While badge hunting over the weekend I discovered I needed one more flashback mission to get the next Ouroboros Badge. Looked through my list of missions not done and found "Bad People, Good Intentions". What a great mission! Rescuing people from a fire, excellent. That made me feel like a proper super hero. The rest of the mission was good as well, but its nice to see some new game mechanics once in a while.
More of those please Devs! -

Quote:Gah! I'd forgotten about them. Yeah, I find getting the golds particularly hard. Thought I still had decent reflexes *sulks*1) The badges achieved for soaring across those bloody slopes in the Christmas event at Pocket D... I must just have incredibly slow reflexes! As soon as winter comes I start dreading the thought of putting myself through doing them haha. It's only a silly little thing but I find it really challenging to get those badges.

You know that two I've been on, the team leader had to remind people to click the button to enter the mission! Which kind of worries you for later. Obviously one of those individuals must have picked up an acid temp because one portal remained open throughout the final Marauder fight *sigh*

Quote:You know the more you argue that it means nothing the less I believe you. The top SG on Freedom last night are obviously a bunch of marketeers who are converting their ebil gains into prestige just to be at the top. Their SG message sounds like they are having fun and are anything but elitist. I'm sad you want to remove this game mechanic from them, but glad it won't happen.Wrong. That list means absolutely nothing, and should be removed from the game as Memphis Bill already suggested. All it does is foster elitist snobbery and stupid arguments about how unfair it is that some SG's can get to the top of the list by converting inf to prestige.
-
Quote:Wrong. So there is no ingame mechanic that requires that knowledge.
This game has such a thing as the Top 100 Super Groups and its done based upon Prestige totals. Those SGs are quite proud of their listing and they do it for fun.
I am sorry you don't like that. I don't like the Auction House but I realise some people enjoy that kind of thing. You need to realise that there are some people that enjoy competing based upon SG Prestige and this game provides and promotes the mechanisms for doing so. No doubt within those "Top" SGs the person who has generated the most, is also proud of the fact. You should read the SG descriptions, the one currently at the top on Freedom talks about it all being a bit of fun. So much for elitist snobbery!
I get that you don't like things that seem elitist but prestige isn't that. And you don't want people to be able to see other peoples badges? 0.0 You really want to stamp on other peoples fun! In CoX badge hunting is a game in and of itself. -
Quote:I wish they let "Assemble Team" work on NPCs too. Or at least the ones that aren't hostages. Although if you were on a team and someone defeated the kidnappers and someone else teleported them to the door that's not an exploit just sensible use of powersGive us a /stuck power to use on NPC followers
I'd love to have everyone get a "perma-temp" power called [Snap Out Of It] or [Come With Me If You Want To Live] that when used on an NPC follower (hostage/pet/etc) within maybe 20 feet would act like Recall Ally, allowing us to fix those situations where the prisoner we're leading out has gotten himself stuck on a pipe or is unable to figure out stairs. I also believe it would be cool if the new "tutorial experience" specifically incorporated a situation where it was necessary to use this (maybe you find a stuck hostage in a mission, but before you can get them to follow you, you have to go find and click a glowie that gives you this power, which after using on them will have them follow you out.) -
I'd love to be able to log into the Market through a browser. If I could do that I might even be persuaded to play the Market! No thanks to iOS though
Make it a browser, with lots of flash!

If your suggestion was enacted and prestige totals were removed those players would still be idiots and would still find a reason why they thought you weren't leet enough for their super group BUT everyone else that behaves normally would have lost a sensible piece of information.

