  1. As a matter of fact, my play style does grealt reflect me in real life. I mostly like to solo for the most part, but when I get sociable I'll joiin TF/SF's or just get a group. When in a group, I tend to be a support type even when not playing a support AT. I'll key an eye out on tthings and help out othe rplayers when they get into touble. I tend to shy away from leadership roles, but I'll jump in and lead if I have to.
  2. There is a 5% change for a 5 second Build up every time it has a chance to fire. That means every time a click power (it's slotted in) is activated, or every 10 seconds for a toggle or auto power. The response to you was talking about averages over time.

    I wonder

I expect Going Rogue will have a metric ton of story, arcs and systems as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I don't expect it will be on the level of CoV, I agree with this statement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think GR will be on the level of Issue 6 in terms of content. 7+ new zones and story arcs to go along with em. The past, we've only gotten a dribble of new content. I want to see metric boatload of new content.
  4. Defense is actually quite simple. The server uses the highest applicable Defense value you have vs any particular attack. From your example, the 25% DEF value would apply to a Melee attack which does Smashing Damage. (25% DEF vs Smashing > 10% DEF vs Melee)

    Incarnates

    Thanks for the answers, all.
I've been eagerly awaiting this since I've heard about it. I hope it takes the form of some trial that I can take my main through. It would also be nice if Incarnates have some reasonable chances to solo AVs and giant monsters.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well-built ordinary toons can already solo AVs and some giant monsters.

I have a feeling the devs are never going to make them obviously overpowered. They've already said that the level cap will never be raised.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I also would not like to see the level cap raised. I am hoping that incarnates will be implemented as an alternate advancement system once we hit level fifty. That way I can continue to enjoy advancing my character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very few AT and Builds can solo an AV and it also takes a very skilled player as well. One mistake, and you are toast.

And the devs said that raising the level cap isn't in the cards. As Castle has posted about this in the past. They have many tricks up their collective sleeve to avoid raising the level cap, and yet provide advancement for level 50 characters. And BTW we are getting that in Going Rogue. It's a little tidbit that Positron let loose with in an interview.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Ocho8 doesnt say that but Posi does... I am skeptical about the full going rogue capacity, can you blame me?

If it was so easy, so remarkably easy to go rogue...why can't I just go have a drink at Pocket D with a hero and go back to their place for hero training?! Pocket D has a PC/RI junction!

Until Positron himself releases the exact details as to how I will switch and where I will logout I am not taking his word on a hint.

it is not so difficult for people to grasp that? I dont want a letter to the gamers saying this or that I want the official mechanic/function feature.

Until I see the exact mechanic log I wont be thrilled... Maybe we get an office in atlas, a redeemed villain support group On the left side of city hall?!

There is not enough info on anyones part to go all Keyboard-Axe...I just want 100% confirmation

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why so skeptical about Going Rogue? The feature is exactly and as simple as your think it is. The end result will be redeemed Villains running around Atlas Park, Steel Canyon, Mastermind running in the Statesman Task Force, fallen Tanker tanking the Hamidon in the Abyss during red-side Hamidon raids, a villainous lowbie Blaster talking to Kalinda and stealing Doc Quamtum's cape to gain the right to wear a cape in the Rouge Isles. All of that a more will happen.

Technically switching sides is simply changing a flag on the character. That's it. Change the the flag and a Defender goes from Hero to Villain. They've had that capacility since CoV went online in Issue 6. The problem is that coth Blue side and Red Side wasn't designed with side switching in mind. So there are (were) lots of things which might run into trouble with allowing Heroes and Villains to freely intermingle. All enocunter have to be reevaluated for balance with all ATs in mind. A level 43 fallen Hero just dinged and is training up. does he (and will he) get his APP power choice? Will the game client crash. What about respecs? The devs had to spend a lot of time looking at everything to make sure stuff won't break. The devs have been looking at balance issues with how Villain and Heroes teaming. Remeber all of the co-op holiday missions and now coop TFs/SFs.

