As long as you ignore this argument, which has been made at least three times in this thread [once by me], you've got some brass ones when you "suggest [people] look more carefully."
The problem with this logic is: That IO or recipe or whatever is for sale was already there.
If I wanted it, I could bid 1 mil, have it immediately and be a happy camper. In your situation you have removed that opportunity from me due to your own greed. I cannot buy that IO for a fair price immediately, that option is gone.
Why should I have to wait simply because you want me to when the IO was already there for a fair price? Why should I have to pay your Greed tax if the IO was already there for a fair price?
You aren't providing a service, you are taking one away.

For what it is worth, I don't blame the marketeers for this. In real life, producers how found a way to protect their goods from such treatment by a middle man. They write the recommended retail price directly on the packaging - we have no protection from such things in this game and that is the Dev's fault not yours.

The game in question was Lotro.
My marketing didn't really have anything to do with my ban, my entire guild controlled the market in this manner but it is no coincidence that those who had lifetime subs were all banned and those who weren't were left alone. I don't blame the marketing for my ban, it was just a weak excuse to prevent those Turbine had no means of profiting from using their resources.
  3. Why do Masterminds get credit for the pets and Tanks get credit for their Res debuff but my Crab gets credit for neither?
If I see a Tank managing to do more dps than my Crab, I am going to report him because he is obviously hacking the server.

Giant, would you like to learn how to make billions? It's really easy. In fact, I'll front you some cash if you like. I'm a multibillionaire too.
As I said I have more money than I need, I have also said I know how to play the market well - actually I said I have played the market so well in another mmo the Devs thought it necessary to ban me for it.
So no, I don't need your advice, I don't need your money and I don't need your trolling.
  5. I am not going to quote any post with this response in particular because they are pretty much all about questioning the relevance of the term "dishonorable" so I'll answer them all in this post.
If I want an IO and someone has it listed for 1 mil, awesome. I bid a mil and it is mine.
If I want an IO and someone has it listed for 1 mil and then someone else buys it immediately re-listing it for 10mil, I have to bid 10 mil if I want it. That is 9 million that is taken from my pocket and placed in yours for what service? You provided nothing of value and took my money. What honor could there possibly be in that?
You can justify it to yourself in any way you like, I don't care but don't pretend it is the honorable thing to do.

This one has to get first reply because it humored me a little.
You quoted me perfectly, yet you chose not to read the content. Before posting something that makes you look like you lack a basic understanding of the English language, I suggest you look more carefully.
The term "unless you actually enjoy it" invalidates everything you have said to the point it is laughable. I am not telling them how to have fun, I am acknowledging the possibility that some people might find it fun. What I am saying is perhaps you should read the posts you quote before you respond to them because it just makes you look silly.

For the buyer, they are determining what they will pay, not me. I have no control over what they decide to pay. I offer them a nice, shiney fully crafted I/O that they can slot immediately. They don't have to get the recipe, find the salvage, pay the crafting cost and find someplace to craft it.

If they don't want to use the market, the other sources are merits, AE tickets (for salvage or random rolls) Alignment merits and so forth. They can get anything they would care to work for and never use the market.

Further, the devs tell us that the game is balanced around SO's not IO's. They don't have to do anything but hit up the stores and buy SO's.

    Where am I acting dishonorably?
I apologize, it sounds like you are buying recipes and crafting them and relisting. I have no problem with that - you are providing a service to earn your mark up.

I assumed you were doing what I had once done on a different game (which earned me a permaban even though I had not broken any rules). I was simply buying things cheap and relisting them at a significantly higher price.

I am buy those things that people up for less than that. Lots of people list at a very low price like 1 or 1000 or some number like that. As long as I Have the high bid at the moment then I win the auction.

I am always paying at least 1 inf over whatever the player selling is offering it for.
And you don't consider that dishonorable? If someone wants that product, the no longer have to pay the minimum that they would have without your input, they have to pay the minimum + whatever mark up you decide to put on there.

If the Joker decided to buy all the Utility Belts in the World and re-sell them for prices Batman could not afford, the world's most popular superhero would be reduced to quite a boring character.

I convert inf to prestige on new servers so I can have a base.

I spend maybe 20 minutes a session on marketing and that is with 3 toons. I play a lot, probably about 3 - 4 hours a night. I get my money 's worth. Enought that I have two accounts.

I flip salvage to open market slots or to start a new toon off with a little nestegg to get to 27. Otherwise, I don't bother because it is boring.

I don't find it dishonorable. I don't steal from any players, I don't make them do anything. If I had a Action number 1 and I said I wanted a million for it would that be too much? Or should I just give it away at fraction of that because there is a collector who wants it but can't afford it?

How exactly do I get the inf to the "needy" players? Give it away?

Guess what? I already do. When they will take it.

The other night someone was saying he couldn't afford to craft because of all the rare salvage needed. He was begging people to send it to him because he wanted it NAO. He had hit 50 and he wanted to I/O.