I find all loot-purchasing a bit 4th Wall Breaking and wish they had made the Auction house feel more like I was using my "influence" to get what I want and less like I was using money. So I can get behind any suggestion that presents more in-game justification of game mechanics.
;thumbsup -
Quote:Then your problem is with Prestige and not with this suggestion, so its unfair to rail against a request for a more accurate number when you don't want a number at all. That's our point. The problem is that there are a number of players that are of the mind that prestige has an importance that it doesn't have, and it's not isolated to a few players. We simply think it's more beneficial to get rid of the listings than keep them.
-
Quote:But I still put it to you that that is down to the idiots involved and is not a problem of prestige. For most SGs it works just fine.Quite the contrary Jagged. These were not limited to an individual player being an idiot. Over the years I and many others have encountered numerous SG's that were dedicated prestige farms which fostered elitism and snobbery over the amount of prestige an individual earned. Quite often those SG's had high turnover rates as new members quit in disgust or were booted because they didn't earn the amount of prestige the SG demanded, In some SG's I actually saw weekly quotas required.
The comments before the <bleep> The idea is nether useless, nor was the request to keep track of every SG total, only the last. -
Quote:Again, that you have had an unhappy experience does not prove that the problem was anything to do with the listing of prestige and not (as is far more likely) down to a particular individual being an idiot.Apparently you don't know what facts are. A fact is knowledge or information based on real occurrences. So yes if a person experiences elitism and snobbery based on the amount of prestige they have or haven't earned it is indeed a fact.
When someone makes an exaggerated statement and ends it with an expression they can't type I think I am justified in declaring that statement to be a Rant. -
Quote:Refute what exactly? Your statement that it promotes elitism and snobbery? That doesn't need refuting because it is just your personal experience and far from fact.1. That's already been answered above. You can ignore it all you like but that just shows you can't refute it.
Just because it makes you rant doesn't make it unreasonable either. -

Quote:Then why do you object to the system keeping track of how much a character has generated? You seem to object to people using it as a rating of effort people have put into a SG, which has absolutely nothing to do with this very sensible suggestion.Pointing out the simple fact that prestige has no meaning other than how much income a base has to spend on does not remotely equate to hate.
If I left and rejoined a SG for whatever reasons, it would be nice if it remembered the total prestige I had generated. -
All very good information, which needs to go in the info section of those rewards.

Quote:Indeed, its tougher to "current" Paragon city but easier than when you couldn't avoid Perez Park missions. It reminds me of the difficulty CoH's early game used to have, way back before various changes were made to make the ride that bit easier and smoother (e.g. it used to be suicide to let a Lost Swordsman or Rector/Eremite get into melee range with you, and potential team wipe scenario if you let a CoT boss level mage self destruct). Not a *huge* difference, just enough that weaker teams struggled and soloing could go downhill fast.

Thanks for the confirmation. I only wondered because I do get Shards when Exemplar'd, so I thought it might be based on con. Cheers again!
-
Quote:Cheers, thats exactly what I was wondering. In particular I was thinking about Shards. They drop at any level as long as the mob is cons even or above. So I was wondering if the fact that 50s now con blue would mean they no longer drop Shards? If you were wondering whether it would affect the frequency of drops, the answer is no there as well. The only affect you would see there is you might get drops slightly faster, but that's more of a case of you being able to defeat things faster than it is anything the level shift is doing directly.
-
Joking aside: This should be looked at because it gives griefers a away of sabotaging a trial. There are all sorts of legitimate reasons why a team might drop below the minimum, but they should still be allowed to continue.

Simple question: Do Incarnate level shifts effect drops?
cheers -
Quote:Actually I think that given Incarnate slots are the one type of slot you can "Hot-Swap" the smart choice is that it depends upon what you are doing.Sadly, the truth that most people try to avoid is that the smart choice for Alpha depends a lot on your build.. I've always been of the "if you run out of end you need better slotting" school of thought, so to me Cardiac is pretty worthless.. If you build with different priorities, your incarnate needs/wants will be completely different.
When I started this thread I thought there might be one Alpha that's best for specific Amours, but now I tend to run Cardiac when solo or on small teams and Nerve for trials and task forces. -
Quote:Unfortunately my Boss won't give me the time off work and the family won't give me the time off Life, so how about we settle on just the 1st tierGood luck building all your Alphas, Jagged! We'll be expecting a post next week when you get the 4th tier on that fourth alpha, ok?
