oi. 13 consecutive posts. I wonder if that's a record. I'm sure the sheer amount of text is a record.

Quote:It does. Otherwise, we would feature you in this thread as a traitor to CoH.So I took an unplanned hiatus from the game for a couple months, around the time I16 hit open beta. Between a new job, friends, school and general life, and other video games, (no other MMOs though, not that it makes a difference.)

Well, for double XP weekend, adjust my numbers to 1400-1600.

It may sometimes take even longer but, once I knew it had serious lag, I never really watched it too closely. -
The AE building issue is random. It doesn't always send you to the same location. I did it 3 days ago and had no problems of that sort. We did have the level 40 Protectors.
-
Quote:That's a preconception of the character. Not everyone builds their stalkers that way. I've seen stalkers built to go toe-to-toe with the enemy in straight-up fights. Yeah, people will say they should be playing a brute, but they didn't want to.Okay then, sir.
You explain to me why Repulse makes any sense on a toon who is all stealth
It's like building a tank as a 'scranker', defender as an 'offender', etc. Plenty of people create builds that are completely at odds with the 'official' intent of the archetype. -

It is. Known issue. I don't imagine it will take too long to fix it. Well, too much longer....
-
Huge lag on it. You can easily earn 700-800 prestige before the SG listing updates.

Cootie Cat is out of town for the weekend.

Quote:Not true at all. There are numerous missions where some special benefit (badge progress, a temp power) is conveyed only to the player who clicks the glowie. Courtesy dictates that the mission owner should always have first shot at those glowies.Completing the mission is the expected behavior of this game. This isn't a matter of ettiquette. 99.999999999% of the time you will complete the mission. It is only that one farming mission that you wouldn't click the glowies.
And if someone isn't knowledgeable about these circumstances, then don't touch! -
Quote:Well, right off, this entire exercise is fanciful and unrealistic. I don't mean the initial part about getting just what the other person needs - we can allow that for the purpose of an example. The interaction with the market is absurd. You just toss out some made-up numbers and assume the sales take place. In the real market, if the items were actually worth something then other people would be out there buying them. If you list at 1, it would be instantly sold to someone - maybe your pal, maybe not. Definitely not if your pal is putting up ridiculously low bids. Even for the purpose of an example, you can't just assume there are only two people using the market. We've got two people, call them SnowGlobe and Fulmens, who each need ten items for their build. We do one mission and, through an amazing coincidence, we each get ten items and 1,000,050 influence. Through a MORE amazing coincidence, we each have the items that the other one needs. We spend 50 influence listing all ten of our items at 1 inf each.
First, we each buy the nicest thing for 1,000,000 inf. Wents takes 100K, we collect our money, we each have 900,000 inf left.
Then we buy the next-nicest thing for all the money we have left. Wents takes 10%, we have 810K left. -
Quote:The first veteran respec is at 9 months, then every 12 months after that. There are 4 "types" of respecs available.
1) The free respecs (or freespecs)
2) The various veteran reward respecs. You earn a claimable respec every so often (I think it's 1 per 12 months, but I don't pay that much attention so I'm not 100% on that).
3) "Earned" respecs.
4) There are "respec receipes" that can be bought at the Auction House/Black Market.
You left out buying a respec with real money. -
Quote:Heck no. Firstly, your 'solution' would be terribly unbalancing for the game.TRAVEL POWER (THE MISSING LINK)
Okay not as simple, maybe but it hit me recently (*cough* *CO* *cough*) that there is a huge cross section of hero types that dont have a thematic travel power, or are taking a travel power that is off theme. This is excruciating given the breadth of CoH in other areas. Ninjas, "Punishing" Soldier Types, Beasts, Captain America Types, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, are all left in the dust. They arent as fast as the Flash, they cant fly or teleport, and they cant jump like the Hulk, and being forced into taking any of these over-powered over the top solutions for a seriously gritty and brooding Dark Knight type is just plain corny. It ain't right. Let the gods be gods... but some of us need to be mortal men (albeit on performance enhancing drugs). There needs to be an additional Travel power and being one for suggesting simple solutions that already exist in the game just make it Fitness. One travel power that instantly grants all the individual powers of the current power pool of the same name. Perhaps tweak them up a bit and throw in a couple other little perks, but you get the idea. If I think of my alts alone this travel power would be selected for almost every other toon I make. I cant imagine anyone who is playing CoH, from a non-grind and non-PL perspective, who wouldnt jump all over this as an option for so many concepts and ideas. Really bad and massive void here guys if you consider some of the most currently popular heroes don't have flight, super speed, super jump or tele. Can I get a "heck yes" !!!!
Second, if you can't imagine people not jumping all over this, then your imagination needs more exercise. The answer to your problem is already in the game - skip all the 'travel' powers. Use Sprint, Swift, Hurdle, Combat Jumping in whatever combination suits you. -

