I found it. It was in the first tab right before my eyes..lol. I just must have missed it somehow,..maybe too sleepy when I activated my Toon..hehe.
-
Quote:Hmmmm, I do save my Option Settings and normally it does transfer over to new Toons but for some reason my new Tanker didn't like any of it..hehe. Yeah, I'll have to look and find that option. I am one person that likes to be prompted away from what I am doing. When I first started out about a year ago, I would always be in places I "didn't" want to be TP'ed away from as I normally visit the market in between long mish'es to unload inventory and stuff or I may have been trying to train and level up.If you save your options settings, new characters will inherit those settings automatically.
-
So last night, I just started to roll another new Toon. I normally go through the training as I kind of like the nostalgia of it all, having them show me what everything does, kind of funny really. Anyways, was I was prepping my Toon through the Options menu as I normally do, and for the life of me, I could not find the "Enable" TP Promt. You know the one that asks if you would like to be TP'ed away from wherever or whatever you are doing while in team play.
Back in the day I would normally forget to "Enable" this and I would be either at the Market buying and selling or someplace else important before I got my molecules ripped from my body..lol. The normal thinking would be to always have this set on default for "Enable" because I think most people want to give permission before they get zapped away through time and space.
With that being said, I went into the Options menu and searched and could not find this as an option anymore. Has it been removed and now the normal default is "Enable" for everyone or did I just miss it somewhere on the list? -
Quote:Thanks for that: I had no idea that they were so different. With that being said, I think I value the higher hit points versus the damage fury thing you mentioned. So, I may want to try my hand at a Tanker. Without getting too technical, what build do you think would be good to start with for a first time Tanker?:Tankers and Brutes are actually quite different, besides the fact that one is a hero and the other a villain.
A Tank has the highest hit points of any AT in the game, and they're the only AT with a defense primary. In practical terms while Tanks & Brutes share many of the same powersets a Tanker's armors are inherently 25% more effective by virtue of being PRIMARY sets instead of secondary. A Tank has damage as his secondary set, while a Brute had damage as his primary. As you'd expect a Brute deals more damage.
Brutes are actually much more comparable to a Scrapper, both AT's have a damage primary and a defense secondary. Scrappers have higher damage than Brutes, but a Brute has Fury... this is a mechanic where the longer a Brute is in combat the more damage he does. Think "Hulk Smash!" with the Brute, the madder he gets (more Fury generated) the more damage he does. Brutes & Scrappers have very similar defense numbers as well; both are roughly 75% as effective as Tankers. Both Brutes & Scrappers will easily outdamage a Tanker... by a considerable margin.
Team role frequently differs with Tanks & Brutes also... a Tanker primarily protects the "squishy" members of the team by attracting and holding the attention of all the enemies so that they all shoot at the Tanker instead of the rest of the team. That's the reason a Tank has the most hit points and the best defenses... he can survive things that turn most other AT's into a grease spot on the floor.
The Brute on the other hand is your basic melee fighter... he's capable of taking hits and protecting the team like a tanker but his primary purpose is simply to smash the enemy.
I hope this sheds a little light on the subject for you; and remember that for now if you choose to play a Hero you can't be a Brute, and if you choose to play a villain you can't be a Tank.
Welcome to the game, and enjoy your stay. You've 12 character slots per server available to you so by all means try out several different AT's and powersets.
Electric Armor
Fiery Aura
Ice Armor
Invulnerability
Shield Defense
Stone Armor
Willpower
Best Defenses Set? Best Offensive Set? Or do I need to eventually work my way through some of these to find out what works best with my play style? -
So I was thinking about either building a Tanker or Brute. The first thing I noticed was this:
Tanker:
Hit Points: High
Damage: Medium
Primary Powers: Defense
Secondary Powers: Melee
The Tanker can take it and dish it out all at once. The Tanker primarily can absorb vast amounts of damage, and hold his own in a fist fight. But the Tanker lacks any long range punch. The Tanker would prefer just to charge straight ahead anyway.
