d3d9.dll file missing?

The d3d9.dll has to do with DirectX. Try redownloading the latest DirectX and see if that solves the problem. Also, make sure your video card drivers are up to date.

Anyone know of a way to uninstall DirectX? It doesn't show up under my install/remove program window

You cant actually uninstall DirectX as it *is* built into windows.
What programs are specifically causing the error (apart from iTunes).
What might also help is by going into program files, and then deleting their directories; rebooting then trying again.
If the directX installer is saying that everything is up to date and present, then i would generally believe it (although there is *never* anything wrong with downloading the nice large 100+MB installer and trying from there, instead of using the webinstaller (which is good for general updates)

Other than itunes, I've tried to run Champs Online (not all that dissapointed about it :P) and Desktop Dungeons. Both have given me the same issue.

Well, what I would do at this point is transplant the missing DLL from another XP system. Unfortunately my OS is in Spanish, so my copy would be no good for you.

Will try to replace any damaged/missing OS files with those from the WinXP CD. as the d3d9.dll is missing, it *might* be able to pull it from there.
So do i need to put the windows cd in the drive before i use that command?

I recently re-installed XP on my rig. I have been attempting to reinstall I-tunes and a couple other programs.
When I install them and attempt to run them, I get hte error message saying "This appliation failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Reinstalling does not fix the issue, and I have been unable to find a fix. I went to windows site and supposedly downloaded the file, but still nadda. And other thatn that all I can find are places to DL a tool that then wants to charge me for the file repair.
Have any suggestions?