I sent him 250 million. He never even thanked me. I asked to me sure he got it and a couple other folk said that they would thank me if sent them money, so I did. They wouldn't take it. They were just griefing him for bad manners. I give away money all the time, when they will take it.

I post up salvage all the time cheap for people with little money. They still pay me too much. What do you expect me to do?

I list my crafted stuff like 20% to 25 % below market value. They still pay me to much.

I gave a level 28 Stealth Unbounded Leap in exhange for a lvl 28 Adj Targeting Recharge. He didn't ask. I was complaining that I couldn't get one no matter how much I was bidding. I practically had to beg him to take it. It took 4 tells before he would accept it.

What would you have me do?
Well to be honest, it doesn;t sound like you are who I was talking about.
I am wondering how do you manage to make a profit selling stuff below the market value? I assumed you were buying below the market value and selling higher for a profit.
    Sounds like I was wrong.

I play a lot of Brutes and Tanks and have never been hit with a Nova Fist. You get around a solid 8s warning which is ample enough time to finish your attack and the one queued and then get out of range. Granted, lag may be a contributing factor here and you may not get as much warning as I seem to.
  11. I don't play the market (much) to me it is the most dishonerable and more importantly: boring, way to make inf.

I make enough to IO the characters I need to but I never have such a massive surplus because once you have everything you need, the excess has no value. Using your time to earn more without need is a significant waste of $15 a month unless you actually enjoy it (which I doubt). If you do enjoy it, why? It is just because you enjoy taking inf from the needy?
  12. If the damage is avoidable like Nova Fist then I have no problem with it.
A cheap character on SOs with higher skill levels should most definitely survive longer than a moronic character with lots of inf backing him.

    Meta-Changes

I don't think there are going to be very many free players to worry about. They are very very limited in this game and will either have to quit or upgrade. They won't stay free.
  14. I gotta start selling Salvage...

    Meta-Changes

Free players can't trade but can they still be gifted to?
If I have an enhancement and right click it and to to the option "Give to" will it let me give it to them?
If so maybe the prizes just need to stop being influence.

    That is just bad business.
Regardless of where the majority of players are from, do you think it would cost more subscriptions by locking a minority out for a week or the minority out for 5 days and the majority for 2?
    The answer is obvious.
  17. I'm amazed people would claim Electric Armor as a contender for weakest powerset...
Maybe on a Stalker because all Stalkers are contenders for the weakest but on a Tank/Scrap/Brute, it is easily the most survivable powerset.
Just like everything else, with a little effort it can cap smashing lethal and energy defense but it also comes with the best resists to those damage types and some significant regen. It doesn't even have the Psi hole that Granite has...
    Elec Armor is easymode.
  18. Thanks for taking a look Aggelakis.

It still doesn't really help though, what I mean to say is: The 5 piece Kinetic Combat has the exact same set bonus as the 2 piece Performance Shifter or Gaussians or 5 piece Cloud Senses.
The difference is, in Mids the latter 3 all share the same pool for the total of 5 of the same set bonuses, Kinetic Combat doesn't, it seems to share with Aegis which is only a 5% runspeed boost.

Is that how it is in the game?
  19. The reason I was asking is because the Aegis bonus and the Kinetic Combat bonus appear different but Mids is treating them as the same.
The Aegis bonus is 5% Runspeed only, the Kinetic Combat bonus is 5% Runspeed/Flyspeed/Jumpspeed/Jumpheight I wanted to know if the game treats them the same as Mids does or whether it is only Mids treating them the same.
  20. I am trying to make a Granite Tank with a respectable movement speed with both Rooted and Granite on.
After playing around in mids I have noticed it is claiming that the 5% runspeed from Aegis is conflicting with the 5% Runspeed/Flyspeed/Jumpspeed/Jumpheight from Kinetic Combat with respect to the 5 set bonus cap. Is it this way in game or a mids bug?
It doesn't seem to conflict with Performance Shifter or Gaussian's which give the same set bonus as Kinetic Combat.

Yiou know, in all my years of playing MMOs, never in any of them had I considered this. I just assumed they had a team there around the clock.

Actually no, that is like the Nike store being open during the same time regardless of what timezone they are in. sure it might be nice for them to be open when people can do their shopping in America but that time isn't going to be convenient for the rest of the world. The Nike store that is open in Australia when Australians can't access it is doomed to fail. BTW yes, I think I would be entirely right to blame the Nike store's manager who thought that was a good idea.

I'd be more happy if people were put out at random regardless of their number. Putting out the same group repeatedly isn't fair in any sense of the word.
You lost two mornings playing and are okay with it. That suggests to me that Americans won't overreact to having their play time cut short every now and then and cancel their accounts. How long do you think an Australian will keep paying for if they can't play each and every day?
    I say spread the hate.
