Is it possible to speed up the combineing process? It is really frustrating when u gotta re-enhance in a hurry, and ur team is waiting on u and it takes forever. My suggestion would be to speed it up or eliminate it completely.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please be more specific about what you are suggesting.
I am going to guess that you are referring to the enhancement slotting process. If that is correct then my response an unequivocal no.
The only delay that lies in the slotting process is purely the fault of the player doing the slotting. For example, I play both heroes and villains. and at level 7 I start slotting basic IO's.
Invention enhancements DO NOT combine, slotting takes seconds. Everything is one drop shopping.
If you CHOOSE to use training enhancements, DO's, or SO's then that's the price you pay. You knew those enhancements were temporary when you bought them. You have no one to blame but yourself when you have to replace them.
Welcome to the forums, and please keep those ideas coming -

Veteran badges = past time on the account.
Anniversary badges = existing and being active (or at least logging on) during an actual time.
They're two different things, and frankly, no, I don't want the anniversary badges on my characters that weren't around for that anniversary.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I do understand Bill's point of view, I wouldn't object to seeing anniversary badges made account wide.
Of course I have to admit it's because I want the 5th column gladiator. Since my desire is purely selfish I can't support the OP's suggestion. -

Vehicles as travel powers. This gets brought up a lot.
First, a tip on searching.
1. Click on "Search" up at the top of the forum.
2. On the left, under "Forum(s) to search," select "Suggestions and ideas."
3. On the right, Keyword Search Terms. This is probably where your problem was if you did search. Try the following, exactly as typed:
+vehicle -"re: "
This will search for anything with the string "vehicle" in the title. The -re: portion of it removes replies, so you'll see the root of every thread that comes up, letting you see just how many threads there are on this. (The last helps for other subjects, as well.)
Be sure to put the space between the colon and last quote.
4. Click the "In subject" radio button. This is a search, not a cute blonde in a bikini. Here, you probably want to ignore the body.
5. Leave Username Search blank.
6. Date range, Newer Than, change the 1 to a 3, and the time to Months.
7. Result format doesn't matter. Click on "Submit."
Now, on to the topic at hand....
Short answer, don't expect it.
Long answer:
There are a lot of problems with the idea.
1. Movement.
Forward and back, even turning - ok. But you can do things that a vehicle can't - such as strafe (direct side to side or angular movement.) It doesn't work with a vehicle.
2. Terrain.
Not every place has roads, or even makes sense for "off roading." Go look at Founder's Falls. Go look at Crey's Folley. Or Eden. Try to get to the north islands in Talos. What, do you have a kubelwagen? Look at the Pit in Sharkshead. Try to use your travel power (car) to get up to some of the doorways in high caves. Cars and motorcycles would be more like Superspeed - horizontal movement, period. And look - I'll be blunt - flat out *stupid* tied with, say, Combat Jumping or Superjump.
3. Combat.
You get ambushed on the way. How do you fight? Just have your powers blast out of the rolled up windows? How do you buff or debuff? EVERY power would need a new animation. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Then you want people with motorcycles instead of cars. Redo ALL the animations AGAIN. And they still wouldn't make sense - how do you use Footstomp in a car? Or Stalagmites?
4. Customizing.
Yeah, it would come up. Not everyone would want a sports car, or a mid-70s Buick boat, or an exotic, or a minivan, or whatever else.
5. Making "sense."
This was touched on in terrain - how do you get across water? How about the Shadow Shard? And if you want downright ridiculous looking, go do the heroside 25-34 Respec. Look at the Sky Skiffs inside of rooms or the reactor room. It makes no sense and looks *ridiculous.* Something that, yes, the devs try to avoid.
6. Powers
For every vehicle - from rollerskates on up - every power has to be reanimated to some extent. Just think of the amount of time that would take up.
That's just a quick overview of why vehicles are a bit more difficult of idea for a travel power.

I have to say this is not something that I could see being constructive in any way whatsoever.
If you actually do an arc, then there is a in game feedback system to deal with your thought that goes directly to the author.
I really don't see what constructive purpose coming to the forum and critque griefing them does. I think it may also be against forum rules. Let see what Mod08 thinks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hi Darth,
I can only speak for myself, but I will be missing most of the online comments because I actively edit my chatbox channels to minimize the tells I get to only certain characters.
So the only places I'll be getting feedback is from my friends or if I see something mentioned on the forums.
I also think that if we make an effort, we can give positive and negative feedback without resorting to being nasty.
I know that sounds funny coming from me. I admit I can be opinionated and I've posted things without thinking how they will sound to other people, but I honestly can't see myself cruelly tearing into someone because I don't like their stories. -
I don't care what method they finally decide on, but I won't be getting many critique tells because I actively remove private messages from my chatboxes on many of my characters to avoid annoying tells.

