get a good mix of Damage/Acc/End. -
Quote:One minor note, different "ranks" of pets have different proc damage. MM's minions are -2 level so their proc damage are lower than yours. The boss pet is considered +1 level to you, so their proc damage is actually higher. I did a test a long time ago and I think the proc damage difference is like 7-9?Sort of. The damage actually scales with level. It is a fixed amount at that level regardless of power or AT.
Here's the link to the table of Proc damage by level.
I believe this could be the case for Patron Pets as they are "yellow" color (not white color), although I've never grown enough interest in patron pets to find out. -
Quote:I have a 50 Necro/Pain that uses Oppressive Gloom. It is a thing of beauty when I run it with my friend's Necro/Pain. Both of us can stun most things but we have to stand in the middle for it. /Pain has enough self healing to reduce the damage-self portion. It's true that /Pain isn't that solo friendly but you can count on Dark's controls to make it easier (I also play a Sonic/Sonic defender and a Radiation/Thermal corr': even if Sonic/ almost doesn't help me at all when soloing, Siren's Song is all I need; with my corr, I heavily use the snipe and the stun in Cosmic Burst to handle the most dangerous foes).
With Dark/ TT is great to keep foes at bay while debuffing their tohit. Soothing aura helps me to heal the wounds I could get without having to stop attacking to use Nullify Pain (and looks pretty). Dark Pit has such a terrible base accuracy you need to heavily slot it to make it useful, but I like to have it.
Dark's main drawback is that it seems to take a little eternity to defeat a single foe, but if you take Dark Mastery, Soul drain will boost - at last! - your damage (not to mention Oppressive gloom which will nicely stack with Dark Pit). And I my build I know I would have to choose either Life Drain or Soothing aura :/
I'm not sure if it's the best combo for your concept, but soloing such a character isn't the nightmare it seems to be. By the way I like the idea of a Dark/Mental blasterTwo cones, immobs that can stack, foes weakened by both the leeches of Life Drain and Drain Psyche as if somebody sucked their blood...
Speaking of my Sonic/Sonic defender, I tried to fit the Sandman's Chance to heal self proc in Siren's Song and... seriously, 10% chance to heal yourself by 5% is quite worthless. By the way Psychic Mastery's Mass Hypnosis recharges in 90 seconds whereas the Mind Control's version takes only 45 seconds to recharge (20 seconds for Siren's Song). Such a tiny heal for such a long recharge isn't worth the proc imo.
So Sandman proc isn't that good eh? I guess Entropic is even worse then.10% for 5% heal. I might as well get a full set of Thunder Strike for more defense. Bummer. I wanted to try out by putting at least two Entropic procs.
Yeah right now, I am leaning towards more Blaster than Corruptor and I have a hard time deciding between Dark/Mental or Dark/Energy. Dark/Mental seems to be more Vampire-like. I am a huge fan of True Blood and I am inspired by the Vampire charming skills. They can control your mind (mental abilities?). I guess Dark/Mental is the best theme for now?
If there is a corner, I can aoe push them to the wall and then hit Drained Psyche. I have tried several /Psionic dominator before. -
Mmmmm,
You know what, I've never tried high level /Kin. Dark/Kin may be good. I heard that /Kin is a very busy set?
I haven't read much about /Time, but I also heard that /Time is a busy set?
I recently found out that Corruptor's Stun Modifier is extremely low (hence the reason why the -Special debuff in Weaken is even lower than Mastermind's version because -special debuff uses Stun modifier). This is one reason why Corr's Dark Pit doesn't seem to last as long? I've taken it before but I dropped eventually. I don't mind taking it again with set bonuses though.
What's the synergies between Dark Blast and Time? -
-
Quote:Oh...I am confused by the terms again. Are we talking about the regular attacks from Power Pools like Jab, Air Superiority?According to City of Data, Scrappers crit from the APPs but not the PPPs.
Or are we talking about Patron and Epic sets? Somebody told me Scrapper can critical with Patron attacks? -
Mmmm, maybe Vampire is the wrong choice of word.
