That sounds about right with even using the taskbar making CoX loose priority.
Advantage is that if it *does* stick at a low priority, you can always bring it back up with Process Explorer -
Process Explorer is what I use as my task manager.. you can download it from www.sysinternals.com (dont worry about the microsoft part, they bought out the company cos they knew more about how windows worked than some engineers at microsoft).
you can choose for it to show priority, but it will do it as a numerical value (as windows itself manages it)
Idle: 4
Below Normal: 6
Normal: 8
Above Normal: 10
High: 13
Real Time: 24 -
Running memory above the "stock" speeds can introduce errors.
You can run "memtest86" to test out the memory to see if there any faulty sectors.
Do this at the *stock* speed.
Not all memory can be overclocked to the max, and even different batches of the same memory can have different overclocking limits (or even non at all) -

Well, the more recent versions of the cards (460 and 5xx range) support DirectX11 and OpenGL 4.1 as bare minimum spec.
Not to mention as well that if you use CUDA, you will notice a perfomance increase between the older and newer cards. -
The GTX260 is a couple of "generations" old now, even though in timespan wise, its only at most 2 years old.
The GTX460 (which is more recent) is "last years" model, as Nvidia have now released the GTX5xx range -
Well to remove the randomness then the "splinters" could be awarded at the end of the mission equally...
*shrugs* -
Once its been disabled in the bios, you should have *no* issues what so ever to uninstalling the software.
Removing the reg keys manually is always a problem though, as doing that normaly borks the included uninstaller as well.
Driversweeper though should be able to pick it up and remove it otherwise. -
Uninstall the ATI drivers and control panel via Add/Remove programs.
The reason why it is popping up is that ATI drivers/control software will not work the NVidia stuff (and vice versa). And if i remember correctly, it loads up automatically with windows boot. -
Yep you can indeed just plug in and go. (Once you install the NVidia drivers of course)

Quote:Should maybe run more than one mission a day thenI wish I could get one shard per mission! I solo at +0 x2 or 3 depending on the group I'm fighting and I'm lucky if I get 1 shard every 2 or 3 days!
I kid I kid...
An increase in drop rates could actually help alleviate the "strain" of earning these shards itself, so although it appears to be a "high" number, earning 3x or 4x a many shards a mission could make it more acceptable. -
nope, not missing anything.
Vsync will do this when your FPS drops below the refresh rate just so that it remains in synch with the monitor.
VERY HANDY GUIDE ABOUT GRAPHICS AND STUFF (direct linked to Vsync section, but other stuff is handy)
Quote:When VSync is enabled, what happens is that your graphics card is told to wait for your monitor to signal when it's ready for a new frame before supplying a single whole frame, each and every time. It can't race ahead, it can't just pump out lots of partially completed frames over old ones whenever it's ready - it has to provide a single whole frame to the monitor whenever the monitor says it's ready to refresh itself during VBI. The first noticeable impact is that your FPS becomes capped at a maximum equal to your current refresh rate. So if your refresh rate is 60Hz for example, your framerate can now only reach a maximum of 60FPS. By itself this isn't really a problem, since every monitor can do at least a 60Hz refresh rate at any resolution, and as we've discussed under the Frames Per Second section, if your system can produce 60FPS consistently in a game this should be more than enough FPS to provide smooth natural motion for virtually any type of game.
There is however a more fundamental problem with enabling VSync, and that is it can significantly reduce your overall framerate, often dropping your FPS to exactly 50% of the refresh rate. This is a difficult concept to explain, but it just has to do with timing. When VSync is enabled, your graphics card becomes a slave to your monitor. If at any time your FPS falls just below your refresh rate, each frame starts taking your graphics card longer to draw than the time it takes for your monitor to refresh itself. So every 2nd refresh, your graphics card just misses completing a new whole frame in time. This means that both its primary and secondary frame buffers are filled, it has nowhere to put any new information, so it has to sit idle and wait for the next refresh to come around before it can unload its recently completed frame, and start work on a new one in the newly cleared secondary buffer. This results in exactly half the framerate of the refresh rate whenever your FPS falls below the refresh rate.
As long as your graphics card can always render a frame faster than your monitor can refresh itself, enabling VSync will not reduce your average framerate. All that will happen is that your FPS will be capped to a maximum equivalent to the refresh rate. But since most recent monitors refresh at 60Hz, and in many recent games it is difficult to achieve 60FPS consistently at your desired resolution and settings, enabling VSync usually ends up reducing your overall FPS. Fortunately, because this problem is pretty much caused by the frame buffers becoming filled up, there is a solution: enable a third frame buffer to allow more headroom. However this is not a straightforward solution, and to read more about it see the Triple Buffering section of this guide. -
I do believe that no-one has answered a question i had earlier on...
Seeing as you can craft the Notice of the Well... is there a cooldown on the crafting or is it a case of "if you have enough you can craft 10 in one go"? -
Quote:It was forced teaming for me... There was *no* way I was going to get past Honoree and the other dude solo.Bull.
The Ramiel RWZ mission. Hell, the Ramiel arc.
You bet you can solo that. There is NOTHING gating you and saying "You have to Team to do this."
Is it hard? For some ATs, yes! Is it a challenge over all? Pretty much.
So why go from something that works to forced (I don't buy 'encouraging' when the alternative is a Korean-esque grindfest) teaming? Thats just moronic.
I *had* to team up for that mission.
My other half *had* to ask me for help with Trapdoor, but not for the follow up mission (+0x1 for both of us).
So, what do you make of that?
Are you saying that me and my GF are crap players and didnt deserve it? It was challenging "solo orientated" content, but it was also definately forced teaming for me and my GF. -

