And what happens to the SG's where not everyone wants to leave the server?
Are they going to get to keep the base and SG they contributed to, while the the others start over on a new SG?
Are the devs supposed to come up with some convoluted equation for determining a fair division of prestige? Or are they just going to divide the SG prestige in half.
And if they do allow something like that to happen, is it really fair to the players that are remaining on the original server to see their base destroyed and have to be rebuilt with only half of the resources?
And what happens to the crafted base items? That salvage is gone forever.
Who gets the SG badges and the items they unlock? Surely you're not suggesting that the people leaving to go to another server are more entitled to them than the ones remaining behind.
And when a base is deconstructed in order to turn it into prestige to be converted, what happens to all the items in storage? Most SG's have more items than they can carry.
Do those items get sold off to an NPC store for a flat rate as is done during a respec? -
We haven't seen a single valid reason why it should be allowed.
The AE buildings aren't going to be locked so no one can enter during the event. No one is preventing them from experiencing player created content. -

I always make sure to tell them that the forums and paragonwiki are very important because there really is too much to the game to convey in chat.
Patrons are an excellent example of that. I remember a 10 minute conversation with someone last year trying to give them some market basics and explain how I really wasn't level 10 (I was doing an Ouros arc and had hit the market).
I really think there just needs to be some way to let the new AE people know there is a big world out there. Yes, the leveling will be slower in general but there's a lot of cool things to see and stories to experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
They know..they choose not to do it. so pfft in their general direction.
The majority will be gone in a month, some will find the content and stay some will find pvp and stay..some will make friends and stay...
[/ QUOTE ]
DER! That's why we want them to experience the rest of the game.
If they realize there's more here than just Atlas and the AE they might keep their subs active.
More active subs means more money for the devs, which means more new features for us.
Or to put it in terms you might understand
More customers Goooooood.

No one here is stupid and I can imagine the madness that will be double XP + AE, but what kind of message will be sent?
[/ QUOTE ]
If they don't allow 2xp in the AE, the message will be that it is another feature that is restricted during the event. Just like patrol xp, drops, etc are restricted.
[/ QUOTE ]
What is this!? Patrol xp doesn't work in AE? HOG POSH! saves peoples silly arses from getting debt. . . well. . . depending on how they are doing things, but using patrol XP to not get debt is the exact same, if not better than using patrol xp any other way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to misread the post.
I was talking about things that don't count as doubled in the 2xp event.
You don't earn double patrol xp during the 2xp event.
Drops are not doubled.
I don't think merits are doubled either. -
Oh and if your planning to eventually have a base on both sides, I'd suggest make them both now.
You can use the 300k you get from the enlistment bonus of the first 15 members to get a starter base ready, and while your waiting for "Going Rogue" to come out, any prestige earned when you dabble hero side will just add to what you can spend.
Take advantage of the next 2xp weekend to get a nice nest egg for your hero base. -

One more thing, I am guessing I missed. Which room can you have a storage for recipes? I assumed it was workroom. But as of yet, havn't seen any type of storage that can hold recipes for Supergroup.
[/ QUOTE ]
At the current time the devs don't want us to have the ability to store recipes in bases.
You options are as follows:
Store them on an unused alt.
Store them in the Auction House slots. (the unused alt will also have slots at the Auction House)
Craft the recipes (If they are enhancements) and store them in an enhancement table. Then set the table security high enough so they can't be stolen. -

The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status
what the heck? i have turned off all my fire wall stuff...i was just playing last night, and this morning i cant play :S is the server down or something? server status page shows as the server is up any help would be hot

I believe the only logical way is to only allow the superleader to have the power to rename and/or transfer the supergroup across servers. Does it give the SL quite a bit of power in the SG .. yes, but then the SG's SL is most likely the person that founded the SG in the first place. Only if your SL is a .. ahem .."Jerk" would he/she rename or move the SG without having a majority of the members approve it. If you think on it there really is nothing stopping a SL from kicking everyone in the SG except himself right now as we speak. just need to have reliable/trustworthy SL'ers.
Just the time savings of not having to ditch millions of prestige earned to start out with nil, not having to spend months .. heck years if your a small SG just to get back to where you were before the move is an idea I believe most can get behind.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's a thought...let us "sell back" our SGs. We all know what the exchange rate is...well...if we sell our sg back, we get influence multiplied back to us, and we can take that to any server, start the sg there, and exchange the influence again, getting equal value for the sg we sold.
Just a thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yeah there's a brilliant idea. I can form an SG, put 15 alts into it and sell the 300k enlistment bonus back for 150 million inf. Then repeat the process as often as I want. I could easily earn several billion an hour.
Uhm . . . HELL NO! -

Trial accounts can't get to level 14. Raising the email limit to 14 stops them dead cold.

The banning isn't happening anymore...lets be real here. Without chat logs, no one can prove a person is a spammer, and since non-spammers are getting global ignored, the system is broke. Period.

Prove it.
Show us the documentation that confirms that the spam emails are NOT coming from trial accounts.
Show us the documentation that confirms that RMT companies are paying for accounts. Bank Statements, credit card bills, any type of reciept.
Show us the datamining that confirms that the GM's have stopped banning accounts. It's not hard for them to generate a report that lists the number of accounts that have been banned and for what reason.
we're waiting . . .
Oh that's right . . you can't because you're just making wild accusations with nothing to back it up. -

yea a new retail box in stores that you can't use the advertised feature to take advantage of double xp? that'll happen

And just where on the retail box does it give anyone the impression that will be allowed during the 2xp event.
Provide pics please.
The devs haven't said anything yet one way or the other. -

I just wish they would let us set mission doors out in the world. Not only would it add something to the mission but it would probably eliminate most of the farming we see. the main reason people do it is because they have to walk only 2 steps to get a new mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I really don't see why any of these people bother with travel powers at all. They never use them to travel.