If you were to maximize Dark Blast and Life Drain, which secondary would you choose? -
I hope it's not too late to change your mind. Ninja/Pain doesn't work that well. You will need to heal A LOT and constantly.
If you want a good Ninja experience, I would suggest Ninja/FF.
In a race to 32, I would say Ninja wins. Merc, while having the advantage at long range (some pets still run in), their damage output is a lot lower than Ninjas. -
Hey guys!
I plan to make my first build that is dedicated to Vampire theme (more about leech health). The new improvement on Life Drain in Dark Blast really makes it possible but I can't decide what builds I want to go for. I'll throw out some ideas I have gathered and let me know if you've tried or if you have an even better one.
Restrictions: It will be only Blaster or Corruptor. I will not make a Defender because I don't want to wait until 35 for Life Drain. Second, I will not make a Dark/Dark Corr. It is too common. :P I've had Dark/Dark before and I want something a bit different.
Blaster
1. Dark/Energy: This is probably the highest candidate for me. Power Boost can increase Life Drain healing to about 300ish and Boost Range can increase TT's cone. I am not too thrilled about increasing the AoE Knockback size as the knock back in that power is very strong. I didn't know Blaster's Power Boost only recharges in 60s and not 120s like others!
2. Dark/Mental: This is actually my first idea because I don't like AoE knock back but I also want one more aoe attack. /Mental has Scream and Drained Psyche can offer more +regeneration/end to compliment my life leeching. Down side is it has more pbaoe.
3. Dark/Ice: This is probably unlikely but /Ice has a quick hold which stacks with Dark Blast's hold. And /Ice is pretty good at keeping foes away with Ice Patch and Shiver? I don't plan on blapping much.
(I don't like Dark/Dark M Blaster. I would have chosen that if /Dark M has Siphon Life. I'll have double health leeching powers!)
Corruptor
1. Dark/Storm: Dark is all about cones and /Storm is the best at keeping foes away from you. I see the synergies in two stun powers (dark pit and thunder clap) and Hurrican pushing foes that I haven't immbed. What do you think? Down side is tornado and thunder storm may scatter the mobs too much since TT doesn't have -kb.
2. Dark/Pain: If the theme is get Health Leeching and healing, I figure it may be fun to have Life Drain and Soothing Aura (healing once 4s) and one more aoe heal if I need it. The problem is /Pain isn't as solo friendly as /Storm and I've tried /Pain too many times.
3. Dark/Trap: I consider /Trap only because I enjoy having solid mez protection in FFG but it kind of counters Dark Blast's cone because I may need to jump in to set traps (which takes time away from me leeching health!).
----------------------------
Some pointers. Do you find Entropic useful? The numbers don't look too good. Only 10% chance for 5% health? I need to sacrifice one slot for the proc. I could have put chance for negative or full set of Thunder Strike for range defense. What's your thoughts on this? Has anyone tried Entropic proc in all 3 range attacks? Good? Bad?
There is a thread about the Sleep proc for healing. Corruptor does have access to Mass Hypnosis which may make the build interesting?
So far, I am leaning towards Blaster only because Dark Blast is new and I plan to use mostly dark blast powers. -
Offensively, I would say Kinetic with the right use of FS is a bit more potent.
However, /Cold brings almost everything but healing. With ice shields on, your team can safely blast without worrying about taking too much damage.
I also think Kinetic works better with more melee on the team than more squishies because a lot of squishy don't like to get that close and they may not benefit the full potential from FS. -
Quote:So the AoE sleep power has a chance to proc the healing to the caster with every target it affects right? Oh...interesting!
Multiple Targets
Any proc that is placed in a power that affects multiple targets has a chance to fire for every target hit by the power. This includes all procs, though the following are particularly noteworthy:
* Call of the Sandman: Chance for +HP. Contrary to urban legend, this has a chance to heal more than once per activation.
* Chance for +Endurance procs, which can be handy in powers like Dark Regeneration or Ball Lightning.
