  1. villain: how about a Self Aware Arachnobot. That or a mu would be cool.

hero: Legacy Chain might be interesting. So would a rogue Rikti.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Firstly, you're either grossly exaggerating or doing something wrong. I have characters WITH NO TRAVEL POWER who still aren't the last to get to the mission most of the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

this would be because you're beating the people who are flying.

Anyways, flight increases in speed as you level. OP, are you sure the toon you have flight on is 50?

Did you just say our server was gay?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I said no such thing, nor did I say anything that looked to me remotely like it implied such a thing.

But I need a new subtle insult to toss around, mind if I ask what exactly I said that made you think that so that I can use it more often?
  4. I play on Liberty. Thew lowest post count on the forums led me to think it was the lowest population. While I was wrong, I do find that it isn't crowded the way Freedom is. I have some toons on Champion also, but in my experience, the groups on Liberty (both blue and red) seem to mesh well together, and seem to be plentiful.
  5. If you are going solo, bots/forcefields MM is the way to steamroll the highest difficulty missions.

Still slower than a team, and boring. Fastest 50 solo though, I've been told

No news. Next new sets are likely to be Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Demon Summoning? Interesting...I was hoping for Carnies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah. clown summoning FTW. Personally though, I was looking for Rats.
  7. How about plant melee for stalkers? call it stalks. heh, you could be a stalk stalker. oh wait, thats not proliferation...

MA for brutes of course would be great.

the tanker's ice sets for brutes, and the brutes electric sets for tankers would be nice. So would spines for brutes.

One more... this might be controvercial, but I would totally take Dual Blades for a Mastermind secondary. No, really.
  8. Yep, I'm having some trouble deciding what my next toon should be. Going to be a secondary main, and I'm toying with all ideas.

I'll start by saying that I love melee. The chaos that comes from jumping into a spawn is just awesome. Therefore, I would prefer to roll a scrapper, tanker, brute, or stalker.

I'm looking for something that teams pretty well, and has a damage type that isn't resisted too much. I would prefer it not be an end hog, but i can work with it if I have to.

My experience so far is mostly with smashing and lethal damage, and thats what I want to move away from now. I have a DB/WP scrapper who, while awesome, doesn't put out the large numbers in damage that I would like to see. i'm also not so happy with the need to hit with every attack to make the combos work. I also have a Stone/Shield brute that is on a regular team. While the damage so far is fantastic, the ST attacks make keeping aggro a bit of a rough game, so building fury is rough most of the time. On top of that, I find that (this is pre 20) stone melee seems to just chew up endurance.

So there you have it. I'm up for nearly any powerset, though since I have a WP, I'd like to try something else.

    to summarize:
looking for less resisted power type
    looking to team well
    looking for high damage
    and if (AT = brute) {
    looking for sustainable fury
    }

    what would you recommend?

(also, I am patiently waiting for dual pistol melee. It's going to happen at the same time as fishing rod melee, and poison-defense)
  9. while I admit that it would be cool to use emotes with the shield active, I imagine this is working properly. I too would like a 'weapons and shields are always on' option on some of my toons though

    How about Kinetics/Sword Scrapper??

    [/ QUOTE ]

are you kidding me? Waiting for the Katana/Kin Mastermind.
  11. go with Super Strength. Jab+brawl can work fine as it's own combo, and a tanker or a brute will get enough health to keep them alive, especially with a regular resistance in the secondary. Shield's first power is probably good for this.

    u no wat?

yes. lots of people are tired of it, but the people who talk like that are also probably people who would not see your message here.

I often turn the broadcast channel off, so I don't usually see that stuff anymore.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Each pet should also have Gang War.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I am totally going to make a video where it is like that. I just need to head to a busy server and get 15 people to use gang-war in one place, and record it. I wonder if it would be possible with enough thugs MMs to rival a zombie invasion in numbers.
  14. This was an old vehicle suggestion of mine from a while ago:
    [ QUOTE ]

    1) headlights: summon vehicle to this location. it does not move, but it's headlights are on. this causes you to be able to see invisible enemies within a huge cone in front of it. Furthermore, you and your team get a small +ToHit if the enemy is within this cone. The car can be attacked, and enemies within the cone are (very) slightly taunted to the attack the car.

    2) brake-fail: Your vehicle comes zooming across the screen, running over the targeted enemy with a screech. Damage is moderate, knockback is significant. has a looong recharge time. still useable indoors or wherever you are.

    3) Vehicle travel: Your vehicle appears, you get in, your team can choose to get in also. you travel at very high speeds, and have a jump/boost about the height of a regular CJ+Hurdle jump, but your speed when you jump slows tremendously (ie, you have it, but don't want to use it too much). can only range attack from the vehicle, and all damage taken while inside is applied to all people inside the vehicle.