And the biggest anchor on making it happening was resources to do all of that prep work. They never could do that with Cryptic still creating the game. Well now that it's all inhouse at NcSoft and NcSoft pouring more money and resoueces into it, that final anchor went away. So at some point in the near future there will me Broadcasts in AP "Level 4 MM LTF".

Edit: And to put my money where my mouth is, so to say, I've got a Dominator with side switching in mind when I created her. Sadly side switching didn't come about soon enough so that the Dominator got level 44 and that was after a character purge and re-roll. That character will remain unplayed until Going Rogue does finally come. And Natchdorn will be the first character of mine to make the swtich.

I did read about a new spacestation that appears over the earth as a new zone/set of zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps you're referring to the Gagarin Orbital Platform?

In addition to the in-game clues, Positron also mentioned it and the Armstrong Moon Base here on the forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No he's referring to the Orbital Space platform that appears mysteriously above the Earth. It's from that survey from August of last year.
  8. Grumble. I know I should have reread the history on Reischman again. I'm usually much better about retaining lore. I had forgotten the Axis Earth version of Freedom Phalanx ws called Amerika Korps. Buth that still doesn't invalid all of what I suggested.
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Another thing bothering me about this whole incident is WHERE THE HELL ARE THE COUNCIL!?

Why isn't Requiem getting super-ticked that Reichsman just showed up out of nowhere and absconded with his private army? All of his plans have been thrown into utter and complete disarray and he's done NOTHING!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

If the Council's current state roughly flows along a character's level, the Council as in the midst of a civil war amoung the various Council members. The details are in the Kheldian story arcs. Towards the end of the plot Requiem is even estranged from Arahkn. That might the the event that triggered Requiem into launching relaunching the 5th Column.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Hmm... wonder if Axis Amerika was created when Ubelmann succeeded?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. Axis American is what was in the game from Issue 1 until Issue 3 when the Council took over the 5th Column in the game (and in the lore). Excluding Striga every instance of being involved with the Council on the Hero side, it was orginally done with the 5th Column.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It probably wouldn't be called the a 5th Column, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why not? Parallel Earths, remember? The only things we know about Axis Earth is that the Axis powers won World War II. We don't know how long and when it actually happened. If WWII of our earth went the other way, it would have been years before the continental US finally would have fallen. The Axis Powers would have had to either deveop new long range bombers or gradually conquer Sourth and Central Americas in order to have staging areas in order to strike into the US. Fighting the US on US soil would have been incredible difficult.

If Marcus Cole of Axic Earth had his own elite unit as I and others have suggested, they could have been tasked with infiltrating the coutries the Axis Powers were fighthing and weaken them from within. Much like the 5th Column did on Primal Earth. The 5th Column with Resichsman in the lead would have been vitially important to weaken the US in order for it to fall. And extrapolating from the Axis Earth maps, it seems that the US didn't fall until very recently. They may be still some remaining US resistance fighters.

    [ QUOTE ]
Oh, and a better explanation as to why Reichsman's able to curb-stomp the team "out of the box."

The whole "siphoning power from Alternate Mark Coles" thing isn't doing it for me... Especially when he's curb-stomping players as soon as he's out of the box!

And get that Fifth Column emblem off his chest! He's Axis Amerika, not Fifth Column! They come to him, not the other way around!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I assumed he'd always had been draining other Reichmans (Reichmen?) for their power, which is why the Freedom Phalanx had to imprison him in stasis rather than actually defeat him and lock him up.

As for his loyalty to the 5th Column and the symbol on his chest. Maybe Axis Amerika have their own 5th Column? A sort of elite group within the standard troops. Like SAS or Navy Seals or whatever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That wa my attempt to expalin it back during beta. Reichsman's own elite unit and troops.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Now we just need a significant plot rewrite on the 'I serve the 5th Column' from the Reichsman and less bowing to Recluse and we'll actually have a coherent, proactive SF for villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The less bowing to Recluse was redone during the beta. Lord REcluse is much more respectful of you as much a domineering, overbearing, powerful, egotistical Overlord will be.
  14. It's a story. The characers are are powerful (or weak) as the writer requires them to be in order to tell the story. Character s in teh game can experience that as well. It's the AV->EB downgrading. You can face the Villain as a team and fight him as an Archvillain. Or face him solo or small team and face the villain as can Elite Boss. You are the writer, you choose how strong or week the Villain is.
  15. The important thing now for the Equip and Upgrade powers for MMs for all your you pets to be within 30 ft of the target and in line of sight of the target henchman.