Seems simple enough to me...
You allow players to use the D for cross-faction Teaming from level 1. Do you have any idea how much I'd LOVE to do that? Grind MA Arcs 'til I hit 35, then hit Cimerora or the RWZ... Yeah. That sounds like a heckuva lotts fun!
Is it against the design document to have cross-faction teaming under 35?

YES!
But make the room it's in a no powers zone to prevent people from clustering with active powers on and lagging everyone out.
oh and yes to putting them in bases as well. A tech and arcane version so SG's can make danger rooms. -

Well then I'd like to apologise to Mod08 for the unintentionlal slander I just made.

Sorry. didn't mean to imply you weren't.
What I find funny about the one word response ban is that they don't consider one word agreement as unconstructive.
/signed isn't contributing anything to a suggestion either. Gotta love hypocrisy. But then again, it is their forum so they do get to make the rules. -

(1) Refrain from using OTHER MMOs as a source of reference.
[/ QUOTE ] Actually using other successful MMOs as a source of reference is perfectly fine. I don't believe it should be somebody's core argument, because each game is different. But looking at the competition(especially the more successful ones) and what they do is a good idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I agree with your logic, but a lot of times, (Not only with this suggestion) there are people who try to use "but other games do it" as justification for their point of view.
I think what AP wants is more thought expressed than just because.
The same requirement can be applied to the counter argument "The RMTers". Using them as a counter argument is fine, but at least explain why it's being used as a negative.
If they explain they way they think RMTers can abuse an idea, we can try to figure out countermeasers to minimize the problem they pose. Or someone can point out something they may have overlooked.
Yeah I know wishful thinking. -

[/ QUOTE ]
There exists several ways to transfer inf and items without a mail system. However they come with added baggage. There is the extra account, but that costs $15 a month. This favors those with more real life money over those with a single account, creating a two-tier system. You could try to trade with a friend, but that comes with a time cost. There is a method with even greater risk by trying to use the market to transfer the item/inf. Finally, there is using group storage items to transfer, but comes with either the risk of theft from another person in the group or the diminished presence of larger groups as people leave to start solo groups.
Seeing that it already exists and is already happening, adding a mail transfer system should have minimal negative effect on the market. Items transferred wouldn't be heading to the market anyways, so there is nothing lost for them. In the case of groups there would likely be some small benefit as people wouldn't have to worry about making "personal storage groups" to facilitate transfer of items. At any rate it would eliminate the advantage of those who can afford to pay for two or more accounts.

Ok. For all of you who want to "mail emails to myself", I give you a challenge.
Come up with a VALID reason as to WHY you should be allowed to mail emails to yourself by following these rules:
(1) Refrain from using OTHER MMOs as a source of reference.
(2) The reason(s) MUST be in paragraph form. None of the following will be allowed:

So, there you have it. Lets see what you've got. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just the look of the object. This game already has us having to narrate our origins to justify why the powers themselves look the same, but why not have some choices as to how the staff and wand look?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that would be nice. I wouldn't object to it as long as everyone has the chance to pick a style, especially the vets who've already chosen their powers months if not years ago. -
Personally I love to do the safeguard missions. Although I prefer doing them solo. I just love all that sweet XP. The badges and temp powers are a side bonus I rarely pay attention too. I get them when I get them.
Heck From 5 to 10 all I run is scanner and safeguards in KR for all that sweet sweet magic salvage. -
[ QUOTE ]
As I have always said, "If it uses a weapon, it should be customizable!" This is particularly true of the Nemesis staff. You still get the thing as a temp in-mission, why not change the name of the Vet version and make it customizable?
[/ QUOTE ]
If it's merely changing the appearance of the weapons themselves, AND everyone has the option of changing the appearance, regardless of when the power was chosen. (so a 60 month vet can select a different style Ghost Axe) Then I don't have a problem. That's Weapon's Customization and we already have that.
If he wants completely different power animations, then no. That's power customization and that should be done for regular powers long before they consider giving it to Vet Rewards.
If he want's more choices of powers to choose from, then no. That would screw over the vets that already chose their permanent vet rewards. -
No. It's the idea of screwing around with the vet rewards, and more options is the same thing as customization. It doesn't matter if it's power or weapon customization. You want to pick and choose.
If the devs are going to work on any type of customization, they will do it for the actual powersets and not the vet rewards.
In the future, if vet rewards continue after 60 months they may add new temp powers you can choose, but they will NEVER add to the existing choices.
Why? Because it will piss off every single person that has already chosen powers for those rewards.
A power once chosen can never be changed, and to suddenly give more choices to newer players will cause nothing but animosity from many vets. The very people they are saying thanks to for being loyal customers.
It's always a good idea to slap your loyal customers in the face. -
[ QUOTE ]
Why would they customize Veteran Powers (which are a freebie reward for only a part of the game population) when they haven't yet done any customization for the vast majority of regular powers (other than Weapon Customization) that ALL players use? That doesn't seem like the best use of their time, especially since after the first levels, many Vets don't even use the Vet Reward powers because they can't be enhanced.
As far as daggers and grenades go - if you want daggers, make our character Natural Origin and get Throwing Knives; all of the Origins get a minor thrown weapon power power resembling darts or grenades. Not as powerful as Warshade on a Stick or the Giant Tech Lollipop of Doom but available to every player who chooses that Origin.

