Sounds like you should have it

What is your badge progress bar saying ?
    x/17

    what is x ?

Occasionally if you craft fast, the server can skip recognizing one.
"x" is "times" or "multiple" of that number. I use that at work a lot..hehe, sorry for the confusion. No, I did this the right way. Heck, I didn't have any problems until I hit this badge. I could try again like you said maybe the server didn't recognize some of my recipes, not sure? My last badge it shows is the Lt. Colonel Badge which comes right before the Colonel Badge.
  2. Been working towards my Field Crafter Badge and having trouble for some reason with this one. Based on what paragon wiki states for this: "Craft 8 level 25 and 8 level 30 Common Accuracy enhancements (Accuracy and To Hit Buff) plus one additional level 25 or level 30."

So, with that being said, I got 8 level 25 accuracies and 9 level 30 accuracies. I think I even picked up another 8 To Hit Buff's not sure why but anyways, I still didn't get this badge. Am I reading this wrong when it says "and" versus "or" which would mean that I would need x(8) level 25 accuracies + x(8) level 25 To Hit Buffs + x(8) level 30 accuracies + x(8) level 30 To Hit Buffs PLUS one additional of either one,....would that be the case? If not,..then still not sure why I didn't get this badge? Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Vanguard Lowbie

So last week I was gathering at the RWZ at the Vanguard Compound with my fellow teammates awaiting others for a TF when all of a sudden a level 2, yes that's right a level 2 Scrapper was inside the building running about begging for 50,000 in influence..lol. The question we were all asking ourselves was how in the heck did he get inside the RWZ being under the required level 35 to enter? Maybe it was just a glitch but it was funnier than hell to watch him jump around like his pants were on fire from one toon to another begging for influence...hehe. Anyone know how he might have got in?
  4. Having started to play the market with my level 50 Blaster, I have been working on getting my getting my Field Crafter Badge. As those you know when doing this, you are buying oodles of Recipes to craft those enhancements. Well, after doing this for about two plus hours, one can lose track of what they're doing..hehe. Maybe I was just getting sleepy or maybe it was just pure fatigue, but I forgot to set my slider back to 1 again before my next purchase and I ended up buying 7 Luck Charms for 75K apiece!...lol.

Now, If that darn slider just went back to "1" again, then I wouldn't have made that error. With all that being said, why not have it default back to "1" so you won't accidentally buy 7 or more of the same very expensive (depending of what you get) enhancement, recipe or other item? I know there are those of you who are saying I should have been more attentive. Yes, I know, but when you're doing this for long periods of time, someone is bound to mess up.

So, my suggestion is to have the item slider (default) back to "1"after you go to the next item. This will prevent an accidental "overbuying" that could have been prevented if it was set back to "1". How do you guys feel about this?
  5. This question has been on a my mind for awhile now that I have been playing the markets big time and slotting some great invention enhancement sets.

When a set is made to be +6 slotted to become a complete set for that particular power, and lets say you only have 5 slots available for that power, can you "carry" that extra 6th Invention enhancement over to another power that performs that same such as one AoE to another AoE power or maybe a PBAoE power to another PBAoE power for example?

I've never tried it so that's why I am trying to find out if it would work. Also, if you use one set for example lets say I +6 slot Thunderstrike in a shooting power for my Blaster, can I +6 another power with the same? I do know you cannot combine invented enhancements but was not sure about "reusing" the same again in another power? Which of course would probably tie into my first question about using the same invention enhancement.

So, in conclusion, lets say for example I have my Blaster set up this way:
+5 Slotted with Thunderstrike for her Power Bolt. (Assume 5 slots avail)
+1 Slotted with Thunderstrike for her Power Blast (Assume 6 slots avail)
+5 Slot with lets say Tempest for another Accuracy/Damage Power to fill the set or additional Thunderstrikes if possible.

