  1. ... I think I still have a character 5-slotted for damage somewhere, in case they ever roll back ED.

    OLD SCHOOL.
  2. Here's your monocle! Don't poke your eye out with it.
  3. Two things:
    1) I estimated I had about 2 billion when I started. Upon closer examination, looks like I had maybe 3.5 billion.
    2) Destroying MY inf doesn't really help the situation, any more than me hoarding it does. I want to destroy other people's inf at least as fast as I destroy mine. (Converting their inf into my inf helps, one supposes.)
  4. *scuffs dirt with toe*

    Awww.
  5. Hedgefund: List a level 5 fly TO at 2 billion inf, pull it, lose the listing fee. That destroys 5%.

Do that 100 times, you should have about 10 million left.

If you have more than 2 billion, put in a bunch of bids on the same character for the same item (level 53 IO recipes work) for 2 billion each and the bids will stack. Cancel the bid and boom, you're down to 2 billion.

I'm trying to do this on OTHER people's money- or at least half other people's money.
  6. Basically you use cheap "set" IO's that have lousy set bonuses.

Why you would do this? Two acc/dam/rech set IO's are like one generic acc, one generic dam, and one generic rech IO... in two slots.

    Wrong answer, wrongboy!

You have to find something where the recipe is 55K or less, the salvage is under 100K, and the crafting cost is 450K, and the crafted item goes for 5 million or more.

That's 4 million profit each. You have close to 20 slots. Throw up ten, get ingredients for ten more, and THEN go farm.

I'm going to give you a number of hints:
    1) There were at least three different recipes like that last night.
    2) They were Level 50.
    3) They were Yellow.
    4) One was ranged, one was melee, and one was a heal.
  8. I bought something for 5,000,908 instead of 5,908 last week. At least mine was an uncommon!
  9. I don't bother blowing a niche unless you can sell it for more than about 3x what you paid for it. . . and unless you're selling for more than, like, 10 milliion.

Otherwise I'd be doing nothing but posting to the SAME thread. Instead of posting to DIFFERENT threads like I do now.
  10. OK, the way it works is that badguys get a multiplier for rank (lieuts hit more than minions) and level (+2s hit more than even-cons) but that multiplier lands AFTER Defense is subtracted.

    Let's say you're fighting something with a 1.5 multiplier. That's, like, a +3 lieutenant or something. I dunno.

No defense: 50% Base To Hit * 1.5 multiplier = 75% chance to hit.

    40% defense: (50% Base -40% Defense ) * 1.5 = 10% *1.5 = 15% final chance to hit.

    45% defense: (50% Base -45% Defense ) * 1.5 = 5% *1.5 = 7.5% final chance to hit.

    125% crazy 10-purple defense: (always at least 5%) * 1.5 = 7.5% final .

+5 and higher, I believe, get a To Hit modifier which adds to the 50% base (so works directly against your Defense.)

The real kickers are the cascading defense failure. Any axe, baseball bat, machine gun ... half the stuff in the game, seems like... tends to give a -7.5% Defense Debuff. Those can stack in a hurry. So you go from 45% Defense, getting hit (slightly more than) 5% of the time, to 37.5% getting hit 12.5% of the time to 30% getting hit 20% of the time to dead.

There are Defense Debuff Resistances in some sets. At one point they didn't work; now I think they do, but I haven't tested it myself.
  11. Usually, it only takes *one* person going for Field Crafter to produce results like that.

There may be some other reason for the shortages- Uncommons are [still?] crazy, and you can get field crafter without a single uncommon piece of salvage.

I blame AE farming, but I have nothing that even resembles proof.
  12. Just because you're level 50 doesn't mean you're good at math.
  13. +stealth in sprint is one of the two expensive things I recommend for EVERY blaster.

Maybe I should have rephrased it. I'd rather die than wait for Devices to do its work.

The way I see /Dev used -and I know you use it differently- is generally like this:

    [/ QUOTE ]

The way I see Empathy (and, for that matter, rad and thermal and almost every other defender set) used is generally "hammer on the heals like a madman". That doesn't mean that's how you should use the set, and doesn't mean the set is bad at what it does.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fair point. I still value Build Up roughly as much as the entire /Dev secondary. Add a good melee attack and it's no contest.
  15. Yes.

Transferring 100 million infamy to Triumph: 10 million burnt.
Transferring 100 million influence to Freedom: 10 million burnt.
Half of which gets paid by me, half of which gets paid by Nethergoat, basically.

If people do infinity-infinity (or similar) I don't burn any inf, but do provide a useful service.
  16. Well, getting FC destroys a minimum of 12 million inf in crafting costs... so that's a start. If you get the 45-50 badges, you'll burn another 40 million or so. We approve of this hobby.

So far I've been burning other people's inf almost exclusively, except for the prestige bit (I put in 240 million on that.) Buy for 6 million, list for 7.1, sell for 8... I burn 800K inf and make 1.2 million. I did relist something [5 million inf hit on that of my OWN money] once, I did screw up twice and lose 22 million of my own money, but mostly I'm breaking even or making a little bit.
  17. Basically -Rech is a multiplier on "how long you live". If you'd survive 20 seconds wtih no -Rech, with 50% -rech you survive 40 seconds. If you die in the alpha, you die anyway.

You can throw a medium purple in for tough fights and it'll stack with the Def to make you very tough for the first minute. (Which should get you through MOST fights...)

It is also very easy to get Shiver to stack with itself, if I remember, to produce "floored recharge" on damn near anything after about ten seconds.

Given the specifics: Shiver is tough to beat for mitigation. It really is.
  18. I've played a couple AE "Sewer teams"- basically you go through and hunt the heroes. They were kinda fun, for what they were. I didn't try 'em with a full team, though.

    io sets

Some useful info about IO's in my sig.
  20. For purples, at least, the diff between a medium and a small is SIGNIFICANT.
  21. I'm willing to try a currency exchange- like Smurphy ran for a while, only [initially] smaller scale. Influence for infamy, infamy for influence.

My home servers are Infinity, Victory, and Pinnacle. There will be an additional 10% fee if either side, or both, is off-home .

    1. Even numbers, please. 1,5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 -million inf exchanges. I don't want to do more than 200 million inf at a time until I get a feel for the business.

    2. Going from infamy to influence, 1 million -> 1 million. Or, off-home, 1.1 million -> 1 million.

    3. Influence to infamy, 1 million -> 800K. (off home, 1.1 million -> 800 K)

    4. You give me the money first, then I give you the money on the other side. Simple, avoids trouble.

    5. I reserve the right to change my exchange rates or to shut down altogether, if I run out of money on one side or the other. I will let you know current rates before the transaction.

    I'm @Boltcutter in game.

    Anyone interested?
  22. Dave: You clearly, as a retired guy, need a hobby.

I'm trying to burn 10 billion inf- not just spend 10 billion, remove it from the game. I'm at like 700 M after about a week. Wanna help me out?
  23. Maybe I should have rephrased it. I'd rather die than wait for Devices to do its work.

The way I see /Dev used -and I know you use it differently- is generally like this:
    Trip mine [4 seconds]
    Caltrops [1 second]
Wait for Recharge [5 seconds; may include a second Caltrops]
    Trip Mine [4 seconds]
    Pull With Fireball [1 second]
Wait Around Corner For Badguys To Arrive [5 seconds? I dunno]

... 20 seconds for one spawn. I could be on the next spawn by then.
  24. ... I don't know if 50% mitigation is going to be enough. If you do this, watch out for Combustion: it is a trap that will kill you.
