  2. I thought I'd finish it with a little bit of style.

Nobody will ever buy up all the luck charms again.
  3. Don't take that tone with me young lady. You know why.

... oh, man, that wasn't even MY father I was channeling there. It was Bill Cosby or someone.
  4. If they haven't started the scrapper yet, maybe they have time to make the money still.
  5. I know it's not your bug, Castle. You were just the last redname to report it.

Devil take the hindmost, and all that.
  6. Upon reading the OP, I think I owe warriorssorrow an apology. I'm so used to seeing "Prices are ridiculous and you f---ers are to blame" that I saw the second half of the sentence when it wasn't, in fact, there.

Sorry for misreading your post and responding in anger.

Prices ARE really high, whether you're buying or selling or both. Some of that has to be the last round of AE sploits, which created high level characters, created influence, but created no stuff for them to buy. It's a smaller version of that 2XP weekend with the "Welcome to Vanguard" exploit- they bought Wentworth's out to the walls. You couldn't get a level 31 Ruin Dam/End after that.

Some of it's the AE in general: you can't get respec recipes, purples, or PVP IO's from the AE so they're a lot more expensive than the things you CAN get. And you can get a lot of XP in a hurry without necessarily getting the stuff to match.

The cost of a respec recipe has gone from "slightly under 20 million inf" to "slightly under 80 million inf." Which says to me that 3/4 of the inf is being generated in the AE these days. The cost of a LoTG has not quadrupled, on the other hand. . . it's maybe 20% or 30% higher? I'm not sure.

I can hold my small, expensive housewarming parties for base builders. But that's not really going to make a big difference.

I like cranking the wentfee up to 12.5% on any transaction over a million inf, personally. ka-gouge!

4.5 bil and your crying about it.
only reason to cry would be if the build was a bust and purples made the toon a limpless tard. You seem to know how to use the market, just make more its still out there. Big case of I want everything handed to me.

I have a couple of toons with 0 purples and feel they are where I want them.

... is it too late to change my answer?
  8. Ooh! I'm late to the party! And Castle's inbox is full!

It does sound like you've got two bugs- because I don't think my reproduction steps will trigger your bug. I repro'd this 3 times in a row, on two different machines- one with Vista, one with XP.

    1. Log in (standing in front of Went representative; I never moved. )
    2. Click on Went representative to bring up window; click on salvage.
    3. Type "kinetic", click on kinetic weapon, buy for 22908
    4. Collect kinetic weapon.
    5. Erase "kinetic", type "demonic", click on demonic threat report, buy for 22908. [I used a demonic blood sample once and it still worked.]
    6. collect demonic item.
    7. open salvage window, drag demonic item to the Went-rep window. Type "1" for number to sell, if needed. [I had 2 Demonic Threats, 1 Demonic Blood so this didn't always come up.] Sell for 1.
    8. collect money.
    9. Repeat 7 & 8 with the Kinetic Weapon.
    10. Log out: menu/quit/quit to login screen.
    11. Click on "password" field and input first character. Admire the 4-8 extra *'s in the field.

I use "enter" to terminate my password, my bids, my sell prices and my select amounts; everything else I seem to use the mouse for.

I haven't tried to trim this down to the minimum possible number of actions that will reproduce the bug.
  9. "Look at this note. Five exclamation marks: the sure sign of an insane mind."
    -T. Pratchett, Maskerade

I don't have a single character with all three of the "must have" [sic] IO's, and I don't have a single character with ANY purples slotted. The biggest investment I ever made was to put together an AV-soloing stalker and it probably cost me under 500 million.

... what I'm trying to say here, I guess, is that I'm not sure you needed to build the character you did build. What were you trying to accomplish and how?

Some people have assumed that you wanted the shiny because it was so very shiny. If that's true, you don't have a lot of legs to stand on when you complain about price. But I don't know if that's true.

... you could use the team window with the buffs showing, I suppose.

Or you could be OCD like me and keep a kitchen timer on your desk.
  11. That's not a challenge... that's an ad for Force Fields.

Seriously, that's a stupidly hard thing to do on a Kinetic and I applaud you for it.

    Excuse the double post...

As a defender, especially ff/dark you won't be needing that max end bonus much. Nor be needing that miracle unqiue at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wondered what you meant here? Your build didn't include Dark Consumption.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vigilance. FF doesn't get quite as much out of it as some, but it's still an across-the-board bonus to endurance.

Personally, I end up with a ton of endurance reduction in every power almost by accident if I'm trying for any sort of set bonuses at all.

    No one loves me!

For the first 5 levels, I find it's just as fast to streetsweep your way to the damn missions and back as it is to sit around looking for a sewer team, forming a sewer team, etc.

    It's about 45 minutes to level 5.