Brute:
Hit Points: High
Damage: High
Primary Power: Melee
Secondary Powers: Defense
Brutes live to fight, and as a Brute you revel in hand-to-hand combat. With strong offensive power sets to inflict pain and impressive defenses to take it, you're the best there is in a straight fight. Protracted battles only makes you mad, and the madder you get, the more damaging your attacks become. You do lack ranged attacks, which could leave you vulnerable to hit and run tactics without some allies to cover you.
Neither of these descriptions tells me much. Though one has Melee as the Primary and the other has Defense as the Primary.
Can we say these guys are the same but one has more damage potential? Forgive me in advance if I am reading this wrong but if one gives Medium Damage and the other gives High Damage,...hmmmm. Can someone help me make a better choice on this should I decide to build one of these guys? The bottom line is I want a toon that can flat out clobber it's foes, so pure unadulterated knock to the floor damage is what I need. -
I was doing a mish this afternoon and was in the room that has the 4 giant Lab Equipment. I've never really have given this much thought until today. Normally when in mish'es either solo or in teams, no one rarely destroys this equipment.
Now, I've done it and have got bad results and either my movements may have been slowed or something else. Sometimes though, you get good results like I did today when to my surprise got a bonus +35% to damage and strength. I had to scratch my eyes to make sure I was reading that right...lol. Another time in the past, I got a super speed boost to all attacks.
So, with that being said, is there a formula to knowing if you knock this lab equipment out it will either be good or bad results? My guess is no and it is a gamble on what effect it will have on you or maybe it depends which foes you are fighting, not sure? -

Quick question: Who do you see for contact to obtain the 5th costume slot? I currently did the Steel, IP and FF Tailor mish'es so not sure who the last contact will be to get final open slot? Thanks.

I'm glad my post has generated so much buzz.
I think the thing I sometimes also think about when venturing into Dark Astoria is the Playstation games I had called Silent Hill. I've played them all and I remember the guy at the video store said to me that I will be scared out of my pants if I turned all the lights off and played that game. He was right. The fact that you really can't see what's around the corner was the creepy part. So, maybe having a Giant Monster roaming about Dark Astoria might not be that bad after all.
-
Quote:Bingo! I sometimes use this strategy when the playing environment calls for it e.g. nice open areas where you can get up and out of foe ranged attacks. The nice thing about this attack style is the only direction things can go is down and thus you're just pounding the living crap out of the baddies into the ground which is always a good thing. Also, based on the description for Hover, I believe it will give you more defense and use up less endurance while being used. When at all possible use hover and shoot down. That turns knockback into knockdiown which everyone likes. Also you dont have to spam your high knockback attacks every time they are up. Use them wisely and stragetically.

Not related directly to Fulcrum Shift but for some reason I kind of liked the sound of those "Rings" we were given, I think it was from the Halloween Event. Every time I used those rings to put a hold on a foe, I knew what it was as it had its own unique "chime" sound.

I know, I know, there are you ole' vets out there who are probably rolling your eyes to this one. To be honest, there is still a lot in this game that I either don't pay attention to because it doesn't seem relevant to my playing style or I just haven't took the time to research it further and see what it means.
When I started this game back in Jan. 09', I was able to roll 9 toons (see signature below). During this time I have discovered the market and all it's glory, building up my Super Group base and working on some much needed badges that I procrastinated early on while building some of my toons. I never participate in Arenas or PvP type events. That was not my intention when getting this game. If I wanted to do more PvP then I would have listened to my office co-workers and got sucked in the wide world of WoW.
So vets, what does it mean when I see "Gladiator Unlocked"? Is this something related to PvP which I think it is? If so, it would mean something that has no other earthbound effects on what my toons does unless I participate in PvP type events.
I checked on paragonwiki and could find nothing on this. So, thus, I am posting here. Thanks -
I think one of the funnest parts of the game is in naming your Toons. As you can see, based on my signature below, I have a few toons with very different names. For example, my level 50 Controller Dark Braven, I originally wanted to call her Dark Raven,..and we all know that name is pretty much taken. So, I had to pull up Dictionary.com, spell certain words by removing the "R" in Raven and see what I could come up with. After further thought, I then said to myself, my toon will be Brave and have a Dark side to her. So, I just combined Brave with Raven and got Dark Braven. For my other toon Zambrosia, I orginally wanted to name her Ambrosia, which is greek for food of the gods. Nope, already taken. So, using my Braven technique, I just dropped the "A" and added a "Z" and got Zambrosia. Ta-Da!