    4) insurance increase: You summon your vehicle, and set the self-destruct mechanism. it takes 10 seconds to arm, and the explosion is devastating. can only be used once every 24 hours, but doesn't actually make the car unusable for the other powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is how it should be done. humorously, and in a way that, once I got to know the game better, I realized would be unplayable. Yes, I still think it would be cool to hit Lord Recluse with a car.

Also, to everyone in here but OP, don't hate the newcomer who forgot to search. my first post ever was almost about how lame the costume creator was because there was no 'back detail' button, and a rant about how could a game about superheroes not have capes/wings. We all have to start new at some point, and a friendly community is what keeps people coming back, and actually reading the forums.
  15. Necro/thermal would be fun, but really, I'm waiting to make a Bots/Kin.

Or a thugs/thugs. Double gang war would be total overkill. Would also settle for a couple of control sets. Necro would go fine with Earth Control.

Also, waiting patiently for new MM set that has mini-MMs as pets. Killing by proxy of your pet's pet (and the tier 3 could have a pet-summoning pet of its own), sounds confusing, and like a chaotic mess. Just what I want to annoy teammates with.

(FYI, the above post was a joke.)

    Stun Meister

Energy Melee is always good. has a mag 4 stun, and the regular hits have a chance to stun too. Actually, that may be disorient. I'm not sure the difference at the moment.

    What is ED?

    [ QUOTE ]
Not even remotely. A lot did hate it, many more are indifferent, and a good number actually are in favor of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Generally (though not always), the people who dislike a change in an MMO are people who got used to it the old way. As new people come along and don't have the chance to experience the old way, the overall feeling usually moves towards the new setup. Ask some people with less than 6 months vet how they feel about PVP to get an idea. If they've tried it, they may just surprise you and say they liked it.
  18. My Energy/Energy stalker is kinda fun, but still at a low level.

Earth/Ice for a dom might be fun too. If you want something a bit different than you are used to, try a */storm corruptor. Early game is interesting, largely dependent on your primary, but there are some nice late game powers in storm, and I just kinda like the way it looks as well as how it plays.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

-"Invite me to ur group!" No. No manners, no team invite. Try "Hey, do you guys have space for a 37 <AT>?" Why yes, yes we do!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to get tells from people wanting me to leave my mission to join theirs. This always boggles me, since I am clearly 'On (a) Mission Map' and not looking for a team.

My favorite one was the guy who politely (and with proper spelling), asked me to leave the team I was on to join his, because they needed a healer badly to finish their AV.
  20. I disagree. The origins are different enough as it is. Your changes have one good side to them: no effect on gameplay.

Of course, inhibiting the customization or the gameplay would probably be bad. the idea above: [ QUOTE ]
If you pushed for origin-*inspired* pieces of costumes, customizations, etc...

[/ QUOTE ] has it right, I think. A few new pieces (there are supposed to be new pieces in I15), being selectable based on origin might be nice, but I wouldn't take it further than that.
  21. If you just got him (level 28), go ahead and play up to 32. even if it is a struggle. Equipping the thugs will improve their damage output and give the enforcers another buff. That should help.
  22. I guess I need to play this game a lot more. I thought from the title that you wanted to know something about how Dancing could help your defense, and got excited that we might have a new Scrapper secondary.

Anyways, I just wanted to post that, I have no real useful information on shields. Also, thank you Besserwisser, I'll be remembering those numbers as I level up my shield brute.

    Pet Control

Lets see what I can say to help here. This is in no particular order.

Pets' attacks have recharge times, and keeping them from using some attacks, or even just having them use them less often will hurt their DPS, as there will be times they are not attacking. A fix to this would be to get them to use ranged attacks in melee range.

You can set the attack bind to remain Defensive, just right click the attack button on your power bar (I assume you're still using the default attack, defensive, and passive buttons here), and click edit. Change the word 'aggressive' the 'defensive' and then they will attack the one target, then return to you when it is dead.

I agree with wanting to set a preference to stay together, or stay in melee, or something. Ranged attacks work fine in melee range, and as a /pain MM, having them all within the AOE heal ranges would be nice, and would keep them alive longer than having them stay back, and get shot.

I also agree with trying to get the medic to focus on healing. have had other merc Masterminds mention that too.

Anyways, welcome to the world of Master Minding. Your post sounds very demanding, but to be honest, that is the sign of a good Mastermind, you want/like to be the boss.
  24. I can agree, but other than the first detective/broker, I don't see the need. Once you have a travel power of any sort, it really is trivial to go to the other one, and if i recall, they have different contacts they can give, which means your game can be different the second time through.
