Westley's post is pure win. I really like the "Bootleg Edition" idea. Especially if it promoted the villain side LOL
And I heartily approve of your signature pic too Westley -
Quote:Does that mean Soulwind's numbers are wrong? They look right to me extrapolating from the wiki. If, on the other hand, Swift is going to be part of your build anyway, you can save that second slot for Fly since Fly + Swift with just one Fly IO in each will only be .4 mph from the fly cap.
Quote:56.2 mph - Fly + Swift - 1 level 50 common IO in base fly - 1 level 50 common IO in Swift
It's 2 slots in Fly without Swift that puts you .4mph under the cap. -
I think it is pretty likely he hasn't paid for a month above and beyond his free month from the initial game I purchased for him (we got tired of the Trial restrictions). He just keeps buying cheap copies of COH he finds around Dallas and applying those... and now his 2 month Referral has expired.
It's just too bad that it has to be a credit card payment within 2 months to get the credit if that's the reason. Plus I'm lazy and don't care enough to pursue it, but I can believe that would be a real turn-off for someone trying to use the system for the reward. -
Hate to get off the flaming subject and back on the OP, but I have gotten quite a few people to at least try the game, and most have joined. I have yet to get the refer-a-friend bonus though. I'm not sure what hoop I'm not passing through but even when it says "retail activated" I don't get the extra time on my account.
Not that it matters much. Having another friend to play with is reward enough but... it's a bit disappointing to get promised something and never get it... ya know? -
I have a mother/daughter pair, and a sister pair.
One person is both a hero and a villain - the villain is making scouting trips under an assumed name to Paragon city. I try to keep them about the same level (one dominator, one controller). The roleplay with that one is a lot of fun.
Other than that, they all know each other as acquaintences through the supergroups though, with the one exception, none of my villains are at all related to my heroes. -
Yeah, I'll probably keep it for the run and hover enhancement although as much as she runs inside missions the extra jump height would be nice and I can always turn on Sprint for extra run speed since she never has endurance problems.
Changing the subject a bit, I very rarely turn on Hover in missions because, as a winged elf, GA has two giant view-blockers glued to her back. That makes the speed for hover a pretty moot point most of the time.
Does anyone else get annoyed with wings for that reason or am I the only one?
I really wish the camera could be set to not be blocked by walls and ceilings. I've played other games that allowed that and I've gotten spoiled. -
Thanks guys! That was exactly what I was looking for.
I think I'll go ahead and replace my Swift enhancement with a Run since it isn't doing me any good now. Probably respec from Swift to Hurdle later. -
I hate the forum search function *grumble*
Ok, I looked in the Wiki and found that 2 SO's pretty much top you out in fly at level 50. Assuming the same was true for all levels I put a 2nd slot in fly on Golden Avariel who I want to be a fast flier.
She's level 28 and her speed did not change at all when I put in the enhancement and seems stuck at 49.18 mph (wish I'd paid attention to the blue color before I put in the new slot). She's well over the limit now for her level with 41 from fly, 2.5 from swift and a base of over 14mph.
Is the wiki wrong that it requires 2 SO's to hit the cap at 50? If not, does anyone know at what approximate level the 2nd SO in Fly actually helps your speed?
I'd go make a suggestion to raise the fly speed cap across the board to support 3 SO's but I suppose that's been made a million times already? I can see now I should have gotten hurdle for her instead of swift. Ah well, live and learn I guess. -
After hunting around some I found the hydra. This was definitely what I was talking about and far from being a GM...

Quote:Same here. One of my first posts was about this mission... and a few weeks later it was about Lars Hansen's "Clear the Wolf's Throat" mission in Striga. My first post on this board was asking how to find this mission. Since then, I've seen the question asked a good half dozen times, always met with a chorus of "yeah, that drove me crazy too."
I think finding the excavation site in Faultline is sort of a rite of passage for CoH. -
heh thanks. I know there's no right or wrong here but it's hard not to feel like a wimp when others talk about running +2 or +3 or x8 or whatever.

