Quote:I would contend that the purpose of the game, at any point in character development, is to have FUN. Certainly, for some people that means advancement of some sort. On the other hand, let's not forget what the first two letters of 'RPG' stand for.The thing is, everyone talks about the "end game", but what do you want from an end game? What is the purpose? In an RPG, the purpose of any gameplay is supposedly to grow stronger.

Personally, regarding 'end game content', I *MIGHT* be interested with exactly *ONE* character. I have one character with a ton of badges, all arc clues, dozens and dozens of temp powers. For my other characters, I simply don't bother. Once a toon hits 50, they probably get played about 1/10th as much as before and I start a new one. -

Quote:Ah-hah! It's an RP group and they are RP'ing dissent in the ranks!Second of all, I can't help but observe that this method of recruiting, getting into surreal arguments and threatening people, is certainly a bold new strategy in getting people to join your super group. I'll be very interested in seeing how it works out.

Quote:I call BS (and delicious irony). My point is, that your original post was just more of the "There's no problem, you just suck, shut up" mentality. People say that the naming system causes problems, and others say "No, you're just a bad name/character creator, see how good I am at it?" No problem or disagreement has ever been solved by one party denying that the problem exists, and then insulting the other one.
A method that allows two people to have the same name would solve this problem, and only hurt the people who're being needlessly selfish, and it would only hurt them in that they would'nt be able to infringe on others people's freedoms.
Sorry, but *TONS* of people think that two people having the same name IS A PROBLEM. How convenient for you to simply hand-wave it away and deny it's an issue except for those who are "needlessly selfish". Oh wait, besides denying the problem exists, you're insulting people, too. Double irony! -
Oh, run around and look for it? I don't know the coordinates and forget which side of the city it's on. It's JUST outside the wall - maybe 20, 25 feet from it. The pool isn't really big enough to swim in. It's just big enough to notice that you can submerge rather than swim at the surface. Some of the maps in Cimerora (which is co-op) also have it.

I have a level 50 ice/SS tank. Ice is a pretty decent set 'out of the box' - you've got a +HP power, +END power, slowing taunt aura and damaging taunt aura.
Mine is built for damage output. You've got a lot of click powers (including Rage) that are important. The bonuses I went after are +recharge, +damage and some extra defense.
Off the top of my head.... I think I had Red Fortune, Kinetic Combat and Crushing Impact sets. I don't use Mids and I can't log in to the game to check.
Your real ugly damage will come from Rage + Foot Stomp + Icicles + Ice Storm (or whatever the AoE in Arctic Mastery is named). -
Quote:How important is the concept to you? I would say that hardly anyone takes EM because of the performance of the set.So, I decided to modify the concept a bit and roll with Energy Melee.
Having said that, I have a lvl 50 inv/EM and if I had the ability to respec his secondary, I would not.
If you plan to solo a lot, it's not a good choice. Of course, neither is ice melee at low level and I soloed that through Flashbacks to unlock Karsis and Hess. -

Don't. Many people only play on one server.
Dual boxing does make a server transfer safer. It lets you have both the sending and receiving characters logged in simultaneously so you can WATCH the market continuously - there is no 'blind spot' while you switch toons. -
Quote:Given that:It was stated that, there were concerns that long-time, high-level players would use their accumulated influence to build huge PvP bases and thus dominate the PvP base-fighting sphere. Please note this discussion occurred before the market existed in any form at all.
Given that PvP bases have been taken off the table for the forseeable future, I wish we could get this conversion rate reviewed/lowered.
1) Base costs were made DRAMATICALLY cheaper across the board...
2) The market is a SOURCE of influence for many people...
3) I converted ONE BILLION influence to prestige because I had nothing better to do with it...
I honestly don't expect the exchange rate to be changed. Yes, it's an appalling rip-off, but I think we're stuck with it.

Quote:Can you cite a source for that? I've been following all the GR information and have not seen anything to that effect. While the devs have basically ruled out a level cap increase, more enhancement slots and more powers, they have indicated Going Rogue will include a form of post 50 advancement and that the endgame content would be harder then current content, requiring the use of said advancement. So while I trust the Devs to get it right, it my be to early to rule out the OP's concerns.

Quote:Well, we knew almost nothing about their world before. Anyway, didn't we find them? And then start nosing around? Sounds like we're the invading bad guys.Just so I can wrap my head around GR, at first the Praotians were once the evil goatee universe (STO Mirror Mirror) only to be some how retconned to a more Justice Lords( Justice League TV show), why the change?
Say WHAT??? Morality non-existent in his mind.... wait, maybe I'm misinterpreting the sentence. Do you mean that Rorschach saw a lack of morals AROUND him? If so, I agree. If you saying he had no concept of morality, I'd say you're dreaming.Quote:Before the background I thought the jerk wanted to somehow grab for power in a world that had no real leadership or order to him, and morality was almost nonexistent in his mind ( like Rorschach),
Because a lot of people flat-out don't like playing bad guys. If they were clearly bad guys, there would be less interest from the playerbase.Quote:Why do we need another hero we need to relate to on some level? Whats wrong with just having an universe that is just evil or Age of Apocalypse verse? -

Quote:They currently have the script to purge names on toons below level 6 on accounts that have been inactive 90+ days. Since trial accounts can go up to level 14, I think they should change the script to characters under level 15. The 'inactive 90 days' part sounds reasonable. If NcSoft/Paragon Studios are expecting an influx of NEW players when Going Rogue goes live they should consider addressing the naming issue.
Oh, by the way, what "naming issue" are you talking about?

Quote:War Witch! While there may be software/game issues with having someone be both a contact and a trainer, there are TWO of her! One could be a TF contact and the other a trainer. What some of the other have mentioned in true no signature hero in game is both a contact and a trainer so they'd be replacing BAB in Galaxy to give him a TF.. I like seeing BAB in Galaxy so let's find someone else. No idea who since it seems like every signature hero either trains or is a contact now as it is.. may need to create a contact for this.....

He's done this in a few threads. I must say, though, a dedicated tin-foil-hat-wearer can be quite entertaining.

Someone would have to buy your item then 'paint the tape', i.e. put in 5 more transactions that look right. One additional security step would be to open the 'more info' window and make note of the date/time of your last transaction and then check that after you log to the other character.

I'm in for team one.
Since my controller only hit 42 today, I doubt he'll be ready for this so I'll probably bring Ironblade. -
Quote:Well, yes, I just don't like it, but I do have reasons. Mainly, it just doesn't seem heroic to me to have 2 or 5 or 20 heroes with the same name. It seems SILLY. And some might say, "But they chose to use that name." But did they all choose to use a name used by many others? Did they know? And shouldn't being first count for something?Actually, we *DO* realize the implications and results of non-unique names.
And we STILL think the idea sucks like a tornado.
Then there's the 'unique identifier' issue. Sure, there are 'workarounds' but it seems to me that whenever something is described as a 'workaround', it's a clumsy compromise rather than a clean and effective solution.
Also, I'm accustomed to it being the way it currently is. I'm not inherently averse to change, but (as I've noted) I think this would be a BAD change.
It's an idiomatic expression. Really, they do both depending on your position.Quote:Tornadoes don't suck! they blow! did I just miss the joke?
