Quote:That and can they get away from posting dates as 4/10 - that means 4th October in most of the world or 10th April in the US or even April 2010 in China - much better to post the month in alpha format so there is no confusion. If any Euros would like to take part in ze big splat, that's 23:00 UTC, or Sat May 28th 00:00 BST, or Sat May 28th 01:00 CEST.
Rednames, you should really look into an automatic time zone conversion feature for the forum. It makes event thingies like these SOOOOO much easier to communicate now that we're supposed to play with people on the other side of the pond. -
Quote:Last time I checked, May 16th was a MONDAY night.
Just checked again. Yup. The invasion event for the Champion server is from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Pacific Time on a Monday night, as per the first post in the thread.
The badge event is on the 27th on Freedumb which will be extended to cover 28th-30th if sufficient numbers join. They have also said they will have some other means of obtaining the badge at a later date which will be the only way I'll get it due to being away for the bank holiday. -
Was able to log in as far as the server selection screen on mine about 11PM but the actual servers were still locked out for internal testing only. If it hadn't been reactivated it would have failed before that point. Note that ALL of last night was still in the maintenance window.

Sounds like the graphics card may be overheating. - Check the cooling fan is clear of dust and is rotating. - You may need to add another case fan if your system temeratures are high - especially if the card doesn't expel hot air out of the case.
Could also be that it isn't getting sufficient power.
What is your PSU rated at and are you using a seperate rail from your system connectors - cheap generic PSUs often cannot provide sufficient power on the right rails even if they are rated higher than better quality ones. -
[QUOTE=Dante;3631680]Oh don't bet on it. After the list merge we can look forward to New & Improved Shafting v2. I hear it's based on i13 PvP.

Well if that is the case we should be safe as there won't be any happening -
Quote:You could make the API calls to the hardware directly to determine it but that then means they would need to test against a huge range of sound drivers. By calling a standard framework they only need to test against any compliant card - the card manufacturers will ensure their drivers handle all standard calls via the framework. This means if a new sound card is released the card manufacturer will test that it handles all framework calls and then it should work when a user plugs it into their system and installs the drivers. - If the game didn't use one of the frameworks then it could require a code update to handle the new driver.By the way: I'm no programmer, but I imagine Windows 7 does provide means for a game to determine how many channels of audio are available (e.g. 5.1) and address them directly. Then the game could remix its own sound across those channels and create its own 3D positioning. But this is hardly the same thing as DirectSound 3D, which I think had methods for a game to simply state where a sound should be positioned in 3D space, letting the API do the work of actually remixing it and adding delay, reverb, and echo effects.
(Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
This is probably also why those older cards are still supported. If they fully support the framework they will continue to work. -
Quote:I can just see them breaking through a portal into the Abandoned Sewer NetworkAnd that drawn line, for whatever reason, seems to always lead them into our sewers.
"Agggghhhh If they have done THAT to Hamidon what will they do to us mere mortals!"
just as the Hydra reaches out a tendril and sucks the life out of one of these new sources of food. -

