Heck, at least you've been able to dream about it... I can't get into playing other toons because I consistently check if Test is up and I only wanna play with TW :P I think I'm falling in love with a set I have never even tried xP
-
It's all a question of getting addicted to getting hurt ;D Seriously though, you kinda underestimate Regen it seems. Sure, we don't have resistance (much, you can get 15 % res to all with resilience) and we don't have an ability to evade enemy hits, but really, had Regen got those things, I'd say it could be some of the strongest kind of armor in the whole game!
It's all a question about making sure not to get too much damage, or to make sure that you are able to regenerate whatever damage gets to you, which often isn't that difficult.
That said, I haven't tried using Regen against very big mobs (x5+) solo, so YMMV. -

At least unless the in game data are bugged, AFAIK Empty Clips is the strongest of it and Bullet Rain, at least damagewise.
Also, regarding the last comment from Kadra, I think you mean empty clips or pistols, as you can't skip both Pistols and Dual Wield. -
I'd vote for DP/poison, have one myself in the 20's, only. IMO, the debuffs work very well with the DP powers, and, while probably not as powerful as /traps, it's debuffs definently are strong and synergize quite well with DP.

Lulz, nice reply
Still not sensing resentment though :P
(Btw, this is NOT a troll of the thread, just me trying to spread some luvin' between the two fellas) -
Quote:Damn, that's an awesome costume! :OI'm more concerned about what kind of sword I'll give to Stardiver, to be honest. I'll want something tech-looking, ideally something glowing like the Tech Sword or Vanguard Broadsword. I hope and pray something like that will exist.
Also, Samuel and G, I bet the two of you are the best of friends outside of the forums, your discussions with one another, while definently being serious, seem to be on a friendly, joking basis :P -
Quote:Yeah, I think it'll help me alot with this feedback, thanksYes, you will need some defense, as Fiery Aura offers absolutely none. However, you need to focus on either S/L/E/N or Melee/Ranged/AoE. In this current build, for example, you have sets like Kinetic Combat (S/L def) and sets like Multi-Strike (AoE/Melee def). Pick one or the other, not both.
Yeah, I thought about rerolling mine as a Brute so I could actually hold aggro, but Scrappers > Brutes anyday.
From what I understand, Weapons Mastery isn't all that great. I've never tried it, myself. I would suggest Pyre Mastery for more damage (plus it works well with Fiery Embrace) or Body Mastery for Physical Perfection. If you're worried about losing the targeting drone, grab Tactics or Focused Accuracy.
Yeah, basically. It can't hold aggro to save its life, but the damage output is pretty good, IMO. Blazing Aura + Spin = awesome.
Your main issue in this build, as stated, is that your defense bonuses are all over the place. Focus on one type first, then go for HP/rech/regen/etc. as you've already started.
Hope this helps!
I wholeheartedly agree that Blazing Aura+Spin is brutal! It's been a good while since I last had a toon with a damage aura, so I'd totally forgotten how strong it is :3 And that said, then the toon overall feels like a true machine of destruction thanks to his high damage
When picking Epic power pools, at least in this case I'm not so focused on getting more damage, which might have been an explanation to why I chose the Weapons Pool. That said, I don't really remember why I chose that pool in the build... probably themewise. Thing is though, often times, I don't feel that my toons can use epic pools that much, because many of them seem somewhat redundant on the character IMO.
But yeah, all in all thanks for the heads upit's nice to see that I'm not THAT far off ;P

No one got any tips or ideas here? I'd pretty much imagine it is much like a claws/fire brute, just without the taunt and with lower fire res, but since I haven't got experience with this, could someone please help?
-
Hi!
In honor of DXP, I decided a few weeks back that I'd make a claws/fire scrapper. What is needed to focus on through the slotting of one of suchs? I remember having read that in order to stay alive longer, def is needed, hence why I have slotted for that in the coming build. I am just unsure as of whether this is the road to go or not.
When I talked with friends regarding this, many recommended that I'd roll a claws/fire brute for the taunt in BA's synergy with burn. In the meantime, this is a thematic character, and as such, he HAS to be a scrapper, so don't bother giving me feedback there please ^^
Last note: I took the weapons mastery epic for the toon, but I am not sure whether this HAS to be there, so I can be convinced to switching the epic out.