Donut: Dude, this is sweet! City Hall was so happy that I got the Arachnos flag, they gave me my own color Mind Control!
Grif: ... Uh, hey Donut?
Donut: What?
Simmons: Uh, about your Mind Control power...
Donut: What about it?
Simmons: How do I put this? Your power is, um... It's a little, um... Grif, you wanna help me out here?
Grif: It's pink! Your power is freakin' pink!
. . .
Donut: Look at it, it's not pink. It's like, uhhh, a lightish-red.
Grif: Guess what? They already have a color for lightish-red. You know what it's called? Pink!
Donut: I hate you guys...
[Sarge berates Grif for chatting with Doc]
Grif: Come on, Sarge, he doesn't even have a gun.
Simmons: Oh, well, you two will be great friends, then. He doesn't have a gun, and you didn't bring any ammo!
Grif: Hey, thanks, kiss-[censored]! If I wanna take guarding tips from the guy that lost our last prisoner, I'll be sure to ask you!
Donut [to Simmons]: Oh, man, that is a burn! Dude, you just got burned! Burned, dude, burned!
Simmons: Oh shut up.... Your power's pink. -

I'm sure someone has thought of this already, but I thought I would bring it up. I believe that for every 250 badges you earn you should earn an additional level once you hit lvl50.

Pardon me if I quote Pax:
In an effort to convey a simple and direct response consisting primarily of the sentiment expressed in the word no, and in the honest belief that such a term is not intrinsically rude or insulting, while nonetheless avoiding the sting of moderation due to the policies outlined by Ex Libris while concurrently avoiding further elaboration upon the aforementioned simple response, the author has shamelessly endeavored to construct a post of artificially ludicrous length yet, he sincerely hopes, undeniably civil and even apologetic tone.
Sadly, the author has been placed in the unfortunate position of crafting a meandering and nearly devoid-of-meaning message due to the misperception, by some, that responding to topics in certain allegedly-more-important sections of these forums with an unadorned no constitutes, in some unfathomable to the author form, a direct and inexcusable attack on the originator of that topic, and indeed, upon the processes of conversation and discussion themselves. From whence this mystical power to stop all discourse arises, the author is sadly ignorant, for it seems to hold no such power in his experience and observation; indeed, it seems innately to promt a renewal of that discourse, in the form of another single and unadorned word: "why?"
In the meantime, the author wishes to renew his apologies for wasting so much of his readers' time in this probably all too vain and futile effort, with the observation that should you the reader have continued perusing these words to this point, it seems an inescapable conclusion that some modicum of entertainment value has been derived from them. Perhaps, if this is indeed the case, it would be advisable for the reader to seek a more fulfilling and engaging form of entertainment - for which, the author would humbly beg the privilege of recommending that the reader actually log onto the City of Heroes/Villains(TM) game servers for an hour or more; such an activity would certainly provide a more enriching and pleasing diversion for him or her (should the reader so elect, they may insert the gender-designative term of their preference here, as the author does not wish to give offense on any grounds aside from the unnaturally drawn-out length of this post).
As you have have already said you are aware that the devs wave said they are NOT GOING TO RAISE THE LEVEL CAP.
Get over it.
Stop trying to camouflage your raise the level cap requests.
Whats next? Are you going to try to suggest that people be awarded extra levels based on the number of Vet rewards they've earned? -
[ QUOTE ]
Ummm ok...which is why I made my comment...now both sides are equal again...

Sorry LISAR, My bad for not being clearer, I was directing the second part to the other respondants and not at you. I consolidated my responses instead of making two posts, and I should have identified whom I was answering at the top of each statement. -
Well I agree with the devs that the level 50 requirement was a bad idea.
I also don't have any objection with the basic suggestion by the OP, I just want the playing field kept level. I don't see the need to antagonise one faction over the other when we just recently got the epic AT table balanced. -
Fine. When I see the balancing VEATs fleshed out and added to this suggestion I'll change my agreement.
