    Sound Effects

When you leave a tab, the tab name itself turns grey. When there is new activity in a tab, the name turns white again. So, you can scan a whole line of tabs for new activity by looking for white-named tabs.

As far as sound goes, I am not aware of anything that can be done.

It does still truncate at 50 and no longer display the total, but you can just search again to get the next batch of fifty people and so on until you get to less than 50 people, filtering unneeded. (So you can search three times and get 50+50+15 for 115 people on the server and see everyone eventually. Although filtering works as well.)

Actually, the "Last Hit Chance" is your chance to hit the enemy, not their chance to hit you... unless you have used a Power Analyzer Mk. on them and are thus viewing all their stats.
  4. Wendy, your example of running a Positron TF is correct, but...

    (Bold mine)

If the patch notes are accurate, a team running an ITF exemplared to 49 while still fighting 50+ enemies, should indeed still see Incarnate Shard drops.
  5. In the original arc, Black Swan could be missed as all that was required for mission complete was to rescue the hostage, Julio Jimenez. I don't think Nightstar was required for mission complete either, but she appeared in the same mission as Siege, and generally was found before him. The 'Disrupt the Ritual' mission was/is a standalone with her that awarded the Shrouded/Shady badge for staying on the map for enough time.

I haven't played the new arc unfortunately, so I can't say how those mission requirements are. Also, that list from Badge Hunter is out of date. Mother Mayhem is now required, as of I18. There was a bug about Nightstar not awarding credit for the badge in the new arc, but that bug has been squashed, and she awards credit properly now.

To the OP: If you do one of Maria Jenkins' arcs, you will get most of the 14 needed. If you do her old version, A Hero's Hero, you'll be missing only Anti-matter, obtainable from Tina Macintyre's arc The Praetorian War. If you do Maria's new arc, A Hero's Epic, you will still be missing Anti-matter, but also will be missing Siege, obtainable in one of Maria's standalone missions or in Mission 3 of A Hero's Hero.
  6. It's a reward for unlocking the Alpha slot. Now I can have a level 50 team build that takes advantage of what's in my Alpha, an Exemplar team build and a solo build!
  7. To clarify Chaos's answer: Compare the numbers for damage in the Manage Enhancements screen's tooltips both when slotted and unslotted. The boosts show up there.

However, if you slotted your attacks for maximum damage (3 Single Origins worth or more as a rule of thumb) you will get far less than 33% from the Alpha slot. A portion (the majority for now) of the Alpha slot gets hit by ED's diminishing returns. This is why I am of the opinion that it is better to Alpha slot for an attribute you haven't slotted for normally.

The problem with that is that Super speed is already as fast as the engine can keep up with. Make it go faster and you run into problems like entering areas the game hasn't drawn yet, so you bounce off invisible walls or get stuck in them. I'm pretty sure a Dev has posted something to that effect before, but darned if I know who or when.

    Free respec?

Quick answer: Type /respec into your chat line. If the respec process starts, you have a freespec.

If you want to know whether you have any respecs at all, when you first log in, in the list of green system messages, one will say something like "You have X Respecs available."

    Halloween 2010?

So far as I know, there has been no official word yet regarding this year's Halloween Event.

    Purple Drop Rate

Well, the first thing I have to ask is, are you fighting level 47+ enemies? Those are the only ones that drop purples. (Technically, it's anything that cons green or better to a level 50, but I find that easier to remember.) There is no specific activity beyond this that increases your purple drop rate - they drop off enemy defeats.

Secondly, how much time do you spend teaming? TFs obviously you're teamed, but in general? Teams dilute your drops, as any given enemy will only (potentially) drop one purple, which will be randomly given to a team member. The drop rate for purples is speculated at anywhere from 1 in 1500 enemies to 1 in 5000 enemies. Those numbers are for solo play, so teaming will increase them by up to a factor of 8. The RNG is still random, though, so what has come before has no bearing on what comes next. IOW, you could just be having a very long unlucky streak.

I agree that it does seem Temp Powers drop a lot.

The good news is, if you have Going Rogue, you can now make a concerted effort to earn your purples beyond relying on luck. If you run hero or villain focused Morality missions you earn Hero/Villain Merits, which can be used to directly buy purple recipies from vendors in Fort Trident/The Crucible (found in Atlas Park/Cap Au Diable). Note that the first time you reinforce your morality, you get 50 regular Reward Merits instead of a Hero/Villain Merit. That's ok though, because you can also convert Reward Merits into Hero/Villain Merits at a rate of 50:1, for a fee of 20 Million INF. I glanced over the prices last night, and it seems Purple recipes run at about 20 Hero/Villain Merits right now.

I seem to take too long typing, as 3 others posted before me
Also I didn't check your Forum Reg date, so if you know all this already I don't mean to sound condescending about it.
  12. The deal was just a one week deal, printed in your Sunday newspaper. Unless it is in this week's paper too, you've missed out. Sorry.