I also use a lot of greek goddess names for reference in naming my toons. The easy part is all my toons are women and I always take careful consideration in wanting to give them the best name and to make it easy for anyone who has to type my name in to send me a tell. Fusion 7 was my first toon and I used a number with the name as the name Fusion was already taken. In my toons description, I said it would take all 7 nuclei to combine to form a powerful explosion for her wondrous Nova. So, I was able to tie the name to the toons personality and attributes.
For another one of my toons, I wanted a "cat" theme with her so I ended up calling her "Cattalina". Originally wanted to spell it as Catalina like the island off of California but it was taken so I just added another "t" to make it Cattalina. You know it sounds like Catalina, it has a "cat" reference to it and is still pronounced the same way. See how that works? My last toon I rolled, Fhenix, I wanted to call Phoenix, the bird that rises from the ashes,..you can see the fun in this I hope. Picking a name to fit your toons personality. Anyways, after several, and I mean about a good hours worth of time, after several attempts I finally came up with Fhenix for my Fire/Kin Controller. Easy to spell, and when you look at it, you know it will sound like "Phoenix". Problem solved.
Good character names are not running out, just peoples imaginations. As you can see from my post, with a little thought you too can make a name for yourself. -
So this past weekend, I was working on some Accolade Badges and came across this badge in paragonwiki called the Super Patriot Badge. Wiki couldn't give a description as it didn't have one and how to get this badge. It does say the Inherent Power is a +5 Max Endurance Increase. If that's the case, not sure how that would work with my Atlas Medallion Badge I already have which also gives a +5 Max Endurance Increase. Would I then have a +10 Endurance Increase if you add those two together?
Anyways, with that being said, does anyone know more info on the Super Patriot Badge? Such as how to get it. Thanks. -
Was doing a Ouroboro's back in time mish at level 45 and was at Wentworth's buying some stuff when I got booted to the log-in screen. "No big deal", I thought. I got DC'ed a million times before and just would re-log back-in.
For some reason, this was different. When I tried to log back in with my toon, I got to the section to pick your toon and then I preceded to click my toon to enter back to Wentworth's. A message box popped up and said "Your character "toon name" cannot log back in until they log out" or something close to that message. It then instantly booted me back to the log-in screen. I tried several times, waited a minute or so and I kept getting the same message. I even completely logged out to my PC's home screen, logged back in and the message was the same. So, I then tried logging in with another toon and had no problem whatsoever. After that, I signed back out to the log in screen and then tried to sign back on with my first toon that I was having trouble with and had no problem.
I bring this up as I've never had this happen to me before. It was almost like a glitch that had me stuck between Wentworth's and the log-in screen and it had me on a permanent "log out" and I could never log back in. I am going to put this one in the catagory of "one time rare glitches that happens now and then in your MMORPG type games".Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Got it! There is a nice area for these guys in Crey's Folly called Tangle Town. Most of them were spawning along the South wall.
-
Well, as I post this, I have only 30 more to go to get the badge. It seems they do spawn pretty good in some areas of Crey's Folly so I can knock this one out probably in less than 20 min or so. Thanks for help.
-
Currently working on my Conspiracy Theorist Badge and just need about 100 more Crey Paragon Protectors to get the Infiltrator Badge. Based on what paragonwiki says, they give a few zones on places to find them. Brickstown, FF, Crey's Folly, Eden, RWZ and Firebase Zulu. They also listed the neighborhoods within these zones. I've visited all those zones and it seems so far the best place I've found was in Crey's Folly. With that being said, the Paragon Protectors where far and few between to find even in Crey's Folly. Can anyone else give me a good zone or area that they might frequent or spawn more? Maybe Crey's is the best place, not sure? Thanks.

