Are you saying you were unsubbed to the game or that you were unsubbed to recieving the emails? Because I'm talking about unsubbing from the email list.
My recollection has me remembering a discussion about closed beta invites on the forums where it was mentioned that players that unsubbed from getting emails wouldn't be invited to any future closed beta's. I think it was around the time that GR loyalty program started. -

You have to read the sellers description of the product very carefully. Quite often the seller admits the product code on the game has been used.
For example these were taken right from the sellers descriptions today on the Used CoH games

Don't by a used game that doesn't say that because theres a good chance the code you need to activate the game has been used. -
It's not complicated.
Any account that is active and remains active when Freedom goes live will be a VIP account.
Any account that was active at any point prior to going F2P and goes inactive will automatically be a Premium account when Freedom goes live.
Any account that was simply a trial account and was never active will be a Free account until they activate it or buy something from the ingame store. -

If I remember correctly the only thing they did tell us was that anyone who isn't subscribed to recieve emails or has unsubscribed will never be chosen.
All we know is that you have to be a player in good standing. What good standing means they refuse to tell us. We can only speculate. -

This is how RMTers abuse exploits, and this idea would be an exploit. They don't give a damn about ruining things for legitimate players. And with the switch to F2P we are going to see the return of a lot of RMTers. -

While I agree that Posi's statement isn't 100% clear on that matter, I wonder why he would single out GR's 2 slots from the "Other bonuses" category at the end of the list if he didn't mean that GR owners would get 2 more slots with i21 as an alternate reward to non-GR owners getting GR's content with the Issue.

Not everyone (especially new players) has rich alts they can use to twink out new characters. -

First off. no one will lose any characters. If you have more characters than allowed slots the extra characters will be locked unable to be played until you unlock more slots by either buying them or activating your account.
Now if your account has extra slots from Vet Rewards, or some sort of purchase like an expansion or bought right from the online store you will get that many token that you can use to unlock that many extra characters.
So if you have 6 extra slots unlocked you could have 8 characters to play. The two that you get with the free/premium account plus the 6 unlocked.
From what I've seen so far you can't switch characters in and out of being locked. If they allowed that people wouldn't have any incentive to upgrade/activate their accounts or to even unlock more character slots.
So the characters you choose to unlock are the only ones you get to play. -

And besides, if this feature was only available to subbed players on characters that are only level 50 is would solve the little problem you mentioned.
You forgot about Global Channels Beef. "Elitism" evolved past SG's and expanded into Global Channel communities.

So if the OP buys GR for the second account, they get 2 free character slots just because it comes with GR. If the OP waits until CoHF goes live, then they get GR automatically by staying subscribed, and get 2 free slots just for having GR then.

It is limited for the same reason that Trial accounts are limited, RMT spammers. It seems like a long time ago, but there was a time that you couldn't do anything without getting a dozen tells (or in-game emails) from a RMT spammer before you could block them. Opening up the F2P accounts to sending tells will just cause the spam to hit again. This isn't locked out because they want to be mean or to force F2P players to upgrade. It's done so the paying players are not chased away from the game because of spam.

In the case of Epic AT's the devs have made the unilateral decision to decide what origins the Epic AT's will be.
That decision however does not prevent players from ignoring it and coming up with their own backstory that contradicts what the devs forced upon us.
Personally I like Throwing Knives more than the other origin temp powers so many of my alts have chosen Natural for that power. That hasn't stopped me from ignoring the origin I needed to take to get Throwing Knives and making obvious mutant, magic, science, and tech characters. -
Yeah we won't see the VIP server until the F2P hybrid goes live and that's a couple of months off yet.