As I was typing this, I may have answered my own question while reading paragon wiki, which states: "Only one of each of these types of enhancements may be slotted per power". So, I guess I can only use it for one power right? Can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks in advance to those who reply.
  6. So this weekend, I put my level 50 Blaster to work to earn some badges and enhancements from Wentworth's. Was doing the Crimson story arc which I went one on one with the big guy Kronos and happily defeated. The thing that I noticed while going against The Malta Group and being frozen by the Gunslingers and stunned by the Stun Grenades is I was still able to use two of my primary shooting powers, my Power Bolt and my Power Blast. All my other Powers were dead in the water.

This got me thinking, did the dev's set the game up so you can get at least get two "moderate" powers off so you are not completely defenseless when you are either held or stunned? Because if I couldn't use any powers I'd been screwed from the +3 Gunslinger who could chop away at me while I just sat there frozen solid. Being able to at least zap him a couple of times saved me big time from dying.

When reading the description of these powers, I cannot find anything that states it will fire even if you are immobilized or stunned. Does anyone else have anything that might shed some more light on this subject? Thanks.

I used to play this game while in college back in 2004-2005 on my roommates CoH account. Got back into it in Jan 09'. I am continuing to learn new things even at this stage. For example, I just started up another toon an Ice/Ice Blaster and after reading someone's suggestion on how to get more influence in the early stages via the markets, I have been playing the markets at Wentworth's early on to get the best enhancements for my low level toon.

The biggest/toughest thing for me was trying to get through those lower levels without enough influence to buy the best enhancements. To my surprise, it's working wonderfully. My level 12 Blaster now has over 500K to play with and THIS is why I keep playing this game. There is always new things to learn, new techniques to try and as others have said, go outside the box and try different contacts and/or different zones. As you can see from my signature below, I do have a few 50 toons. My first toon was my level 50 Blaster whom I was lucky enough to recreate her name again from 2004. Now, I am playing the market with her and learning so much and also kicking myself for not participating in the market sooner when I started back up in Jan. 09'.

If you also look at my signature below, you can see that I have tried various Alts as this is what makes the game so much fun. I thought that my Night Widow was the funnest toon I've played with until I started up my Stalker. Now, that was fun. I did try my hand at being a tanker but ended up converting my toon to a Controller which I also thought was fun.

So, you see. You need to develop your play style for this game and not compare it to other MMO's out there such as WoW or others that have a different leveling system. As it has been said in these posts, it's the journey not end goal that makes this game different and so much fun. Enjoy!
  8. Been noticing this weird phenomenon that when you get invited to a team and accept, the majority of names of your teams are not visible. In the spots that would normally show their names, it is empty. Now the really weird thing is when I logged in tonight with my level 10 toon, I got an blind invite while at Wentworth's. I really wasn't looking but I thought what the heck, I've got a few minutes to spare. To my amazement, my name was at the top, I had the star (even though I didn't start the team) and it also had my hero's name below mine that was on top. No one else's name on the team was visible but the slots were there as if there were other members on the team. The team chat was going on as normal but I just couldn't see their names.

My first thought was is there someone else with the exact same hero name that fell through the cracks and somehow was approved. I would think with a name like Zena Athena that would be unlikely but could be possible. The biggest thing that I am trying to figure out is why this "no name of group" thing is happening? The other night the same thing happened with my level 50 hero and after a few minutes, the other players names suddenly appeared.

I have checked the "known issues" on coh.com but it did not give me an answer for this issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

On my level 50 Blaster, I think I have two or three arc missions from long ago. Contacts are still there but I had no incentive to finish as I was either off on another tangent type adventure with teams, or just flat out-leveled them.

With that being said, if I did go back and finish them and there is a reward at the end such as merits, will I be punished with a lesser amount of merits or awards because I never finished that mission at that current level when I got it? I have also done the Ouroboros back in time missions which I know is helpful when missing certain arcs or missions that you either couldn't finish or you failed the mission for some reason.

So, in comparing the two, if you did do the Ouroboros "back in time" missions are you more likely to get "better" rewards versus doing an arc or mission from an "existing" contact that you still have and if you did their missions you would most likely earn zero influence as the foes would be too low. Also, in doing the Ouroboros back in time missions, you can earn influence as you would be doing those missions at the level you were at the time of the mission. Any additional feedback on this would also be helpful.