So, I wanted to tweak my level 50 Warshade build through a respec but keep running in the same problem. I want to maintain the current dominance of the Squid aka Dark Nova and my Rino (some call it a lobster, personally I think it looks more like a Rino) aka Black Dwarf and whatever powers are left to slot, to go to the human side.
The big bugaboo is having powers on my human side that I never will use but it seems I am somewhat "forced" into picking them as my other builds are maxed/slotted out. I thought about maybe giving my travel powers mainly to my human form as I have been using my squid mostly for flying around and rarely ever use my Rino's TP to get anywhere unless I am using him in battle and need to TP on top a platform or such. I think I currently got her with Super Speed as another travel power but everything else seems such a wash.
I guess I have to look and evaluate how my Warshade will be used. I know stealth is nice but not sure what works best with steath, maybe Super Speed as I would be hard to view while moving? The other thought that crossed my mind was what if I tried to make my Human Side the dominate side? Me thinks not so good as the tanking side would suck and she would lack the sheer damage potential of the Squid. Any additional thoughts on this would be great. -
Well last night after I got done running some mish'es with my level 41 fire/kin controller, I decided to work on some more badges for my level 50 engy/engy Blaster. I got teamed up with a couple of others in PI who were working on their Unveiler Badge were you need to kill 100 Fake Nemesis. After the team broke up, I was able to knock out this badge rather quickly as Fake Nemesis were spawning at a good rate in PI.
After I got it, I noticed a Master Illusionist floating near the middle of PI under a port roof next to a bunch of Carnies. I thought "hey, I got some time to kill so let's do it". I needed about 40'ish or more Illusionists, Phantasms, and Dark Servants. Being that my Master Illusionist was "gray" or lower in level than me, I was able to play with her like I was the cat and she was a small field mouse that got into the house. I kept her irritable and angry enough to get her to spawn the baddies. When she tried to fly away from me, I just "locked on" follow and she was screwed. The time frame between spawns varied. Sometimes it would be 5 minutes when she unleashed her group, sometimes it seemed longer.
So, needless to say I stayed at it for about a good hour when I was able to get down to 99 kills. As she ducked back under the port roof, a couple of other Heros came through her path. She got mad and clocked one and then in turn, he came back and proceeded to take her out. Keep in mind, I just needed 1 more kill for this much hard to get badge. I frantically typed to send a tell as fast as my fingers could and said to hold up as I only need one more kill for my badge. Her life bar was at a sliver but he backed off just in time. At that moment, another hero came by and was also ready to take a few punches at her and I had to tell him the same.
Needless to say, I finally got the badge and all was well with the world. This got me thinking on what you get if you accomplish all of your defeats. I think it is some kind of Nemesis Staff or another Staff of some kind. Can anyone else elaborate on this?

Quote:LOL!!!...it would be like a giant Shriners Convention, can you imagine what that would be like? Even if you had the best graphics card and processor that you could buy, it would still shut down. You might have to sneak into Pixar Animation Studios and steal one of their high powered computers and maybe, just maybe it would work..hehe.Now make those eight players Thugs Masterminds with all six pets and all doing Gang War at once. 7 x 8 + 6 x 8 + 10 x 8 + 8 = 192 entities for one team (counting the players too). And we're still not counting stuff like Shivans and vet pets.
Yeah... graphics would have the potential to just get little slow. Just a little bit. -
Quote:It would only replace the current self-rez powers that are there and not be for everyone. This big thing I liked about this one was the angel wings you see when rezing. Maybe just add that graphic as a "new" graphic to the current self-rez'es that are out there? When you say "Permanent Power", what do you mean? A crafted power via Invention Recipe & Salvage? Part of a Booster Pack?
Personally, I think it would be overpowered to give every character a self rez they can have all the time, especially one that rezzed one to full health as suggested. Certain ATs have self rezzes; others have Rez Other. There's a reason why this is a temp power - making it a permanent addition to all characters would reduce the usefulness of certain ATs, and cause certain powers to become "skippable" altogether. After all, why take Stygian Return, for example, when you have Renewal of Light?