Now to see if I've set up the folder structure right. -

COMBINED
LEAGUE
- There is now a sound played when receiving messages on the League chat channel.
It sounding 30 or so times a minute gets infuriating to put it mildly -
I think my worst was in a mish I stopped and then found I couldn't move - tried everything including asking teammates for help for about 5 minutes. None of them picked up on that I had hit Rest!
Also on a lvl 9 in the Hollows far side of the Zone and decided to use the Atlas Express to get back so turned off my toggles and charged into the first purple mob I saw - lvl 14 or 15 - then the next .... and the next. - They just couldn't hit me! - In the end I had to run all the way back running through about a dozen purple mobs, got back to Wincott and got next mish - One mob later - levelled up and promptly faceplanted on a blue mob.
I've also witnessed a few others - In Mercy on my Main 50 for a Rikti raid when they were new - finished it and then entered one of my Snake mishes only to be followed by a couple of the lowbies from the team from the Raid (lvl 4 or 5 iirc) who then proceeded to attack the Snake boss in front of them without checking its level - remember this predated autoexemp - I was amazed that they actually managed to get some damage on the lvl 52 Boss.
Probably the most embarrassing I've seen was someone lagging out tping on a lvl 50 and falling into a mob of level 1s who then proceeded to get the last 1hp of damage needed. -
The other important factor to consider here is what OS you are running
One of the changes made with Vista and continued with Win7 was that CPU useage would be maximised. i.e. It WAI for those OSs to operate at 100% CPU utilisation. -
Try again after today's maintenance
-
Looks like the Devs have decided its long overdue for Golden Girl to create a character on Union.
-
Did you ever die in the mish? - if so and if you had an active level shift - i.e. the Alpha one you would notice the conning colours change as you wouldn't have the shift when dead.
Bear in mind not all mobs con as white for even levels - prisoners for example con as -1. I can't think of any off of the top of my head which con as +1 however. -
Quote:You ain't kidding about long ago it was about I5 iirc and they listed AT threat order as well - in the absence of anything else - 'trollers had the highest threat, followed by defenders, scrappers were at the bottom of the list. However bear in mind this was at the time that the devs had still to find the document detailing how Threat really worked so they got a lot of it wrong. Oh the joys of trying to maintain complex code without proper documentation. There was a dev comment long ago when people were discussing threat modifiers that debuffs actually have a pretty high modifier. Like Radiation Infection is something like 80% of Fireball. Unfortunately I don't have specific numbers or a link to it, but I remember people were surprised the modifier was that high. That plus your AoE damage may have pulled the trick.
Plus, as a note, there is some "spawn AI" which can cause part of a spawn to go after anyone on a team if someone on a team generates aggro. Thats how that one guy in the spawn can come running around the corner to hit your invisible squishy (note that mobs don't use perception once they have aggro) who hasn't even seen the spawn yet after the scrapper runs in and triggers the spawn. I doubt this is the explanation for all three of them running at you, but its helpful to know.
Also by any chance did the scrapper have superspeed running - that has a -1 mag threat level -
It does rely on the guns overlooking it being the first to be taken out though - the other slopes would be much easier without the overhang at the top. The biggest problem I find is overjumping - that just needs more practice.
-
The only restriction is that the second T3 must be a different one from the same tree
e.g. in your screenshot you already have Cardiac Partial Core Revamp so you need to build any other Cardiac T3 except that one and then scroll down until you find the recipe with both coloured blue. -
A lot of brute players will auto a fast charging attack - frequently Brawl in order to build up Fury.
For me the only power that definitely gets autoed is Practice Brawler on my Scrapper.
There are other occasions I may put something on Auto - Taunt or Mez when targeting the AV or GM in a protracted fight - generally I prefer to hit the button instead even then.
If the team is low on -regen and damage then I may consider my heals on my Dark or Kin for the purpose of stacking the debuff provided I am not the main or only "healer" (the heal is of secondary importance in that situation) and against Ghost Widow I might consider ID on the "tank" if he is having trouble with her Mez - again those would be exceptions rather than the rule.
The only time I could see it being a useful practice to auto HA and on auto follow would be if the Emp is AFK - i.e. when dual boxing with no other players - at least then no one else will complain. If there were other players and they made a habit of doing so then they are likely to either quit the team or kick the empath after the first couple of preventable teamwipes. -
You could also try using the manhole in Pocket D

Quote:Thought it was a bit after - about I4 or maybe i5 but in any event its long since and I'm certain they were the same at I6.As far as I'm aware, the EU and NA client have been the same executable since the EU launch.
You could connect with the US client but you didn't have the option to select a language which there was on the EU one - its now set automatically according to the server. -
First mish can be a pain for a speeder as the ship sides are just too high for hurdle in general especially as they slope outwards - there are lower points though so it may take some time to get used to it. Final mish also has that problem for the AV fight. Temps work though so it can be worked round.
He does have a trick up his sleeve for that final fight as well. -

-EU servers come/move under the NA domain...this is how we will use only 1 client, right? The EU client goes away.
-EU server accounts can move to other servers, right? or will they just be able to create new accounts/characters on different servers?
- The NA client will add global payment options(USD, UK GBP and EU EUROS)?
I just find it hard to believe that NCSOFT is going to do all new software engineering to make this all work. I base this comment on the game. They reuse where ever they can. To do a true integration this will be a lot of work. I look forward to hearing about the techinical details.
Actually its probably the US client that would get dropped - I think that may actually have happened several years ago tbh - the EU one has multiple language capability and both can currently connect to either server farm by renaming it and maintaining a single product is much simpler.
EU and NA accounts will be able to play on, connect and transfer between all 15 servers
NA players will gain access to a German language server and a French language one - I expect the population of Vigilance getting a significant boost from Canadian players and given that it is probably the lowest population server of the 15 that has got to be good news.
The NA game client has nothing to do with account billing and the account servers are almost certainly the same code on both as things stand. When they need to perform maintenance on the account servers we lose the Store and annoyingly BM/WW but can continue to play - I suspect that BM/WW was probably put on the server it is on because both EU and NA account servers were co-located whilst the game servers were spread over 3 sites at the time.
The bad news is you are highly unlikely to hear anything about to technical details but in general merging datasets is a well understood process as long as the database structure is clear.
Its generally a straightforward process but does require a lot of dependency checking to avoid messing up the relationships - its usually best doing it one stage at a time testing after each - which is where it takes time. -
Are you seeing this in other applications?
Is there any difference if you change resolution or refresh rate?
My initial suspicion is it could be a hardware fault on your graphics card memory address lines or possibly the timings.