TR was never profitable and more than likely would have never been profitable even if it was F2P.
It would have definately been a 1st for Auto Assault to go F2P and would have beaten a couple of other Sub only mmo's to the punch of changing their subscriptions. (From what I can remember a friend of mine saying, there were some nice changes just coming, but plugged was pulled on very short notice).
TR was running on a skeleton crew during the last few months, and the change over from Sub to F2P is actually pretty hard (possible, but it does also take money). Would it have worked? Who knows, but NCsoft wanted it gone at that point and away it went.
((That reminds me, need to stalk Kerensky and a couple of others that I know and catch up with them))
*edit*
Quote:Agreed, and would be interesting to see actually. I think it might just work as a "box purchase only" game, but design considerations need to be considered as well.Personally I'd rather see them follow the Guild Wars plan and develop a CoH2 instead of going F2P -
Quote:TR and Auto Assault were never profitable from the get go, and F2P still had stigma around when AA was closed down.Yeah tell that to Dungeon Runners, Tabula Rasa, Exteel, and Auto Assault. Of the 8 online games we can play from NCSoft they shut 4 of them down when they stopped being profitable. Not very good odds for CoH going F2P.
TR i believe they wanted shot of one way or another... the financials were the writing on the wall though just after 6 months of being live. -
So pretty much "Tip missions" with Level+1 then (right now)...
*sets mission difficulty to +1 for himself*
No point in setting it higher, for I struggle against reds too much whilst solo. And I dont have a level shift in my "soloing" incarnate slot. -
Quote:Thanks ever so much for that. Does explain why it appears in there, being that the "unique" part kicked it up and over the 100 Merit limitIt's not based on rarity.
All recipes that cost 99 Reward Merits or less are unavailable with Alignment Merits.
All recipes worth 100-199 Reward Merits sell for 1 Alignment Merit.
All recipes worth 200+ Reward Merits sell for 2 Alignment Merits.
All recipes that cannot be purchased with Reward Merits have special pricing rules (Costumes, Respecs, Purples, PVPs).
All rares have a base cost 100 merits or more. All Uncommons have a base cost of 50 or 75 merits. Modifiers are applied for various reasons, one of them being the Unique tag, which the Steadfast Res/Def has, making it one of the few Uncommons worth 100 or more, and therefore available with Alignment Merits. -
I am going to go and double check this, but it could well be that "unique" sets (ie ones that you can only slot one of) are included here....

Start Menu -> Run
in the box type "sfc /scannnow" (without the quotes)
Will try to replace any damaged/missing OS files with those from the WinXP CD. as the d3d9.dll is missing, it *might* be able to pull it from there. -
Just to point out a *slight* misconception about the WST rewards... its once per WST cycle and NOT once a week.
So in theory you could get 2 in 2 days, just run it once on monday, and then again on tuesday once it shifts over.
*edit*
Just wondering, but is there also a time limit on the crafting of the Notice from Shards? -
I think that we can actually agree that the cost for craft it is extreme...

Quote:I don't find them "dull" as such as I do still enjoy the rush of doing them... but for *most* of the people who do the speed runs, they have ran them (as in the case of the ITF) most nights of the week for the past year or so... The other TF's dont get a look in due to either difficulty, lack of knowledge, or even lack of time even when "speeded" through.Speed runs, for me, are incredibly dull. I love chewing out entire mobs and cackling a little as the team steamrollers stuff. More crushing, more drops, more fun. And yet speed running seems to be becoming the norm for so many that Im having to start my own TFs (not such a big deal as I used to find it, admittedly) to do what I term 'Alpha Runs'; If it moves, kill it. If it doesnt move, kill it anyway. If you cant target it, drop a damage patch on it for good measure. And Kill Everything!
One group of my friends typically run 2-3 TF's a night in the 3 hours that they spend playing the game. (I believe its normally the ITF, Barracuda and LGTF).
I enjoy "kill all" TF's unless the TF itself has "kill all" requirement, because you typically have 2 or 3 mobs that even a full group of 8 can miss out (clockwork I am looking at you) and you then spend a stupid amount of time goiung through the floors trying to work out where the hell they are.
Flip side, if i have the time, I go for "kill all" TF's -
That explains the Red DE that I had in my mission (considering I was set to +0x4) whilst level shifted....
