Vestulance: Welcome to the forums. Welcome, specifically, to the market forum.
Having said that, I'd like to discuss these paragraphs:
Quote:Fail on an epic scale? Really?Look, real simple with all the changes, all the complaining at each other yadda yadda aint the issue. Trying to make this game more attractive to new players and old should be the devs first thing to look at. Maybe making some things more attainable would be good. As far as i say i been on both sides of the coin ..gameplay and well tf over and over..ae too, we are all guilty there. We all are screaming for new content for such drops.
but ya got a system now that fails on a epic scale.
The core "Bread and circuses" SO's are far more affordable than they've ever been. People used to repeat the Katie Hannon Task Force because you could get ten SO's from the first mission. Ten SO's were precious at level 30... buying them at a store costs (I believe) 300,000 inf.
Which is roughly "thirty midrange common salvage" if you sell at Wents for 1 inf each.
I don't miss the days when people PUT THEMSELVES INTO DEBT ON PURPOSE TO EARN MORE INF SO THEY COULD HAVE GREEN SO's. I don't miss running to five stores to sell ten enhancements so I could maximize my return.(Did you know that a Magic SO sells for 60% of buy value to a magic store, but only 40% to any other store?) I don't miss accidentally buying five of the wrong SO, selling them back, buying three of what I wanted and being TOO BROKE to buy the other two. Have you ever had an empty slot that you couldn't afford to fill? Have you ever bought DO's because that was what you could afford? I have.
And in the same game, at the same time, a level 42 character had literally more influence than they could ever spend. -
My energy blaster rule is... if I knock it back, I kill it. Yeah, I run a lot of singletarget attacks.
-
I have four FF defenders.
They've become steadily less and less useful above, say, level 33. About all they provide that you can't get from (ice/dark/IO's/two guys with Maneuvers) is passive mez protection.
While the entire game shouldn't be based around "my favorite guys are still worth spitting on", you should wonder why ANYONE would group if EVERY character can solo with no gaping holes in their performance.
There's clearly and stupidly too much KB in the late game, but I don't know if you can argue that there's too much mez. -
What does a Force Field defender bring to the team?
Softcapped defense? Pfft. EVERYONE has that.
Passive Mez Protection? I want my own, thanks.
... knockback? Yeah. Knockback. -
I got to about the end of the first post and started going RAR. RAAAAARRR.
RAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! -
Someone's figures were that at level 50, S/L was about 1/3 of incoming damage. That was a sheer damage breakdown- so if you got hit by a Rikti blast that was 200 smashing and 200 energy, it would count as half of each.
From a Defense perspective, smashing counts against that attack. (There are some exceptions- Fireball does fire and lethal but is only defended against by fire- but generally you get "Best type" defense.)
It has been my experience that the most common big hitter attacks seem to all have a smashing or lethal component.
My Blaster/Defense experience is pretty much limited to an issue 10 or 11 Blaster with strong S/L/E/N defense. It worked for what I wanted it to do: allow me to (usually) live long enough to commit massive destruction solo, and allow me to pull my weight, plus, in a group.
I didn't build any of my other blasters for defense (typed or otherwise). -
Please post new problem, I'm too late to be useful on the last one.
-
People tend to assume things that seem too good to be true, are.
I had a prestige-matching offer for a while (if you wanted to turn inf into prestige for your SG, I would match it 1 for 1) and some people got a little bit hostile for a while. Twas no big deal to me. -
Try setting the "For Sale and Bidding" field to "All".
You can bid on something even if there are none currently for sale and nobody's bidding on it... but if you go with default settings, you may not ever realize that. -
I recolored all my Sonic stuff to pale grey, cause I'm lame like that. The ally shields, once cast, still show up as the original orange.
As far as the random porters... Orenbega has always been like that H-side. I sort of assumed that it was an homage going back (at least) to early-1980's D&D dungeons, the kind the party had to map out by hand, where random teleporters made your life harder. Works pretty well in Oranbega too! -
I learned it about a year in and was very excited. I didn't have to buy all new damage SO's at level 27! I could delay 1/3 until level 28, by making them ++ !
Ah, the good old days when we were poor. And we hated it. -
Quote:... this.
Defense buffs are fairly common in this game, whereas resistance buffs are rare
Last SG team was going to go all-AE, so we went for what we thought would make a tough team when we ran into the inevitable "Oh, someone thought it would be fun to make a slaughterfest" missions.
My wife and I built two sword/shield scrappers to go on point. Looked like fun.
There's an ice defender.
There's a Dark defender.
... on the plus side, we have no real fear of Build Up. -
Scrappers solo AV's because it's hard for them.