* The global Healing procs will fire multiple times, but their effects don't stack.
Now, the +endurance proc, I thought it "gives" endurance to the affected? Dark Regeneration goes back to you so you get good +end but Ball of Lightning gives endurance to the affected ones right?
How many global Healing procs are there besides Panacea? Panacea works like Entropic proc? -
Quote:Just curious, do Scrappers get critical from ancillary pools? I know Controller does 'cause I just took Jab..Are ancillary pools still not critting from Hide? I know some here reported that a while back and if they aren't then this seems like the time to report it (again).

I made a Rad/Device too on the weekend. I haven't played a Blaster for about 2 years now.
Man, Radiation is so much better on Blaster. It is such a total upgrade from Corr's version. I hate Corr's Radiation.
I picked /device because I've never really tried it and I intend to be mostly range toon. Yes, I know melee attacks do more damage but I am willingly to stay on back to take less risks. I also find Taser pretty good at stunning. It's fast and I should be able to stack stuns with Cosmic on a boss.
I was really looking at /device for the first time after the Defiance change. It seems like Trip Mine and Time Bomb give a lot of Defiance bonus. I won't play my Blaster like a trapper but I certainly will use those two powers to fuel my Defiance before the fights. So with the loss of Build Up, I at least get a pretty good Defiance boost before the fight.
One thing I've noticed is that endurance cost is pretty heavy I run both Cloaking and Targetting Drone. Cloaking's defense seems very very very low. Endurance cost should be less? -
It only seems to happen when I typed out a long reply... T_T

Quote:This is very good to know. I know all of my characters use Reactive because the fire dot is just too good to pass on. I've wondered about other Interface like Diamagnetic. I just don't have the patience to get both. lol
Just for giggles I ran an experiment the other night: I went to RWZ and ran four rounds of Borea missions - two with Diamagnetic Total Core and two with Reactive Total Core (i.e. the comparable t3s). I used a middling farm setting of +1x8. My current build has 15% ranged and melee defense. The result with Diamagnetic was a very noticeable difference in toughness. A debuff of foe -5% tohit does NOT translate to -5% incoming damage. It's more - much more, on the order of 20%. And unlike defense, tohit debuff won't be immediately negated by unresistable foe def debuffs. An interesting experiment would be to reproduce the same four runs on Cim maps and see what difference the Interface variations make with def-debuffing mobs.
So you can really tell the debuff from Diamagnetic eh? Interesting... -
I've decided to go for more +recharge.
Thanks for all the feedback.
I like WS but I don't like it THAT MUCH. I see the potential with Eclipse but WS still has pretty big holes when I don't have dead bodies at my disposal.
I don't plan to make two builds and test which ones I like better (more +defense or more +recharge) and I also don't have that much interest in buying lots of LotG for the build.
Having higher recharge is easier to manage with cheaper sets and Spiritual. I guess I just need to carry lots of BFs because I really hate getting mezzed.
I wanted more +defense originally because in situations where I have no bodies to use, I need to survive better on my own. I know it sounds funny but Human WS reminds me of the old "Dominator" when Domination was a "must-have". Dominator had that highs/lows gameplay and I see that in WS Human a lot. When there are a lot of mobs and dead bodies, I am a happy alien but when I get mezzed or not enough dead bodies, I feel s@#$.
In fact, I would even recommend Dominator fans trying WS out because WS has a lot of controls too. -
Dark Manipulation has the potential to let Blasters do a lot of damage. The risk is to go melee and use pbaoe.
I think it's good that they made DM different than other secondaries.
I just don't think Dark/Dark fits well. Dark Blast not only has two cones but one of them is a serious aoe knock back. -
I hate shifting delays that I don't want Dwarf form. lol
Oh, Eclipse is not auto-hit... I see.
I did plan on using Spiritual alpha but looks like Clarion is more useful to me because my biggest downfall is mez. If I don't get mezzed, I can withstand a lot of situations.
Not sure if I am going to be that dedicated to WS so maybe no Luck of Gambler. hehe