A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking about this after I just purchased my Vanguard HVAS for 250 Merits & 5k of influence to help me in the "Rescue Baby New Year" mish. After clicking on "more info" on my HVAS, I was surprised to see he was an Elite Boss. Needless to say, we mopped up the whole mish very easily. My HVAS was like a big brother watching over me,..hehe. Also to my surprise, he lasted the whole mish, unlike the Werewolfs you get from Stephanie Pebbles in Striga which I think only last for about 4 or 5 minutes and cannot go up elevators or to different zones.
So, this is what I am suggesting. What not have it to where you can purchase certain pets for a certain amount of influence (not Vanguard Merits or Merits) but influence. For example, if I new I was going to go into a serious battle and needed some heavies to help me out I could "rent" certain pets to help me for either 1-3 mishes, or maybe for a short period to time before they vanish. It would probably look something like this:
(1) Vanguard HVAS: Cost to rent = $400,000 influence
Pet Timeline = 20 minutes of in game play or 4 mishes
whichever comes first.
(1) Werewolf: Cost to rent = $200,000 influence
Pet Timeline = 15 minutes of in game play or 3 mishes
whichever comes first.
(1) Arbiter Sands: Cost to Rent = $300,000 influence
Pet Timeline = 20 minutes of in game play or 3 mishes
whichever comes first.
You can kind of get the picture. You can even add how many hits points they can take, what their powers and any special attributes they may have. I would say the easier a pet dies, the cheaper they will be in influence. Thus, the HVAS is more expensive because he is harder to kill. The number "(1)" in front of them represents the number of pets you will be getting. So, lets say you're feeling greedy, you can buy a max number of 7 pets to help you in battle. Think about it, you and 7 HVAS's waltzing down the aisle to take out a Giant Monster or any touch AV who thinks they can walk on water,..hehe.
Yes, there are lots of ways you could tweak this, for example, lets say you wanted to start your own TF and you know you need about 8 so, maybe also have a "special" TF Pet purchase that will allow the pets to last the entire TF before they vaporize. Now if they die during the TF, you can still purchase another without being penalized. Now, ahem...I have not thought about how this would work on an 8 member team if everyone got 7 pets,...lol. It would be like a circus out there. Lets see 7 x 8 = 56. Yeah the graphics might get boggy so, something would have to be worked out on a cap level before this could happen.
Any other things you guys might think would work on this or any additional suggestions, please throw in your two cents, as I would like to hear them. -
So I know the Winter Event is slowly coming to a close this year. In doing so, I will miss the self-rez power that I picked-up called Renewal of Light. What I really loved about this power was the effects that happen. You rise up with angle wings, it blasts all nearby foes back and, I am not so sure it will plant an ice patch below you as I did this last night and got a giant ice patch after my rez. Not sure if one of my teammates thew that down just as I was rezing? Heck, if it was my teammates ice patch, why not add that in in addition to the knockback you get after rezing? I will also say make it give you "full" health instead of half of your hit points and endurance. That way you can go back into battle at full-bore. What do you guys think?

Quote:I've been a member since Jan 09'. About five months ago, I was reading one of these forums here and someone mentioned to utilize the markets early and often to gain much needed influence. The biggest bugaboo that I ran into early with my toons was never having enough influence to buy the right "more powerful" enhancements to max out my toons potential. It was always tough until around level 25 but the big mistake I was doing was always selling my recipes and enhancements at the regular vendor other than using Wentworths or the Black Market to sell my stuff. What's the one thing that you wish someone would have told you when you first started out? I have played other MMORPG's before so I have a little experience. What specifically about this game should I know?
Thanks in advance for your help.
So, about five months ago, I started diligently using the market religiously early and often and let me tell you,..IT WORKS! You will never go hungry again scrounging for influence. I had my one toon up to 100 million in influence by level 30. I was kicking myself in the pants not being smart enough to use the markets before. So, once again my advice to you young Skywalker,....USE THE MARKETS, WENTWORTHS & THE BLACK MARKET. YOU WILL NEVER GO HUNGRY AGAIN!
