Because, I have serious ideas and thoughts about mmos. If this is just a thread to be a thread then I won't put my thoughts into words. If it is a discussion meant to provoke thoughts and ideas about a server ruleset for what could be then yes I'll contribute my thoughts.

Its uncanny how you guys came up with the same thoughts as I was writing a new bio. This is what I have thus far:

This is Smogshade a Mutant, Dark/Dark Defender.

Current Idea for Bio: His mutation allows for the manipulation of impurities and pollutants in the air around him to convert them into his dark powers.

I am having a hard time coming up for filler for the story. Most of the time I don't have a problem but I'm just not coming up with anything for this one.

Any ideas or thoughts for background in this context please post. I'd love to hear them.

In some cases yes. However, I have witnessed how people talk to other people on these forums. I have seen how they will talk down to people and come off seeming like they think they are better than the person they are replying to.

Whether this is with motive I don't know. I've seen it, I don't like it and therefore the people who act this way I've just decided to quit responding to once its evident that is how they act.

So I re-worded and simplified my first email :"Rent not due. SG registrar will not accept payment." and they escalated the ticket. It took about 3 days for that one to be fixed.

I sometimes wonder what is the point of the in-game auto generated petition system.

Last night I sent in a petition for harrassment. All the info was pre generated, character info, server, zone, time... I spelled out the additional information about who and what. The reply came back, we don't have enough information please provide the following.... all that info was auto generated that they asked for. It even shows that information on the left of the ticket in the support section.

i was toying with this a bit last night, and it doesn't always work. There were several times the costume change fired but not the emote for transform. Of course this wasn't using the $$cce, I was using standard emotes $$em none$$em powerup$$cc 1

On my MM, when theres too much aggro from all directions in those situations and i can't hold aggro with Provoke, I throw up force bubble and mow the mobs down one at a time.

you already started the /bind, to append a second command you need $$

so instead of /send i believe it should be $$send

Explain to me then how my statement, "The game included a mechanism that allowed people to cheat, so rather than play it the way it was intended, and maybe enjoy it, you got rid of it," is incorrectly citing your position.

I have never played Neverwinter Nights, so I don't know if they removed all developer generated content and you were FORCED to make your own content to play the game, and further you were forced to cheat when making your own game content. If that's the case then, yes, I misunderstood your position. However, if you gave up on the game because it allowed cheating, but didn't require it, and it was possible to play the game without cheating, then I think my statement was on the money.

If you didn't like the game, regardless of the ability for players to generate their own content, then that's one thing, but you seemed to indicate that the ability to cheat is why you gave up on the game.

I guess you'd never play a pen-and-paper game like Dungeons and Dragons either since it allows players to create their own adventures, huh? The best-selling RPG of all time and likely the reason games like WoW, EQ and even CoX exist in the first place, but it is fatally flawed because it allows players to create their own content.

Thanks, InfamousNrez. You'll probably get your share of dismissive replies because there seem to be a fair number of forumites here that don't like to admit that WoW might actually be fun to play, but as CoH is the only MMO I play I appreciate hearing what people like about the WoW endgame model.

I played WoW for 4 years, Everquest for 3 before that. Its only fun on the surface, once you realize you can't get any further without doing raids/pvp its pretty pointless to continue playing. Warhammer Online adopted an even more rigorous pvp philosophy. You can't get any of the high end sets through anything other than pvp. These games all have a set path to glory and anyone who doesn't wish to follow that path is just doomed.

I really hope that COH doesn't adopt this content philosophy.

There were 2 choices for packs when i created my account and i chose magic. I bought the Arch ED. of the game, could that have something to do with it? Yes you should. If you used the game code and no booster pack was automatically included in the activation, and no secondary code was added to your account for activation then it is an issue that someone should address.

You can get money from playing the market... which requires money and/or drops.
You can get money from selling drops... which requires defeating enemies.
You can get money from defeating enemies... which requires playing.

Simply put: playing more gets you more money to spend. Hardcore players who're online hours a day will end up with better stuff than casual players who are online hours a month.

Technically, if you are on hours a month, you have to be on hours a day since months are made of days. Unless of course you only play minutes a day that don't add to hours in that span, but over the course of a month they add up to hours.

You need to verify in your ncsoft account status that it is indeed active then. You may have to apply the code manually, or it may be listed under codes that haven't been used yet.

Verify in your account status that the Magic Booster Pack is active on your account.

The costume items will be as follows:

With the magic booster you also get the Costume Change emotes. Verify any of those costume items at a tailor and see if your CCE emotes work.

If your account shows the booster as active and If they aren't in the game then contact support.

I didn't take offense, I just wanted to make sure that at least one person is known to still be legit who started after the AE farm bonanza hit.

I think I'm the only person that is opposed to the AE system in this game. Anytime a game introduces player content there is cheating and ways to get around the gameplay. I've been guilty of it in other games.

I remember in Neverwinter Nights: I created a dungeon with a dragon in it. I took off the dragons armor and made him paralyzed so he couldn't attack. I would take my toons in and just kill him repeatedly. In about 30 mins I could have a max lvl char because as long as you didn't train up you continued receiving the required experience to level of a level one across 20 levels.

I quickly sold the game and never looked back. Player content has its rewards but more often than not, it is just a conduit for exploitation of game mechanics which has proven to be the case in ae.

I was iterating how easy it is to manipulate content when user creation is allowed, and seeing what was possible got rid of the game for allowing such mechanisms because it was nothing I was interested in at that point. I then compared it to AE as an example of why user created content shoudn't be allowed in games.

Reading Comp 101 is in order.