Indeed, Dull Pain won't help a stalker as much as a Scrapper, but really, DM/Regen is quite an efficient combo IMO. My main is a DM/Regen Stalker that I feel is very strong, and the to-hit debuff from DM works very well with the AS to-hit debuff to help the toon feel quite survivable, everything considered.
While I haven't played a /nin to lvl 50, I can't second Kioshi's observations, but really, if you don't mind playing the game with a lower difficulty (I usually play at +2/x2 on my DM/Regen, before and after my level-shift) with quite a strong ST chain, I would recommend you try it out
I have yet to try using Shadow Maul in the build, so I can't give you any comments on that in the combo, but I believe it can help the difficulty to x3 or perhaps x4. -
Thank you for your help Infini, it will most likely do me good
A couple questions though: Firstly, WILL I altogether be able to play at x8 when having unlocked perma-dom? I see you have a mind dom yourself, can it solo at higher difficulties? And how much will the AoE potential of the secondary be needed in order to more properly deal with higher difficulties?
Regarding MC, with perma-dom, will it be a stronger tool than MH/terrify, and what with TD? As it is, I am expecting a lot from MC and TD, but is that me being wrong about something?
Ultimately, regarding Thorny Assault as a set, should I ultimately consider Ripper an AoE or ST attack? -
Hi guys,
Having recently made a mind/thorn dom and have gotten him to lvl 33, I can't help but feeling squishy when playing with him. Whenever people mention Mind doms, many people think of beasts with the power to break down hard targets as well as being able to surmount hordes of enemies (at least me regarding the second feat). As it is, though, I have a couple of issues regarding Mind doms that I would like expert advice with.
(WARNING: Somewhat large amount of text incoming)
First-off, soloing. As it is, I can JUST manage soloing x2 without the biggest beat-ups. When fighting mobs, I usually start with Mass Hypno to lock down the enemies, then work my way through the minions with my ST chain (which for thorn is, at least in my opinion, quite strong). Typically I can beat 2 minions before the rest of the mob wakes up. Here I use Terrify to lock them down again, then defeat 1 minion and then confuse the last minion to help me beat up the lieutenant, which I lock down with dominate. When Domination activates, I usually use Mass Confusion on the biggest mob I can find, or a Boss mob, and then AoE on them while enjoying their carnage. If not, then I use Total Domination to lock the whole mob down and then use AoE on them and ST on Lieutenants. I also use Thorntrops in these situations.
As it is, I have quite grim envisions about attempting to defeat x8 mobs, heck, even x5 in itself, without slaying my inspiration bar. Furthermore, when I have talked with people about this toon and my big expectations regarding Mass Confusion, some have argued that it is not the most important part of Mind Control's survivability/mitigation. Can someone please confirm or deny this?
Regarding teamplay, what would be the optimal way for a mind dom to contribute to the team? When I play on teams, I usually work like a weak blaster in that I first throw out my mitigation, Terrify, and then start AoE-ing stuff with Fling Thorns and Thorn Burst. I use Terrify to at least attempt to make the mobs do less damage to my teammates. I use my ST attacks against lieutenants and Bosses. When domination activates, I use same tactic as in soloing with domination.
Now, the reason I write this, as I said, is because I think there's something I'm doing wrong when playing my dom. I have listed my playstyle with the toon, and now I'd like some advice as to why I might be doing something wrong when playing. -
Quote:If I understand the initial Powerset Proliferation article correctly, wasn't Venomous Gas going to be a toggle, as in always on unless you run out of end? This is true. I haven't played my 50 Merc/Poison in years. I can't remember what the duration is. Mids doesn't show duration but the recharge is 300s. I think the duration is only 45s? If that's the case, then you can't really perma Venom Gas.
We don't know if it's going to be the exact same debuff except you cast it on yourself. If the duration is longer or recharge is shorter on Corr/Troller and the Gas can be made perma or almost perma, then /Poison can be a VERY deadly set. -
-
Oh, I follow
Just misunderstood the written definition I guess :P
-
First up, thanks for summarizing these Von, you really deserve the credit that Zwillinger gives you
*reading through summary*
Oh!?
Lemme see if I get this right: If I will be inside a subscription period when i21/CoHF goes live, I will automatically be made a Tier 9, regardless of how many veteran rewards I've got?? Is that what this means???? -
First up, thanks for the transcription work Von Krieger
Overall I like the changes a lot! This seems to make it easier for me to get the rewards
One question though, and my apologies have it been asked before.
The article describing the Paragon Rewards details mentions that the tier 9 VIP rewards will "refresh" every 3rd/4th month, thus either utterly removing or only temporarily making the former rewards in the tier locked. Now, my favorite shiny in the slide show of course was the Celestial armor. The abovementioned taken into consideration, will this mean that if I don't get to unlock the tier 9 in the first 3 or 4 months, I will have to wait a certain amount of time to be able to re-unlock the armor? Or will it (doubtfully) mean that if I don't reach tier 9 the first 3/4 months, I will never get a chance to get the Celestial Armor?? -
Think you're right. Though, I do hope they get to choose sides as well as anyone else, although I can see why lorewise it would not be very fitting. Thanks for your answer though
-
I don't remember the answer to this question and have been looking around in different threads to try and find the answer, but have failed :/
The new tutorial coming with Freedom and i21, will EAT's be included there? I mainly think about whether the HEAT's do or not, considering they usually can start out in the current tutorial, and that VEAT's get the tutorial in Mercy. -
Quote:I like your positive way of thinking, kind sirYou know, I disagree with this. If the devs' goal in depreciating shards was to make people unable to get the new slots very quickly then they utterly screwed up by not implementing timers on the new rewards. Now I assume that the devs are not idiots, if they had really wanted to force a certain time limit on getting the new stuff then they would have done so in an overt way (one component per trial per day for example). Given that my opinion is that they depreciated shards not to provide a time gate to getting the new stuff but to provide a content gate. The inability to use shards for post-Alpha advancement means that post-Alpha advancement has to be accomplished through Incarnate content rather than simply rerunning the old level 50 content.
What that in mind I think the answer to your question is yes, the later slots will almost certainly provide a new set of Incarnate components. Not because the devs hate players or want to prevent people getting the new slots on day 1 but because they will want to depreciate the current set of incarnate trials as a means of incarnate advancement and introduce new, more difficult, trials in their place.
In fact, I also see your point about the lore-wise explanation about the shard/thread stuff and the "level" of Incarnation. I have to concur with your assumption about new "currency" for the next slots, especially because I hope (and expect) that the future slots, in their own way, are stronger than the current slots, while definately being more Incarnaty.
About the stockpiling part, why not call it grinding? That sounds more fitting, as, IMO, the people loading up on threads/shards for the future Incarnate slots are the real grinders. I personally don't see a problem with having to get new tools to make the new powers. After all, I am willing to play my way from lvl 1-50 without PL'ing, so I don't really see a problem with the Incarnate system's unlocking process. -
Quote:Interesting thought there! I never thought of using the Paragon Points system as a portal to altered animations...Mind you, after I21 hits, I could see new animations being made available for Paragon Points.
But about the actual question, thank you for the reply ^^ As I was trying to emphasize, I can hold my breath about new power animationsI don't think they're nearly as important as some of the other changes that are coming