Controllers, I hear, solo AV's because it's easy for them. -
-
I tested the stacking on sonic blasts a while back (someone else tested it and I went "Trust but verify" ) and you can stack debuffs from the exact same blast, from the same blaster.
-
Does anyone else find the new forums' "ignore" feature much less convenient than the old one?
To the OP: It's a little ebil but not much. I've seen items with 200 bids, last 5 prices in the millions, and no bids over 50K. Someone thinks it's worth it to try. -
If you look under the name "Blood brother", it will tell you what group they are a part of.
So it'll say
Code:Also, the gangs wear characteristic colors. Red/black, with goat/pentagrams, is Hellions. White/black with skulls... is skulls.Blood Brother <Hellions>

While there ARE dumb questions, this is just a "new kid" question. I still remember discovering that there was an in and an out door to the train, and I"d been trying to go in the out door. For quite some time.
-
There are three ways that I can think of:
1) Supergroup storage- put it into storage with one guy and take it out with another. If you're in someone else' SG make sure you have privileges to take stuff out. If you're making your own SG you'll need to invite someone else to invite your alts.
2) Trust a stranger- this is surprisingly effective and safe. I don't know how much people get ripped off, but I've had someone I never saw before drop eight Hami-os on me and come back with another character to get them.
3) Sell them to yourself. This only works for things that are in low demand, unless you have a LOT of inf and don't mind losing 10% . But for, say, a level 24 SO you can probably put it up for sale for 6,326 or something, and buy it with another character. Wents keeps 10% and the other character gets 90%.
EDIT: I'm too slow. Dammit! -
Your competitors COULD have been using RMT. Or they could have one or two guys who are market-smart.
Pardon me while I sound like a big jerk:
I made, in six weeks, something like seven billion influence- mostly buy/craft/resell- starting with two billion. One person, one account.
I was not actually in the market for profit; I was attempting to remove 10 billion inf from the game. 10% fees, turning into prestige (matching other people's donations), and (small amounts) getting crafting badges.
Presumably if I'd been TRYING to make money, instead of trying to burn it in large quantities, I'd have made more than that.
An additional point: During the last double XP I sold over a hundred pieces of common salvage for over 900K each. I went out to the AE and got 120 pieces heroside and 120 pieces villainside and put em up for sale to see who was in that much of a hurry. "Lots of people", it turns out.
If you gave me twenty people and a month, I'd have a lot more than fifty billion, I can tell you that. (Especially if they were willing to PLAY as well.) And no Real Money would be harmed in the making of it. -
I wish you the best of luck. I've heard stories of people getting their monies back before. . . but I have no idea what the percentages are.
-
... unless of course you're talking about the 1-43 game... but who plays that any more? Really?
-
So who are the three smartalecks with Luck Charms listed for 1,999,999,999 ?
Go on, you can tell Uncle Fulmens. -
Quote:Peripherally, here are a couple of ways get off "Ground zero" (get your first million or whatever.) I'm going to start with some FAQ's:
The reason for this post is not for myself, but for those who are new to the game who don't have a 50 to farm infamy/influence with. Instead, they have to scrape and scrouge currency to be able to post something. If they made this mistake, they'd be back to ground zero with nothing to show for it.
Q1. Doesn't this rip off other players?
A1. Not really; other players are volunteering to sell you stuff cheap. Maybe they want sales badges, maybe they want crafting badges, maybe they're donating to strangers because it's a relatively small amount of inf for them. If I'm buying stuff for myself, I am actually an overpaying customer, because I've made enough money from other people overpaying that I can afford it. Likewise, if I'm selling salvage I probably won't see the difference between selling for 1 inf and 10,000 inf. I make my money other ways.
Q2. Why are you giving away your secrets? How can this work? Why isn't everyone doing this?
A2. There's an enormous amount of "free cash" in the system- billions and trillions of inf; a million or two is a lot to a starting player, but a level 50 can earn that by accident while helping a friend out.
Getting back to "your first million":
You can buy unpopular recipes very cheaply at Wentworth's, or buy high level SO's, and run them back and forth to a nearby store. If you're buying level 43 yellow Confuse recipes, for instance, they sell to the store for 4300 inf each and you can generally pick them up for 500 or less each. Profit to you: 3800 inf per recipe. If you hold 10, that's 38,000 inf per run. If you can do a run in 2 minutes (say in Kings where the vendor is Right There) that's 380,000 inf in 20 minutes, or over a million an hour.
If you do this for an entire hour, you will get bored out of your mind. But it can get you enough inf for your first set of SO's and you'll never be poor again.
You can also usually find some uncommon salvage that's selling for 100K apiece, grab some tickets quick, make one or two and sell them. Boom, there's your starting money.