    Login Problems

From what I understand, you are supposed to move the updater file itself to the desktop. Creating a shortcut to it won't work. (I think it'll try to overwrite itself while running which doesn't work.)
  14. The contact you were looking for is Brick Johnson. He's in Port Oakes' Arena District, between the Pocket D entrance and the Black Market. He's a level 10-14 contact though, so I don't know if he'll give you the costume mission at 15. You might be able to Flashback his arc at 25, but I haven't checked on my VEAT, and Paragonwiki doesn't list it as Flashbackable.

FYI, Brick should pass you to Fortunata Hamilton in Cap au Diable. She'll be your VEAT contact until Level 30. Then you go back to Desslock.

Also, only the VEATs get the extra costume slot, the HEATS (Kheldians) don't.
  15. Did you run the updater, or the downloader you got from the website? I'm not sure if they are the same, but other threads I've read make me suspect not. The updater will check for a new patch, then start the game if it doesn't find one. The downloader though will just download the whole game again before running it.

If someone comes along and say I'm full of trash and the programs don't work this way, I'll be mighty embarassed.

    Game cards

Well, I don't use time cards, so my only suggestion would be to contact customer support if you haven't already. Give me some time and I'll look up exactly how to get in touch with them for you. (Or someone else may beat me to it.)

Edit to add: Ok, this Link is to the Knowledge Base: Ask a Question site which I believe is part of customer support. Hope that works for you. After opening a support ticket, you'll get an auto-reply. Make sure you respond every couple days to keep that ticket open, or it will close automatically and they will assume your problem fixed itself.
  17. Was it an abnormal close? If so, the updater will automatically verify all files to check if any are corrupted and thus caused the abnormal exit. Ignore the four hour estimate. Our updater is really, REALLY bad at time estimation.

If the game closed because you backed out and exited yourself.... then I got nothin, and hope someone else will be along shortly to help.

Welcome to the game, by the way!

Something to be aware of then, is that there aren't any actual storyarcs in the Shard besides the TFs, just 5(?) repeatable content contacts similar to Borea/Marcus Valerius/Meg Mason. The Kora Fruit mission mentioned previously comes from Dr. Huxley. She will always have more Kora Fruit missions for you.
  19. Well, there's always the copy-paste option. Highlight the message part, CTRL-C to copy, start a new reply with Backspace, CTRL-V to paste. Not sure if it's a time saver for two replies, but more than that it should work well.
  20. The Karma: KB is actually a Global, not a proc, as it functions as a set bonus, but the availability was stated correctly.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Karma:...ack_Protection

This means that the lower level your IO, the further down you can exemplar and still have it.
  21. If I remember correctly (can't get on to verify right now), there are both colorable and non-colorable versions of the mace at the tailor. Make sure you have the proper version selected. I know sometimes I go to the tailor and have a random face, or other costume part selected.

    Ghost Summoning

Hero Controllers have Illusion control, which is probably the closest you get. They get the Phantom Army, Spectral Terror, and Phantasm.
  23. If I remember correctly, the first elevator to take is the one facing the back wall. The next floor down the usable one will be on the left (as you face the back wall.)

Also, the O-portal is disabled for the entirety of the mission, including before self-destruct is activated.
  24. This may not be limited to AE. I was doing the last mission of the Introduction to Ouroboros arc last night, and Mender Lazarus would not help me beat on the Meteor. I'm not sure if it was just the Meteor, or if it was all fighting though, didn't go near any shivans once I got ML. I've got lots of alts starting that arc though, so I can check it more thoroughly later.

    With regards to Global channels:

There are (at least) two ways to find Global channels. One is to pop down to the server forums you are interested in and ask there. (Although they are cross server, many tend to cluster around a single server.)

The second way is to use the Channel search function. Right-click in your chat box to bring a very large list of options. Channel search is about 3/4 (?) of the way down. This brings up a search box (default search is for server and Archetype I think) that you can type whatever topic you like, and if the search term is in the name of the channel, it is listed. The search box tells you both total membership and current online membership of the channels you find.

With regards to looking/not looking for team:

Just because one is not actively looking for a team does not mean one is not open to a team. Not Looking is the default option, and most of the time I (and I imagine many others) don't bother to change my flag. Note that there is an option specifically against teams (the red 'No' slashed circle). If someone sets this flag, team invites are auto-rejected, and the entire line in the search box for that person has a red background.

When I put together a team (and there are people with better technique that will hopefully share), I look for Looking flagged people first, then anyone in an open zone that is Not Looking, then inside missions. I send a tell stating what I intend to do with the team (Radio missions, fight such-and-such AV, putting together a TF, whatever) and possibly the level range. After a positive response, I send the invite, to negative ones I say thanks anyway. I stay aware of how many non-responses I get so I don't end up with a sudden flurry of acceptances after my team is filled.