BINGO! I forgot that one. Just got that badge to do the TV Mishes,..thx.
  11. So, I got my Stalker to 50. It seems that I have dried up my contact list. The only contacts I currently have is Marcus Valerius in Cimerora and his revolving missions and the Warburg contact Operative Braun. I have been doing the Newspaper missions like crazy and then getting that Rob Bank mish with Wiggy the Brit. The only thing is after successfully completing the bank mish several times, Wiggy doesn't give me a new contact to meet. I didn't seem to run into this problem yet with my other level 50 Villains. I guess I could do Ouroboros Back in Time missions but would really like some new contacts. Any suggestions out there would be much appreciated.

If you can set up a SG just for yourself and your alts, you can use your alts as your sales force. Level them up to say 10, have your main Marketeers buy and craft stuff, store it in the SG, have your lowbie alts get it from SG storage, then sell it in the Market. It's a great way to get more transaction slots, though it can take some time to get it all working well. Plus you'll need some way to transfer Inf around, as your lowbies will be earning Inf by selling stuff but your buyer will need that Inf to buy new Recipes and Salvage. This sort of thing is much easier with 2 accounts. But even with a single account, you'll be able to have a lot of niches, and the Inf will roll in.
Hmmmm. Question on this one. How is it possible in transferring items via your SG base with your other Alts? If you set one Alt up in SG on same server how can you allow your other toons on the same server to transfer items to the SG base when the other toons need to be within the same SG? I ask this as I think you can only have one SG per toon so if this is not the case, how do you establish the "same" SG for your other toons on the same server?
  13. Well, I cannot believe it has taken me about ten months to finally realize that by "playing" and utilizing the markets, you can help yourself greatly in getting the best enhancements out there for your toon. It all happened when I came across a thread about someone wanting to install a bank to transfer influence from one toon to another. I read someone else's post that said they earned the majority of influence from buying and selling through the market.

That got me thinking, why in the heck was I never using the market to begin with? Maybe I was too lazy to even try or maybe I thought that everything was way overpriced to even be considered for purchased? So, with that being said, I dusted the cobwebs off my first Hero 50 Blaster, and put her to work this past Double XP weekend. Stopping off at Wentworth's I proceeded to sell some fine (rare) enhancements I had and couldn't believe how simple it was. Now I know how some users can amount tons of influence and we're talking Billions in influence just by playing the market. After a few hours my enhancements sold for what I was asking.

Not having worked in a complete strategy yet, I would view the current market for what the last five bids where for that item and maybe either match that bid or go higher when selling. Currently, I have 15 of my 16 slots full awaiting buyers. Some Salvage and some Enhancements. So, far, nothing has moved yet. I have checked the going rate and I am right in the ballpark for what I am asking. I do know that your open orders to sell will remain active unless you don't use that toon for 60 days.

So, in conclusion, what I need to know is this: I currently have 16 slots available to place items to bid on, how do I get more slots? Do I need to sell a certain amount before I get awarded more slots? Second, having just started playing the market, is having patients the best advice one could give? For example, I currently have 15 slots full and for the past two days, nothing has moved. I do know based on what I read in the "How to use the Markets Guide" that it is pretty much a random thing and eventually I will probably get the item sold. Keep in mind that I am not way overpriced in what I am asking, in fact, I try to base my prices on what that current item may have sold for. I do know that Billionaire influence' user out there will pay if they need that item as they can spend influence like Drunken Sailors.

One final note, there is this "rare" unknown type salvage that I read about. I believe its called "purples". I tried to check paragonwiki on this but couldn't find out what these items where. Does anyone have any idea what these items might be or is it always a complete random drop that no one knows what that purple might look like? I couldn't find the answer in the Market Guide. Any additional input for those that play the market a lot would be much appreciated.

