Congrats to Post on the new 50 and to everyone else on the group who made levels (yes, plural) tonight.
Was a hell of a run. We started out +2x8 and then, after we insta-melted Trapdoor, we cranked it to +4x8 for the Honoree mission.
Still waiting to see when it gets tough... We just burned right through the mission and never missed a beat.
Co congrats to Kaylee as the newest Incarnate as well!
If pictures are worth a thousand words, this one is the thousand or so that'd sum up how tonight went.

Everywhere in Paragon City, the Rogue Islands, and all points in between, parallel and outside, heroes and villains (as well as vigilantes, rogues, loyalists and resistance) stopped in the process of beating the living snot out of each other to turn their heads and go "What the hell was THAT?"
As always, an absolute party with you guys. -

Well, I'm done with Anniversary events if this kind of thing is any indicator.
When powers with a 1 second activation time and a 4 second recharge take 3-5 seconds to activate and 20-30 to recharge, it goes from being "annoying" to being "not fun in any sense of the word" and not worth the time.
If the game client can't be streamlined for this sort of thing any better there's no reason to have the events in the future. -
Quote:Don't ever try to tell me what to do or say. Especially on an Internet bulletin board. My quote was fine the first time, because that is what I meant. Don't ever re-quote me and change it by saying "you're fixing it."
And good work on responding to the point of the post.
That there's no way to guarantee that F2P'ers will actually spend money on anything. Or more specifically, on anything BUT "essentials". -
And this right here would be insanely problematic with the current state of NCSoft's "you may purchase a single thing at a time" storefront.

Quote:Say, that's pretty good! That would explain the discrepancy he gave in his age in that first ep and what with the Doctor talking about how the gangers pretty much are real people, it's not like he could just zap his back into unprogrammed flesh without a serious twinge. Still, note that the old Canton seemed to toss that idea out after the Doctor was killed and I've heard Moffat stated categorically that "yes, that was really the Doctor who died" in the first ep.
On the other hand, Moffat may just be toying with us and this ganger-Doctor may die at the end of the second half of the story.
Dang it, I hate getting caught up in fan speculation like this, but it's really hard not to at this point.
Just keep reading your avatar Clave. Summed up nicely. -
Quote:Then they'd more likely be players who play for free and only make a couple purchases for "essentials" and that's it. They'd be a one-time cash infusion of a couple bucks.I have at least two friends who don't play CoH because they can't fit the $15 into their monthly budgets
Meanwhile they're consuming bandwidth, disk space and adding to general population numbers vs server quotas.
If the free trial isn't enough to get them interested they're likely in the same boat as your two "budget constrained" friends.Quote:and I have at least six other friends who would play but don't have enough interest to buy the game and pay the monthly sub. I think for every player we have in game, I'm sure they have at least close to the same amount of people in their life in a similar scenario (totally speculating here.)
That's just it, the people who described wouldn't be doing hellacious amounts of microtransactions. So your $960 estimate is more than likely extremely high.Quote:So if you could get those 8 or so people to start playing the game, albeit for free, and they MTS around $10 a month, let's say, on whatever is being offered (costumes, consumables, QoL features), that's an additioanl $960 a year, just generated from me being able to get my eight friends to play.
And ponies. Magical ponies. Magical SINGING ponies! Magical singing ponies and PIE!Quote:Assume the entire playerbase (assuming we have 125k subscrubers) is in a similar situation, that's a potential $120,000,000 in revenue from word of mouth/referrals and getting their friends to play the game for free.
Remember, POTENTIALLY this game could be subbed by everyone on the planet. Leading to NINETY BILLION in revenue.
Now start looking at "confidence levels". In other words, how likely the sales guys think that said event is. Basically multiply that confidence level against the potential money involved and you get an idea of what actual revenues are likely to be.
So what's 120 million times .0001?
Fixed that for you.Quote:That's not including what other people, without friends in the game, decide to up and join if they actually buy anything. -
Yep. And it's almost as fun as having one of your old CDs explode inside a brand new BluRay drive...

Didn't happen to me. But the person whom it DID happen to was MIGHTILY unhappy. To top it off, the CD that POOFed was one he used frequently (one of the reasons I hate DRM'ed software). -
Praetoria tends to slow everyone down. And KM tends to feel slower, regardless of actual numbers.

I'm debating on whether or not to bust out Hyperstrike or work one of my lowbies up.

Okay, about 90% of the time, when replying to a PM on the forums, everything works as expected. The name of the person I'm replying to comes in, as does the body of their original message.
HOWEVER. For a small number of specific people, I CANNOT get this to work properly. And it's always the same people. When I hit reply, I get a completely blank PM form.
If I wasn't so prolific with PMs, it'd be a "no biggie". But I'm helping people via PM and having to copy-paste everything into a new PM window

Any chance anyone knows what this issue is caused by and if there's a fix for it? -

Quote:There are a several rounding errors in Mids. Most of the time it's "close enough" so it doesn't matter.I finished my build for my dark/fire brute. (Except for the Glad 3% proc...) had to strip a blaster for the purps, sigh. Still, good times, the brute is great.
One question though, his actual Def in game is a couple percent higher than Mids said it would be. I have i19 mids, did something change in i20? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy? -

Quote:What if the devs made it able to be monitored (the way Inf is)? This way it'd be a tiny monitor window on your screen.Just asking for a QOL improvement. Mainly because Im just really good at not paying attention to the number of tickets I have and tend to not notice until Im full. Sometimes long after Im full. I check every once in a while but it seems whenever I check Im at 9999. So would be nice to be able to go a bit higher and not have those tickets wasted. Then perhaps when I check Ill be at 12582 or something and get off my butt and use them before I get to the cap again.

And I got only one chance. Then the heavy handed and machine like mechinism comes into play asked for programme codes and 20 digite logins given to me at issue. what the heck? so I answer the beat I could and I got the reaponse. You didnot answer between the lines.. Arrggggg. so question do I have to do this now or can I wait till I at home?
You're going to have to call NCSoft and have them reset your questions. -
Quote:Actually the "stopped responding" issue was cleared up driver revision or two ago. From what I understand the 400 and 500 series of Nvidia cards are terrible at OpenGL (As in super mega fail bad), when you combine that with the driver recovery function of Vista/Win7 it causes the OS to assume the card/driver has 'crashed'.
As for bad OGL? Yes, it's not as fast as the highly optimized DX pipeline, but it's by NO means sucky, let alone "super mega fail bad"
My 460 was perfectly acceptable.
My 560 is just fricking awesome. -
As Texas Justice said, follow the guide to asking help in my sig. Post the results here in this thread.
Honestly, it sounds like one or more of your drivers may not be up to date.
Also, are you running any Stardock software to modify how your desktop looks? If so, try disabling it.
Will be able to tell you more once we see your logfiles. -

While not a Victory regular, congrats anyhow.
And get yourself a set of headphones. Waking the little energy vampire is going to become THE most important thing in your life for the next year or so. You don't want a solid KA-THOOM from the game giving him/her ideas about practicing their singing voice.