That explains why the AE babies taste like veal. They spend all their time getting fat, tender, and juicy off of AE farms. -

I hate Freedom now that it has become a giant bucket of noob AE farm bile.
[/ QUOTE ]
But Freedom was fine before I14 when the noob farm bile hung out in Peregine Island.
It never fails. Every time a 2xp weekend is announced some whiner wants free transfers off of Freedom because he knows the server will be greyed out. You made your bed now sleep in it.
Cough up the cash or roll up new characters. No free transfers for anyone. -
This isn't the first time the devs have scheduled invasions during events. We've seen multiple Rikti/Zombie invasions occuring across multiple zones during the Halloween and Winter events. There were days the invasions felt like they were going off every 5 minutes. Players were begging the devs to turn off the invasions because they were so common that they got annoying.

[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I agree with everything you have brought up, but with the addition of the new Super Leader rank Sunstorm implied that ownership of an SG belongs to the SL and not the SG members. (sadly that thread has been deleted so I can't get his exact words.) -
The devs are never going to sell anything that can be traded between players, or characters on the same account for that matter.
Anything sold at the store will be account/character specific. -

Oh yeah that'll be real effective cuz it's so easy to confuse
Arc 92259: Felis Prime by @Tyger42
with
Arc 12345: Fellis Pryme by @Kingsbury
And I'm sure no one has thought of typing a list of their favorite arcs in their bio page so they don't forget them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd think normally people search by arc name for those kinds of arcs. Still, a similar but not the same spelling won't come up in the search if the name of the arc they're looking for is spelled right in the first place. I suppose it may catch a few people on the same principle "fat finger dialing" scams catch people, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it's more likely he'd get people that were just browsing various arcs rather than dedicated farmers. They're going to be using arc numbers, looking for missions created by the same author rather than misreading a spelling error. -

I have sent PMs regarding use of NCcoin on CoX but have gotten no response.
I would love it if NCCoin were usable for monthly subs as well as the Boosters. My family is always trying to figure out what to get me for holidays, and a couple of NCcoin cards would be great if they applied to this game.
[/ QUOTE ]
You obviously don't understand the purpose of NCcoin. Exteel is a free game. There is no monthly subscription. NCcoins are used to buy in game items to trick out a players Mechanaught.
If your family wants to get you something, they can buy you a 30 or 60 day PlayNC time card, or even a $20 CoH game card which comes with the nifty Jetpack. -
[ QUOTE ]
OK, taking into account most of the MA babies are not going to be on here... put an evil plan in motion.
I took a look at one of the exploit mission and made a NEAR copy of it slighty different spelling here and there but story other-wise it is nearly the same so easily confuised.
One slight difference when you get in the mission it is DEATH INCARNATE. I put in one of the toons I have spent over 3 billion on I/O'ing out and died with-in the first 30 seconds of entering the mission (didn't get a chance to actually even move). Tried stealthing and phasing through the mission and couldn't even do that.

Most of these posts are kind of hypocritical.
Your mostly upset that players are now making the game easy on themselves by leveling up quickly in AE.
It's hypocritical because the real reason your upset is because you want to make the game easier by inviting players on your task force team that know what they're doing instead of just teaching someone how to play and informing them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now that's some pretty warped logic right there...
[/ QUOTE ]
Sign me up for warped logic then, because I kind of agree with him.
When I see folks who have no clue what they're doing on my team, I don't sigh, I just enjoy the extra challenge. YMMV.
No team wipes because of one, two or even seven players out of eight ; the only one responsible for your own death is yourself, and using newbies as a scapegoat won't change that fact.
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to misunderstand the topic of this thread.
The problem we are talking about isn't that characters are getting killed by other players incompetence.
The problem is that many new players are developing an unrealistic skewed idea of what this game has to offer because they are only seeing one tiny aspect of it.
1. We are seeing more and more players that think the game only consists of one zone.
2. We are seeing more and more players that don't understand the basic game mechanics.
3. For the ones that never leave Atlas this will lead to boredom because they will soon tire of running the same easy farm missions over and over.
They are already having problems running regular AE missions because they don't know the basic game mechanics, and those missions seem unreasonably difficult to them.
4. Once they are bored and frustrated they will cancel their subs and if asked they will say negative things based on their faulty experiences.
That costs the company money and is bad for the game.
If the new players actually learn how to play the game there is a better chance that they will stick around and become vets like the rest of us, and they'll be recommending the game to their friends.
In other words:
Less customers Baaaaad.

If they designed CoH 2 so that existing CoH toons could be ported over to it somehow, I think they might have a better time of it with a sequel.
What I'd like to see from any Coh2 is essentially paragon and the RI from CoH1, but with shinier gfx etc, and another 3or4 times as much geography and content.

[/ QUOTE ]
This would be the smart thing to do. Create the new game engine and port over the customers characters. That way the playerbase doen't get split up between to versions of the game. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think as the next step after changing the colors of our powers they should let us change animations, they could just have multiple animations the same length for different power, for example they could give all the martial arts powers alternate punch animations instead of kicks, they would all be the same animation length to keep the powers the same.
Not sure if the pulse rifle example would really work this way though, would be weird have the pulse rifle graphics and do lethal damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Giving you the option to change the animations is probably not feasible with the current game engine. I could see it being possible to include if they coded it into the game from the very begining.
It would be a huge undertaking to start now and we wouldn't see the results for a long time. It is possible that if they could be working on it already which would mean we'd see it sooner but they rarely if ever confirm they are working on anything.