Nope, I knew what I was saying, just forgot what that GM was called in the sewer. I know about Lusca and have battled that beast many a times when it was the popular thing, just like the Hami raids were. I called it a squid because of the tentacles (arms) but I didn't take that course in aquatic biology in college so I guess I failed that one...heh heh. And yes, on that crazy XP Bonus you got, I remember that would be the "in" thing then, I would see my XP bar zoom around like a little spin wheel and see the bars jump!,...to say it was a rush was an understatement. But, the glitch was fixed and all was forgotten, but it was fun .
  15. Question: I remember back in the day, 2004-2005'ish there used to be the giant monster (squid with tentacles) and you had to knock out each tentacle. There also was a huge bonus XP glitch that would give you tons of XP when he died which as I understand, they nerfed that out.

So, with that being said, I'm just perusing through these tunnels with my 50 and forgot where the sewer entrance was to get there? I think it was in Steel but not sure. I was going to go and just check it out, heck, maybe even take a few pics for nostalgia..lol. So any direction to get there would be helpful.

LOL!!!,..you know, I should have known better and yes, it was like playing Russian Roulette. I have dual accounts so inf transfers are no problem for me, but i'd hate to trust someone in this game to transfer, say, 400mil inf or better if i only had 1 account. Or a set of purples.
About five years ago while I was in college, I was using my roommates CoH account building up his toons. I had a system of asking people I usually played with to help me transfer influence over to another one of my lowbie toons. This all worked out very well until one time when I asked a random guy in Steel Canyon to help me transfer over 1 million in influence to my lowbie toon. I picked a neutral spot such as on the train depot platform and would already have my lowbie toon there to sign in right away. As I normally did, I would offer the person 5% to 10% for their troubles in having to stand there while we transfered the influence over. Most people though would do it for free.

So, after I transferred my 1 million influence to the level 10 I believe toon, he started to head out to the train as if he was leaving. I said "wait up" and and he wouldn't stop. I sent him a tell and he never responded. I noted his name as he ran off with my 1 million influence and reported him to CoH Support Staff. Needless to say, I never saw his toon name again so either his account was deleted or he deleted his toon, who knows? So, I can see how someone would get nervous over something like that. I can say it took me a couple of days to cool down when he ran off with my influence but I eventually got over it.

With all that being said, I myself have always suggested this as a good idea. Take a look at WoW. I know, CoX is not WoW but they have a mail box system that allows you to transfer your gold as they call it in WoW to your other characters in game. I know there are those that say this would spoil the true nature of what CoX is meant to be. If you gave all your lowbie toons influence then what incentive would they have to earn more? I would say plenty. Keep in mind that in the early stages, it's always tougher than dirt to make up for not having enough good enhancements to purchase until you can reach higher levels and earn more influence. I am sure the dev's could find a way to structure this in game so it couldn't be abused and would reward those who play the game. Also, this might just put an end to ALL those absurd junk emails we get from people wanting to sell us influence.
  18. This question has been on my mind since I started up my Stalker who just reached 50 . When entering some missions where your goal is to either take out a particular Boss, EB or AV, I sometimes got ambushed when I get close to the Boss. Case in point, when doing some mish'es in Cimerora, I will usually get ambushed by gladiators prior to enter the area where the Boss is.

So, with that being said, is there some kind of code within the game that says when you enter a zone that has a goal of "Defeating So and So" that you will normally get ambushed regardless if you are in Hidden mode or not? Keep in mind, I do nothing to provoke these ambushes but they can see me as if I stirred up a hornets nest. It really wasn't a problem as I could easily handle the rush of foes coming my way.