Considering that they aren't currently powersets that can be proliferated, he may very well have been attempting to be funny.

Allow me to rephrase: There has been no Official Statement saying that yes, we will, in fact, be getting Dual Pistols and/or Demon Summoning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Positron dropping the 10 ton hints about Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols is all but official. One thing that peple need to be away of is that nowadays the devs don't say anything publicly about anything unless it's coming. To me it's not a matter of if we are getting Dual Demons and Pistol Summoning, it's a matter of when we are getting them.

Note for the humor impaired: Yes, I know. It's a joke.
  17. It's basic human psychology. The further was are away from a goal/reward the greater the anticipation of it. The closer you get to it the anticipation goes down. Toss in getting burned on playing a single character exclusively for long periods of time. E voila, exactly the situation you describe.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

Then my husband pointed out that there's a similar facility under Agincourt, so off I go, and sure enough, there are about a half-dozen forcefield holding cells, with CREY supervising them, and TOURISTS!

  19. [ QUOTE ]

on a side note, is there any benefit to slotting this proc more than once? I know they dont stack, and are suppressed. ie. could have one active period going when the others are in suppression?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They don't stack. But more IOs will give more chances more often for a PROC to fire.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Is the FF +rech proc global (will provide +rech for all powers), or is it only going to give +rech to the power in which it is slotted?

Please provide evidence of it either way. Exact proof is lacking on the wiki.

    Thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]

It gives a Global +RECH buff. It's not mark as a Global IO as it works like a Damage Proc IO. It only have a certain percent change of firing per target the slotted power hits..

I am kinda new. Returning from 3 year break. I played a DM/Regen scrapper then, but only to level 36 or so.

I am currently playing a Thugs/Pain Mastermind at threat level 25 right now, but have a few questions that I was wondering about.

    1. When I talk to a trainer I have the option for a primary and secondary buid. If I create a secondary build, can I still go back to the primary if I do not like it? Also, once I create one of the builds, is that locked in forever now, or is there a way to still change my build later?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Second builds are just that. It's a second/alternate build that you can switch between every 15 minutes. Each build is seperate and distinct. You can respec your second build just like any other. The wierd thing for the second build is the first you switching, you don't have a build. Yout are basically Secirty Level 0 and have what ever amoutn of XP you have. So you have to train up level by level to you current Combat Level. You never ever loose XP because of the seperate builds.

    [ QUOTE ]

    2. I have a mission that deals with stealing capes. At what level will I get to wear a cape? Is this mission required before hand, or can I Just skip this and still wear a cape later?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Steal capes mission is the CoV side mission to earn the ability to wear a cape. Like blue side, you have to be at least level 20 and complete the mission. It's unlocks capes for that character. You talk to you initail contact to get the mission.

    [ QUOTE ]

    3. If I use all SO enhancements, is this bad in some way? Should I be mixing the enhancements with SO, DO and regular training ones?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having just SO enhancers is in no way bad. The game is balanced around players being slotted with SOs. I have characters that make major use of SOs through most of their careers. There is the Invention Systems which allow you to get squeeze more enhancement total out of you slots, but it's which a whole other post in it's own.

    [ QUOTE ]

    4. I hear other MM talk about bodyguard, defense mode and aggressive mode for their pets, but I have no buttons on my hotbar to set my pets in these modes. How do I do this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First a mini-tutorial about hence. You set control 2 aspects of hechmen. First is their overall stance - Aggressive means they will attack anything that moves and is perceived as an enemy. Defense - means they will only attack is the hechman or you are attacked first. Lastly is Passive when hechmen will take asbolutely NO actions at all.