Okay, dredged up the shot and put it on PhotoBucket. You can see that everyone, including the tank, has the visual effects for Group Fly.
-
LOL! In a related story, they got a Granite to jump with a bunch of kins also. They had 12 kins with Inertial Reduction and by Speed Boosting each other, they were able to double-stack it on the tank and he could get Superjump heights. I wasn't there for that since I didn't have anyone with IR.

Quote:oooo, so close! You got it backwards. The correct answer is to kick the tanker and have him immediately invited to another team of Group Flyers. That can be accomplished in maybe a second. The effect lingers for what, under 10 seconds? I really don't see it as practical to drop and invite 3 additional people in that amount of time, and then the Tanker have more than a moment to get off the ground.
I have a screenshot, but someone said they were capturing the video and would get it up on YouTube. -
There's a lot of DO's with names like Helm, Vambrace, etc.
-
What's really shocking; so are Essence of the Earth - some of the time. I've seen all five recent prices at 500,000. The next day, there was a 1,000 bid and the other four were between 100 and 150.
(No, I'm not speculating on EoE. I was lowballing them to stockpile some for raiding.) -
Quote:Question: I remember back in the day, 2004-2005'ish there used to be the giant monster (squid with tentacles) and you had to knock out each tentacle.Quote:Lusca is the giant squid monster that spawns in Independance Port,Everyone seems a little confused. It sure looks like the OP was confusing it with Lusca, due to calling it a squid. So the first two quotes are bit confused because it's not a squid. It's an OCTOPUS!Quote:No confusion whatsoever on the OP's part. Read the details of the strategy for the trial. Your job is to clear the tentacles, then attack the head. The only one confusing it with Lusca is you.

Squids have 10 tentacles; Lusca has 8. Also the head would be shaped differently. -
Quote:2GB on XP is plenty. I have 2GB and I often run two instances of CoH (thought not while accessing the market and it zones like a sloth with two instances).I was definitely thinking about more RAM. How much more should I have?
Also, the only reason I don't have SP3 is that when it originally downloaded, it caused my system to continuously loop at startup.... and I had to revert back before I installed it. After which, I turned off the Auto-Update feature for Windows.
As for the SP3 issue, well, that's not good. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with your CoH issue, but there are so many security issues constantly being discovered that Windows needs to be kept updated. -
Surely the Apocalypse is upon us. I have seen a stone tank running Granite fly through the air. Who would have thought you could find enough people with Group Fly.

Quote:....getting bent out of shape because you're not happy with the RANDOM drops you're getting. In all that time, like I've earlier stated, I have gotten one purple drop. Which was fairly recent, a little less than a month ago I think.
So...
Since my experience is different from yours, and my opinion different from yours, I MUST be lying.
Yeah.... no....
And since I actually play instead of farm, the fault must lie with me, not with the design...
Yeah... no...
Since I've actually only ever received one purple drop, I must be killing the mobs wrong... No wait, I must be playing the game wrong... No wait... I must be...
(shrug) You've gotten one in several months. I saw a post where someone said they had gotten 8 or 10 in the past month. It happens.