As my understanding on how "Hidden" works, you shouldn't be seen at all except by the Rikti Drones or maybe some very high level Bosses. I do know that in some mish'es to where you are to click on a "blinky" and then they run over to see who is there, I could stand right next to the blinky and they would not see me in Hidden mode. I have read somewhere that you "can" combine other stealth powers with "Hidden" to give you even greater invisibility. Not sure if this would effect the occasional ambush you get as I mentioned above?
  19. Quote:
Vet badges are for time payed, not time played. You don't get them for spending a certain number of hours playing the game, you get them for buying a certain number of months worth of playtime. If there were badges for the amount of time the player had actually spent in the game/on the character, those would be a lot more meaningful to me. Someone who's played their 50 Rad/Kin for 20 hours is still tainted by the AE. Someone who's played the same char for 200 hours can probably keep a whole team SBd and FSd while blasting away full bore.
Hmmmm, I was not aware of that. So vet badges are only for how long someone pays not play. So, with that being said, wouldn't it make sense to have some kind of badge to show how long you have actually been playing the game? Or, have an area within their bio's to view how long someone has actually been "in game" and "on line" to play the game. I would agree that this would be a much better barometer on gauging who you're playing with. Has anyone ever suggested this as an idea to devs?
  20. I brought this thread up awhile ago and thought I'd revisit it again as I wanted to get some more thoughts on this subject. Normally, when on a team, I will occasionally read other's info such as a description of their toon (if they have one) and to see how many badges they have be it veteran badges or other.

The first thing I look at is how long they have been playing CoX. Now I know there are people who either might have transferred their accounts to others or let others use their accounts and it would appear that the person playing might not be the real veteran playing and would only be a newb, but I think this only represents only a smaller group. The majority are the true users of their toons. By doing this, I can get a better feel of who I am teamed with. Yes, there are those that have been playing this game for a very short time but come across as pretty knowledgeable in the game and then there are those who have their 66 month badge and not too knowledgeable about stuff but again, I think the majority of veterans are pretty knowledgeable and know the game pretty well.

With that being said, how many of you will play different knowing you are teamed up with a 66 month vet versus a newb? If you knew a newb was forming a team and calling the shots versus a veteran player, would you be more likely to drop from team if the going gets rough? I'm just curious on this as I myself have had some thoughts about this and sometimes feel uncomfortable knowing that person running the show and getting everyone killed is a newb. But hey, that's just me.

Also, when it comes to describing your toon. I know that some go into great detail, such as myself, when putting a description about their toons. I think this can be fun, and give your toon more character to those who read their history. I actually have each of my toons all related as either immediate family or cousins so when you read their bios, you know who their other family members are. Each has their own unique story about how they got their powers and what makes them so special.

So, with that mentioned above, do we know if and when there will be a "fix" on making the description field longer so you can elaborate more on your toons history? I knew there was some kind of glitch that would "lump" all your info together, not sure if that has been fixed yet? I always thought that having more room in the description field to write about your toon would be ideal. Does anyone know if that has been suggested yet for new developments and ideas for the game? If not, I will need to suggest that. In closing thanks to all who replied and your thoughts on these subjects.
  21. I briefly read some of these forms that there is some kind of problem after i16 and the great lack of drops, be it salvage, enhancement or other kinds. I will have to agree, there is something amiss here. Playing three or four mission should fill my trays with an abundance of goodies and this does not seem to be the case now. Now, I am only getting two or three at the most in enhancements and maybe a few salvage and recipes. Not sure if this is a glitch within the new difficulty settings and something has skewed off the coding which doesn't allow the proper number of drops to happen, who knows?

If anyone has any "current" threads regarding this issue, and/or if we are aware if it's currently being worked on in the next patch, please let me know as this is getting silly. Thanks all!
  22. For those who are having this same problem this is the reply I just got via email from tech support:

"We are currently aware of an issue with the server you have reported and are working to correct it as quickly as possible. Please try to connect again in a few minutes or watch for news on updates and fixes at www.coh.com. If you find that you are unable to connect after a long period of time please let us know when the issue started and what error you are receiving."

So, it does appear they are aware of this and it is being worked on.

If you clicked control-alt-delete, it will eventually end the program but takes a bit longer to do so thus you shouldn't have to reboot or shut your computer down. As I mentioned above in my posting, I had this happen to me four times so far.

  25. As I write this on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 19th, 2009 it seems there is currently a problem on some missions where they will not load and I am forced to do a "control-alt-delete" to get out of the program. I did send a bug report and have yet to hear back. So far, this has happened to me on 4 missions in Grandville villain side. This problem has just started up. Is anyone else out there currently having this same problem?
