New Hero Bio Backstory Suggestions...

This is Smogshade a Mutant, Dark/Dark Defender.

Current Idea for Bio: His mutation allows for the manipulation of impurities and pollutants in the air around him to convert them into his dark powers.

I am having a hard time coming up for filler for the story. Most of the time I don't have a problem but I'm just not coming up with anything for this one.

Any ideas or thoughts for background in this context please post. I'd love to hear them.

I like seeing alternative explanations for powers. I have a villain who has dark powers, but since she's plant-based they're explained as clouds of spores.

You could explain his mutation as being magnetic, but the field he generates is such that it only affects microscopic particles in the air (pollution and impurities). Or his latent mutant genes might have been triggered when he fell into a factory smokestack while working.

I'm envisioning something like a Crey mistake or a DE plot. Maybe Crey dumped their latest industrial pollutant into a sludge pool that was accidentally contaminated with nanites. His mutation allows him psychic control of Crey's nanites and they grab the pollutants and send it wherever he wants. Or he can control the DE virus (or fungus or whatever it is) and do the same.

Its uncanny how you guys came up with the same thoughts as I was writing a new bio. This is what I have thus far:

Aw, I got here too late. My first thought was that he was an ecologist, so when his mutant powers manifested, he decided to clean up the air and the criminal element at the same time.

You can still make the suggestion NT. Its not like it can't be edited. That was just what I came up with at the same time that I was asking for suggestions. I'm always open to ideas for my toons.

Same here. Now only if I wasnt called out for Dark Melee being RPed as Reality Shredding.

That said...to the OP, you have the idea of how his powers work for starters, by filler, do you mean something like...

Uncle Died. You could of prevented, not you use your mutant powers as a hero instead of as a celebrity type deal?

Or in how the powers actually work?