In the general case: Yeah, it's kinda hard in the low levels for a defender. I hate to recommend it, but politely spamming 3 or 4 people who are about your level and on teams might work. "Does your team have any use for a level xx sonic defender? 40% off incoming damage" or similar. (do you have the big bubble yet? )

The key parts to an attempted self-invite:
    1) Don't do it to too many people. I set the bar at 4, myself.
    2) Make it about them. Do they have a use for you? If not, no prob.
    3) Give them a clear, specific reason why they might want you.
    4) Keep it short.
  14. ... Crushing Impact is all pool A.

This has been your pointless pedantry for the morning.
  15. I'm guessing the "unenhanced" would be with a little Shivan friend or two. That would solve a lot of your damage and accuracy problems, and as mentioned Dark has regen debuffs. If they're not hitting (Which Dark has, in overkill), and they're not regenerating, it's just a matter of time.

It might be a LOT of time, because I suspect that with no enhancments you're going to be severely endurance-limited, but it's probably doable.
  16. Little_Missy: I'm going to have a pedantic moment here.

When people say "Nuke" in this game, generally they mean Inferno, Nova, Thunderous Blast, or some other Tier 9 power that does tremendous damage and drains your endurance.
  17. I'm curious to see what the new new patch (today's) fixed.
  18. Only got "20+" badguys twice after issue 5 landed.

Once, I had two tanks herding Banished Pantheon, because I wanted to see how many people you could really kill with Blizzard since it [sort of] breaks the AOE limit. The answer was 25, but they were somewhat resistant. . .

The other time, it was one of those situations where a double or triple spawn aggroed. BU/Aim[turn left]/Fireball/Firebreath [jump right]/Inferno.

    Explosion! Turn to the left!
    Explosion! Turn to the right!
    OOOooooooh... explosion!
We are the goon squad and we're coming to town. . .
  19. Post-avatar-sig combo: I'm thinking someone's obsessed with the junk.

Edited to add something close to on-topic...

I'm asking am I the only person who feels this way about how regular content, TF's, raids and so on appear to be a dying "art?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I grabbed six strangers and ran a Manticore earlier this week. It went like a steamroller with three Speed Boosts. (we ended up with three Kinetics.) I didn't go on the last Rikti raid I heard advertised, but there was a bunch of raucous, happy people afterwards. Maybe the problem isn't with "TF's, raids and so on"... maybe the problem is Hami.
  20. The server status page is... unreliable.
  21. Kendo: You ARE asking for alternatives to make the firetank stronger. You're asking for +Res to be added to the game.

You're also saying that "Game balance is easy" when, if there's anything we have learned from the AE farming problem, 100 thousand players will find things that 15 devs miss.

I also like the way that, in the name of game balance, you generously offered to nerf all the DEF-based characters so you can get what you want.

One last point: there is no "middle ground", kendo. When you have a game system that rewards the last 5% of Defense as highly as the first 40%, or the last 10% of Res as highly as the first 80%, the middle ground is no man's land.

What you would see is someone capping either Def or Res, then building up the other as high as possible- -probably only against specific types of attacks.

Katana/Dark scrappers can do this, with appallingly good survivability, but they pay their entire END bar for it.
  22. 35-39 is generally considered the best, financially.

(And now that they've weighted the rolls, 12 buys is generally a lot better than one Luck of the Gambler, financially.)
  23. For announcements... I like binding something to P. Like
/bind p say "Time for Stupid Blaster Tricks!"
... "Burning a hole in the map!"
    ... "Attention Seeking Behavior!"
    ... "Grabbing a solo!"

I got a million of 'em.

Shred: While you are, objectively, losing damage in many situations... that's like saying that NASCAR is a waste of gas. It's not the POINT. Filling my screen with big orange numbers makes me happy. (My favorite is a Fire/Elec, so I get powersink and, really, that means my downtime is 'eat a blue, powersink a survivor, get back to shooting.')
  24. If you like the storytelling in the arcs, there are some very good arcs in the AE. (Believe it or don't... there's more to it than level 54 boss farms.)

If you're looking for people to play with, you can try the global channels.

If you're looking for the same feeling you had when the game was new to you... you can't step in the same river twice. It's not the same river and you're not the same man.

Whatever you do, here or elsewhere, have fun.
  25. Mid's is pretty good. You can check it if you like with Red Tomax or you can just type something like [speed boost] in the game.

On to the general topic: It's very easy to get 5% or 10% global recharge with IO sets, and you don't need to wait till level 50 either. (It gets very expensive if you want more than about 15%, but the first few bonuses are cheap.) You can slot five level 30 or 31 Crushing Impacts in a melee attack and have full damage, good accuracy, and good endurance & recharge, for instance. Doctored Wounds also gives you a recharge bonus for slotting five, although you might lose a few percent off "Full heal" . You should be able to get five of each of those for, I haven't checked prices lately, maybe six million? Buy recipes, not crafted IO's.