Quote:After a while you not only memorize the layouts you know where the 10 places those 5 hostages will spawn are. But, knowing the map by heart does not help you know if you've actually been in a particular place on a map. Take for instance the outdoor instanced missions. I'm looking to free 5 hostages or whatever and the locations of these vary, not to mention that they are usually hidden in corners requiring my scour every inch of the map trying to find them all.
Quote:While it can be frustrating to find that one glowie or baddy hiding in some corner, or timed outdoor maps (like the one mentioned above) I can honestly say that I would not particularly like this enhancement either. This would be like going on an easter egg hunt and knowing ahead of time where all the eggs are... What's the point? Isn't part of the challenge not knowing where the eggs are? Again, I hope that if this is included that I can turn the feature off. -
Sometimes it doesn't happen. I rejoice if I get into the screen and the cursor isn't changing to a hand when hovering over something. It works fine as long as the cursor remains an arrow.
Strange and irritating bug. -
I like +2 in bigger, higher level teams. However, if there are many side-kicks or the only damage dealers are side-kicks, then I don't think it is fair to expect them to do their job against a lot of +4 bosses... at least not if they are below the mid 30's.
Any bump up under any circumstance before SO's seems like you are just asking for trouble. But I guess I'm just a whimp and probably need to learn 2 play.
But to answer the OP, my duos and solo scrappers usually run at +1 as a matter of course after the mid 20's. -
Don't worry Hube02. There are others who like to play just like you do. I too prefer 3-4 man teams where tactics are more important and the "sweaty palms factor" (challenge) is higher.
I do love steamroller teams that are clicking on all cylinders but not all teams immediately find their rythm. The worst teams don't even realize there is such a thing as a sweet-spot speed. They just keep increasing the hurriness factor and then wonder why there are so many deaths or worse, just assume multiple deaths every few minutes is normal. Slowing down, even a little can make a big difference and allow the team to actually finish the missions faster.
But very few ever want to hear that. -
I thought this "known issue" was fixed with issue 15's release. I know at least some of the edges in some areas were smoothed out then.
-
There was no maintenance this morning. At least not at the normal time. Maybe the scheduled maintenance tomorrow will finally turn it off?
Strange. Feels like no one's driving the car doesn't it? -
Quote:This is the number one problems new players have about understanding fly. Every time I see a new person with hover using S to climb and W to descend I have to explain it to them because I did the very same thing. I remember hovering backwards over the Hollows to gain altitude then sideways to get where I was going and then descending forward. I thought it was so dumb until I learned I was the dumb one. When flying, your point-of-view angle will have an effect on your flight direction. Looking over-the-body will cause your character's flight to descend, while looking under-the-body will cause your character's flight to ascend.
This is something to bear in mind when you're using flight to go from one part of the zone to another and you either see yourself gradually climbing or descending. -
Quote:Ah so it is. I'm so used to TF's having a 6 level spread I just assumed. Should have looked first. Actually, I did look to make sure it was a signature TF, I just didn't think to look at the level spread. It is level 30-34 TF. Devs can fix it only if they aware of the bug. I PM'd Arbiter_Kim about this thread but haven't heard from him yet.
Still, I'm sure she used to scale up (and the wiki confirms this) so that part is still a bug. -
It's a level 30-35 "signature" TF so everything should spawn at 35+. If the boss is spawning at 34 that's a bug. If she's supposed to ramp up (however much) and isn't, that's a bug.
Hopefully when they fix the difficulty settings for all TF's this will get fixed at the same time. -
Quote:That would be perfectly acceptable.given the dev's unwillingness to change stuff that has already been published into the game, I would suspect that the static tails aren't going to be taken out.
So perhaps I mis-spoke in how I phrased my statement.
If BaB's is working on animating tails, I suspect that you will be out of luck in having both a cape effect and animated tail effect.
That does not mean that you will not still be able to have a static tail with a moving cape effect. -
Quote:Then frankly the tails can stay where they are and how they are. I'd rather live without a belt than live without my scarf or other short cape or especially wings just because I want a tail.I'm afraid you are going to be a bit out of luck on this part.
...
There's also a possibility that animated tails could be moved into Back Detail.
But all he said was he was working on separating them. That doesn't necessarily mean they are animated or that if they are animated that they'll use the flowing "cape" system (could be a very limited swishing movement and still be a lot more lifelike than they are now). I can keep my hope up that they'll put them someplace besides Back... maybe open a whole new "Details" section on bottoms which would open a whole new aspect of customization and would make me very happy... ok, now I'm dreaming.
At any rate, I realize my opinion counts for nothing but I will be very upset if I can't switch out costumes on my tank after some tail-change goes live. -
Quote:OMG Surely that was made up. It had to be... He was being a troll or something... right?

I was attacked by some sort of tentacles once when I accidentally jumped into the water near Doc Delilah. I don't remember what they were called.
That was over a year ago and I haven't seen them since. I'd hardly class them as a giant monster... but it was strange and a bit terrifying when it happened since I was new to the game. -
I've seen that room before. Is it the same one used in that RWZ mission to defeat both the Rikti AV and Nemesis at the same time?
That room is awful. The graphics glitches are awful. Stuff disappears when you are standing right next to it depending on camera angle. I was frequently standing on thin air while fighting rikti on the bridges. The lag could be terrific at times too. I'm glad to see I and my team aren't the only ones that have trouble with that room.
