Quote:In orderA couple of questions:
1) What happens to my 1-man SG base if I transfer? Keep it or lose it?
2) What server(s) have equally active Red & Blue sides?
3) What server(s) is big enough for weekday/weekend teaming (abundant) WITHOUT blackouts on 2x XP weekend?
Thanks!
1) The roof gets blown off and it gets relocated to Faultline
2) Only the Korean one as both sides have a population of zilch.
3) All the EU ones. And I suspect everything US side except Freedon and possibly Virtue -
Don't forget to add in the cost of the OS - If the laptop had an OEM copy installed that isn't transferrable to the new machine. Other software probably can be.
You will also need a keyboard and mouse if you weren't connecting ones to the laptop. -
I'm not sure on which widescreen resolutions are supported but there have been some problems in the past where unsupported resolutions are selected so try changing the resolution in game and see if a different resolution displays everything - you may see some distortion if you pick something with a different aspect ratio but it will indicate if there is a problem supporting 1440x850.
Also 3Gb of video memory - is this 3 way SLI? -
If you're using a Trinitron type CRT display that could describe the support wires for the mask - in which case its to be expected. You would have two at 1/3 and 2/3 roughly down the screen.
As was said without any idea of your system specs we're just guessing. -
Try restarting the updater - the port it is using may be being blocked somewhere it will use a different port when it restarts.

Quote:CPU at 100% is normal and correct behaviour for Vista/Win 7 - Microsoft changed the way it allocate processor usage to maximise it.If you get a solution, please post it. My friend has the same problem - CPU at almost 100 % when he is in CoX, which makes all our voice programs crash. It's a bummer having to type during mishs! He has reduced everything to minimum for performance instead of quality - but I17 is definitely not improving game quality for us!

Haven't noticed this happening recently - have had it intermittently over the past few years but the last time it was a major issue was about 4 years ago - eventually tracked it down to my mouse driver! - Presumably it was sharing some resource with the sound driver (or possibly was leaking memory like the Zig's security systems).
So you may want to check that your drivers are all up to date - not just the obvious ones - although I would suggest starting with the sound and MB drivers. -

Got stuck on a couple of toons on Friday, jumping backwards worked quickly in both cases.

What are your temperatures like?
Possibly at the higher overclock the cpu temperature is causing it to throttle back with the result that you aren't getting the clock speed you expect. -
when you launch the gave click on the button that says Check all Files - that should identify and replace any corrupt files.

Quote:Going below 30FPS makes me twitch. But I've read plenty of people post that they find the game fine at 20FPS. I will never understand such statements, but there it is.
At the end of the day everything is a compromise and some of us will happily accept slightly lower framerates to play with higher graphics settings - others won't.
Its not as if this is a game where split second reactions make all that much difference in normal pvm gameplay.
The difference between 20 and 30 fps whilst noticible is not sufficiently so for me to justify the extra cash needed to obtain it whilst maintaining other settings others will have different opinions on this as what is acceptable is a subjective decision. I certainly have better places to spend £500 than on a top end graphics card others have different priorities.
Its more those that think they can see the difference between 70 and 90 fps that I don't understand. -
This could also be a firewall issue - The launcher has a pool of ports it cycles through to connect and it uses a different one each time it launches. If one of these is blocked (Your firewall, AV, or at your ISP) then any attempt to load the game will fail at that stage but closing the launcher and restarting will cause it to use a different port which may allow you to connect.
If that proves to be the problem I believe there is a switch you can add to the launcher to only use one specific port. -
Quote:That sounds like an IP address conflict or possibly running out of addresses on the DHCP server in the router but I'm not convinced that is the OP's problem. There's other factors to consider:
I remember there was a post a few whiles back where machine A worked fine until machine B was plugged into the network, then machine A got kicked. This is what it sounds like is going on here, except the plugging part, as the machines are both on. -

There were several villains with the badge from this way before it was removed from them.
Those temps are available at lvl 1 -
The Win 7 versions below Pro do have an XP mode but that is emulated, Pro and above run an actual XP image in a virtual PC so anything that runs in XP should run, however as this is a virtual machine you won't get direct access to the host PC's hardware. Whether this will be a problem will depend in how the driver is written. If it accesses the hardware via OS library calls (even unsupported ones) it should work - if it directly accesses the hardware you may have problems.
The best thing to do in this case is check with your sound systems support team as to whether it will work correctly in XP mode on Win7 Pro. -
Had this happen a couple of years back when I installed a Microsoft Explorer mouse - no matter what I did I couldn't get the scroll wheel to zoom.
Eventually I got the zoom back - after I changed the mouse! - seems to be a problem with the mouse driver - and yes I had tried updating to the latest version. -
Looks like a hoax to me.

apart from that why would XFX want to send this out to a large number of customers alienating them? -
Don't forget the Patron arcs - OK you don't leave the place in the best of condition but what else do you expect.

I'll bet - having experience the Striga ship mishes with wall to wall mobs on a team of 7 nova form Khelds and one very frustrated scrapper - he could never reach the mobs before the rest of us had wiped out them out - utter carnage is putting it mildly.

Looking at that the only bit that doesn't throw out alarms is the final 3 lines of text. I'd certainly be sending that email to the recycle bin as an obvious phishing attempt.