The second aspect is a command you can give to you hechmen. Follow me - means that the hechman will follow you and get no more than their leash distance from you. Once they hit their leash distance they will immediately begin to return to close proximity to you. Stay is similar to Follow Me - except their current location become the starting point of their leash distance instead of you current location. GOTO is similar to Stay except you set the leash stop with the targeting circles. Attack my Target - tell hechmen to attack your current selected target and to follow it to the end of the world.

Bodyguard mode is enabled when you are in Supremacy (i.e. within line of side and 80 ft of the hechman). You hechmen must be in Passive Stance - and they can have any comment except for "Attack My Target". When under Bodyguard, damage to YOU is shared between you and your hechman. You will take 2 parts of the damage and each hechmen in Bodyguard effect will take 1 part of the damage. Examples, 1 Hechman means 3 parts: 2 parts for your and 1 part for henchman. That is 2/3 damage for you and 1/3 damage for henchman. Two henchman means 4 parts: 2 parts for you and 1 part for each henchman, That is 2/4 damage for you and 1/4 damage for each hechman. 6 Henchman means 8 parts: 2 parts of for you and 1 part for each henchman. That is 2/8 damage for you and 1/8 damage for each henchman.

Yes you read the late sentance correctly. You get 75% damage reduction in full bodyguard mode with all 6 henchmen. However the Bodyguard damage is applied directly to you hechman bypassing any defence or damage resistance they have. And when you kick hechman into Bodyguard mode, they is a 10 second period where you hechman are passive. That's to prevent MM's from having absolution control and near immunity in PvP and PvE.

    5. I went to a tailor and was able to pay for a costume change. How often can I do this and is this different that the mission at level 20 I heard about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can goto a Tailor/Facemaker and edit a costume whenever you wish. What you are asking about are getting additional costume slots. AT levels 20, 30 and 40, you can do a mission for a certain Tailor Contact and unlock an additional costume slot. You can switch costumes between the slots with a 30 second cool down power. They is also an additional costume slot that can be unlocked with 4 pieces of Halloween Salvage which is turned into a certain contact. The 4 pirces are Hamidon Costume, Back Alley Brawler loves, Statesman Mask and Lord Recluse Helmet.

I love this. Please get upset when a booster is released with bugs. Please get upset when the booster is tested to prevent bugs being released.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah really.

In general to the thread: Testing is so that you don't have to buy something that doesn't work for a week or two people! Relax and wait for them to get it right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^^^^^^^^^^^ This.

There are (were?) several little things which added up to real annoyances. The biggest (for me) was slider values not being retained when you edit a costume. The Gender / Height / Body Sliders screen had all of the sliders set as if you are creating a new character. This is very important for lots of people as they spend a lot of time on sliders getting things just right.

Let them have time to get things right before it's published to Live. I REALLY, REALLY want this costume pack. But I'm focing myself to be patient.

    Must stop thinking about it....

    Invincible Reichsman?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yep, that's a bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does this mean it is a bug that it is so hard or a bug that someone actually defeated him?

    [/ QUOTE ]

the bug is that he's actually touchable. He's supposes to be utterly invincible.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If he's unaffected... can't you just turn on Phase Shift and attack him?

Wasn't that an addition a few issues ago?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doubtful. As I believe there more then just 2 phase states. Phase Shift and Intangible powers are all the same phase. But Arena fights start off in seperate phase state then Phase Shift. Reichsman probably uses yet another phase state which players are not supposed to be able to achieve.
  25. Vanguard are designed to be nasty to certain type of ATs which normally don't have difficulties. Vanguard Rangers will chew up melee types faster then they can say WTH? However ranged players or those with lots of controls they are a cakewalk. Eliminators and Sergeants can be nasty for those w/o DEF or Controls. The Bosses are just nasty especially with the accursed End Curse. The Sorcerers has a wide range of damage types. And the Bosses have nasty AoE attack which can decimate MM henchmen very quickly which is what you encounters. Yet my Tankers and Kheldians have handled them w/o much difficulty.
